Chapter 244: The ducks were still young

Bai Li divided the “Duck Catching Contest” into three types of play, each of which could be challenged five times a day.

The first one was the basic version. Duck catching without adding anything. A round of 30 to 50 players could participate in the game. According to the registration time, they would be automatically assigned to enter a game site. Players needed to listen to the system prompts to catch the ducks, and if the number of ducks caught within the specified time was correct, they would get a points reward, or vice versa, no points.

It should be noted that the special color of each duck represented a different number. For example, to catch the black duck counted as two, the golden duck counted as five, while the green duck was a deduction of one. In the venue, in addition to the normal colors of ducks, there were another seven kinds of ducks, but players needed to formally enter the game before carefully memorizing the number of their respective representatives, or it would be quite difficult.

The last two were single player versions.

The second was the Cosmic Wanderer version and the Interstellar take on Fruit Ninja. Lu Hui’s version of this game was also a second life. In this mode, players entered a separate space and were faced not with complete ducks, but with duck feathers of various colors.

What they had to do was to cut as many duck feathers floating down from the sky as possible within the time limit. Their knife had to cut 3 or more duck feathers of the same color to count. A higher number of duck feathers of the same color in tandem would also result in special titles, which would also add corresponding points at the end of the game.

These titles included, but were not limited to, “That’s what you do” (3), “That’s it?” (4), “Finally, you’re good” (5), “Keep up the good work” (6)…

The above were all provided by the game developer of Cosmic Wanderer, Lu Hui, and Bai Li didn’t have the heart to say when he thought about the titles. However it didn’t seem to be a bad thing. Bai Li passed on the titles submitted by the other party after only a little bit of agitation.

The last one was the Victorious Sound Wave version of Catch the Duck. This game was also modified at Bai Li’s suggestion. The previous “output by roar” came through the changes as well as stepping on the monster damage. Putting this into the “duck catching contest” event was a little strange but also more odd fun.

The players would get a golden trumpet and a large group of ducks at the starting point when they enter the independent space. What they had to do was to protect this large group of ducks and return them to their duck nest safely. Along the way, they would encounter all kinds of difficulties, traps, roadblocks, beasts that would try to take the ducks, and even difficult terrain such as fast rivers and muddy quagmires that were difficult to navigate.

Whenever someone encountered something that hindered their progress, the system would give them a melody, and the player would either hum or hiss the melody through the trumpet, then the system would score the specific effect of that melody to help the poor ducks who wanted to go home. At the end of the day, the number of ducks that made it back to the nest was the total number of points the player could earn.

After adding these three games in the virtual reality game builder, Bai Li gave himself permission to experience them in turn.

The first one was mainly physical, with more players in the same round, it would also test physical dexterity. After all, the game didn’t restrict players from snatching ducks already caught by others.

The second game was about concentration of the brain. You needed to be highly focused in order to get a higher score. As for the third game, well…It may also need a little musical talent? However, considering that Interstellar People rarely come into contact with music and had a high percentage of tone-deaf people, Bai Li only required them to find the right rhythm and step on the melody, even if they barely met the requirements.

As for the result, he had to wait for the players to really start playing to see what would happen.

The Village Chief recited all the rules of the game in one breath. The players listened to the unknown, and cold sweat slowly slipped down their foreheads. They always felt as if LiLi had given them a big problem. The first basic game of catching ducks sounds the easiest, the next two…was it really not torturing them, QAQ?

However, Interstellar People never admitted defeat. Even if their hearts were at rock bottom, they wouldn’t show it the slightest bit on the surface, as they went about with confident smiles on their faces. Once the old Village Chief’s voice died down, there was already someone yelling ā€œWho wants to go in for the first try?ā€

What were they waiting for? They should go straight in and play. Go rush those ducks!

Night Snow is Serene and Cold was a player who entered the game in March, and in last month’s Vegetable Grabbing Battle activity, she successfully won the final victory, and not only got the title of “King of Vegetable Grabbing,” but also got her grandfather a place in the game.

Now that her grandfather was playing the game very happily, the sadness in her heart dispersed and the once cold, imperial sister now also had a faint gentleness around her. In last month’s event, the most impressive thing was her flexible and light body, which freely shuttled between rooftops and buildings, and could do so without being noticed by people on the ground. In this month’s event, her body technique should also play a key role.

At the very least in the first game.

Night Snow is Serene and Cold went up, negotiated with the Village Chief, and completed the registration. The players of the village with her saw what she was trying and so they didn’t hesitate and all ran to sign up. Because they weren’t sure about the last two modes of play, and because they were single-player modes, almost all players chose the first one.

At this point in time, the number of players was at its highest, and soon the game started in rounds, with a group of 50 players disappearing from the spot with each blink of an eye.

Night Snow is Serene and Cold was the first to be transported there. After the familiar trance, there was a huge duck farm in sight, the terrain was roughly a square with a side length of 50 meters. Surrounded by dense fences, the flat ground was filled with ducks lounging around. Most of them were of the most common colors, with seven other colors not quite evenly distributed among them.

Looking at the ducks on the ground, Night Snow is Serene and Cold had a dark look in her eyes, recalling the number of ducks represented by each color. In particular, those colors that would remove points, no matter what, she wouldn’t catch them.

She was surrounded by new players who didn’t, like she did, stand still and carefully observe the surroundings. As soon as they entered, those players were like ducks that had become refined and started to run all over the place.

While they ran, they were also learning the ducks’ calls, “quack quack quack!ā€ It was close to arguing with the ducks. Not only did the originally quiet ducks immediately charge to the flock then flutter their wings and fly, but they also tried to get over the railing to get outside the duck farm. Of course, the latter did not make it as the map of activities only included the duck farm.

When the excitement of the players finally passed, the game also entered the final countdown to three seconds.

At the end of the countdown, a fat lady suddenly appeared in the duck farm, claiming to be the owner of the duck farm. The night before last, the duck farm was suddenly hit by high winds, and the duck house was blown apart. Originally, there were thousands of ducks living in the duck house but they were scared and scattered all over the place. She needed players to help her catch all those ducks.

In return, she would give the players who helped to catch the ducks a certain reward.

The players had always been the masters of not seeing the rabbit and also missing the hawk. With the knowledge that every game could be rewarded with points, they also expected the owner of the duck farm would give them additional rewards, so they each agreed more positively than the last.

Sensing the enthusiasm of the players, the older woman cheerfully laughed out loud and said, “So we’ll start now!”

“In 30 seconds, please help me catch 7 ducks.” After listing the first round of requirements, the older woman stood to the side, quietly waiting as she smiled with a look of anticipation.

At the same time, the players received a system message. The system also added the second half of the sentence that the older woman didn’t finish, they needed to hand the ducks straight to HER hands, to get the points for succeeding. Everyone froze for half a second, then quickly took action.

30 seconds to catch 7 ducks sounds like more than enough time, but there was no guarantee that no one would run out, deliberately mess up and cause havoc during the process, so everyone felt it was most important to catch the ducks first.

At the moment she heard the task requirements, Night Snow is Serene and Cold took action. At the same time, her brain was also turning frantically. She didn’t think and used her two hands to catch everything. The game didn’t give the player hints in previous activities, while it also provided the task supplies baskets.

Therefore, in the case of requiring a larger number of ducks, it would be easier to choose other colors of ducks to catch.

Night Snow is Serene and Cold’s eyes and ears quickly found a golden duck and a black duck, two of which add up to seven ducks, and she managed to catch them in the flock. While Players were still looking for ducks all over the place, she had already run to the older woman, submitted the ducks and got the corresponding points. Because she was the first to submit the ducks, she was also rewarded with an extra 10 points plus a salted duck egg.

Night Snow is Serene and Cold held the huge salted duck egg, and her eyes widened slightly. She had a sense of joy that a pie had suddenly fallen from the sky. This discovery also intensified her efforts in the subsequent rounds of catching and grabbing ducks, as she did everything possible to be the first person to submit the ducks each time.

When the whole game was done, she actually got five salted duck eggs. It could be said to be a huge harvest.

The players who were competing with Night Snow is Serene and Cold in the same group saw this and made a silent decision in their hearts that next time, they definitely should not be grouped with this terrible woman. They must wait until she entered the game map, and then they could go to the village chief to sign up.

If that woman was in the game, where could they get any points? In the following three days, they might not be able to even see a salted duck egg!

Other groups of players also had a lot of fun to watch.

After someone submitted the correct number of ducks in the last round, that player had a small group of ducks around him and he drove them to the older woman’s side, then used materials from his backpack, which was left over from making a fence, to form a circle to temporarily enclose them, as he intended to catch them now and hand them over, and cut out the extra running time.

Hey, he’s really smart!

What the smug man didn’t notice was that the surrounding players exchanged a look with each other and smiled wistfully.

The older woman gave an order to turn in 5 ducks.

The player gleefully put his hand into the circle, but unexpectedly several more hands came from all directions and grabbed the beleaguered ducks in the circle more quickly than he did.

One of them was particularly nimble and hard. Actually, it was two hands, the left hand grabbed the wings of two ducks, the right hand drew a circle around the neck of three ducks, and then quickly grabbed them up, hey, the number was just right! After they turned in the ducks, they were rewarded with points and salted duck eggs.

However, the player who made that fence circle, didn’t catch a single duck. Originally there were a dozen ducks in the circle, and he was robbed by the others.

“You guys!” The player’s shoulders were like small white flowers trembling in the wind, and he was so angry that his eyes were red and he couldn’t speak for half a day. He looked at those players who had robbed his ducks, his eyes angry and full of accusation. In response to his displeasure, the people he was staring at chose to face him with deadpan playfulness.

“Hey sorry, brother. The ducks in the game can be a rare commodity, and belong to the fast hands. Your slow hands are to blame. Blame your hand speed, it is too slow, it…”

“Brother, can you not be silly? Putting the fence around the ducks to stop them is useful, but just because you surrounded them, they aren’t yours. Anyone can catch them, okay? You also don’t have to stare at the duck in my hand, I won’t return to you. Besides, you can’t prove that it belongs to you, right?”

The national curse was almost about to come out of the victim’s mouth, and even the duck that was caught had a slight hesitation. At that point, his eyes met the caught duck’s gaze. Those black beans eyes looked at him, and appeared innocent. As a result of the attention of his gaze, the duck also quacked twice at him, not at all panicked by the “bad guys” who caught it.

The end of the game was quiet.

Forget it. What do ducks know? They were innocent. Inexplicably, his heart’s anger also subsided a little.

“Oh, brother, why are you still standing there? Only half of the time is left. If you do not go to catch the ducks, then you don’t want any points this time!” The player who caught five ducks in one go smiled at the victim, with an expression like ā€œI was thinking of you.ā€

The victim player finally couldn’t hold back his tears and didn’t even care to stare at the person a few more times. He rushed out to catch the ducks that were left alone. Fortunately, this was only the second round of the game, and the number of ducks in the duck farm was sufficient, so although he was more rushed, he still smoothly submitted the correct number.

When he went back to the older woman and saw that small, empty fence circle, the victim’s anger rose from his heart, and he kicked out in anger!

Thanks for translation.
But I’m quite bored with this kind of writing style for sometime 80% explain the games and several players and only 20% with protagonist showing.šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘ It’s like this through out the story I feel that I don’t need to read all explanation at all just skip it and it would be fine. šŸ™„šŸ™„
