Chapter 54: A God’s Marriage (25)
Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations
Editor: GaeaTiamat
Yan Yan lowered his voice, “Lord, please wait for a moment.”
He stepped aside and said sharply, “West Wind God, I need to understand…”
“You don’t need to understand, Wraith.” The West Wind’s voice took on a tone rebuke. “You only need to obey orders!”
Yan Yan was silent for a long time, then said, “We are here under oath, and the token of the Lord of the Ice Sea makes us obey only Lord’s orders. West Wind God, please understand.”
The shadows of the wind gathered and scattered, flowed and settled. The West Wind said in annoyance, “All right! Then I am telling you that the Lord was saved as a sacrifice of the God of Storms, not the Lord of the Sea of Ice. If he enters Samar, that one is likely to be sent by Roche, and that Roche is close to my priesthood. I’m afraid I can’t freely walk the city-state and deliver the message to my Lord in time. Do you understand?”
Although the Storm God was a god of a certain domain, the power of his rule was only effective on the ice sea. However, the ice sea was the main body of the world, and the Mother Goddess, Irma, was born in the chaos of the ice sea. The world, the sun, moon, and stars of the heavens, and therefore, Roche’s power still held some weight among the new gods. The West Wind was one of the only remaining Wind Gods. Even if his power encompassed the sky and the earth, Roche’s power was still in the realm of the ice sea, and if Roche raised a storm, the West Wind couldn’t fight against him.
“We understand,” Yan Yan said honestly, but confusedly. “The ancient rule. A god retired the sacrifice, the sacrifice is livestock and wealth, then the livestock and wealth it is ownerless. So what reason has Roche to claim the Lord?”
–Does he want to live?
Yan Yan was a demon subordinate to God, and had no right to say whether a god was foolish or brave. He wisely kept this sentence in his heart, and wasn’t bold enough to say it out loud.
Since that was the problem! Yun Chi was technically a “retired sacrifice.” Roche didn’t see him, and the sacrifice process was messed up by a few human sacrifices in Storm God Palace, so this was the most rule-based answer. If the rules were followed, Roche wouldn’t have any absolute problem.
…Of course, that’s only as long as He dares not to think, and dares not to speak.
This was really too good to be true. To put it bluntly: it was like Sa’gya had stolen someone’s sacrifice, and was forever intending to return it, so whoever came to ask for it, would break his hand with that kind of theft, and there was no difference because of occupation.
If the truth spread, it would really insult the prestige of the Lord of the Ice Sea…Although He originally did not have a good name, but as his subordinate, how could he say that?
“Roche is an arrogant, prideful fool who does as he pleases,” The West Wind said coldly. “The seat of the Lord God has been vacant for a long time. Recently the ice sea is calm because Roche is planning to impose favors on humans. With the power of human faith, he plans to compete with the Winter God for the throne of the Lord God…In His heart, He is worthy of that position, so what extra reason is needed to dispose of the human sacrifice that originally belonged to Him?”
The West Wind politely hid the truth of the matter in his language, but anyone who had a brain and heard it hinted at, could piece together the original story…
“I understand,” Yan Yan said straightforwardly. ” You told me that everything is just possible, and our duty is only to try to perfectly implement all of the Lord’s requirements. This is a matter to be decided by the Lord himself, not by us.”
Okay, it seemed that the person who was listening hadn’t grown a brain.
The West Wind was furious. The daylight dimmed, the wild wind roared, the clouds in the sky were stirred by a huge hand. Yun Chi, who had waited for half a day, was startled and called out, “Yan Yan, what is it?”
The West Wind moved. Yan Yan hurriedly turned around, strode to his side, and reported, “Lord, just now West Wind God sent news. Samar is originally a city-state under the rule of Roche, the God of Storms. Do you need to avoid it?”
Roche, the God of Storms. The psychopath who liked to collect beautiful boys?
For some reason, when he thought of that name, Yun Chi’s old hatred and new hatred came together, so his suffering on the ice sea was as vivid as it was yesterday and made his bones tingle. He said, “I haven’t forgotten this culprit! His shish-kebab ritual almost made me die at sea.”
True, he had actually died once, and if his soul had not been attracted by the mural to his current body, the original seventeen-year-old would have been buried at the bottom of the sea; buried in the belly of a fish.
After he thought about it, Yun Chi was a little hesitant. He actually didn’t understand the true situation of his body. If there were his blood relatives in the Samar city-state, what should he do?
Yun Chi thought it over for a moment and made up his mind. Even if there were blood relatives, they were the first to abandon the boy. The past seemed to have disappeared like smoke and clouds, so if they recognize him, they better not come and mess with him.
“Please ask the West Wind to consult Sa’gya,” Yun Chi said. “I don’t know what Roche thinks of me…He is a god, after all, and with that much going on day by day, perhaps, he has long forgotten about me?”
The West Wind sighed. He knew that the matter of avoiding the city-state of Samar was hopeless.
Sa’gya experienced the battle of the Godslayer, and had avoided the world for many years. He had long been the former god that ruled the ice sea, the main god of a sheltered family. He understood the importance of sacrifice and human sacrifice to a new god, so Roche didn’t bother to understand that Sa’gya only cared about very few things and only one person, so for Yun Chi, He would do anything. The God of Storms, in His eyes, was a roadside stone that had the difference of more than a level. Even if that stone should hit His head, Sa’gya was indifferent, and would just raise his head a little. Yun Chi wanted to buy the fireplace. It was important.
So, even if He went to report, the response would probably just be…
“Roche?” Sa’gya’s whiskers shook. He held a clay pot and was crushing the coarse salt inside into fine salt for Yun Chi. “The God of Forging resides in Samar, right? Yun Chi intends to buy a fireplace, so then buy the best. Don’t let him down.”
The great sea otter was distracted as he pressed the fleshy pad of his palm against the inner wall of the clay pot again and again. “As for Roche…”
He paused and thought. “If you’re good enough to get into Samar, then go make some trouble at sea to lure Him away and keep Him from the city-state.”
— True enough.
The West Wind communicated to Yan Yan Sa’gya’s message, and said, “He can go to the Samar city-state. Protect the Lord well, and it must, must be low-key.”
Once this was said, he turned to Yun Chi and said respectfully, “My Lord said, he misses you, but please have a good time and enjoy yourself. Your own thoughts are the main thing. You must hurry home.”
The sting of hearing Roche’s name in his heart immediately vanished as Yun Chi touched his earlobe with awareness. He smiled and said, “Okay, I know.”
The West Wind saw them to the trail. Yun Chi waved to Yan Yan. “Let’s go?”
Yan Yan repeated his trick and summoned an animal cart from the ground, then took Yun Chi with him. It didn’t take long to arrive at Samar’s city-state.
Compared with Astolfo, which was built on a mountain, Samar was a type of flat land, and the only tall building on the open and wide snowy plains was a green wind tower, while the rest of the buildings were mostly flat with wide walls and streamlined vaults as the foundation.
“At first glance, it’s a windy place…” Yun Chi lamented.
“Yes, the city-state of Samar is also known as the ‘Wind City,'” Yan Yan said. “But because of the wind fueling the fires, this is one of the important city-states where the God of the Foundry is stationed.”
Yun Chi nodded readily, “Ah, the fireplace.”
The two had just walked to the entrance of the city, when Yan Yan felt a powerful divine force soar up from the wind tower in the direction of the ice sea.
Thinking of what the West Wind had instructed just now, Yan Yan’s mind became clear that the God of Storms must have been lured away by the West Wind.
“We can go in,” Yan Yan said. “If you would please follow the road.”
The streets of Windy City were spacious and clean, the houses were stable, the snow was falling, the trees were sparse, and everywhere you looked, it was the perfect environment for wind spirits to live in. As soon as Yun Chi entered the city gates, he heard the crowds around him bustling on the road, and discussing in excitement.
“Uptown…Sacrifice?” Gossip was human nature. Not to mention the need to gather enough information for the expedition, Yun Chi listened an earful and resisted the urge to poke around among the talking people. “Excuse me. What’s the hustle and bustle today?”
“It’s not just today! It’s a month of rituals. We’re about to meet the daughter of the king of the city-state, then she will be sent to the highest level of the temple as the divine servant of the gods…”
“Ohhh!” Yun Chi made an awe-inspired expression. “Sorry, I’m from out of town and don’t know the rules here. But I heard that the human sacrifices to the God of Storms had to be put on a boat and pushed into the sea to be tested?”
The people next to him laughed and said, “That’s only for the common noblemen. This is the king’s only daughter. How could she be put out to sea at the mercy of the waves?”
“Just like the son of the Ondemol Family a few months ago.” In the distance, someone shook his head and sighed, “Even the white boat in which the human sacrifice was made, was shattered by the storm and pushed back to shore. Maybe the gods were angry, that’s for sure…”
Yun Chi stopped dead in his tracks as that person’s sentiment set off a new wave of discussion among the nearby crowd.
“This year’s festival was supposed to go very well…”
“…If only there had been no accident with the white ship, the king wouldn’t have sent his daughter to the temple as early as he did.”
“The family of Ondemol, who could not pay their debts of credibility before the king, and who now bear the stigma of being rejected by the Lord God…”
Yun Chi listened to this in silence. Yan Yan said worriedly, “Lord?”
“Let’s go,” Yun Chi said. “It’s none of my business.”

Really don’t blame him. He’s YC, not this family’s son, after all.
Thank you both for the chapter.
I like how Yun Chi asked West Wind god to consult Sa’gya. He really respects Sa’gya. Yun Chi is a kind hearted guy, if he met “his” family and turns out they’re in trouble or having difficult lives, most probably he’ll help them knowing now why they had to give him as sacrifice. The king seems to be not a good man, using the family’s debt to replace his daughter though understandable. Please don’t be discovered by the king. I’m really worried, but also want to witness Sa’gya’s real power.
