Truthfully, Li Sinian didn’t care much about the grudges of the previous generation. But for some reason, Jiang Rongxuan seemed especially fixated on it.
Normally, if Li Sinian said to drop something, Jiang Rongxuan would listen. But when it came to the question of his parentage, even after Li Sinian said it didn’t matter, Jiang Rongxuan insisted on digging into it.
Seeing he couldn’t dissuade him, Li Sinian let him be.
The online drama finally came to an end.
The chain of juicy scandals from the wealthy Li family brought quite a bit of attention to the restaurant, boosting business to an all-time high. Jiang Rongxuan even started making plans to expand their branches into third-tier cities.
Compared to the restaurant’s prosperity, the Li Corporation was in shambles.
Jiang Rongxuan informed him that Li Cheng had been taken to the hospital by ambulance three days ago and hadn’t left since. The diagnosis remained confidential, and no one had managed to uncover it. But Li Sinian had seen his medical report before—it was cirrhosis. Given how long he’d been hospitalized, it probably had progressed to liver cancer.
Li Corporation’s stock was plummeting, its business suffering. In just the past week, a wave of online returns hit their e-commerce platforms hard.
And since it was the chairman’s son who had stirred up all this turmoil, other shareholders began attacking Li Cheng, using it as an excuse to demand he step down from his position.
Li Cheng was now under fire from all sides.
The only person staying at his side in the hospital was Li Wenxing. Lian Menglei hadn’t visited even once.
She remained as distant and indifferent as ever, treating the chaos like a bystander would. Whether it was the online battle between the restaurant and Li Corporation, or Li Cheng’s hospitalization, she never showed any concern.
Li Sinian wasn’t surprised. His mother had always been this way. He used to wonder why, but now that he understood her past, he finally saw clearly why Lian Menglei had always been absent throughout their childhood.
Once the internet quieted down, Li Sinian’s life returned to normal.
He still lived in the house at Mulin Village, spending his days watering flowers, raising cats, exercising, and cooking. Meals were still the highlight of each day.
The only difference was that he no longer filmed videos, nor did he log back into his account on C-Platform.
He’d already beaten Plants vs. Zombies, so he moved on to a new game to pass the time: Candy Crush.
With over two thousand levels, it would keep him busy for a while.
That day, after finishing his workout and picking up groceries, Li Sinian returned home—only to find someone standing at the village entrance.
Most of the villagers worked on the nearby farm during the day, so the place was usually empty. With no one else around, the lone figure stood out sharply.
As he approached, Li Sinian realized it was Lin Yuan.
He used to like Lin Yuan. Back then, he could recognize him at a glance in any crowd. Now that the feelings were gone, even with Lin Yuan standing alone in the open, it took a moment for him to register who it was.
Funny how feelings changed.
Li Sinian didn’t speed up. He leisurely walked forward, groceries in hand. Lin Yuan heard his footsteps, turned, and upon seeing him, lit up with surprise and joy.
“A’Nian!” Lin Yuan came toward him. “I sent you WeChat messages and realized you blocked me. I tried calling, but it seems I’m blocked there too. I had no choice but to come find you.”
“Oh.” Li Sinian nodded. “So what do you want?”
He stood in place, making no move to invite Lin Yuan inside. In fact, he was blocking the door.
Lin Yuan glanced at the yard behind him and licked his lips. “I just… missed you a little. So I came to see how you were doing.”
Li Sinian chuckled. “Missed me? I’ve been gone from the house all this time and you didn’t miss me once—why suddenly now?”
“Oh, let me guess. Li Wenxing stopped talking to you, or maybe you realized he wasn’t as great as you thought. So now you remembered me, is that it?”
Being called out so directly made Lin Yuan’s face turn sour. “A’Nian, why are you talking like that?”
“How am I talking? I’m just telling the truth.” Li Sinian shot him a sideways glance, shifted everything to one hand, and opened the door. “You said you came to see me, and now you’ve seen me. I’m doing fine. No need to worry. You can leave.”
Seeing that Li Sinian was about to go inside without even a hint of inviting him in, Lin Yuan panicked. “A’Nian! Wait! I have something to say!”
The courtyard gate only reached Li Sinian’s chest. He turned and closed it, speaking to Lin Yuan over the fence.
“What else is there to say?”
Lin Yuan looked at the closed gate and, after a beat of hesitation, blurted, “Aren’t you going to invite me in to sit down?”
Li Sinian smiled. “Sorry. You are not exactly welcome here.”
Lin Yuan: “…”
“What is it you wanted to say? I need to cook dinner.”
Realizing Li Sinian wasn’t going to humor him, Lin Yuan didn’t dare act smug anymore. “I just wanted to warn you—Jiang Rongxuan isn’t a good guy. You should stay away from him.”
Li Sinian nodded. “Got it. Anything else?”
“Seriously, what’s wrong with you? You won’t even listen to someone trying to help?” Lin Yuan grew irritated. “Jiang Rongxuan’s still young, yet he’s already taken control of so many shares and branch companies in the Jiang Family. Do you really think someone like that is simple?”
“You’re working with him now, right? Everything probably feels great—little work, big profits. But that’s all on purpose. He’s treating you well to get you to lower your guard. The moment you fully trust him, he’ll take everything from you!”
“Your shares, your assets, your formulas—he’ll take them all!”
“Don’t be fooled by that clean, innocent look. I’m telling you, he’s full of bad intentions. You need to stay away from him!”
Li Sinian gave a noncommittal hum and slowly shifted his gaze past Lin Yuan’s shoulder. “Funny. That’s exactly how he described you.”
Lin Yuan’s heart jumped. He spun around—and saw Jiang Rongxuan standing not far behind him.
He stood tall and graceful, dressed simply in a white hoodie. His hair was soft and tousled, radiating a youthful charm. But the coldness in his eyes made it impossible to mistake him for just some innocent boy.
Jiang Rongxuan looked at Lin Yuan, the corners of his lips slowly curving into a smile.
“Older brother. Long time no see.”
Older brother?
Li Sinian’s gaze flicked between the two of them.
Jiang Rongxuan liked calling him older brother—but that sentence had clearly been directed at Lin Yuan. So… he was calling Lin Yuan “older brother.”
Jiang Rongxuan calling Lin Yuan older brother—could it be…
Lin Yuan stared at Jiang Rongxuan with sharp eyes. “When did you get here?”
“When you were telling Li Sinian to stay away from me.”
“How dare you eavesdrop on other people’s conversations?!”
Jiang Rongxuan chuckled. “Older brother, your voice was loud enough to not need a megaphone. Anyone with ears could hear you. And now you’re blaming me for listening?”
As he spoke, he stepped around Lin Yuan and walked up to the gate.
“Older brother,” he said to Li Sinian, “can you open the door for me?”
Li Sinian’s attitude toward Jiang Rongxuan was entirely different from how he treated Lin Yuan.
Without a word, he opened the gate and even gave him a small smile.
Even though Lin Yuan already knew things between them had changed, he still couldn’t stop himself from snapping.
“A’Nian, what’s wrong with you?! Didn’t I just tell you to stay away from him?!”
Jiang Rongxuan turned back around, the smile still on his face, though it didn’t reach his eyes.
“A’Nian? That sounds awfully intimate. Who told you you could call him that?”

All these families with their messy relationships is getting interesting 😉☺️
Yeah, who told you you can call my “gege” A Nian! It was just so pretentious.
I would be adamant too to find out what the real story is about Li Si Nian’s parents. Better too clean everything up for once.
I suddenly thought this, bad peoples really flock with bad peoples, good peoples flock with good peoples and should stay far away from those bad peoples.
Li family are getting their just deserts. I feel some sympathy for LS’s mother, but neglecting LS and ignoring his mistreatment by LC, was unforgiveable. It wasn’t her son’s fault.
So, why’s JR calling fickle LY, ‘older brother’?!……
Thank you both for the chapter.
