Chen Yang took off his red string and faced the tall monster in front of him. The reason why he called it a monster was due to his killing methods, which were too cruel and there was no human nature in it.

In fact, it was still a human being who was standing in front of him. He was two meters tall, wearing a bronze mask, which had a vertical slit of three or four cm long on the forehead. In the dark, one wouldn’t be able to see what’s inside, but if he didn’t guess wrong, there must be a third eye under the slit.

The three tragedies, the death of He Tao’s companions and his friends’ coma state were all related to this strange man in front of him with a bronze mask on. Chen Yang stepped back and calmly asked, “Who are you?”

Before he landed on the ground, he held the string and jumped up, resting his feet on the monster’s shoulder, pulling on the red string tightly.

The bronze coin hummed and Chen Yang yelled, “Go!”

The next moment, the bronze coin slid towards the bronze mask monster, and instantly burned a black hole in his neck. With a howl of pain, the bronze masked freak stabbed a bronze stake towards Chen Yang who was strangling him from behind.

Chen Yang let go and jumped away from the bronze mask monster. He took his red string back and looked coldly at him, “Born a human, but full of evil spirit. Not a ghost, and not a man. You should be punished.” He immediately made the Wulei hand gesture and recited the chant without using any talismans, “I adhere to the order from the Wulei Tianzun, let the divine army descend, as urgent as a law.”

As soon as  his voice fell, thunder fire hit the bronze mask monster. After being directly hit by the thunder and fire, the bronze mask monster escaped unhurt and was furious. Chen Yang was surprised, “Not afraid of thunder and fire?”

If it was not afraid of thunder and fire, then there was no need for him to do more. Chen Yang pulled the red string between his hands, and the bronze coin hung in the middle, buzzing. It entangled the wrist of the monster. He wanted to snatch the bronze stake and the bronze hammer from his hands. Yet, the monster was physically very strong, and he almost caught Chen Yang instead.

Chen Yang chose the second best plan, he made the bronze mask monster trip and used the chance to escape from the basement. When he left, he subconsciously glanced back and was surprised to find that there was a child standing in the place where the three corpses were hanging.

The child seemed to be staring at him, he was not afraid to look at Chen Yang. On the contrary, he was smiling. In truth, the child’s body was very pale, his two eyes only had whites, and his smile could only be described as heart-chilling.

But Chen Yang understood that it did not mean any harm to people.

When he got back on the second floor, Chen Yang found that there was a very obvious change on the second floor. It was pitch dark before, but now the lights were bright. When he had a closer look, it was really Kou Xuanling’s soul. Chen Yang frowned, “Why are you here? What about the others?”

“This is not the time to ask that. Let’s go. The bronze mask monster is coming. Go downstairs first. Don’t step on the blood. The monster will hunt you down following the blood,” Kou Xuanling tiptoed cautiously down the stairs, “You can follow me, I’m familiar with the way.”

Chen Yang looked down at Kou Xuanling. He placed his hand on the railing and slid directly down from the second floor to the first floor. He turned back to face the stairs looking at Kou Xuanling who was tiptoeing down like a thief  taking half a day to reach the bottom of the stairs.

Kou Xuanling was speechless.

He landed on the ground in silence, then led Chen Yang into a room. Zhang Qiudao and others were in the room as well. When they saw Chen Yang, they all gathered around to ask him questions. Chen Yang asked them to be quiet for a moment, “Let’s start with what happened last night. Why is a piece of your soul separated from your body?”

“I heard them scream last night,” Kou Xuanling said, pointing back to a group of ordinary people behind him, presumably the students who came to explore. Now they were all full of remorse and shame but no one has the time to blame them right now. “We were all on the first floor. When we heard the screaming, we ran upstairs and saw the stairs covered with blood and chunks of body parts. At that time the scene was chaotic. They were fleeing frantically. The bronze mask monster appeared and they were scared by it so much that a part of their soul left and got trapped at this “point in time”. In order to protect them, we followed them and left a part of our soul out as well.”

Chen Yang was stunned for a moment and then immediately responded, “I saw the three corpses you described in the basement. Why did the bronze masked monster kill them?”

“Because the bronze masked monster believed that his wife and Ye Guoxian were having an affair together. He even thought his own son was not his, so he killed them all.” Kou Xuanling explained and handed him a book, “This is the diary we found in the room where the murder happened on the first floor. It’s the diary of the monster’s wife. But there are a lot of words I can’t read at the front and back portions of the book. Later, the two families which stayed in Ye family estate No. 444, were also believers of the Luozu religion. The bronze masked monster hiding in the basement regarded them as violating the God of Three Eyes and brutally killed them. Some of the corpses were taken away to feed the Female Enmity, and some were thrown back into the cages in the basement.

From 1:36 to 1:46, this time point will make the bronze mask monster extremely irritable and even cause him to lose his mind. The bronze mask monster identifies the people who break into the second floor of Ye family estate No. 444 at this time point, and as the pursuer, he kills them.

Chen Yang said, “It was probably when I was fighting that bronze mask monster, I got the blood from him.”

The bronze mask monster smashed on the door from the outside and the door did not hold up for long. He opened the lid of the tank and looked at the water. But found an arm in the water, it was soaked to the point it was white, and maggots grew on it. He craned his neck and looked at it closer. Suddenly, two arms reached out from the bottom of the water tank and dragged him into it. ³

Shen Yihui struggled for a while, he took a split second when he got out of the water to chant a Taoist exorcizing mantra. ⁴ He only barely managed to get away from the Female Enmity’s grasp. At the same time, the evocative bell fell into the water tank and made a sound. The Female Enmity also crawled out of the water tank, there were several arms in the water tank and some fell out along with the Female Enmity.

In Ye family estate No. 444, there was someone raising a Female Enmity. They were such evil things!

Shen Yihui knew that he was not the opponent of a Female Enmity. His special pistol with bullets stained with dog blood was also dropped into the water tank, he was without weapons. So he turned around and ran away. The Female Enmity ran after him.

The Female Enmity wrapped her hair around Shen Yihui’s neck, and he was about to suffocate. Du Shuo appeared and trampled on the being’s head. Shen Yihui coughed and said thanks hoarsely.

Du Shuo asked, “Have you seen Chen Yang?”

Shen Yihui shook his head, “No.”

They did not enter the time period from 1:36 to 1:46. Shen Yihui missed it because of the Female Enmity, and Du Shuo was naturally unaffected.

After that he left quickly. When he ran to the end of the hall, he saw the door. The door was open so he bent down to get in.  He found Hu Yinnan and the others were about to wake up.

Du Shuo went downstairs and kicked open the main door, “Come out.”

Outside the door, several men in blue came into the yard. They looked at each other for a few seconds, and then followed Du Shuo into the building. Du Shuo was standing in the hall on the first floor, his face expressionless, his eyes deep in thought.

The leader bowed and said, “What do you want from us, great emperor?”

Du Shuo raised his eyes. “Here’s what you’re looking for.”

The people in blue robes were angry after hearing that. They were led by their leader, who  bowed to Du Shuo, then he formed an array and whispered incantations in his mouth. After a while those incantations like water droplets converged into a small stream. And then  converging again, gradually becoming a big river. Although their intonation was strange, it had strong magical powers. ⁵

When Hu Yinnan and others came out of the basement and stood on the second floor, they all heard the strange mantra. They didn’t know the meaning nor understand it, they just had a strong desire to return home. Some perceptual young people sobbed and missed their home on the spot. Even Mao Xiaoli said that she was homesick, which showed how strange the mantras recited by the people in blue robes downstairs were.

They thought that the man in blue robes and the bronze mask monster were from the same group because they also wore bronze masks. Although the third eye was not vertical, they were still similar. When they saw Du Shuo downstairs with them, they immediately dropped their guard down. After listening to the spell for a while, one could vaguely understand that it was a mantra calling for something, it was filled with missing and kindness.

When the water droplets converged into a river and the waves were surging. When the whispering mantra gradually grew to sounds that were able to break gold and jade and could penetrate clouds and rocks, the bronze mask monster and Chen Yang were pulled through the torn space and time. They slowly emerged in front of everyone.

The bronze mask monster heard the strange emphasis of the incantation, and saw the men in blue. He retreated in fear. Seeing this man, the leader yelled, “Evil animal! Yu Cong!”

A young man in blue robes stepped up and responded with a sonorous and powerful voice. The rest of the people in blue robes changed the mantra and repeated it again. The young man in blue named Yu Cong had a change in aura that could be seen by the naked eye. The man in blue robes actually asked the Three-eyed God to descend into Yu Cong’s body on the spot.

The bronze mask monster retreated in fear, waving a bronze hammer and a bronze stake in his hand. The bronze mask monster which was physically very strong was nothing against Yu Cong, and his hammer and stake were taken away.

Yu Cong held the bronze stake against the third eye on the forehead. He knocked the stake with the hammer with the other hand, getting the third eye out. Over a period of time, a fake eye would have merged to become a real eye. This is painful to have it pried out. But what was more painful was the loss of the eye’s protection. The mask on the monster’s face was taken off, revealing a common but terrible face. His facial features had  degenerated after wearing the mask for a long time. Yu Cong nailed a bronze stake into the monster’s eye, but he was lacking one bronze stake.

Zhang Qiudao threw a bronze stake he had collected from the basement to Yu Cong. Yu Cong took the stake and nailed it into the mask monster’s remaining eye, punishing him for these unforgivable sins.

“Why did you steal a whole bag of bronze stakes?” Kou Xuanling asked Zhang Qiudao.

Zhang Qiudao was carrying a heavy backpack, “Nonsense. I’m recycling.”

“That’s it.” Mao Xiaoli also carried a whole bag of bronze. “What’s the result of leaving them in the basement, do you know? Forever buried in the dark.”

“The Taoist friends are helping these bronze pieces to see the sun again and it is a great deed indeed.” Hu Yinnan praised with sincerity.

Shen Yihui had no choice but to glance at the whole bag of bronze in Hu Yinnan’s hand. He did not expect that Hu Yinnan would not forget to search for things she could sell, even at a time of fleeing. Her character was really thrifty.

Kou Xuanling had seen the world in the Main Office and never stooped for money. Therefore, he could not understand Zhang Qiudao and the rest’s stingy attitude.

These bronze items were taken by the mask monster who had escaped from the Ghost Clan. Although later they were ordered to be returned by Chen Yang to the people in blue robes. 

Light finally came out. Shen Yihui called his coworkers to record the scene and send the shocked college students home. The man in blue robes took away the bronze mask monster as well as the corpse of his wife and children in the basement before dawn.

The three members of the masked monster family were all three-eyed ghost tribe people. Their bones would be brought back to Min Mountain. The bronze mask monster once stole the most precious treasure of the Ghost Clan, and was pursued by the people in blue robes for a hundred years. The kid ghost in the Ye family estate No. 444 was also taken away with them. He was the son of the masked monster. It was also him who reminded Hu Yinnan that they should not step on the blood and led them to the room to hide.

Before the blue robe man left, he said a few words with Chen Yang. Basically inviting him to Min Mountain, Sichuan Province. They lived in a cave in Min Mountain, as descendants of the three eyed ghost clan. Chen Yang, as a descendant of the Wu, was warmly regarded as a member of the same clan.

Chen Yang thanked them and said that he would go when he had the opportunity.

On the way back to the hotel, Kou Xuanling asked, “So what is the third eye of the bronze mask monster?”

“The most precious treasure of the three eyes clan.” Chen Yang took out the monster’s wife’s diary from his pocket, opened it and explained, “It has many names, Sui Pearl, Suihou Pearl, Mingyue Pearl, Radiant Moon Pearl, also commonly known as the Dragon Pearl.” ⁶

“In history, the Suihou Pearl was as famous as the Heshi Plate. ⁷The story tells of Sui Hou going out to save a big snake. The big snake was a Dragon’s son, and Sui Hou was rewarded with the dragon pearl. Later, it was called the Sui Pearl and the Radiant Moon Pearl. After that, the Dragon Pearl fell into the hands of the Chu emperor. Qin destroyed Chu, so the Dragon Pearl became the national treasure of the state of Qin. When the Qin Dynasty perished, the Dragon Pearl disappeared. 

“After the ancient Shu Kingdom was destroyed by emperor Hui of the Qin Dynasty, they lived in the bottom of Min Mountain in order to avoid the war. The Dragon Pearl fell into the hands of the descendants of the ancient Shu state, and was embedded in the third eye of the God of Three Eyes. For thousands of years, it was worshiped by the descendants of the three eyed ghost clan. It was a Dragon Pearl, so it had special powers to begin with. Adding the thousand years of worship, it was very special.

“A hundred years ago, one of the three eyed ghosts clan members stole the Dragon Pearl and ran away with his wife and children to live in Ye Guoxian’s house. This was the reason why Ye family estate No. 444 had incidents happening frequently. The masked monster hid in the basement of Ye family estate with the Dragon Pearl and served corpses for the two Female Enmities. One was Ye Guoxian’s wife, and the other was the monster’s wife.

1. The monster was not afraid of thunder and fire because of the dragon pearl.
2. The stairway from 1:36 to 1:46 is a different space created by the dragon pearl. It contains the 1:36 to 1:46 from many eras and dates, so there were a lot of corpses and bloodstains.
3. Normally, the punishment was used when somebody had offended the God of Three Eyes. But it was regarded as a crime against God whenever people offended the monster, because the monster thought of itself as God. He Tao misunderstood and thought they had offended God.
4. He Tao researched the monster once he was released. He was considered to be a member of the Ghost Clan pursuing it, so he was pursued by the Female Enmity.
5. At other times, the monster is rational, hiding in the basement, and will go out to erase the traces of the people it had killed.
6. The reason why the three tragedies have not been erased is that the monster was not proficient in the use of the dragon pearl yet.
