Chapter 13: Kiss

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

The two lay in bed, separated by a blanket, gazing together at the moon and the stars outside the camper van’s skylight.

“Duan Yizhou.”

“Yeah.”

“I thought you only agreed to date me because you liked me.”

“I’m sorry, I really am.”

“You’re the first person I’ve liked, and you just deceived me like that. You really need to make it up to my innocent heart.”

“How do you want me to make it up to you?”

“By being my boyfriend.”

Duan Yizhou’s heart tightened, but before his heartbeat could settle, he saw Luo Songran directly crossing over the blanket between them, lying on his chest. His slightly cool arm rested on his, their faces inches apart, close enough to see the tiny hairs on each other’s faces. Luo Songran’s amber eyes gazed at him with utmost sincerity.

The citrusy rose pheromones belonging to a beta wafted between them, seemingly ineffective yet fragrant enough to quicken the heart. A type Betas were truly audacious.

“Will you, Uncle Duan?” Luo Songran’s arms crossed on Duan Yizhou’s chest, and he rested his head on his arms, staring deeply into Duan Yizhou’s eyes.

Before using the aphrodisiac, he had to win over this man. The proximity between them filled the space with ambiguity, both close yet distant.

Duan Yizhou met Luo Songran’s gaze, affectionate and intense. This closeness made his heart race, and for the first time, he tasted nervousness.

From childhood, apart from studying, he only studied. At sixteen, he was already a member of the teenage genius class at university. At seventeen, a paper on “Human Memory Chip” was published in Nature, making him the inventor of this breakthrough technology in implantable medical fields. He spent most of his time in the research institute laboratory, engrossed in his studies. Not to mention omegas, he didn’t even have betas around him, only purebred straight alphas, a bunch of tough guys.

So, since returning to the country two years ago, he had only just come out of his family’s Neptune Technology Group’s research institute last week. His father had stepped down, and he officially took over the group. That was when he truly began to engage in business and interpersonal relationships in this circle. But he never expected that he would be at a loss because of this little beta before even encountering an omega.

Just like now, saying he should be his boyfriend. That was definitely not his intention in getting closer.

“Will you, cousin?” Luo Songran seized the opportunity, his hand caressing Duan Yizhou’s sturdy chest, feeling the accelerated heartbeat. He didn’t believe any alpha could resist being called cousin by him. “Be my boyfriend.”

This ‘cousin’ really made Duan Yizhou feel different. How different? It was really different from being called professor or uncle, especially when this kid said it so sweetly, melting his heart. It was truly against the rules.

“RanRan, you need to understand that there are too many uncertainties between us: age, gender, you’re still a student, and I’m already a working professional. Also, personalities, preferences, these are all things that need serious consideration.”

“No need.”

Duan Yizhou was speechless. Kids these days were so confident.

“As long as I like you, you like me, what can’t we overcome?” Luo Songran flicked the glasses on Duan Yizhou’s nose with his fingertip, smiling. “You’re older than me, so you’ll take care of me. I’m younger, so I’ll listen to you. If you do something wrong, I’ll tell you, and if I do something wrong, you can spank me.”

Spanking and such, not serious at all.

Duan Yizhou grasped his unruly hand, his gaze deepening. “RanRan, you’re still young and haven’t thought about many things. You need to understand that being in a relationship isn’t a joke. If we start, we have to take it seriously. Do you understand what that means?”

Could this kid really understand what it meant to provoke a thirty-year-old man? It meant heading towards marriage.

“I’m serious.” Luo Songran’s eyes were incredibly earnest as he played with Duan Yizhou’s glasses near his ears.

Duan Yizhou let him. “We’ve only known each other for two days. You fell for me at first sight and now want to be with me. Can you be sure that I’m the person you want after just two days?”

“Doesn’t the fact that we’re lying together mean anything?” Luo Songran’s lips curled slightly as he used his fingers to hook off Duan Yizhou’s glasses and leaned down to kiss his lips.

The glass roof of the camper van reflected their figures. The young man lying on the tall man’s chest, fingers playing with the glasses, the other hand caressing the man’s cheek, kissing him.

Thump, thump, thump… A very excited heartbeat, pounding like drums in the chest.

Duan Yizhou wondered, could someone fall in love with another person in just two days? Did it not matter what gender the other person was? Was he the kind of man who would casually lie in bed with someone and accept kisses?

He wasn’t.

Before Luo Songran could kiss him enough, he felt himself being pulled back to his original sleeping position by Duan Yizhou. Then, the blanket in the middle was wrapped around him tightly, as if afraid he would run off. Struggling under the blanket, Luo Songran exclaimed, “Duan Yizhou!”

“Calm down.” Duan Yizhou, to prevent this little troublemaker from climbing back onto him, could only hold him through the blanket.

Luo Songran had never encountered an alpha so unromantic, and being pinned down like this, he struggled to breathe. “Let me go.”

“If I let you go, you’ll climb back up.”

Luo Songran was speechless. Was he really that bad? “I won’t.”

“Really?” Duan Yizhou was somewhat skeptical; that little troublemaker just now seemed like he wanted to swallow him whole.

“Really.” Feeling suffocated under Duan Yizhou, Luo Songran tilted his head back, took a deep breath, and then weakly said, “…You’re crushing me, it’s so heavy.”

His voice of surrender was as soft as a kitten, extremely submissive. This made Duan Yizhou feel like he was holding a hot potato, so he let go. Sitting on the edge of the bed with his back to Luo Songran, his Adam’s apple bobbed. “Sorry.”

Luo Songran pulled the blanket off himself and saw Duan Yizhou sitting with his back to him. The dissatisfaction in his heart grew stronger. Everyone else wanted him to get closer, but this man didn’t. And the more he resisted, the more Luo Songran wanted him.

“Give me a few more days to think, okay?”

Luo Songran paused, furrowing his brows. “What?”

“If I really decide to pursue a relationship, I’ll be completely devoted, seeing only you, liking you with marriage as a premise, taking care of you, cherishing you, and loving you forever. But for now, you’re just someone I’m observing.” Duan Yizhou was honest. For him, love should never be rushed.

But why was he even considering a relationship with marriage as a premise? Luo Songran was stunned. He blinked as if contemplating something, then smiled as if he had figured something out. “Okay, I’ll wait for you.”

He hadn’t lost. This man had taken the bait.

“Let’s sleep.” Duan Yizhou got up from the bed and grabbed a pillow, heading to the sofa opposite.

Luo Songran was stunned. “Why are you sleeping on the sofa? The bed is so big.”

Duan Yizhou, tall and long-limbed, felt a bit awkward lying on the sofa, but he still chose the safest option. “RanRan, I’m an alpha.”

In other words, alphas were dangerous. Luo Songran was speechless. Why was he so shy? He laughed out loud. The car lights went out, leaving only the dim light on the bedside. The bedroom was quiet except for their breathing.

Luo Songran lay on his side, his head cradled in his arms, gazing at Duan Yizhou sleeping on the sofa. His gaze traced every inch of his face. He liked that face, really liked it. His figure was also very good, tall and sturdy. His abs must be very nice. He wanted to touch them.

Although he could be a bit direct sometimes, he could also be very gentle, caring, and considerate. He couldn’t cook, but he wasn’t picky about anything. Sometimes he got angry at things without realizing it, but his apologies were sincere.

So, was this important? Not really. Being handsome and having a good figure were the most important. Luo Songran pulled the blanket over his head, turned onto his side, and chuckled softly.

Unaware that when he turned over, the alpha on the sofa was staring at him, his eyes filled with incomprehension.

The next day— Because it was Monday, Luo Songran had classes, so Duan Yizhou drove him back to school.

“Uncle Duan, I’ll miss you. You have to miss me too.” Luo Songran unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned over to kiss Duan Yizhou’s lips.

Duan Yizhou was stunned. “Don’t kiss people casually.”

This time Luo Songran was a bit dissatisfied. He looked at Duan Yizhou resentfully. “I only kiss you because I like you. I wouldn’t want to kiss anyone else.”

“But I don’t like you yet.”

Luo Songran was instantly stimulated by Duan Yizhou’s words. He leaned back in his seat, pretending to be relaxed. “That’s okay, I like you, and that’s enough. I like you willingly, so you don’t have to feel any psychological burden.”

“I do feel burdened,” Duan Yizhou said, “so I will seriously consider turning you from an observation subject into a love interest.”

Luo Songran laughed. “Professor Duan, are you always so meticulous about everything? It’s just for fun; you’re so serious.”

“I won’t act recklessly. Give me some time, okay?”

Listening, Luo Songran opened the passenger door, ready to get out. Before getting out, he leaned closer to Duan Yizhou’s face and kissed his cheek. “Okay, I’ll wait for you.” He had plenty of patience.

After saying that, he got out of the car and closed the door.

Duan Yizhou was stunned. He touched his kissed cheek and watched Luo Songran walk into the school gate. He couldn’t move his gaze away for a long time, seriously contemplating. Meanwhile, the lingering scent of citrusy rose pheromones in the car disturbed his thoughts.

Things had developed to this point definitely not because of his intention, but after spending the night, he was already clear about his feelings. He seemed to have some difficulty resisting Luo Songran’s closeness.

Clearly, he shouldn’t be like this.

Just then, his assistant’s call came in, and he answered it.

“Mr. Duan, on Wednesday afternoon, F Country’s Gemini Group is willing to discuss the matter of new materials with you. I’ve already booked your flight for Tuesday at noon.”

Duan Yizhou remained silent for a moment before replying, “Okay, I got it.”

Before the business trip, he decided to observe the little troublemaker a bit more.

Author’s Note:

RanRan: Just a business trip, I’ll come to you after I finish the aphrodisiac~

[Today’s Comedy Sketch]

[The Rabbit Reporter’s Interview with Mr. Duan’s Assistant, Jiang Yi]

Rabbit Reporter: Hello, Assistant Jiang Yi. How long have you been with Mr. Duan?

Jiang Yi: Three years.

Rabbit Reporter: In these three years, has anything memorable happened that left a deep impression on you?

Jiang Yi: There was one incident that was quite extraordinary, something normal people wouldn’t do.

The Rabbit Reporter’s eyes lit up: Oh? What happened?

Jiang Yi: Once, Mr. Duan had an argument with the little ancestor. The little ancestor was so angry that he went to a hotel to spend the night, coincidentally ending up at one of our hotel chains under Mr. Duan’s name. The little ancestor was already furious, and then, the elevator doors closed one second faster than his footsteps. This made the little ancestor cry out of anger. What did he do next? He said he wanted to dismantle the elevator.

Rabbit Reporter: That’s outrageous! And then?

Jiang Yi: What else could be done? Mr. Duan knew the elevator had angered the little ancestor, so he really had it dismantled, right in front of the little ancestor.

Rabbit Reporter: … [Wow]

Jiang Yi: We all discuss in private that Mr. Duan’s degree of spoiling his wife is truly blind, and it’s a kind of blindness that’s unimaginable. But we can also understand why Mr. Duan is so blind.

The Rabbit Reporter perked up: Why is that?

Jiang Yi: I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the little ancestor throwing a tantrum and then acting cute to Mr. Duan afterward. Who wouldn’t love a little ancestor like that, who throws tantrums but also apologizes?

Rabbit Reporter: Do you love him?

Jiang Yi: Can I dare to love him? [Smiles]

  1. Neither has met anyone like the other before, and they are chalk and cheese in character… but so amusing.
I wonder what Mr Luo Panzhi’s thoughts would (will) be.
Thank you both for the chapter.
