Chapter 40: Adulthood

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Mimosa

“Yu Hanzhou…. Then, you, you get busy.”

“Mn.”

Ming Huan heard the sound of a big wind coming from the other side of the communication. Yu Hanzhou was silent and didn’t say anything, but didn’t actively cut the connection either. He seemed to have nothing to say, and there was a full minute of silence between individuals afterwards.

The little dragon finally took the initiative to cut the terminal connection.

The sound of shallow breathing in his head, along with the sound of the wind there also disappeared.

Shu Yun did not know what the admiral said.

The child while lying on the bed had been nesting nicely, but suddenly had his little head hanging down with his pointed chin pressed down and his fine hair covering his eyes.

Ming Huan in the cub stage resembled the snow white tiger of the jungle from those kinds of ancient civilization records.

A ‘king’ was printed on his forehead, and his tail was round and cute as he stood on the edge of the cliff and roared.

Fierce, sometimes arrogant, and sometimes considerate.

For the differentiation period, his mood was extremely unstable.

He now looked like a rain-drenched cat that was silently curled up and pretending to calmly lick his bodily fur.

Even if it was the same omega, Shu Yun, looking at him like this, could not help but feel some compassion.

He was restless, as if he was panicking about the impending differentiation.

Ming Huan nestled in the blankets, and suddenly sent a message to Yu Hanzhou terminal.

[Yu Hanzhou.]

He sent just three words and nothing else.

He didn’t seem to know what to say either.

Shu Yun tried to reassure him again, “If you think the temporary marker will be a bit scary, you can choose the soothing agent. After all, the temporary marker can wait until your next estrus. The admiral should not be able to come today, you can communicate with him again when you have completed the differentiation. You can rest assured that the few doctors downstairs are the most professional….”

Usually when a young omega differentiated, the physician would not emphasize the pain and risk of differentiation.

This was to reduce his fear, in order to prevent the process of differentiation that triggered excessive worry and led to mental energy riots.

For three years after breaking his shell, he would think that he was the most adorable little dragon cub in the world, and that he would be loved and cared for by the whole world. As long as he obediently and smoothly grew, countless alphas would give him what he wanted with both hands.

If he can be matched with a future husband, this natural doting would never stop. He would welcome differentiation with a sense of anticipation and security.

Ming Huan was special.

He was not like other omegas who were brought up to be pampered and spoiled. Thus, he would not take the pampering for granted.

Shu Yun had to tell him the risks in advance, so that he could make a difference in a more sensible situation.

Such sincere consolation would not work.

Ming Huan seemed to have more fluctuations in his emotional value.

Shu Yun once again looked at the value displayed on the testing device suspended on Ming Huan’s gland.

“Pheromone concentration 99%.” Shu Yun looked at the sunset and estimated the approximate difference in time. There was not much time.

“Short and concise. Want to get married, temporary marker, do not want to get married, soothing agent. What you choose now can change your differentiation period especially. It will only put you in an emotional slump, you need to control your sense of expectations….”

‘Control your sense of expectations.’

‘But–’

‘What exactly was he expecting?’

“You’re in a bit of a mood swing.” He went on to say pacifically, “No, it’s just different. Time will not change. Your matching object and the soothing agent have been prepared. Now I’ll go downstairs and call the doctor up. Wait a moment.”

Ming Huan’s heart was thumping. According to Shu Yun, he put down all kinds of cluttered ideas in the brain.

There was a knock on the door.

It overlapped with the sound of his heartbeat.

The sunset closed the last trace of afterglow, and the sky turned deep blue. Gradually, a thick black was dyed deeply.

He’d differentiate alone.

The matching degree partner or the choice of the soothing agent could cut 60% to 80% of the estrus symptoms. There is no reason why this should not work when the alpha was so much harder to get through.

Even after the differentiation was completed, Yu Hanzhou probably really wanted to smack himself for wanting to raise a young omega. It was too much trouble and he did not want to continue to raise himself. He could rely on his skills, in this completely strange world to start living alone.

Ming Huan’s eyes reddened a little.

Suddenly, he heard familiar footsteps. Hard military boots went ‘thump thump thump’ rhythmically on the floor with his cold movement.

Click.

The door was unlocked.

The room was dimmed, and he turned his head. The little bright light at the corridor shone through the door, casting a shadow on his face.

His fine white cheeks, having traces of tears, were clearly visible.

The figure at the door lurched, and the door clicked shut, plunging the bedroom back into the darkness.

The figure came to him in front of the bed, and he sat next to Ming Huan, with a strong inhibitor smell, “Ming Huan.”

It was Yu Hanzhou.

‘Why did he come? Wasn’t he busy?’

He glanced at the 99% figure on the suspension detector on Ming Huan’s neck. Then, he leaned down and gently hugged him.

The little dragon’s unstable emotions suddenly settled down.

That familiar sense of anticipation left when he calmed down enveloped in the heart of Ming Huan, and it only took a moment to suppress his anxiety.

“Why are you–” These three words emerged a little sharply before he suddenly closed his mouth. Ming Huan’s forehead emerged with small horns, “Here, ah….”

In fact, Ming Huan wanted to ask, ‘Why did you just come, ah!’

With his eyes red like a small rabbit, he rubbed tears on Yu Hanzhou’s uniform.

the epaulets were too painful. Ming Huan rubbed his cheeks against them which left scraping traces, and his white and flawless face suddenly had more conspicuous marks. This made him look strange and pitiful.

On the other hand, he was still fierce and even raised his foot to kick Yu Hanzhou.

Once he failed to kick, his caught ankle was stuffed back into the blankets.

“I’m sorry, I’m really busy these days.” Yu Hanzhou’s voice was low as he reached out to wipe away the tear marks on Ming Huan’s cheeks. The tips of his fingers were unexpectedly hot.

“What’s wrong with being busy?!”

Ming Huan wiped his eyes roughly and listened to Yu Hanzhou’s apologetic tone. His anger value rose straight up, “[custody] has not expired yet! Yu Hanzhou, how can you be so irresponsible?!”

Ming Huan complained angrily, but his nose looked a little sour. His earlobes and nose tip were haloed with peachy light pink.

This made him look fierce and dainty.

Yu Hanzhou only continued to hug Ming Huan while gently patting his back as if he was really coaxing his child, “So differentiate later, I’ll take you to eat delicious food. You can eat whatever you want to eat. Now you listen to the doctor, any questions, you can also ask.”

Ming Huan leaned on Yu Hanzhou’s shoulder, feeling so ashamed of himself for suddenly crying like this. He wiped a handful of tears with force before reaching towards Yu Hanzhou to push him away.

He held the blankets while sitting on the bed, “You don’t want me to differentiate into an omega, and you belittled me! Regardless. I’m telling you, you’re sexist!”

The little dragon complained, “Shu Yun said that I will suffer as I differentiate! He said it’s painful to be in estrus! He said, he said – what did he say, can’t quite remember….”

Yu Hanzhou sat on the edge of the bed, and after listening to him speak illogically, he suddenly caught his wrist and rubbed it. Perhaps because it was close to differentiation, Ming Huan felt very sensitive both mentally and physically.

For example, when Yu Hanzhou caught himself, he felt that the finger pad was rough, and him rubbing his wrist was unusually distinctive.

Originally it was a perfectly ordinary act, but now it made him unexpectedly concerned.

“You’re taller.” Yu Hanzhou’s voice was husky.

“Yes, I am.” Ming Huan seemed to find a bit of bragging rights, “These seven days, I’ve grown six centimeters! Here, look! The sleeves are shorter.”

“When you completely differentiate, then I’ll take you to buy clothes.” Yu Hanzhou put that hand back on the bed, “Whatever you like, I’ll buy it all. How much you want, I’ll buy whatever. Who cares.”

Ming Huan twisted and grabbed the blankets.

A short seven-day absence, and the child really got a lot older.

The wrist had also become thin.

“Good boy, don’t be afraid.”

Ming Huan faintly froze. He noticed that something reached into the mattress and gently touched Ming Huan’s nervous and stiff bent tail.

It was Yu Hanzhou’s dragon tail.

The teacher said that the tail of the dragon was the most sensitive part of the body, but also the most direct expression of their mood. The mouth may lie, but not the tail.

Ming Huan’s tail was stiff, and he couldn’t help but sway from side to side to avoid it when he touched it.

Yu Hanzhou’s hand propped up on the pillow. With no lights on, Ming Huan could even hear him breathing close at hand, and suddenly let out a slightly low laugh.

“What are you laughing at?!” Ming Huan was annoyed, feeling like a puffer fish that had some extra gas, “I’m not afraid -“

“Okay, not afraid.” Yu Hanzhou understood his temper and used the tip of his tail to hook him, “Then you also do not need to be nervous.”

Everything happened beneath the thick bedding. It was impossible to see what Yu Hanzhou was doing, and it was as if the individual was just sitting on the bed in quiet silence.

Ming Huan’s uneasiness gradually smoothed over.

another kind of sentiment rose.

The tip of the tail was no longer stiff, but smoothly stretched.

Not a second passed before it was coiled up a little, like a fern.

Yu Hanzhou watched Ming Huan proudly lift his little chin and floppy red ear tips, and he was suddenly stunned.

The little dragon was shy.

He could not see the expression, but the face could be said to have a bit of a stinkface.

the tail under the bedding had become coiled like mosquito incense.

“What are you looking at?”

A glare was shot his way

Yu Hanzhou’s heart suddenly became soft, and he took the tip of his tail wrapped around Ming Huan’s coiled up tail which he fondled. He then leaned down to rub the tip of Ming Huan pink nose.

A kiss gently fell on his brow.

“If you’re not used to it, think of this as a test. Only pass, no failure. To control your mental energy to be as stable as possible, this is emotional soothing. When you’re done with the exam, whatever you want, you’re free to do.”

Outside came the sound of a knock on the door as if it was urging them.

Although Yu Hanzhou and the omega had a low match, after all, he was still an alpha. Once he entered estrus, sharing a room with him would not be good.

Ming Huan knew that Yu Hanzhou was going to go.

The tip of his tail nudged him three times and drew away from the warm nest.

After pacifying the little dragon thoroughly, Yu Hanzhou left the room.

Under the light, his face was pale as never before.

After just walking downstairs, the overdose effects of an inhibitor on mental energy depletion was more profound feedback into the skull, and Yu Hanzhou heard the doctor discuss.

“He chose the soothing agent.”

It was an unexpected choice, but Yu Hanzhou was not surprised.

Ming Huan, who had been having inexplicable emotional problems today, calmed down in just ten minutes after Yu Hanzhou arrived. Shu Yun was surprised and felt justified at the same time –

It was a match after all.

No one could take care of and soothe him more carefully and securely than the dragon’s mate.

“Admiral Yu, how many special effects inhibitors did you take?”

“Five.”

In order to see this one, he pushed five special effects inhibitors.

“Admiral, you must now temporarily leave the mansion, at least maintain a distance of three hundred meters, it’s more secure at the shield outside. If there is an accident here, you will be notified immediately.”

Shu Yun monitored Ming Huan’s mood swings and mental energy fluctuations. “Thanks to your blessing, his mental energy is very stable now. You can be rest assured.”

For a SSS-level mental energy dragon hatchling to differentiate, the first floor gathered almost all the top level dragon doctors. The reason why he did not take him to the hospital but chose to have him differentiate in the admiral’s residence was also for observation afterwards. The little dragon’s mood would be more stable in this place.

The military level shielding was set up, and the best security measures as well as a heap of medical equipment moved over. The entire residence was completely under the Federation’s Military Department’s absolute control.

Such a battle was something that they dared not let the little dragon upstairs find, otherwise he would only be more nervous.

Yu Hanzhou temporarily left his mansion, leaving space for that young omega.

“Pheromone concentration.”

“100%.”

Shu Yun’s palm also seeped a little sweat, nervously looking upstairs in the direction of Ming Huan’s bedroom.

He just started to completely differentiate.

The Military Department’s officers immediately found out something bad when they left the guarding equipment.

The admiral’s residence had a defense control isolation shield that began to collapse from the inside out, but it did not suffer from the attack phenomenon.

The officer hesitated for a few seconds before he reacted –

This was the young dragon differentiating upstairs, subconsciously using mental energy to unlock the military-grade shield.

He quickly raised the shield level to the highest level, but it was still not enough. It was expected that in thirty seconds, the shield would completely collapse.

‘How could it be?’

This young dragon clearly did not have shield control authority.

‘Was this the SSS-Level mental energy, or was this the white feathered dragon’s special energy? Was it able to invade the use of military equipment at will? Could this also happen to even warplanes or starships?’

Countless speculations lingered in the mind, but now was not the time to think about them.

Several officers of the Military Department felt danger, and they immediately began to adjust the repair shield.

it was no use.

The speed of repair could not keep up with the speed of collapse.

It was over.

Just before the shield completely collapsed, th officers suddenly found that the shield suddenly began to miraculously repair itself!

The cycle repeated itself.

Collapse, repair, collapse, repair.

It was like a tug-of-war.

He couldn’t operate or compensate at all to be of any use.

“It’s the admiral,” One of the officers reacted.

Just as the white feathered dragon cub had somehow managed to destroy the containment shield outright, the admiral was using the same method to repair it in a hurry.

They were using mental energy to fight for control of everything in the house for small things like the lights and electrical appliances. This also applied for large things like the defense and control security equipment plus all the military-grade weapons and the defense settings. Even the medical equipment was affected. The lights also began to flicker on and off.

The atmosphere was overwhelming – if the military shield ruptured the medical machinery by mental energy pressure failure, then this young cub’s differentiation would cause him to have extremely low control.

The admiral obviously also knew this.

After about thirty minutes of stalemate, the cub upstairs slowly took the initiative to back off this sovereignty struggle.

The equipment returned to normal, and even the shields were completely patched.

All was quiet again.

Outside the residence, Yu Hanzhou’s spine seeped a large amount of cold sweat due to the sustained mental energy confrontation and the special effect inhibitors’ strong counterattack. It was as if his skull had been stabbed with a steel knife that was constantly stirring before his eyes began to go black.

This month, his susceptible period was torture, and continuous special effect inhibitors’ side effects seemed to all be in this moment together, about to reach the peak.

The officer at his side immediately held him, “Admiral!”

A message came from the terminal.

[Process report.]

[The person in your custody has successfully completed differentiation.]

[Hatchling mental energy loss 24%, very low. Differentiation process went well.]

“Take me directly to the hospital.” Yu Hanzhou spoke each word slowly, and he followed Officer Lin to the craft with weak feet. he completely fainted the moment he got into the passenger seat.

On the other side, there was a silent darkness. Ming Huan quietly opened his eyes. His head felt like sea water was rushing into his head, washing over his head and glands like a wave. Even his throat became dry and thirsty.

An omega doctor brought him a soothing agent.

He inhaled it and felt less of the raging pain.

Just now, he was trying to calm down in his sleep while subconsciously suppressing his mental energy – he was doing what Yu Hanzhou said.

Although it was hard and painful.

he did it.

‘Just like every exam before, he also “passed” this time, right?’

Ming Huan endured the weakened post-estrus pain and opened the terminal.

[Did I “pass”?]

No reply came from there.

[Yu Hanzhou.]

[When will we buy clothes? Mine are too short.]

Ming Huan was gasping for air, and his cheeks were red. The night wind had some chilliness, and the doctor who came to him continued to do a physical examination. The doctor said that this estrus might last one to three days, but the soothing agent was more effective than imagined. Thus, this must mean that they should be matched extremely high.

Ming Huan now had no time to consider what soothing agent.

All he cared about was that Yu Hanzhou actually did not return his message for three whole hours.

He was too tired from waiting too long and fell asleep.

‘Tomorrow morning, he should have a response, right?’

Ming Huan was suddenly a little angry, but remembered that he had instructed that now was a special time to control his emotions.

Ming Huan had these unbearable hot flashes that tormented him and made him unable to sleep. He grunted and clung to the blankets, using his tail to roll up the handmade bear Yu Hanzhou gave him before he held it in his arms.

He should control his emotions.

Yu Hanzhou was right that he should take this as a test.

Just like that, it was dawn.

Ming Huan opened his eyes, and the golden sun shone in his warm and comfortable room.

He opened his terminal.

Yu Hanzhou still hadn’t returned his message.

It was time to wake up.

Yu Hanzhou, it was so hard last night. I listened to you, and it was so hard to control, but I successfully completed the differentiation.

‘But, how can you sleep so well?’

No matter how he controlled it, the little dragon’s eyes were still flushed with a slightly red circle.

His heart gradually filled with some disappointment, but also had ants gently gnawing that created anger.

It had reached the point where even holding an expensive hand-made bear and sniffing  comforting aromatherapy could not appease him.

[Yu Hanzhou.] Ming Huan was exasperated and sent one word at a time on the blinking light screen. [Hungry. Want to eat fish.]

Ahhhh….the painful sacrifices that YH had to make for MH…. He better appreciate it!!

If only MH knew what YH went through for him. Someone should tell him really; even if they veil things slightly, so as not to upset or worry him.
MH seems to me to have embraced his Omega gender and his previous personality has definitely shifted to a slightly spoilt one.
Thank you both for the chapter.
