A minute later, the ringing in Lin Xu’s ears gradually dissipated, the lurching stopped, and in the silence, Heinrich’s cold voice rang out, “The leap is over, go back to your room and rest. I’ll stay on Blizzard to debug the data.”
“Okay, thanks Marshal,” Lin Xu got up dryly, looking around with a glass of water in his hand.
The robotic arm noticed his confusion and offered its hand to take the glass of water.
After walking down the gangway, Lin Xu went straight back to his room and messaged Arnold a brief message explaining the situation. Arnold said he received it and then had the robot send over some nutrients, with a message saying that the transport ship only had backup military conventional nutrients, and that Marshal had sent the formula for the nutrients Mr. Lin needed to the Abyss Fleet Medical Department and would send them to Mr. Lin once he boarded the Victoria.
The Victoria?
Lin Xu looked at the message and froze for a moment, stopping in front of his bed as the two black and white rabbit-cats jumped off the bed and rubbed their heads against his pant legs. Never having experienced a leap, they were now raising their long ears, which usually hung floppy on either side of their heads, due to stress, and the thin layer of skin on the inside of their ears showed the red color of bulging blood vessels.
Lin Xu sat down on their side, picked up the two rabbit-cats and put them on his lap, smoothing their fur and reassuring them, while sending Arnold a message asking: Which starship will I stay on after the rendezvous with the fleet?
Abyss Fleet starships were all military models, not to mention the living conditions, at least in terms of scientific equipment was inadequate to meet the complex needs of the expedition, so the expedition staff in this voyage alone using the Natural Evolution expedition ship, it was surrounded in the center of the Abyss Fleet formation to ensure security. The speed of the entire fleet navigation was therefore reduced.
Arnold replied: The Marshal said that you are the one he brought with him to stay on the Victoria.
When Heinrich explained the arrangements for Lin Xu to Arnold, his words were far less ambiguous, and his decision to keep Lin Xu on the Victoria was more a matter of security than anything else.
But Arnold carefully reviewed Marshal’s unusual behavior after meeting Mr. Lin, and vaguely felt that this was a precursor to the blossoming of the old iron tree, and as Marshal’s adjutant, Arnold felt obliged to help him.
Lin Xu looked at the message for a few seconds of silence and replied: Okay, thanks.
Blackie and Snowy gradually calmed down under his rubbing and stroking, turning over to reveal their stomachs and pawing at Lin Xu’s hands to smooth out their fur. Lin Xu rubbed them a few times, opened a tube of nutrient and drank it, then flipped out the electronic screen on Blackie and Snowy’s back and began to look at the case information he had been given by Heinrich.
Blackie and Snowy, “Mew–“
Lin Xu did not care about their screaming, after a while, the electronic screen operation radiated heat, the two rabbit-cat’s screams gradually decreased, comfortable and still.
The poison test report showed that the juice Marianna drank contained agent p3145, a strong, fast-acting, inexpensive form of P3145 that circulates in large quantities in the underground market in the Fringe area and was not an uncommon substance.
P3145 itself had a unique aroma, and alert border district people could easily distinguish it, but the Crescent District had a strict entry goods review system and security patrols. No matter how chaotic the border district stationed with rebels and the front line facing the zerg, the Special Zone remained a prosperous and harmonious place, and most citizens had no access to any dangerous goods, and so did Marianna. When the poison was put in the juice, she was even more incapable of distinguishing it.
The ammunition of the gun used by the sniper was an old mechanical gun, without a number, presumably from the underground market in the border area.
Light energy guns, particle guns and other high-tech weapons manufacturing was never monopolized by the Imperial official military industry. Private illegal military factories lacked sufficient funds and technical support to manufacture them, but the mechanical gun craft originating from ancient Earth was not difficult. Humans were not as thick-skinned as the Zerg, and the killing power of mechanical guns was sufficient.
The source of the poison and weapon implies that the murder was a private plan of the killer, but on closer examination it was suspicious.
Of the two perpetrators, the waiter was a native of the SAR, but the sniper was from the Long Whale Region, an unidentified pariah in the slums of Alexandria, how could he have the ability to evade SAR censorship and smuggle dangerous goods onto Endymion?
And the Star Pirates who had the audacity to sneak onto the Abyss Fleet…
The Star Pirates’ harassment was a constant headache for the interstellar fleets, but with the Star Pirates’ patchwork of starships and equipment, even the most vicious individuals who saw the military fleet sailing in the galaxy would have to run around.
Not to mention, they were up against the infamous Heinrich Chu.
It was said that after Heinrich caught up with the wave of Star Pirates in Blizzard, he went out into the opposing starship alone and detonated the mechanical core, which exploded in the silence of the universe with a brightness comparable to that of the Crescent District’s space salute.
The starship debris left behind after the explosion was dragged back by the mecha’s gravitational net and was now lying at the bottom of warehouse S105, about to be sent to the lab on the Victoria.
Lin Xu flipped through the battle footage taken by Blizzard on the electronic screen, when the starship suddenly shook and the suitcase that had been sitting in the corner fell to the ground with a snap.
He turned his head to look at the space behind him, still dark, the glass windows on the projection screen displayed the temperature and radiation, gravitational conditions inside and outside the cabin, all normal, no ray variation.
Under normal conditions, a starship sailing in the vacuum of the universe would not be lurching.
Boom…
The gravity system reacted quickly and regained stability within three seconds.
Arnold’s voice rang out and he picked up the emergency communication on the starship, “Mr. Lin, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Has the starship encountered a problem?” Lin Xu asked calmly, but the two rabbit-cats had been scared by the loud noise and popped out of his lap, one black and one white cowering in the corner, their two heads buried together and shivering. Lin Xu kind of regretted bringing them out, when he left, he thought he might not return to Endymion and did not choose to board them.
“Uh… there is something wrong, ooh-” Arnold’s voice suddenly mentioned, and a violent metallic crash came over the comms, followed by the starship shuddering once more and Lin Xu falling onto the bed from inertia.
As he sat up again on the edge of the bed, Arnold gasped and continued, “Mr. Lin, I’m in a critical situation here, Ryan’s piloting the ship from the bridge, have him take you and open the emergency escape pod to get out, I don’t know if I can…”
There was another burst of electricity and burning sound.
Lin Xu sprang to his feet, lifting his suitcase and shoving Blackie and Snowy into his arms again, quickly opening the door and heading for the bridge, “Colonel, what the hell is going on? Where are you now?”
“I’m in the warehouse where the mecha is parked! Marshal has gone into his susceptible period and is very hostile to alpha intruders! We’re in the warehouse with the mecha!” Arnold said while dodging Blizzard’s lightsaber attack, going crazy, “If we keep fighting, S105 won’t last long, Mr. Lin, you guys go first!”
“Susceptible period? How can it be now?”
“I don’t know, Marshal rarely has a susceptible period, and the time interval is not regular.”
Lin Xu rushed into the bridge, threw the suitcase and the two pets into Ryan’s hands, and said quickly to the dumbfounded and nervous child, “Did you get the call from Colonel Arnold? Take them and get in the escape pod and leave when you think the time is right.”
“Got it…okay…wait, Professor Lin, where are you going?”
“The warehouse.”
“Professor Lin, don’t…”
“What are you doing in the warehouse? It’s dangerous here!” Arnold shouted after him over the comm channel.
“Pull the Marshal off the mecha.” Lin Xu knew exactly what he was doing, “I’m a beta, he can’t smell pheromones and won’t be hostile to me.”
That’s true in physiological science, but you may not have the strength to pull the Marshal out!
Arnold was one step closer to the brink of collapse.
