Chapter 6: Reaching an Agreement

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Kiramekineko

Zhou Yan had a lot of flaws, such as a poisonous mouth, indifference, bullying, anti-social tendencies… But he had a very outstanding advantage, that was: his words were true.

He said he would let the black-robed man sleep on the floor for one night, and really let him sleep for one night, during which he even forgot that there was such a person locked in the basement by himself. And Zhou Yan ate a beautiful fried steak, and slept without psychological burden, until eight o’clock in the morning, when he remembered to go to the basement to take a look.

I wonder if the black-robed man had frozen to death.

If he really froze to death, it had nothing to do with himself, he warned him not to lie on the ground again, he himself insisted on lying on the ground, what could he do?

Zhou Yan opened the iron door of the basement and the chains clattered. As he walked in, his long fingers pinched the nearly empty bottle of glucose, adjusted the speed of the drip, and when he looked up, his gaze collided with the sight of the black-robed man.

Zhou Yan was silent for a moment, and curled his lips towards him, his tone was provocative. “I’m sorry to see you’re still alive.”

The black-robed man looked at him calmly. “This is the second time you’re regretting that I am still alive.”

Zhou Yan gave a light hum. “But I think you’re probably going to die soon, sleeping on a cold floor all night, it feels good, right?”

A normal person sleeping on the floor all night in this weather would freeze to death or become seriously ill. In this day and age, a small cold could be fatal. He did not believe this guy’s life force would be so tenacious.

The black-robed man was silent for a while and slowly spoke, “If you want me to die so badly, why don’t you just kill me? It should be easy for you.”

There was a very simple way to kill him, add some ingredients to the IV, or move the scalpel a little faster, or even just adjust the suspension time of the IV. If the bottle of glucose was empty and no one came to change it, his blood would be sucked into the glass bottle because of the negative pressure, and he would die silently in the second half of the night.

The black-robed man saw Zhou Yan did not say anything and laughed lightly. “Oh, I remember, it’s because of the McMahon Treaty, right? It seems that because of this treaty, you can’t just kill people.”

Zhou Yan didn’t expect him to remember the thing he casually mentioned, and even associate it with that aspect, he was a little surprised. It seems that this one was not that stupid.

But this “Tear of the Times” seemed to have caught Zhou Yan’s weakness and kept on talking, “Let me guess what will happen if you violate this treaty. You don’t seem to care much about other people’s lives, so it can only be about your life.” He stared straight at Zhou Yan, a pair of cold, dark eyes that seemed to be able to see through the deepest nastiness of the human heart. “Will you die?”

Zhou Yan happened to finish what he was doing, and when he heard him say it, his reaction was still very calm. He walked over and took a deep breath, gently lifted the hem of his white coat, and squatted down beside him. “I would like to remind you of one thing, you are still in my hands, and can not resist.”

The black robed man’s tone said he didn’t care. “So?”

Zhou Yan stared at him coldly. “The McMahon Treaty does not oblige me to lend a hand to a dying man. I could throw you out right now. You can talk so well, you are so energetic, you won’t die even if you are thrown out, right?”

The black-robed man stared at Zhou Yan for a while, and surprisingly, he gave in. He said in a tone of voice as if he knew him very well, “You are very angry today. If you don’t want to hear it, I won’t say anything, so why get angry?”

Zhou Yan stared at him. Although his face seemed calm, his heart surged with a nameless fire. This fire went from his chest all the way to his eyes. What made Zhou Yan more furious was that he felt that the black robed man could also feel his anger. He looked at him playfully, as if he found something interesting.

The problem really lies in this guy, this black-robed man was so uncooperative when he first arrived at his house yesterday, but just slept on the cold floor all night, and suddenly he became so compromising? Was it because he had learned his lesson? No… He should not be the type to compromise for fear of being “thrown out”, why on earth would he give in?

Zhou Yan could not understand, but clearly felt the black-robed man’s “concessions” were to his own disadvantage, and was very unhappy. Zhou Yan took several deep breaths. He could not let himself fall into that kind of emotion, and if he thought about something that could not be understood, it would only be a waste of time.

Zhou Yan adjusted his emotions, then reached out and grabbed the black-robed man’s shoulders, trying to pull him up from the ground. This time the black-robed man was very cooperative, so Zhou Yan easily pulled him up.

He was once again thrown onto the operating table by Zhou Yan, who was half leaning on the table, looking at Zhou Yan without blinking. “Maybe you’re right, I’m a little uncomfortable.”

Look, his senses were not wrong, something must have happened to this man overnight, he had even become different in his eyes, becoming more annoying. But he was outwardly polite and courteous, and it was reasonable for Zhou Yan not to scold him.

Zhou Yan glanced at him irritably. “That’s why I said you’re dying.”

He reached out his hand and touched his palm to the black-robed man’s forehead—he really had a fever.

Zhou Yan just wanted to say something, but saw the black-robed man’s surprised expression, he paused for a moment and asked, “What are you surprised about?”

The other party’s surprised expression only lasted for a few seconds, and soon he looked at Zhou Yan’s hand. “Few people are willing to touch this face.”

Zhou Yan subconsciously followed his line of sight to look at his own hand—this hand was very beautiful, long and white, but very strong—the beautiful hand suitable for holding a scalpel, and the black robed man’s ugly face put together, was a stark contrast. Zhou Yan twisted his fingers and rubbed them together, frowning at what he was thinking.

The black-robed man suddenly turned his head slightly sideways, his voice like a demonic whisper. “You are also very disgusted with it, want me to die quickly. Why do you want to suppress your impulse again?”

Zhou Yan faintly glanced at him. “Are you inferior to your own face?”

The black-robed man didn’t say anything, and a normal person might really take his reaction as an inferiority complex, but Zhou Yan had a feeling that he thought this man should not care much about his face—at least not because of it, but like the kind of vicious pervert who would be happy to scare others because of his face.

“You think too much, I want you to die not because you are ugly, I simply want to dissect you.” Zhou Yan stared at him seriously. “The medical field does not distinguish between beauty and ugliness, if you are killed by me one day, it will certainly not be because of this face, but because of your bad character.”

The black-robed man froze for a moment and then suddenly laughed. “Funny, you’re really funny.”

Zhou Yan did not think any sentence was funny enough to poke the black-robed man’s laughing point like this. Could it be that after so many years, the god of humor finally favored him, he learned to joke in the underworld?

The black-robed man laughed enough before he slowly spoke, “In that case, have you thought of a win-win way? You saved my life, I can help you solve the puzzle.”

Zhou Yan didn’t respond for a moment. “What do you mean?”

“Aren’t you curious about me? For example, why do I have flames on my body? Where do those flames come from…? I can tell you all the things you want to know. But the premise is that you have to cure me.”

Zhou Yan pondered the feasibility of the matter. “I thought you weren’t afraid of death.”

The black-robed man shrugged. “No one is not afraid of death.”

Zhou Yan thought about it and nodded his head in agreement. “Deal. I will do my best to treat you. But we don’t know your physical condition yet, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be cured.”

This was exactly what he wanted, the amount of information you get from dissecting a corpse was after all limited; if he himself was willing to cooperate and use some information in exchange, this was worth more in Zhou Yan’s opinion.

The black-robed man was very generous. “I know, life and death have a destiny, I do not force things.”

Zhou Yan subconsciously frowned. This person was very strange, he had a kind of fear of death and saw through the tangled sense of life and death, so people could not evaluate him. But Zhou Yan was more curious about what happened to him: he clearly saw his whole body on fire, but when he checked his body, he did not find any signs of burns on his body. Even if it was phosphorus burning, the flame produced was enough to make him appear burnt.

Zhou Yan again reached over and touched the black-robed man’s forehead, which seemed hotter than just now.

…He was a bit regretful last night that he threw this on the floor. He was too impulsive, and now he had a fever, but still had to take the trouble to cure him.

Zhou Yan withdrew his hand and raised his jaw towards the black-robed man. “Can you walk now?”

The black-robed man said he could not help. “My condition is only a little better than yesterday.”

Zhou Yan sighed deeply and turned his back on him. “Come here, I’ll carry you.”

“Where to?”

Zhou Yan stared at him sideways. “Of course up, the basement is damp and cold, not good for recovery.”

The black-robed man gave a low laugh again. “Okay, then you have to help me.”

He was so close to him when he spoke that Zhou Yan’s ears tingled from the low, gorgeous voice, and he couldn’t help but shiver. He hated it when people spoke against his ear! 1He hurriedly grabbed the black-robed man and pulled him toward him, taking advantage of his falling down to put his back against him and catch him completely on top of himself.

“…You’re heavy!” Zhou Yan thought he was very strong, but it was still a little hard to carry the black-robed man. He was lying on his shoulders, and now his mouth was right next to Zhou Yan’s ear.

When he heard him complain, the black-robed man said softly, “I am very sorry.”

Although, from his voice, there was no sincere apology, he at least said it.

Zhou Yan’s ears began to itch again, he hurriedly called out, “Forget it, don’t talk.”

He grabbed the black-robed man’s trouser belt and turned it upward twice, then headed for the stairway. In fact, because last night the man was wearing a black robe, his weight was not very obvious. Now he carried him to find that the man was very tall, so when carrying him, his toes could still touch the ground—no wonder he was so heavy. The black-robed man was even taller than him, like 190 cm or more.

…The ideal height of the alpha, suddenly a little jealous of what happened.

The black-robed man did not look fat, but he was so heavy, there could only be one possibility, that was, his muscle density was very high. At the peak of the military academy, Zhou Yan was actually similar, but then turned into a civilian, had more work in the field of scientific research, so he could only gradually slim down.

So the same reasoning inferred that this black-robed man should be doing a physical occupation. Look at him, there was a high probability that he was…a mercenary or something?

“You’re sweating.”

Zhou Yan was climbing up the stairs when he suddenly heard the person behind him say something that immediately raised a layer of goose bumps on the sensitive skin behind his ears, provoking him to almost throw the person away.

Zhou Yan was naturally sensitive to sound, the area around his neck was a forbidden area no one was allowed to touch, and it was very unbearable to have someone talking in his ears. But Zhou Yan couldn’t say it, it would look unprofessional to him.

The black robed man seemed to have found something interesting. From his angle, he could see the red skin on the back of Zhou Yan’s neck, spreading out from under the high collar sweater, especially eye-catching. He gave a low laugh, and his gorgeous bass sounded like a piece of silk, drilling straight into Zhou Yan’s ears.

Zhou Yan held on to the wall and grit his teeth as he took a step up. “Shut up…”

Damn it, he must make an elevator between the basement and the bedroom! He was a pain in the ass to carry.

The black-robed man’s head was hanging right next to Zhou Yan’s ear, and he sighed softly. “Am I that heavy? I’m so sorry, it’s been hard on you.”

“…” How come the more I tell him to shut up, the more bullshit he talks? Was this person doing this on purpose?

He reminds me of Lang Hancock from Australia. A rich tycoon who was really ugly but, had a most beautiful voice….I reckon when you look at an ugly person long and often enough, he doesn’t look that bad after a while😉
