So much feels for the parallels between Lan WangJi and his father, and the underlying message big bro XiChen was trying to convey to WuXian by sharing the backstory of their parents.
Wangji’s father hid and protected his mother in that cottage in the Cloud Recesses. Wangji had told his brother in the past that he wanted to bring someone back to Gusu, to bring him back and hide him. And now given the second chance, he proceeds to bring Wei Ying back and hide him and heal him in the same cottage.

And Xichen saying that with WangJi’s nature, if you never asked him he would never have said anything and even if you did he would not have told you.. is his way of telling WuXian that WangJi loved him and wanted to protect him like their father loved and wanted to protect their mother. That although he never said it and probably never would, he loved WuXian with all his heart.
He waited stubbornly for WuXian when he was gone exactly like how he stubbornly waited for his mom when she was gone.

And how LanZhan reverted to a child-like state whenever he was drunk with WeiYing is so touching and endearing! Almost like WeiYing reminded him of feelings he felt with his mother, of being loved and being teased, and he could finally open up and become vulnerable in front of WeiYing and indulge in a childhood, of playing and acting-spoiled, a childhood he and his brother never had. He finally found a soulmate he could open up and share his vulnerable side with. Aw-my-goshhhh 😭
