Chapter 36: Crimson Embroidery Shoes 3; Passing Hell Soldiers

Translated by Shiya of Exiled Rebels ScanlationsĀ

“The fierce ghost killed?” Chen Yang said with a smile. “Students, we should talk about science. If you didn’t see it with your own eyes, it meant that the killer might be playing tricks.”

The male student said, “who said I didn’t see it with my own eyes?”

“Did you see it with your own eyes?”

“I didn’t see it with my own eyes, but a lot of people saw it. A lot of people. I heard it scared a girl crazy. Well, I was ill and not at the scene, or I would have photographed the ghost.”

Chen Yang suddenly realized, “You have your mobile phone?”

The boy student immediately made a shush sound, looked around at the vicinity, and did not find a teacher, then He whispered, “Brother, please don’t say that out loud. If the teacher knows, not only the mobile phone will be smashed, but also they will call the parents. I’m sure I’ll be dropped out of the school.”

“What an exaggeration? It’s just a cell phone.”

The male student snorted, “That is because you haven’t studied in Jingshui secondary school before. Other high schools also prohibit students from taking mobile phones to school and falling in love. However, they at most are punished. Here, if we get caught, we will be scrutinized on the playground. After criticism, they will ask the parents to pick us up and take us away. We will have to drop out of school immediately. It’s not negotiable.ā€

“So strict,” From the requirement of quietly eating, they can see that Jingshui secondary school is really strict. “I won’t tell your teacher, but you have to tell me about the so-called supernatural events and the dead,” Chen Yang said.

The male students peeped around again, which showed that students were really afraid of being caught by the teacher.Ā  “Jinshui secondary school has strict rules, the teachers forbid us to make up rumors about the school, including the student suicide. You might think since Jinshui secondary school is an elite school, all the students are elites.”

“Isn’t it?”

“Yes.” The male student laughed, but his smile was funny, ” Yet, all the students who came in were bad students. Some of the students who went out were bad 1, some were worse 2.”

Chen Yang’s intuition told him that the first ā€˜bad’ and the second ā€œbadā€ had different meanings. It was later understood that the former was ā€œbad/unrulyā€ and the latter was ā€œbad/distorted’. It turns out that Jinshui secondary school, with its high-intensity supervision, has transformed students who are regarded as ā€œbad childrenā€ and trained them into so-called ā€œelitesā€.

“So, back to the occult event.” The male student picked up his chopsticks and ate. “Only three meals a day even if I’m starving to death, I won’t have anything to eat later. The occult event happened twice, one a month ago and the other a week ago. A month ago, the supernatural event took place during physical education class. Just across the basketball court, a boy had thrown his basketball into the open space behind the wire fence. The others coaxed him to go pick it up. Oh, by the way, the school forbids students to go to the open space at the back hill, especially behind the fence. I heard that other people were covering for him by distracting the PE teacher. He secretly went to pick the ball up.ā€

Talking too much at one breath, the male student took a sip of soup and looked at the time. He continued, “The space at the back hill is very large, I heard that there is a row of bungalows there but no one lives in them. He saw the basketball and went to pick it up. All of a sudden, he heard something coming down from the bungalows. To tell you the truth, there has always been a terrible rumor about the open space at the back hill. Some people went over the fence during the holidays or in the daytime. But just standing in the open space made them feel gross. The boy didn’t dare to stay there any longer than needed, so he ran back with the basketball. Ā  running a few steps his ankle was suddenly grabbed by something and he fell to the ground. Looking back, he found a rotten hand coming out of the soil and it had caught his foot. The boy was so frightened that he got up and ran away quickly. He dared not say anything when he got back. He only dared to tell people secretly after a few days.”

“You all know this story?”

“I didn’t before. After somebody’s death, everything came out.”

“After death? The boy is dead?”

“Dead. He was hanged on the basketball frame at the basketball court, facing the back hill space before he died. Our school has the rule of doing group jogging in the morning. We ran around the whole school so many people saw it that day. The school said that the person committed suicide due to too much pressure, but there is no way. This is an evil incident. He must have provoked something unclean in the back hill and got entangled.”

“How can you be sure that he was killed instead of committing suicide?”

“There is a time limit for when the basketball court is open, only the administrative staff have the key to open the basketball court. No one opened the gates for him, so how did he get in? Well, you can say he got in by climbing the fence – but it’s not easy to climb the fence.ā€ The student shrugged his shoulders and added, ā€œThe most important thing was that he didn’t have anything to stand on. So how did he hang himself on the basketball net?ā€

Chen Yang nodded, “it’s really weird. But we can’t rule out the possibility of homicide either. Perhaps the story of the rotten hands was made up by that person. After all, only the deceased was there at the time, so no one really knows.”

“You are right. But the second occult event happened in front of everyone at nine o’clock on Wednesday night, a week ago. There was a sudden blackout in the school. At first the studentsĀ  made a commotion, but when the teacher came, they were all quiet. Then they all heard the sound of high-heeled shoes walking from outside the quiet corridor. Some bold students peeped into the window and saw no one there. But the sound of the high-heeled shoes echoed in the corridor, and then a teacher and the president of the Student Union went out to check and all the students heard the scream of the president.ā€

Kou Xuanling asked, ā€œWhat did he see?ā€

“A pair of red high heels,” Seeing Chen Yang and Kou Xuanling showing disbelief, the male student said, “Really. A pair of red high-heeled shoes stopped in the middle of the corridor, just as the president was holding a flashlight to check. The teachers and students who were close went to see the red high-heeled shoes too. The teacher took the red high-heeled shoes away and it disappeared two days later. Some people said that the pair of red high-heeled shoes were often worn by a female teacher who had committed suicide in school. She loved wearing red high-heeled shoes very much.ā€

After that, the male student shrugged, “who knows whether the rumors were true or not. Anyway, before seeing the red high-heeled shoes, there was no rumor about the suicide of the female teacher in the school. So, that’s mostly made up.”

“And the student union president?”

“Dead.”

Chen Yang and Kou Xuanling looked at each other, a bit shocked. Why did the only two people who had faced the supernatural events die?

“It was a terrible death too.” The male student trembled, and his face was frightened, “The student union president is a good student from class one, and also the daughter of the principal. I’m in class five. I happened to be on leave both times so I haven’t seen the two supernatural events and the death scene. However, I know that those who saw the death of the headmaster’s daughter vomited. The two people who found the president’s body also died on the spot. Tsk, tsk, very bloody.”

“It was two days after the disappearance of the red high heeled shoes that one class had PE. They went back to the classroom after class because they just wanted to turn on the fan – the temperature in the mountains is not too high – unless the temperature reaches 30C, the air conditioning will not be turned on. So the classroom all had big fans installed,” he said, pointing to the ceiling fan with his finger. “It’s more comfortable than the air conditioner if they turn it to the highest strength.”

“The president was dismembered. Her limbs and head were placed on the ceiling fan, but her body trunk was gone. When the class had come back, the students in class one turned on the fan to the maximum level. Some of the stumps were flung down, some on the head of the students, some into their arms. Someone had really bad luc, and received the president’s head with her face towards them. What’s more disgusting is that some people were drinking water, as a result, fingers and eyeballs dropped in… “

Kou Xuanling interrupted the male student whose voice was raising, “please focus on the point.”

ā€œā€¦ā€¦ The point is that the big ceiling fan couldn’t bear the weight of the corpse. It was barely holding on. The fan dropped down and directly embedded itself into the heads of the two students who were scared by the president’s corpse.ā€ The male student raised four fingers, “in a short month, four deaths.”

“Hey, fat guy, are you not going? It’s almost time for the self-study session in the evening.”

The boy’s classmate called him, so he stood up and added, “I also heard that when the president died, she was wearing the disappeared red high-heeled shoes.”

With that, he left with his classmates. When he moved far away, he could hear his classmates complain, “Don’t tell people about the school. If the teacher knows, we will suffer…”

“Do you think what he said is believable?” Kou Xuanling asked Chen Yang.

Chen Yang replied, “he was not there twice and most of it was told by someone else. The president was a student in class one. Let’s ask the students in class one. The red high-heeled shoes and the teacher who committed suicide, I don’t know whether it’s true or not. We will have to find out.”

“I’m going to get familiar with the school environment, and if possible, I’ll go to the back hill first.”

“Sure. Pay attention to safety.”

Chen Yang contacted teacher Li and asked if he could investigate the situation in the teaching building. Teacher Li looked at him indifferently for a long time before he said, “don’t disturb the students’ study.”

Chen Yang frowned slightly, “I will only ask them in my spare time. I won’t disturb the students’ study.” Teacher Li’s attitude was uncomfortable, not because he was indifferent to him, but because when the other party heard Chen Yang’s request, he was not worried about students being stimulated by the events, but afraid of disturbing their study.

It seemed that in the eyes of Teacher Li, learning is the most important thing in life. This attitude is very uncomfortable.

Chen Yang went with teacher Li to the teaching building of the senior students. He first went to the teacher’s office. There were six or seven teachers sitting around the table chatting together in the office. When they saw teacher Li coming in, they became quiet and did not speak until he had returned to his desk. Chen Yang glanced at them and walked to teacher Li’s desk.

Teacher Li’s desk was in the corner, and they couldn’t hear anyone else. Chen Yang looked up. Behind his desk was a window. Outside the window, there was a big, leafy tree. The swaying reflection of the branches fell on the window, creating a terrible atmosphere.

Teacher Li drew the curtains and turned around, “Is there anything else?”

“I want to ask what is the school’s supernatural event? Who was the dead? How did they die? Why did they die?” After a short pause, Chen Yang added, ā€œIf you want me to solve the supernatural incidents in your school, I suggest you don’t hide anything.”

This sentence successfully blocked the idea of Teacher Li’s refusal. After he twisted his eyebrows and pondered for a while, he took out a file from the drawer and handed it to Chen Yang, “it’s all recorded here. You can see for yourself. If you have more questions, ask quickly, I’m going to look at the students in class at seven o’clock.ā€

Chen Yang took the file and skimmed at it quickly. He found that it was similar to what the male student described just now. But there was an omission of the red high-heeled shoes, as well as the sudden appearance of rotten hands grabbing the boy’s ankle in the back hill. He asked, “You said this afternoon that a supernatural event happened in the back hill space. Can you tell me something about that?”

“Was it? Did I say that?” The teacher’s expression did not change, “Yeah, I remembered it wrong. It should be the basketball court. The student died on the basketball court. The way of death is strange.”

Chen Yang looked at teacher Li quietly, his gaze sharp and calm. The latter looked away and said, “Chen Tianshi, you are a Tianshi. You are responsible for catching ghosts and solving the supernatural events in the school to ensure the safety of students.”

“Injustice has its origin, and debt has its owner,” Chen Yang closed the file and handed it back to teacher Li, “There is no difference between killing ghosts and killing living things. Naturally, we can’t kill innocent people indiscriminatelyĀ  And we don’t catch them all just because they were ghosts.”

Teacher Li’s eyes wavered and he took the file back, “It’s just that very few people go to the back hill. It also looks desolate. That’s why the students made up the rumors. I’m going to the class to do a roll call now.ā€

Chen Yang got out of his way, and teacher Li took the attendance book and left. Chen Yang knocked on the desk a few times, then went to the small lounge room where the teachers had a rest. At this time, there were still three teachers sitting in the lounge, two women and one man. When Chen Yang sat down, the two female teachers showed kindness to him, mainly due to his good looks.

Among them, the female teacher surnamed Liu asked, “are you a new teacher?”

“No. I was asked to solve the homicide.”

The three teachers suddenly realized something. One of the female teachers pulled the arm of the male teacher nearby. They got up and said, “Teacher Liu, I’m going to follow the class now. We’ll go first.”

Teacher Liu nodded. After they left, she poured a cup of tea and handed it to Chen Yang, “you want to ask me something.”

Chen Yang was slightly surprised, and then gave a gentle smile, “Mn.”

“Ask.”

“Was there a pair of red high heels at the time of the second murder?”

“Is that what the students told you?” Chen Yang didn’t say anything, but teacher Liu had already guessed, “Teacher Li doesn’t record any supernatural events in his files. He doesn’t believe in them. I will tell you though, there was a pair of red high-heeled shoes, which used to be worn by a female teacher in the school. She liked them very much, and they looked beautiful on her.”

“She killed herself, didn’t she?”

Teacher Liu nodded.

Chen Yang continued, “Why did she commit suicide?”

Teacher Liu was silent and sighed heavily, “at that time, I just came into Jinshui secondary school, and it happened that rumours of the female teacher came out. I heard that she seduced students and embezzled money. She was depressed and committed suicide under the pressure. She committed suicide in the rows of bungalows in the back hill. It’s a miserable death.”

After the incident, teacher Liu went to the scene of the crime. The usually beautiful teacher’s face was purple, her mouth was wide open, deforming her face, and her tongue stretched out to her chest. All her neck bones were broken, and her eyes were wide open, staring at the people who pushed her to death.

“She was wearing red high heels when she died, and when I saw the high heels that night in the corridors, I surmised that she was back.”

“When did she commit suicide?”

“It wasn’t too long ago, just last year.”

Chen Yang frowned and felt that this should not be the case. If one died unjustly, they will only come back for revenge in the first seven days. After the first seven days, if they still want to harm people it’s too short a time for them to cultivate into something with power. Only if the resentment in the heart had not dispersed for decades can a ghost be so fierce, not to mention that the school is clean and has no ghostly auras at all.

“Do you think that the deaths of both were related to the female teacher?”

Teacher Liu, “I don’t know. The high-heeled shoes made me sure that it was the dead female teacher who came back, but both of the dead were students from class one. They usually had good academic results and were very self disciplined. To be honest, they were all good children. If it is the dead female teacher who killed them, I really can’t think of any reason to kill them.”

Chen Yang nodded, “I see. Thank you.”

Teacher Liu waved her hand and said it was OK. She didn’t want the students to have an accident. Then she said she needed to follow her class now. When she got up and walked to the door, she hesitated and said, “Mr. Chen, in fact, what I am most worried about is the students. I’m old already, so I don’t care. I’m not that afraid of death when I’m this old. If you can, I hope you can save all the students.”

Chen Yang smiled and looked at her seriously, “I can’t guarantee that every student will be safe and sound. I can only do my best to protect everyone.”

“Thank you.” After a few seconds of sincere thanks, teacher Liu said, “If… I mean if you really can’t solve the psychic incidents of Jinshui secondary school. I hope you can leave as soon as possible. After all, you don’t have much to do with Jinshui secondary school. I still hope as many people get to live as possible. Haha. Of course, I hope you can find stronger people to save the students after you have left.ā€

Chen Yang looked at teacher Liu quietly, but the latter seemed to be afraid to meet with his calm and clean eyes. She hit herself on the back of her head, then left in a hurry while laughing.

Chen Yang looked down and knew that teacher Liu must have concealed some things as well. But since he was now in Jinshui secondary school, he could always find out what he needed to know himself. After thinking about it, he took out his mobile phone and sent a message to Du Shuo.

Ā He stared at the red circle beside the word ā€˜I miss you’ on the screen, ā€˜The message still can’t be sent out’. It’s too bad. If something happens and they need to call the police, there is no signal. That would be very dangerous.

He murmured a few words and used both his hands to input a lot of shameful love talk, he thought it was very funny. Anyway, there was no signal, so he couldn’t send messages, but when he clicked send anyway he would have the illusion that he had sent the message. Chen Xiao Yang had a good time. When he looked and saw the last message had been sent successfully, his whole person was in a daze.

[Husband, I miss you, I want to see you, I want to XXX with you. ]

Below was a very speedy response: [Wait.]

Chen Yang trembled and entered a long message to explain his joke. He edited a lot of reasonable reasons, and then clicked send. The sending failed. He stared at the shameful message and Du Shuo’s concise reply. Slowly he covered his face and blushed to the point of exploding.

When he put his mobile phone back in his pocket, he touched a piece of paper. He took it out and found it was the three-day blessing charm. Chen Yang instantly understood why the message was sent out successfully.

Chen Yang walked out of the teacher’s office and counted the floors. The fourth or fifth floor of the teaching building is the third year’s classroom. Now they are being used by the students who are going to be promoted to third years in the evening. Class one and class two are on the fifth floor and the remaining three classes are on the fourth floor. The remaining empty classrooms on the fourth and fifth floors were transformed into laboratories.

There is a teacher sitting in each classroom. No one dares to speak in the class. They all sit down and do their homework diligently. That was until he went to class 5 and found some students secretly making some small moves at the back of the class which made Chen Yang feel he was really in a high school.

After a night’s observation, Chen Yang left the teaching building and planned to go to the library to look for materials. Kou Xuanling happened to be walking towards him, so they exchanged their discoveries as they walked into the library.

After listening to Chen Yang’s description, Kou Xuanling said, “I went to see the basketball court first. It seems that the basketball court is locked because of the death. So I climbed up the fence and tried to summon ghosts, but nothing came out. Then I wanted to go to the back hill by walking on the fence. When I finally stood on the open space at the back hill, my Taoist instrument suddenly burned, and then I came to.ā€

“Came to?”

“When I came back to my senses, I found myself bewildered and was standing in the empty open space, digging a hole in the ground. I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have the Taoist instrument. I might have just buried myself alive.”

“Even you were tranced by it.” Chen Yang pondered for a moment and said, “I want to go to the back hill for a look.”

Kou Xuanling said, “Go in the daytime. I didn’t even know what got me in a trance, and I only realized after the fact.”

They entered the library and met the Qiu siblings. When they met, they just nodded and said their greetings,Ā  then they acted separately. IfĀ  one doesn’t don’t pay attention, time will pass quickly. When the broadcast rang outside, the librarian immediately ran to clear people. “Time is up, I need to close the library, you should go back immediately.”

All four were driven out of the library. The librarian turned off the lights and ran out in a hurry to lock the library doors. Seeing them, he asked in surprise, “Why aren’t you going? It’s nearly ten o’clock. The dormitory door will be closed, and no one else can stay in the school.”

Chen Yang, “Let’s go.”

Back in the dormitory building, Chen Yang walked to the door of Room 401. Leaning slightly from this angle, you could see the layout of the teaching building and the student dormitory building. The sound of the broadcast continued, and many students suddenly rushed out of the teaching building and ran back to the dormitory building.

Three minutes before ten o’clock, the campus suddenly returned to tranquility. At ten o’clock, there were no more sounds on campus. The mountain wind blows, driving away the heat and bringing the cool that gradually turned into cold.

Chen Yang went back to the dormitory and spoke to Kou Xuanling about what he just saw. Kou Xuanling was still thinking about the open space in the back hill. When he heard that, he didn’t care much, “maybe it’s the rule of going to bed early to prevent students from staying on campus and being killed.”

Chen Yang looked down and took a bath without saying anything. After washing, he laid in the bed and stared at the message sent out by his mobile phone. He felt quite melancholic. After Kou Xuanling took a bath, he came out to worship his Zushiye. After worshiping, he caught a glimpse of Chen Yang’s bitter expression of hatred expression and asked him what he had done.

“If I say my mobile phone was lost, and it was picked up by someone. And that person sent a weird message to someone in my contacts list, then I picked the phone back up. How believable is that?”

“Why would someone want to send messages to the people you know?” Kou Xuanling lay down in bed and suddenly asked, “Did you send a nasty message to your partner? Asking for money or swearing?”

ā€œā€¦ā€¦ Sleep,” Straight men’s ideas are weird.

Late at night, it was all silent. The minute needle of the big clock atop the administrative building took the last step, to strike 12 o’clock. The whole Jinshui secondary school seemed to be still. Then a drop of water fell, touching the quiet water surface of Jinshui secondary school, and immediately a riot broke out.

Chen Yang suddenly opened his eyes and got up from his single-person bed. On the other side, Kou Xuanling also got up and turned on the lights. They looked at each other for a second. They all walked out of the door and ran to the 401 door to look outside.

“Director Chen, what do you see?”

“Passing Hell soldiers.”

Ugh the case became more and more eerie, but me got curious. What was in the back hills? So scary. Even Kou Xuan Ling got affected.
To be honest, I read this story at night before, just to be the one when the baby ghost child tried to bite Yunna. I got goosebumps! Since then I didn’t dare to read this story at night anymore. 🤣 Just read the Apocalypse. It’s a fun story.
