Shiya: This chapter gave me the worst headache of my life. ಥ_ಥ Even thought author said not to put too much thought into real life places, checking for it is very interesting, so I did lol. Here’s what I found (Basically me translating a piece of news article lol):

There have always been rumors that the Liwan shopping mall in Guangzhou used to be a mass burial site. Moreover, the chinese simplified characters 荔湾广场 looks like 荔湾尸场. Plus, there were quite a number of deaths related to that place.

It was said that the original developer took the money that was supposed to be given to the inhabitants there, then decided to burn the houses to vacate the inhabitants. So, in August of 1993, fire broke out, 24 died in the fire, and 12 were injured, hundreds lost their homes. After that people often hear the sobbing of children and women there at 12:00 in the night.

That developer went bankrupt in 1994, and another Hong Kong developer took the job. That company owner deeply believed in occult related things, so he hired monks to do rituals before developing the site. That monk told him this place was a Ghost Gate, and if he developed this place into a park or a temple, it would be a great merit for the owner. After the rituals were done, construction began, but they found that the piling machine wasn’t able to break through the ground for some reason on the first day. As for whether the above is hearsay, no one knows, but the fact is even after the Liwan shopping mall was built, at least 15 people have died there. Some fell off the building suspiciously, some died in cabaret clubs, and in 2015, an apartment on the 28th floor had a fire that broke out, killing one person. 

Many Guangzhou locals know the stories about Liwan Plaza. Built in the 1990’s on top of a burial ground from the Qing Dynasty. Liwan Plaza has been a breeding ground of evil spirits and has seen countless ghastly events. From the dozen suicides that have occurred in the building to the mysterious dead infant found in the stairwell all the way to the developers on the building project each dying one by one from mysterious causes. Liwan Plaza definitely has a dark history behind it. Many Guangzhou locals will not even go near the building.
