Chapter 113: Atypical Little Girl

After Jin Zhe’s reasonable brainwashing, Kazumi Koyama finally realized the importance of the Free Guide organization and the dangers it faced. That evening, he contacted Sienna, and the next morning, he entrusted the important task of packing his luggage to Yin Bo, then drove alone to Twin City.
It was early spring, the time for Aston Medical College’s annual spring internship. Mu led a group of students to rotate and exchange at major hospitals. Since St. Martin’s Hospital was one of the internship sites, he brought his daughter to their home in Twin City. During his usual working hours, he left her at the hospital’s daycare center specifically for doctors’ children, under the care of daycare teachers.
At a young age, Zhuang Zhuang already showed a leader’s temperament. After a winter break and half an internship period, she had already won over all the children in the early education class. The process of winning them over… let’s not talk about it. In any case, this kid completely inherited the character of her somewhat eccentric father, mastering the policy of carrot and stick perfectly.
Mu frequently received complaints from other parents, causing him a headache. At first, he tried to teach his daughter to be a bit more ladylike, buying her many toys that normal girls liked. However, Zhuang Zhuang turned up her nose at the realistic Barbie dolls he bought and instead favored mechanical dinosaurs, Godzilla monsters, and the like that others gave her. Recently, she didn’t even need him to accompany her to bed at night; she just needed the Hulk or the Zombie King by her pillow.
Mu could manage thousands of peach and plum trees but couldn’t control his own fierce daughter. In the end, he had to give up trying to change her. The only requirement was that before his daughter resorted to violence, she had to first reason with the other party—even if she wanted to be a queen, she had to be a queen who won people over with virtue.
When Kazumi Koyama suddenly visited, Mu happened to be inspecting the hospital below. He only found out in the afternoon when he returned, immediately going to find Sienna.
“Why did he suddenly come?” Mu asked in surprise. “Didn’t he join the military? After the Black Pearl incident, he cut off contact with the organization. He didn’t even send wedding invitations. Why did he suddenly come to see you today?”
Sienna’s face turned serious, gesturing for him to sit down. “Is it about the organization?”
“The organization?” Mu was even more surprised. “He wouldn’t have revealed information about the organization to the military, would he? Say what you will about Kazumi Koyama, he may be too radical, but he at least has some principles. Whether it was joining Lancer initially or later assisting the military, he never exposed the organization’s secrets. Could it be that now, under the influence of the Sentinel’s mark, he’s had other ideas?”
“No, not yet,” Sienna said. “He came on behalf of the president to negotiate with me.”
“The president?” Mu couldn’t believe it. “Why would the president contact you through him? Our relationship with the cabinet has always been good. Shouldn’t any matters be directly communicated to us by the cabinet?”
“It’s the president’s personal intention,” Sienna said. “The president wants to discuss the issue of the organization’s ownership with me personally.”
“You mean the president has already confirmed the existence of the organization? Did Kazumi Koyama tell him?”
Sienna shook her head. “Mu, the situation is different now. The organization has been established for over a hundred years, and it’s been almost fifty years since the Great Massacre ended. Last year, the president began reforming the Guide Protection Law, and the external environment has become increasingly mild. So, our organization has also begun to loosen internally. There are no absolute secrets in the world; the president has always been well-informed, so it’s impossible for him to be completely unaware of our existence. Now, by officially meeting with me through Kazumi Koyama, it means he already knows about my role as the head of the organization.”
Mu fell silent. Sienna continued, “This was bound to happen sooner or later. Ever since Wu Chenghe replaced you and was sent to the Tungusic base two years ago, I foresaw this day would come. Recently, tensions between the Voyager Army and the Federation have been high, and the president has begun to worry about our political leanings. It’s only normal. Over the years, people have increasingly recognized the importance of guides. We’re no longer just a simple protection organization; we’ve become a dangerous weapon, but we don’t have the ability to protect ourselves. Since the Kazumi Koyama incident, I’ve been worried about the organization’s future. Perhaps today, the president extending a helping hand is the will of the heavens.”
Mu hesitated, and Sienna sighed. “Mu, don’t worry. What’s meant to happen will happen. It’s better for the president to intervene than for the Voyager Army to intervene. This might not be a bad thing for the organization. The president meeting with me personally indicates that he doesn’t intend to completely expose the organization. At least he doesn’t plan to hand us over to the Tungusic base. Whether in the future, we’ll be under the command of the cabinet or the president himself, it’s better than being handed over to guide schools.”
“Yes,” Mu had to agree with her words. The Free Guide organization protected over two thousand unregistered guides, most of whom were adults. Once handed over to Tungusic, they would immediately face arranged marriages. This was extremely fatal for these “loose” guides because most of them had their own careers, and some even had their own families…
“Since the Black Pearl incident, my impression of the president has been good,” Sienna said. “So, I’ve already arranged to meet him here tomorrow through Kazumi Koyama. Whatever he wants to do, I want to hear his opinions first.”
Mu nodded and said, “To be honest, I had high hopes for this term’s president. He was very tough on military matters, lenient and gentle towards guides, and has always advocated for reform. If he is willing to let the organization maintain a certain level of independence and not enforce existing regulations on the guides we protect, I think we can definitely reach some kind of mutually beneficial agreement with him. But with the upcoming election, if he cannot be re-elected, all his promises will become empty words, and if the organization’s information leaks from his hands, it could lead to a great disaster.”
“You don’t need to worry about that,” Sienna said. “If we really can reach an agreement with him, I will support him in the second half of the year’s election, using my influence in Congress, the courts, and various sectors of society. But I don’t think there will be any surprises; he should be able to be re-elected. He has performed exceptionally well during his four-year term, with high public approval ratings, and he even recently eradicated the Lancer rebel forces, with strong support from the military.”
“Yes,” Mu agreed. “No previous president has had such a good record since the massacre. He visited the center to see Wu Chenghe last time, and we had a face-to-face conversation. I could feel that he is a very charismatic person, smooth, wise, and assertive, but not unpleasant.” Pausing for a moment, he concluded, “A perfect president.”
“Haha,” Sienna laughed. “It’s rare to hear you praise someone so highly. I almost thought you were in love with him.”
Mu felt embarrassed, for some reason his face turned red, and he frowned, saying, “Don’t make such jokes, Sienna, it’s not funny at all.”
“Well, he does treat you well,” Sienna said. “After the hunting incident, he sent Mr. Hobart to visit you specially, and even left his personal lawyer to help you, to fight for a high compensation.”
“That’s all because of Wu Chenghe,” Mu marveled at the middle-aged woman’s associative ability. “You know his brother, Jin Xuan, is Wu Chenghe’s sentinel. The president has no descendants, so he raised his brother as his own son. He thought I gave birth prematurely because of Wu Chenghe’s hunting, so he wanted to compensate me.”
“Hehe, I know,” Sienna stopped teasing him. “Alright, go pick up Zhuang Zhuang, and bring her home to rest early.”
Mu nodded helplessly and went downstairs to pick up his daughter, the little princess. Sienna handed him a box of toy soldiers. “These were brought by Kazumi Koyama for the child. He said it was a toy recommended by Wu Chenghe, and he was worried that the little girl wouldn’t like it.”
Mu took the toy soldiers with a bitter smile. “How could she not like it? She’s such a tomboy!” Talking about his daughter’s hobbies was heart-wrenching. Waving his hand, he said, “I’m going to pick her up now. She’s been running a slight fever these past couple of days, probably due to the weather change.”
“It’s okay, just spray some spray before bed,” Sienna said. “I have an appointment with the president the day after tomorrow, I think it’s best for you to avoid it.”
“Okay,” Mu nodded. Last time, there were sentinels in the president’s security detail who were highly compatible with him. For safety reasons, it’s better not to meet face-to-face.
Mu went downstairs to pick up his daughter and drove her home. Zhuang Zhuang was now articulate, with endless chatter. She was dismantling toy soldiers and setting up a battlefield in the back seat while chatting incessantly. From the daycare teacher’s husband being away on a business trip today to the little brat who had beaten her last time confessing to her today, to the last four digits of the social welfare code of the cleaning lady in the next class being 0098… She talked about everything in great detail, like a little spy!
By the time Mu returned home, his ears were numb from her chatter. He really didn’t understand how he ended up with such an oddball! Apart from looking somewhat like him, Zhuang Zhuang seemed to have undergone uncontrollable mutations in all other aspects, whether it was her personality or her hobbies — he loved peace, she loved war. He never gossiped, but Zhuang Zhuang had made friends with almost all the children in the early childhood education class (of course, through various means)…
Goodness! Which lunatic had provided the sperm to him back then?!!!
“Dean, Dean, I want to eat yellow poop!” Zhuang Zhuang threw off her pretty Lolita dress as soon as she got home and rushed into the living room wearing a camouflage vest to play war games.
“Speak properly!” Mu turned around and scolded her.
“Bazhahei!” Zhuang Zhuang laughed at him. “Kiss Daddy, I want mango puree!”
Mu felt a little depressed. This kid never knew what “disgusting” meant. Mango puree was called “yellow poop”, chocolate sauce was called “black poop”, carrot puree was called “red poop”. Last time when he made celery puree, he accidentally added too much water, and this kid came running to him, excitedly showing him her soiled pants, “Daddy, look, I have diarrhea, it’s green poop!”
It’s incredible that such a young child knows the word “diarrhea”. Truly a medical family… But dear God, how did she evolve into this?! After eating the “yellow poop”, the father and daughter played “War of the Toy Soldiers vs. Godzilla” for over an hour. When Mu finished washing his daughter and sprayed her with the spray, he was already dizzy with exhaustion.
“Daddy, stay with me.” The little girl, feeling a bit feverish, didn’t feel it while playing, but now lying in bed, she felt a bit languid, holding his fingers tightly.
Mu was a typical father-daughter con. No matter how mischievous his daughter was, as long as she fluttered her big eyes, he immediately softened. He lay beside her and stroked her back, “Don’t you want Zombie King to accompany you tonight?”
“Daddy handsome.” Zhuang Zhuang wriggled into his arms. “Daddy smells nice.”
Mu’s heart melted by her words. He gently patted her back, “Zhuang Zhuang is the most handsome, Zhuang Zhuang smells nice too.” God knows why a little girl doesn’t like being called beautiful by others, she only likes being called handsome.
“Zhuang Zhuang and Daddy are the same.” The little girl sniffled like a dog. “We both smell like yellow poop!”
Mu was puzzled. The shower gel at home was mango-flavored, wasn’t it just “yellow poop”? (Mango expresses unhappiness…)
After snuggling for a while, Zhuang Zhuang got tired and fell asleep, clutching his fingers. She was about to doze off when she suddenly struggled and asked, “Daddy, will you find a stepmom for me?”
“What?” Mu was surprised. “Who told you such things?”
“Mel’s dad found him a stepmom,” Zhuang Zhuang said. “The stepmom gave the little friend poisoned apples, and the little friend died.”
“No, I won’t,” Mu smiled. It was probably a mix-up of stories the child had heard from her teacher. He gently touched the soft fur on her head. “Daddy has Zhuang Zhuang, and that’s enough.”
“Zhuang Zhuang protect you.” The little girl was already half asleep, her eyes barely open, patting her father’s arm. “When Dean gets old, has Zhuang Zhuang… Don’t want stepmom…”
Mu’s heart softened like yellow poop. When she was completely asleep, he gently pried her chubby fingers from her grip and pulled them back. He had no intention of getting married in this lifetime, not in the past and certainly not in the future, so his daughter would never have to worry about a stepmom.
The only outsider related to his daughter by blood was probably the sperm donor, but even that could only be considered a stepfather at most.
Thinking of the term “stepfather,” Mu felt a bit embarrassed. He touched his nose awkwardly and quietly closed the door to the children’s room.
With a click, the door closed, and Zhuang Zhuang, feeling uncomfortable, rolled over in bed, emitting a slight whimper from her nose. At that moment, the blanket moved, then moved again, and a small light brown furball emerged from under the covers.
It was a tiny Barbary lion cub, as if it had just crawled out of its mother’s belly. Its sparse fur was soft, revealing pink skin in many places. But its face was extremely cute, with big round eyes that were translucent light brown, shining like good glass, round ears, a flat mouth, and when it yawned, you could see the neat little milk teeth on its pink gums.
“Miu~” the little lion cub let out a tiny cry, struggling to stand up. It crawled to Zhuang Zhuang’s ear, extending its tiny right front paw to touch her ear. Unfortunately, it was too small and its body was uncoordinated. It toppled over from the pillow and fell onto its back.
“Wuwu…” the little lion cub cried sadly, rolling under the bed, unable to get up. Zhuang Zhuang, disturbed by the tiny cries, sat up groggily, rubbing her eyes, looking around, and finally fixing her gaze on the little lion cub. Her eyes lit up, “Kitty!”
The little lion cub stopped struggling and met her gaze affectionately. After a moment, it let out a “miu~” sound, extending its right front paw towards her for help.
“Oh, yellow kitty!” Zhuang Zhuang exclaimed joyfully, jumping out of bed to catch the little lion cub. She grabbed its tail and dragged it onto the round furry carpet at the foot of the bed, sitting beside it and poking it with her finger. “Meow! Yellow kitty!”
The little lion cub, overwhelmed by Zhuang Zhuang’s rough touch, its fur turned upside down, feeling like it had been shocked. Dizzy, trembling, it shook its head repeatedly, “Meow!”
Zhuang Zhuang thought hard. Cats seemed to eat small fish, so she pushed the little lion cub over, peeled back its belly, and tried to find its tail, attempting to drag it out to find small fish.
The little lion cub was terrified, clutching its tail tightly, rolling around like a fur ball to avoid its owner’s claws. When Zhuang Zhuang used brute force to pin it down and pry open its front paws, it let out a mournful “roar” and disappeared.
“Oh! Yellow kitty!” Zhuang Zhuang looked puzzled, searching for the disappeared little lion cub, “Yellow kitty, come out! Come out quickly!”
She lifted the blanket, nothing. She turned over the pillow, nothing. She opened the closet, still nothing! Zhuang Zhuang got angry, her eyes rolled, and she held her chubby arms high, shouting loudly, “If you don’t come out, I’ll tell Dean!”
But it seemed like “yellow kitty” wasn’t even afraid of Dean, as it didn’t show up.
“I’ll count to ten, and if you don’t come out, I’ll go find Dean. Daddy spanks hard!” Zhuang Zhuang said seriously, waited for a while, then began counting, “One, two, three, eight, five, one…”
A child less than a year and three months old couldn’t even count to five. Zhuang Zhuang counted and counted, falling into a loop. Since the yellow kitty didn’t come out, she ended up making herself dizzy and fell asleep drooling on the furry carpet.
The next morning, Mu came to wake up his daughter. When he pushed open the door to the children’s room, he saw his daughter sleeping on the floor with her butt up, startled. He quickly picked her up, “Why are you sleeping on the floor?”
Zhuang Zhuang, still half asleep, murmured, “Looking for the yellow kitty.”
“What yellow kitty?” Mu was bewildered as he carried her to the bathroom to wash and change her clothes. “The plush toy? I thought you didn’t like that?”
“It’s the yellow kitty,” Zhuang Zhuang yawned, blew a bubble of snot, and gestured with her chubby hand, “Like this, this yellow kitty.”
Mu didn’t understand, shook his head, figuring she was half asleep and mistook a dream for reality. He ignored her mumbling about the yellow kitty and proceeded to bathe her.
He never imagined that his daughter’s quantum beast, which had just appeared the night before, had disappeared after being scared by its own owner—quantum beasts were unstable in their initial formation and occasionally disappeared in the three-dimensional world, which was why scientists initially thought they were “unstable quantum states”. As they grew older, this situation would gradually diminish, and when the owner became an adult, the quantum beast would stabilize completely.
After washing up, Mu checked his daughter’s temperature. He had been worried she would have a high fever today, but to his surprise, it had returned to normal completely. He didn’t dwell on it and simply took her to Saint Martin Hospital and dropped her off at the preschool.
Today was the day Sienna had arranged to meet with the President. Mu didn’t dare to linger at the center, so after settling Zhuang Zhuang, he gathered a few subordinates and went out to conduct internship inspections.
An hour later, the President’s low-profile car quietly arrived at Saint Martin Hospital and stopped at the top-level helipad.

Hahaha, Zhuang Zhuang takes Jin Zhi’s mutation side. Like wars and manchines. But why she’s so rough with the little barbary lion. Poor little lion, scared by her owner. Hope she would treat the little lion better.
Ahhh when will Jin Zhi’s and Mu united? I really want to see Mu’s reaction when he knows the sperms donor was the president, the sentinel from his youth, the one he can’t forget deep in his mind.
Thanks for the chapter!!!
ZZ’s quantum beast has to be a bit of a hint? ☺️ Poor thing; an unsupervised, under two-year old?… no wonder it vanished! 😅 She sounds a handful.
I hope nothing but positive results come from an alliance between JZ and the Free Guide Organisation.
Thank you both for the chapter.
