Honestly I am confused about this whole story. Jian Cheng had his core melted but in the begining chapters he is the sect leader and tries to kill WWX after that statue god incident. Also before chapter 50 when WWX what observing his past at the party WWX could already control zombies and Jiang Chengs dad was with him. Other cultivators were talking about how he killed a lot of wen dogs. But now before the war started JC dad is dead and WWX still hasn’t gained the ability to control the dead. i’m so thrilled about this..however the present is still the present. where we stop before, where wei wuxan got stabbed, is a huge cliffhanger and i’m so anticipating what will happen next and yet here we are still at the past. i can’t wait to read what happened next but this is so slow paced however it’s also thrilling. oh man, i wish it could proceed to the present already.

I believe that Wei Ying sacrificed his own golden core to Jiang Cheng for many reasons building up throughout this whole unfortunate Wen dogs episodes. Using the three days (while Jiang Cheng remains unconscious/resting) Wei Ying had carefully thought up of a story (excuse) to led Jiang Cheng into believing that BaoShan SanRen could restore his golden core (but really, Wei Ying do not know where his deceased mum’s celestial master is! This is my second read through of this LN and after finding out what really happened on that mountain…this chapter got so much more powerful. This entire flashback had me in tears but rereading it now knowing what I do just has me absolutely sobbing.

WWX had a stronger spiritual core, and much stronger than JC. Early chapters ranked him 3 in the world of cultivation amongst his peers.
There was also a lack of self confidences on the part of JC along with a father who favour the adopted son, a strong controlling mother, and the fact he had to accommodate a new member into his life at 8.
There is a bind and love between them, but outside forces drew a wedge into their relationship and as a result created more doubts and insecurities into an already weaken relationship
