Chapter 3: The Legend of Fifth Street

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Kiramekineko

The alpha family, whose heads were broken, did not want to give up and planned to barge in, but Zhou Yan suddenly pulled a gun from his waist and hit the shovel held by one of them with a bang.

The shovel had a hole pierced through it, and the crowd was immediately scared to silence—it was said before that Zhou Yan was a mystic. After the sun went down, the entire town was dark, and only his house was lit up, as bright as day. This was something everyone had seen but because he had never seen him cast a spell in public, everyone subconsciously would ignore this matter. This was not a fucking spell though!

Zhou Yan came here, found that there was nothing here, and thought life was very inconvenient, so, from memory, he built a lot of simple equipment: generators, electric lights, refrigerators, electric fans… In addition, he also made some simple thermal weapons, such as guns and explosives… These are the basic equipment used for self-defense, and since Kohl Town was very chaotic, although it was not anarchy, he was a thorn in the side of many people, so he naturally needed to know how to protect himself. But making a mecha was something he could not do. His current conditions were not enough to forge the tough metal to make a mecha’s exoskeleton.

Zhou Yan held up his gun and stared coldly at these people, as smoke floated out from the muzzle of the gun, his face indifferent. The people who came to make trouble were scared out of their wits, and a few had fled. Some of these people were not the family of the alpha, but only there to encourage and covet Zhou Yan’s food, so they took the risk to come along for them to “strengthen the momentum”. Now seeing this situation, they also understood that even if they fought for their lives, they were not his rival. They could not afford to mess with a magician for just a single bag of grain.

They can never afford to mess with a master.

One person escaped, the second lost his courage, so the group of people in front of him ran away one after another, all of them. One man was hiding discreetly, if not accidentally glimpsed, he would have missed him.

How could there be an ambush?

Zhou Yan suddenly lost his patience. He did not bother to call the other party out, just raised his gun and shot. The bullet whooshed directly to the corner where he was hiding, and the man was so scared that he rolled straight out. The man did not look young, fifty years old or so, compared with the ordinary people in Kohl Town, there was no difference in his wrinkled face, and looked like a working person.

Zhou Yan frowned and stared at him, feeling strange, because it did not look like he was with the group just now… Who the hell was this?

Zhou Yan did not speak, but though the man was terrified, he did not run away, and directly jumped over with a thump, kneeling at the feet of Zhou Yan, crying out, “Please let my son go! I will give you anything you want!”

“…” Zhou Yan was baffled by his shouting, why did he sound like he was saying that he had kidnapped his son… Who was his son? “You get up first.”

But the man whimpered and cried out, “No, no, no, I don’t dare. I don’t know how my son has provoked you, I apologize on his behalf. He is usually very obedient, but after all, he is still young, so if he has accidentally offended master, please forgive him once…”

Zhou Yan listened to him—what master, who was his son, he never took anyone ah.

…Wait a minute, he does seem to have a Shortcake-flavored omega hiding in his house right now. Zhou Yan stared at him for a long time and then suddenly asked, “Are you the family of the white cake?”

The old man suddenly stopped crying and looked at Zhou Yan with tears in his eyes, hesitating for a long time before stammering, “I… My son’s name is Bai Yueqing.”

Zhou Yan was a little embarrassed—sorry, he couldn’t remember the stranger’s name very well. “Get up, he’s in the house, I’ll take you to him.”

The old man was a bit hesitant, he didn’t seem to understand why Zhou Yan was so kind—he had just seen Zhou Yan’s tactics—and he was respectful and afraid of him, but the other was suddenly so polite to him, it made him at a loss for words.

Zhou Yan was speechless, speechless and also a little angry. It was clearly he who wrote to “Shortcake’s” family to ask them to come to collect the person, how did it become him kidnapping their son? He exhaled heavily and looked at the old man. “Do you still want to see him? Come in.”

Bai Yueqing’s father hurriedly got up from the ground and followed Zhou Yan into the house. He was very apprehensive, but had to listen to Zhou Yan’s words, until he really saw his son in the house, then he was sure that he was not deceiving him. However, because Bai Yueqing was sedated and was drowsy, the old father was scared half to death and immediately hugged Bai Yueqing and cried, “Son! What’s wrong with you!”

The more he cried, the louder he became, and he was so loud that Zhou Yan’s eyebrows jumped and he shouted, “Shut up! You’ve been crying and shouting like a crow since you saw me, so if you’re afraid, get out now.”

Bai Yueqing’s father had apparently heard a lot of tales about him, and was so frightened by the yelling that he immediately shut up.

Zhou Yan couldn’t stand loud noises, and he got cranky when there was a lot of noise. He covered his forehead and took a few deep breaths, then exhaled heavily, which slowly eased up the pain. “I’m not interested in your son, and I’m not interested in you. He is, however, asleep, so if you don’t want to be thrown out by me, just sit quietly and wait.”

Bai Yueqing’s father, after being yelled at, was honest, his eyes fixed on Zhou Yan, and he slowly sat down on the sofa in a submissive manner. He had been on edge ever since he received that particular kidnapping-like letter, saying “I have your son”, which was a term used by kidnappers, and seeing Zhou Yan’s address made this suspicion even stronger. He carefully checked Bai Yueqing’s condition and was relieved to find that he seemed to be only asleep.

Bai Yueqing’s father sat on the soft sofa and couldn’t help but look around, seeing that every decoration in Zhou Yan’s house was very odd, and there were many things he hadn’t seen before… Rumors said he was a master, in his opinion, he was more like a wizard, very scary looking.

“Zee…”

Suddenly, a mechanical sound came from beneath his feet, Bai Yueqing’s father looked down and was shocked: a small person of only a dozen centimeters was holding a large tray, on the tray was a cup of white curling tea, the small person issued a flat, waveless mechanical voice to him. “Please drink tea—”

It was a toy, but he had never seen a toy that moved and talked!

Bai Yueqing’s father glanced in Zhou Yan’s direction and wondered what the latter was busy with, apparently it wasn’t him who had just spoken. He didn’t want to drink anything here, but he didn’t dare not to take it. After hesitating, he took the cup from the tray and held it in his hand, and the little doll figure held up the tray and left.

…It was amazing, like magic. Zhou Yan was really a mystic, right?

Bai Yueqing’s father was still thinking, when Bai Yueqing also slowly came to his senses, seeing a familiar face, he called out in confusion.

“Dad…?”

Bai Yueqing’s father instantly came back to his senses and hurriedly pressed Bai Yueqing’s shoulders. “Ah Qing! Are you okay? I was scared to death.”

“I’m fine… But why are you here?”

Zhou Yan heard the sound of voices and turned his head to see a reunion of father and son, and was relieved that he didn’t have to share a room with a stranger and try to explain to him that he wasn’t the kidnapper. He was explaining to his father what happened today, and Zhou Yan was satisfied in his heart. This was something he was too lazy to repeat, and “Shortcake” was willing to explain, saving himself the trouble.

“That’s what happened, this gentleman saved me…” Bai Yueqing finished, looked at Zhou Yan with embarrassment and whispered, “I don’t know your name until now.”

Zhou Yan did not say anything, Bai Yueqing’s father hesitated and said, “He is Zhou Yan, Zhou Yan who lives on Fifth Street.”

Bai Yueqing heard these words, and obviously froze. Zhou Yan raised his eyebrows—Zhou Yan who lives on Fifth Street? He was really curious about what the rumors said.

Bai Yueqing was very good at reading people’s opinions and seemed to be afraid of Zhou Yan’s misunderstanding, so he said, “So your name is Zhou Yan, thank you for saving me.”

Zhou Yan saw him secretly pinching his father’s arm,and could not help but want to laugh. Bai Yueqing was worthy of being an omega with a really delicate mind. In fact, he did not care what others thought of him, and did not intend to have too much interaction with this delicate-minded little cutie.

“Since you guys are fine, go home early and don’t stay at my house.”

Bai Yueqing didn’t expect Zhou Yan to open his mouth and shoo people away, and looked at him with some surprise, more or less embarrassed. But Bai Yueqing’s father was very happy and hurriedly pulled Bai Yueqing up. “Yes, yes, don’t bother him, let’s go back.”

He came to the legendary Zhou Yan’s house, his son was not kidnapped, and he could leave safely. What was the difference between this good thing and a pie falling from the sky?

Zhou Yan knew what was in his mind, see, it was good for both of them to leave as soon as possible.

The only one who might have been upset was Bai Yueqing, who, despite being pushed by his father to leave the place, turned back to him and shouted, “I will definitely come to thank you someday!”

…To be honest, Zhou Yan wished he wouldn’t come. An omega out and about without inhibitors was asking for trouble. If there was a slip up and there was trouble, he didn’t feel like getting into trouble.

“Wait a minute,” Zhou Yan finally called Bai Yueqing and handed him a bottle of pink medicine and a syringe. “Next time when you go out, you have to use this first, 2ml each time. Remember the usage.”

Bai Yueqing smiled and remembered the scene when Zhou Yan squeezed his arm and injected him, he couldn’t help but blush again, he hurriedly nodded and followed his father away.

Zhou Yan also did not understand why he did such a thing, perhaps because he thought he would not listen if he directly asked him not to come back.

A white pigeon with a hawk’s head landed in front of Zhou Yan’s window, grooming its feathers meekly. Zhou Yan quickly recognized it as a carrier pigeon and reached out to let it jump onto his wrist and untie the note from its foot.

Zhou Yan only took a glance at it and couldn’t help but smile. It read: what you want, I found it.
