Lin Nuo sat at Rennes’ desk, diligently working on his assignments, marking his second day living at Rennes’ house. Last night, after Rennes explained everything, Lin Nuo grabbed the sheet again, barefoot, and followed Rennes to the small living room. “But what about my classes?”

Rennes, already stepping out of the room, hadn’t expected this as Lin Nuo’s first reaction. He hesitated and asked, “Classes?”

Lin Nuo vigorously nodded. “Yes, yes! Didn’t I schedule a full curriculum? I still have so much to learn to fulfill my ‘wish’!”

Supporting himself against the door frame, Rennes lowered his head in silence for a while and said, “I’ll teach you.”

Moving forward a couple of steps, Lin Nuo skeptically said, “So many, so many courses…”

Etiquette, history, rhetoric, mathematics…

Sighing, Rennes said, “Your Highness’s courses, I can teach them all.”

Scratching his head, Lin Nuo remembered scenes of Rennes tutoring him on political speeches in the carriage and Count Kaunitz’s appraisal of Rennes. He thought this person probably knew everything—except dancing. Thus, he no longer worried about this matter. As for sleeping in the adjacent room to Rennes, since the journey to obtain the crystal had been like this, as long as they weren’t sharing a room, it shouldn’t be a problem. Lin Nuo felt reassured.

Shortly after, the steward brought clothes, supper, and led Lin Nuo to the adjacent guest room. The room was a bit smaller than Rennes’ and had a different layout. It was a square room with a bay window, a connected bathroom, but lacked a study and a small living room. The bed, carpet, and tapestry in the guest room matched Rennes’ room, exuding the same comfortable and soft color scheme.

After the steward warmly, yet not overly eagerly, introduced the room, Lin Nuo didn’t see Rennes again. Unable to resist, he asked, “Where’s Sir Clement?”

The steward replied with a friendly smile, “Sir is resting in the meditation room downstairs. If Your Highness wishes to see Sir, he will come out immediately.”

Lin Nuo frowned slightly. “Meditation room?”

The steward explained, “Yes, when Sir desires absolute peace without any disturbance, he stays in the meditation room.”

Lin Nuo blinked. “So you said if I wanted to see him, he would come out?”

The steward inclined slightly and said with a smile, “Your Highness, for you, anytime.”

Lin Nuo shook his head. “No need. I’ll wait here… no, I’ll rest in my own room.”

Though Lin Nuo had initially planned to eavesdrop on any activity in the corridor and then casually come out, see if Rennes was alright, or exchange a few words, maybe because of exhaustion, he sat on the small sofa in his room and immediately fell asleep, only waking up the next morning when Rennes knocked on the door.

Lin Nuo jumped up from the sofa and opened the door himself. Seeing Lin Nuo, properly dressed but with slightly disheveled hair, and a quick glance at the perfectly made bed, Rennes asked, “Your Highness, why didn’t you sleep well?”

Following Rennes’ gaze to the neatly arranged bed, Lin Nuo hurriedly said, “I did sleep, just on the sofa.”

Rennes frowned. “On the sofa?”

Not wanting to tell him that he had been waiting for him and fell asleep, Lin Nuo stumbled, “Um, was thinking on the sofa, and then fell asleep…”

Hearing this, Rennes said, “Your Highness has been overly tired these days, so feeling extra fatigue is normal.”

“So,” Rennes turned serious, “Your Highness must pay attention to your rest, understood?”

Initially nodding in panic, Lin Nuo remembered something and blurted out, “You should also—Teacher, you should also take care of yourself.”

Rennes raised the corner of his mouth, ran his hand through Lin Nuo’s hair, gently smoothing the unruly strands, and softly said, “I haven’t overexerted or accumulated as many worries as Your Highness has.”

What, accumulated worries! Overexertion!Ā  Maybe these were entirely normal terms, but accompanied by the warm breath near Lin Nuo’s ear and the gentle yet sometimes firm touches on his fingers during that evening in the garden, along with the words whispered softly—

Yes, this person said, “Your Highness, there are quite a few accumulated worries…”

Therefore, whenever Lin Nuo heard those words, he inexplicably blushed deeply.

Seemingly oblivious to Lin Nuo’s embarrassment, Rennes said calmly, “Your Highness, are you ready for breakfast?”

With that, Rennes didn’t wait for Lin Nuo and went downstairs. Blushing, Lin Nuo followed him to the dining room on the ground floor.

The dining room was arranged just like before, but the spot where the little dragon used to sit was now reserved for the human Lin Nuo. After Lin Nuo sat down, he found a large glass of milk and a glass of sparkling water in front of him. Besides these, there were no juices, coffees, black teas, or hot chocolate.

Frowning, Lin Nuo wondered why there were so many drink options when the little dragon had breakfast here, but now his only choice was milk. He immediately pushed this dissatisfaction aside, remembering how smooth and delicious the milk in Rennes’ house was, and how much he had liked it when he was in dragon form.

Observing the little prince with white milk foam on his lips, occasionally using his tongue to wipe it clean, Rennes set down his coffee cup, picked up the nearby sparkling water, and added some ice cubes.

Huh? Lin Nuo witnessed this scene and couldn’t help but feel curious: Last night, this person was drinking ice water excessively. Why is he drinking ice water again now?

During breakfast together previously, Lin Nuo hadn’t noticed his strong preference for ice water. Lin Nuo wiped the foam off his lips with a napkin and carefully observed Rennes sitting on the other side. Hmm… there are still dark circles under his eyes, and his face seems abnormally flushed?

Lin Nuo had never seen Rennes with this complexion before. Recalling yesterday when he was resting his head on Rennes’ chest, it seemed like his body temperature was slightly higher than usual? Could it be that he’s running a fever? After days of accumulating fatigue, has he finally fallen ill?

At the thought, Lin Nuo couldn’t help feeling anxious and hurriedly asked, “Teacher, are you… feeling unwell?”

Rennes set down his cup, with an enigmatic expression in his eyes, looked at Lin Nuo and said, “No.”

Lin Nuo bit his lip and said, “But… your complexion doesn’t look good, and you’ve been drinking ice water. Isn’t it because of a fever?”

Rennes lowered his head, chuckled softly, and once again said, “No. Alright, Your Highness, don’t worry about these boring questions. Weren’t you concerned about your coursework yesterday?” While speaking, Rennes handed over a stack of papers, saying, “I’ve organized today’s assignments for Your Highness. Please start on these. If you have any questions, use your personal crystal to call me.”

With that, Rennes stood up and left the table. Lin Nuo looked at the papers but thought: It seems like the teacher only drank a glass of ice water for breakfast? Is his body really okay?!

Lin Nuo could only follow Rennes’ instructions, clutching the stack of papers and returning to the second floor, sitting at Rennes’ desk and diligently starting the homework.

As he wrote, Lin Nuo suddenly paused, realizing something: There should be that book on the shelf, “Saros’ Past Glory — Mysterious Creatures Lost in History.” Besides the “Flame Beast,” what other mystical creatures disappeared?

Lin Nuo was filled with curiosity. While Rennes wasn’t in the room, Lin Nuo walked to the bookshelf, stood on tiptoe, and took down the thick book from the highest shelf. Then, he spread the book out on the desk and was about to flip it open when…

“Your Highness!” Rennes’ voice rang out from behind him.

Lin Nuo’s hand trembled, almost dropping the book. “Teacher!”

Rennes strode over, glanced at the book on the desk that hadn’t been opened yet, frowned, and said, “Why hasn’t Your Highness been diligently doing your homework?”

Lin Nuo swallowed hard, saying, “I… uh, I felt a bit tired, so I… just casually looked at your bookshelf. Then, I saw the title of this book, and I found it very interesting…”

Lin Nuo said this while unconsciously pinching his ear and avoiding eye contact with Rennes. Without further inquiry, Rennes picked up the book and sat on the bed, beckoning Lin Nuo to come and sit beside him. Lin Nuo hesitated for a moment but obediently sat beside Rennes.

Rennes opened the book on his lap and said, “Since Your Highness is interested, I’ll show you my favorite ‘pet.'”

Favorite pet? Lin Nuo felt his breathing get a bit erratic, and there was an inexplicable sense of grievance. The ‘little pet’ that was by your side last time, how come you didn’t mention you liked it then? Instead, you frequently talked about how it would be better if it were a cat…

Similar to when dragon-form Lin Nuo and Rennes read together last time, Rennes flipped to the page about the “Flame Beast” and said, “I only found out a couple of days ago that this little pet is called a ‘Flame Beast.’ I also learned from this book that ‘Flame Beasts’ have a mating season.”

Seeing this, Rennes shifted his gaze away from the book and looked at the plane tree outside the window, sighing, “I wonder if that little pet found its preferred mate and successfully passed the mating season…”

Lin Nuo’s face turned red. In his mind, the little pet barely managed to get through the mating season, and its success in doing so depended on your ‘help in solving problems.’ I wonder why, even though it’s a dragon, the preferred mate turned out to be you. I have no idea why my human form is completely affected by the dragon form and even experiences mating urges. It’s simply shameful.

*Cough* Too afraid to raise his head, Lin Nuo could only stare at the words in the book, pretending to be engrossed in reading. Hmm, the content written in the book was almost the same as what Rennes had previously read. There was nothing new. This time, his gaze lingered on the phrase “If the Flame Beast you’re raising continuously fails to enter the roaring stage, or if there’s a brief stagnation when transitioning to the roaring stage, you can let the Flame Beast play with its preferred mate or engage in intimate contact, and repeatedly perform such actions.”

This passage only mentioned that intimate contact with the ‘preferred mate’ could stimulate the Flame Beast’s growth, but it didn’t mention what would happen to the ‘preferred mate.’

Last time, Lin Nuo had been fixated on his own ‘mating urges,’ but this time, he thought more deeply. He thought about the ‘praying mantis.’ During mating, one of them consumes the other for sufficient nutrients. Not only the mantis, but some octopuses do the same. So, would the little dragon absorb energy from the ‘preferred mate’ to gain enough evolution energy?!

If that’s the case, could Rennes’ exhaustion, bloodshot eyes, dark circles, and fever all be because of me?! Because I couldn’t control myself, driven by the desires of the dragon form, and engaged in intimate contact with him?! How much have I wronged him?!

Author’s Note:

Rennes: Did I just dig myself into a hole?!
