Damn Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji’s father is a really dedicated, devoted and even sort of romantic guy… I guess it runs in the family huh? XD Seeing that Lan Wangji too, is willing to go to such lengths for Wei Wu Xian :). And omg Lan Wangji bringing the liquor though!! He’s really changing

“I do not know why she did such a thing back then.”
Does this mean their mother committed suicide?

Is there anyone safe from having a tragic past? My god, Wangji and XiChen didn’t deserve this 🤧
“No matter how much others comforted him, how much Uncle scolded him, he would continue to come back here every single month.” Is this how WangJi behaved when WuXian died?! I can picture him being in denial and waiting for WWX to come back even though nobody was able to summon his soul 🙁
Thank you so so so much for translating and scanning this novel. Keep up the amazing job. GOD BLESS YOU!

I get the feeling that LXC told WWX about their parents because the way LWJ protected WWX is exactly like his father protected their mother that.. for the rest of his life, whoever wanted to harm his wife, would have to pass through him first.

I can’t help but think the jars of Emperor’s Smile will be the two Wei Wuxian refilled with water and put back.
what if the 2 jars WangJi brought are the ones WuXian filled with water? lol that would serve WuXian right.
about WangJi’s father, i see, like father like son~

This is so sad T_T Poor kids, both Wangji and Xichen.. what a tragic backstory. I really liked two poignants scenes, the one in which Xichen is playing a song and the other of Wangji waiting for his mother in front of the door. And I think there are definitely some parallels to be drawn between Wanji’s father and Wangji himself.. even if the circumstances are obviously quite different. Thanks for the translation!!
This chapter was so warming after the awful events in the previous chapters…
Thank you for translation, I really can’t stop reading this novel.

So much in this chapter! First finding that a song is missing and then LXC sharing a bit of his and LWJ’s past. Goodness, these two never really got much of a childhood. Their parents sound like they would have been lovely people though.
LWJ bringing Emporer’s Smile back for WWX though! So cute!
Thank you for translating this! It really has been so enjoyable!

LWJ and LXC’s childhood is sad. It’s definitely hard for LXC to believe that JGY might have a hand in the death of NMJ.
“Lan XiChen’s mother was Lan WangJi’s mother. Wei WuXian found this a bit strange.” Eehhhhhh XDXDXD

I think this is why Lan Zhan asked Wei Ying to go back to Gusu with him and told XiChen that he wanna hide him just like his father hid his wife n protected her till the end. Lan Zhan has his father’s gene, but not as direct n honest as his father. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Wow, all of their childhoods were beyond heartbreaking and tragic…
Lan WangJi and Lan XiChen’s, Jiang Chen’s, Xue Yang’s, Wei WuXian’s…
And I’ve got a feeling that Lan XiChen already figured out about his younger brother’s feelings for WuXian, judging from what he said earlier “There are some things that even if you ask him he would not say…
unless he’s drunk, that is.”

So, LWJ father imprisoned his wife and himself in two separate room/house, force himself not to sleep with her….Then how come LWJ and LXC is borned? haha
Still, LWJ does inherite his father’s gene when it comes to his loves life…I wonder what about LXC….Will LXC find his love life? I hope LXC love life will be a normal one, since too many tragic history in Lan’s family love life…
Is that the liquor jar that wei wuxian filled with water? 😂

The Lan bros’ parents’ story really explains why Lan Zhan reacts to Wei Ying the way he does, especially the “Go back to Gusu with me” bit.
