Zhou Yan had a bad feeling on the road and ran back furiously along the way, but he didn’t expect he was still a step too late. He saw Lurians running all over the place, and the receptors on A1 were screaming like crazy, and the shrill alarms made Zhou Yan more and more agitated. Luo Futu had already gone out from the mecha pod and stood on top of A1 to help Zhou Yan fight together.
After killing a few Lurians, Zhou Yan felt the A1’s movements become sluggish, which he knew was due to the limitations of the mecha itself.
Then he witnessed Gabriel being torn apart by a Lurian.
The Lurian first tore Gabriel’s mecha pod apart with its claws, and then hooked Gabriel out with a light hook of its claws. Half of Gabriel’s head was bitten off, and red and white sprayed out on the Lurian’s face…
Zhou Yan hoped he was wrong, or rather, he was overly worried and saw the image he imagined. But when he ran to Gabriel and caught his blood-stained body, Zhou Yan realized that it was all true.
Luo Futu was also shocked by this change, he sacrificed a huge boundary to protect Gabriel and Zhou Yan together inside the boundary, swarms of Lurians hit the boundary outside, but Luo Futu only raised one hand and expanded the boundary again, those Lurians could not go further.
But Zhou Yan no longer cared about that, he hugged Gabriel, one hand tightly covering his head half of it missing, almost unable to speak.
Gabriel looked at Zhou Yan blankly and let out a deep breath, “You’re back… Great.”
Zhou Yan covered his wound and spoke quickly to comfort him, “It’s okay, it’s okay, I’ll bandage your wound.”
Luo Futu heard the voice, looked back at him, frowned, and turned his head back – just one look was all he needed to know that Gabriel was hopeless.
Gabriel also seemed to understand his condition, his head was half gone, it was a miracle that he could hold on until now, it was impossible to live again. He grabbed Zhou Yan and stared at him with wide eyes, “No, I just want to ask… I just want to ask you, do I… count as a hero now?”
Zhou Yan heard these words, finally could not hold back, his nose suddenly felt sour, tears poured down his face. His expressionless face shedding tears was a bit weird, but Zhou Yan felt that he had lost control, his tears were simply flowing down without his permission.
Gabriel didn’t hear his answer and tried to ask again, “Does it count?”
“Yes.” Zhou Yan looked at Gabriel and nodded his head as hard as he could to affirm him, “Of course it counts, you are a hero.”
Zhou Yan said, while tears fell like a dike had been breached, he wanted to say something else, but then lowered his head, but found that Gabriel had closed his eyes, no longer moving. He went quickly, asking Zhou Yan that question, seemingly exhausted the last bit of energy, after getting his affirmation, he was relieved to go.
Zhou Yan, who had not yet reacted, hugged Gabriel and shook him a little, calling him softly, “Gabriel.”
Zhou Yan seems to have been cast a fixation spell, his whole body is confused, rationally he also knew Gabriel would not answer him again, but still couldn’t help but call his name again, “Ga…”
“He’s gone.”
“…”
Luo Futu, who had been paying attention to Zhou Yan’s side, could not help but interrupt Zhou Yan, who looked sideways with a rare serious expression on his face, “Zhou Yan, he’s gone.”
Zhou Yan was at a momentary loss of words, he maintained the action of holding Gabriel crouched there, did not speak and did not move, and did not look at Luo Futu, as if any sound in the world could not reach him.
Luo Futu could feel Zhou Yan’s grief and anger – more like sadness, his raging sadness mixed with remorse and shame, which was fully felt by Luo Futu through the link between them, almost overwhelming him. “There are so many Lurians out there, your battle is not over yet.”
Zhou Yan finally reacted, he held Gabriel gently on the side, and then climbed on the A1, Luo Futu could see that he was not in the right state, but did not stop Zhou Yan, he knew he needed to vent at this time, and fighting the Lurians, the monsters that killed Gabriel, was the best way to vent.
A1’s eyes lit up like two searchlights, Luo Futu tacitly put away the boundary, Zhou Yan then drove A1 immediately rushed out, Luo Futu stood there, his eyes followed A1, he sighed deeply in his heart – things were troublesome.
If anyone had seen what happened next, he would have been dumbfounded. It was as if Zhou Yan’s mecha had truly come to life, charging into mid-air and chasing after the Lurians, slashing and killing them with such agility that it didn’t look like a puppet being driven. Luo Futu was worried about Zhou Yan’s inability to control the mecha in his rage, so he stayed behind to assist him, but to his surprise, almost none of the Lurians were able to dodge Zhou Yan’s killing moves.
The Lurians, after realizing the power of Zhou Yan, didn’t just fight him anymore, but gathered in a group and rushed towards him, seemingly wanting to take advantage of their numbers.
Zhou Yan controlled the mecha and raised his upper limbs high and slammed them into the head of a Lurian, but A1 then stumbled forward, and its rear shell was slammed into by a Lurian from behind, almost knocking Zhou Yan out of the sky. Lurian was ejected and Zhou Yan was floating in mid-air with A1, looking around confusedly, seemingly not understanding why this happened. It was only when Luo Futu flew up from below and hovered in front of A1 that Zhou Yan realized that Luo Futu had helped.
Luo Futu kept floating to the front of the mecha pod, and he shook looking at Zhou Yan and said, “It’s over, stop.”
Luo Futu’s voice was like a chime that jolted Zhou Yan awake, and he looked around and saw no more Lurians around. The two of them slowly descended together and landed on the ground. Zhou Yan walked out of A1’s body in silence, stumbled and almost tripped, and Luo Futu hurriedly helped him, “Be careful.”
Zhou Yan’s face was not good, he did not look at Luo Futu, only nodded slightly, and then pushed him away, indicating that he understood.
The miners who were hiding behind the Dragon Rock heard the silence outside and pulled it up and crowded to the door to see Gabriel’s body, which they saw at a glance as it lay outside the cave, half of Gabriel’s head bitten off in a gruesome manner.
Then there was silence.
Li Qing came out from behind the crowd, he saw Gabriel’s body, clenched his fists tightly, his eyes were cracked, he seemed to be unable to believe what was happening in front of him, wanted to go forward to confirm, but did not dare to go forward easily, because once touching the truth, even self-deception would be useless.
Zhou Yan looked at all this, watching the crowd’s reaction, feeling like an outsider. He suddenly couldn’t feel anything anymore. When he first saw Gabriel’s body, he still felt heartache, but now he couldn’t even feel heartache, and he couldn’t even shed tears.
Sadness cannot describe Zhou Yan’s mood at this time, that word was too simple.
The first person to run to Gabriel’s corpse was Lucy, she was still young and did not know what death was all about, she just saw Gabriel’s body was covered in blood, so she lay on him and wiped his blood, her mouth was still shouting “Gabe, Gabe”. He just felt that if he stayed here any longer, he might suffocate.
“Let’s go, Li Qing is here to handle it, you’re tired, let’s go back first.”
Luo Futu’s voice seemed far away, Zhou Yan stood outside the crowd, staring at Gabriel through the gap between the people, and did not respond for a long time. Luo Futu frowned at him, and then looked in the direction where Gabriel was lying, suddenly bent down and directly picked Zhou Yan up horizontally, turned around and walked towards their room.
This would normally be rejected by Zhou Yan, in front of so many people, he didn’t want to be hugged like this, but he didn’t react this time, one hand was loosely on Luo Futu’s neck, his eyes were still fixed on Gabriel’s direction, allowing him to take himself away.
“Zhou Yan…. . Zhou Yan, don’t look, good boy. You’re tired, close your eyes and sleep for a while.” Luo Futu saw him like this and couldn’t help but speak out to persuade him, but Zhou Yan seemed to be completely deaf to his voice and just looked at Gabriel’s direction in a daze, his body was clearly blocked by the crowd, but Zhou Yan still couldn’t move his eyes away. He couldn’t ignore his presence, his death.
Luo Futu called out to him a few more times, Zhou Yan was still the same reaction, he had no choice, blew a breath towards Zhou Yan’s face, the stars of light drifted past it, Zhou Yan’s face became a trance, and then closed his eyes, head tilted on Luo Futu’s shoulder and fell asleep.
Luo Futu looked at him and sighed deeply, “Go to sleep, you really need to rest.”

Ohhhh Noooo Gabe died gruesomely 😭😭😭
I was shocked by Gabriel’s death, I just hope the family doesn’t blame ZY. Thank you for the chapter!!!
I knew at the back of my head Gabriel definitely gonna be a ‘true hero’ but I subconsciously didn’t want to believe it because ZY and LF were there to support him. But arghhhh. My heart hurt. Especially because unlike others, I liked his character since he was first introduced. Gabe!!! Oh Lucy, ZY 😭.
That’s so unfair. I did not expect Gabriel to die 😢
Anger and grief are powerful emotions; poor ZY.
Thank you both for the chapter.
