Duan Yizhou could tell that Luo Songran was not happy, so he smiled and said, “It’s a bit hot outside, let’s go in first.”
Luo Songran didn’t say anything and walked into the house. His father behind him looked at the two of them with suspicion, feeling that the atmosphere was a bit strange.
In the dining room, Dad had already prepared a sumptuous lunch. Seeing that the children had all arrived, he said, “You came back just in time. Let me wash my hands and come, you guys sit down first.” He walked back to the kitchen and said, “RanRan, you must thank Yizhou. He worked hard to develop the Super Memory Chip 2.0 for you.”
Guyu Xi smiled and gestured for Duan Yizhou to sit down first, then followed into the kitchen.
Luo Songran sat in his usual seat, playing with the crystal vase beside him boredly. When he heard his dad say that, he replied, “Actually, wouldn’t I be fine without the chip? Having a chip is like being under surveillance; no privacy, no freedom.”
“The positioning function of the chip is managed by the public security organs. Except with your consent, others have no right to access your body data,” Duan Yizhou looked at Luo Songran sideways, sensing his displeasure, “Due to the special nature of your body and because you might be afraid and worried about the safety of the surgery, after the surgery, Director Luo asked me to remotely observe you for a month with the chip.”
“Remote?” Luo Songran laughed, “Pretty ‘remote’.”
Clearly, he didn’t even tell him that he was coming to his house for lunch. Intentional, wasn’t it?
“What’s going on with you two?” Dad walked out of the kitchen, hearing the tone of their conversation, sizing them up, “You two speak as if you already know each other?”
Duan Yizhou subconsciously glanced at Luo Songran when he heard this.
Luo Songran flicked the dewy fresh roses in the vase with his fingertips, seemingly aware of Duan Yizhou’s gaze. He turned his eyes slightly and met the man’s seeking gaze, smiling, “Why wouldn’t we know each other? Brother Yizhou is the professor of the elective course I chose. Fate, right, Brother Yizhou?”
The sweet “Brother Yizhou” made Duan Yizhou’s heart tremble, and he also sensed the resentment in this guy. He was angry that he didn’t tell him they were coming to his house for lunch today.
“Yeah, fate,” Duan Yizhou responded.
At this point, the atmosphere in the dining room was harmonious.
After everyone sat down, Dad looked at the two people in front of the table. His gaze lingered on his son for a while, then shifted to Duan Yizhou, “Yizhou, you said there’s something important to tell me. Is it about some issues with RanRan’s chip?”
“Yeah.”
Luo Songran poked at the rice with his chopsticks, his eyebrows slightly raised as he looked at Duan Yizhou. Biting his lip, somewhat annoyed, he reached under the table and gave the man a hard kick.
“Is it that the chip’s adaptation isn’t working well?” Dad looked at his son RanRan, seeing his somewhat angry expression, “RanRan, listen carefully. I asked you to come back for lunch today to let Yizhou personally tell you about it.”
“The chip adaptation is very good, one hundred percent,” Duan Yizhou let the little ancestor under the table vent his temper, and continued, “This is a very rare high adaptation, indicating that his condition is very healthy now. However, I found a problem that I came to ask Director Luo about today.”
Dad’s expression became serious, “Go on.”
“Does RanRan have a lover?”
Luo Songran’s foot movement under the table suddenly stopped. He stared at Duan Yizhou, suddenly feeling a sense of foreboding. His hand reached under the table and subtly tugged at Duan Yizhou’s hem.
Both dads shook their heads unconsciously, “No.” But they knew too well. They looked at their son, “Do you?”
Luo Songran was speechless. He smirked, not smiling. If Duan Yizhou asked him this, would he thank him? What is this man trying to do? So how should he answer, say yes, or no?
“Yes.”
Both old fathers’ eyes widened instantly, “You have a lover?! Omega or alpha? Or beta?”
Luo Songran’s hand under the table suddenly grabbed Duan Yizhou’s thigh and pinched it.
“The chip will record all aspects of the body throughout the process. RanRan’s adaptation to the chip is relatively poor compared to others. When the chip reaches one hundred percent adaptation, I roughly guessed that it might be the influence of his lover,” Duan Yizhou looked gently at Luo Songran, his eyes calm, “Whether he has a lover or not, I’m not sure, just speculation.”
Luo Songran’s right hand holding the chopsticks suddenly tightened. This man is clever, indirectly putting pressure on him.
Dad noticed that his son was starting to become distracted, “RanRan, what’s wrong with talking about love? Is it not going well?” At this point, Dad became a bit curious, “Yizhou, can falling in love really improve chip adaptation? This is the first time I’ve heard of it.”
Luo Songran stiffened, he glanced at Duan Yizhou with a hint of dread, his Adam’s apple rolled, ripples spread in his eyes, afraid that this man would say something he shouldn’t. No, Duan Yizhou probably doesn’t know anything. He shouldn’t scare himself.
“Yeah, if there’s compatibility.”
This ambiguous statement made Luo Songran suddenly breathe a sigh of relief. He lowered his head, looking at the rice in his bowl with a few holes poked in it. Duan Yizhou probably didn’t know about his pheromone coding being registered, thankfully.
“RanRan, next time bring your partner home for us to see. It’s a good thing to be in love. Why didn’t you tell Dad?”
Luo Songran chuckled awkwardly, stuffed some rice into his mouth, and mumbled, “Next time, he’s a bit shy.”
The shy person Duan, sat next to Dad Luo Panzhi, chatting happily.
During the meal, Duan Yizhou noticed that Luo Songran was indeed a very picky eater, even at his own home. It might be because of the pregnancy. He barely touched several dishes with strong flavors, just focusing on eating vegetables and avoiding meat.
“Director Luo, does RanRan not eat much at home either? I see he eats very little.” He asked. During the time he spent with him, he found that this guy was picky about food, just like a cat.
Luo Panzhi sighed, “Well, it depends on his appetite. But he is indeed picky. Mainly because he has allergies, he can’t eat many things. Since childhood, he hasn’t had much he could eat, and he’s tired of the same things.”
Luo Songran glanced at Duan Yizhou, “Brother Yizhou, you have a lot of problems with your eating.” After saying that, he kicked him again, signaling him to be quiet.
“RanRan, that’s not polite. Yizhou cares about you.” Gu Yuxi served a bowl of soup to Luo Songran, “I don’t know if you eat on time at school, but you seem to have gained some weight, so you must be eating well.”
Luo Songran subconsciously touched his face. He looked nervously at Duan Yizhou, “Did my face get fatter? Is it obvious?”
Could you tell that he had gained weight just half a month into his pregnancy? It’s highly unlikely, right?
Duan Yizhou looked at the slightly chubby face, “Not obvious.”
Only then did Luo Songran breathe a sigh of relief. He sarcastically pursed his lips, “Dad, don’t scare me.”
But the next moment after he said that, he froze. He slowly raised his head, meeting the skeptical gazes of Dad and Dad Luo Panzhi in front of him. Suddenly, he realized why he had asked Duan Yizhou just now. If it was just a normal teacher-student relationship, how could he know whether he had gained weight or not?
The atmosphere became subtle, like there was something fishy going on. He really wanted to find a hole to crawl into and calm down. Under the table, he touched Duan Yizhou’s leg somewhat despairingly.
“RanRan is quite serious about his elective courses. He often comes to me with questions after class, so we’re quite familiar with each other.” Duan Yizhou smoothed things over to avoid this guy getting angry at him later in the evening. It wouldn’t be as easy to placate him then as it is now, “We’ve also had a few meals together, so I know his appetite isn’t very good, that’s why I asked Director Luo.”
When Luo Songran heard Duan Yizhou say this, he breathed a sigh of relief. He put down his chopsticks, “I’m full, I’ll go upstairs to get something.”
This lunch was a trap set by Duan Yizhou. His dads were both very shrewd people, especially his lawyer dad. Even he found these sloppy loopholes strange. Now he was afraid they would find it strange too.
Of course, thinking they were in a relationship was just a small matter. The important thing was that he accidentally got pregnant with the sexual stimulant. Now he couldn’t abort the baby, and being discovered was just a matter of time. So, in order to make things easier in the future, he must sneak into the household register now, quickly get a marriage certificate with Duan Yizhou, and then this man would have nothing to say to him and wouldn’t easily manipulate him.
Duan Yizhou looked at the rice in Luo Songran’s bowl, which he hadn’t eaten much of, discreetly retracting his gaze. He thought to himself, even though the food here is so delicious, he doesn’t love eating. Maybe it’s not a problem with his cooking skills, but Luo Songran’s delicate stomach.
“Don’t mind him, Yizhou, this guy has been spoiled by us and has a bad temper.” Luo Panzhi gestured for Duan Yizhou to eat quickly, “Here, try some of your Uncle Luo’s cooking, passed down for generations.”
Hearing this, Duan Yizhou suddenly remembered something Luo Songran had said. He paused with his chopsticks in hand, “Uncle Luo, I heard that the alphas in your family are very good at cooking. Is that true?”
Luo Panzhi glanced at his husband and cleared his throat, “Well, it’s not entirely true. What our Luo family emphasizes is not cooking, but taking care of our spouses. The focus is on preparing healthy and nutritious meals to keep them healthy and chubby. Why do you suddenly ask?”
“It’s just that I can’t cook.” Duan Yizhou said with a slightly embarrassed expression, “I want to learn how to cook.”
“In love?” Gu Yuxi chuckled, “Who could win over Yizhou?”
Duan Yizhou thought to himself, your son, but he couldn’t say it. So, he turned his gaze to Luo Panzhi, “Uncle Luo, if it’s convenient, can I come to learn cooking from you? Just teach me a few dishes.”
Learning from Luo Songran’s dad would indeed be the most reliable option, but I wonder if there’s an opportunity for that.
Luo Panzhi was somewhat surprised to hear this request. “Actually, you could hire a professional chef to teach you. Why would you want me to teach you? It’s not that I don’t have time. If it’s on the weekend, I can manage it. I’m just curious why you’d come to me for advice.”
“Because you cook with love for someone special, so your dishes must have the most homey taste. I don’t want to learn just any ordinary dish. I want to learn dishes that will make the other person remember them fondly,” Duan Yizhou said sincerely.
Just as Luo Songran felt Duan Yizhou’s gaze on him, he silently stood up and went upstairs. Impossible. Based on Duan Yizhou’s skills, he definitely couldn’t make dishes that would make him remember them fondly. Absolutely not delicious!!

I don’t get why DY would think any of this a good idea.
Surely LS’s dads will be unhappy when they find out the truth, and realise that at this point in time, they were being deceived.
Unless he intends to be open about the whole series of events, in explanation, which I thought they were avoiding.
So far LS hasn’t once, that I remember, thought of the life growing inside him. Sad.
Still not liking him.
Thank you both for the chapter.
