Chapter 63: Wedding

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

“Yizhou, long time no see.”

Duan Yizhou looked at the elder in front of him whom he hadn’t seen for a long time, Luo Songran’s grandfather, Chu Yiqiao. Just sitting in front of him, he could feel the inherent aura of this Omega, an indescribable sense of oppression, almost overshadowing the presence of an alpha. He had seen him a few times before going abroad. According to seniority, he should address him as Grandfather Chu.

But why did he suddenly come to find him? Could it be about him and Luo Songran…?

“Grandfather Chu, long time no see.” Duan Yizhou personally poured tea for Grandfather Chu, smiling, “I wonder what Grandfather Chu wants to discuss with me?”

“There is indeed something I want to discuss with you.” Grandfather Chu didn’t exert too much pressure on the younger generation. He leaned back on the sofa, his expression calm. “It’s about the wedding banquet between you and our RanRan.”

Duan Yizhou’s hand holding the teapot trembled slightly. He slowly raised his eyes, surprise flickering beneath his glasses. “…Wedding banquet?”

“No need to hide, we all know.” Grandfather Chu picked up the tea cup in front of him and took a sip. The good tea relaxed his expression a bit. He looked at Duan Yizhou, “RanRan used pheromone agents to force you, right?”

Duan Yizhou never expected that his family already knew about him and Luo Songran. This was clearly the thing Luo Songran feared the most. Did he tell them himself? Were there any repercussions from his family? Why didn’t he tell him anything?

“It wasn’t coercion.”

Listening to his answer, Grandfather Chu raised an eyebrow. “Hmm? Not coercion?”

Duan Yizhou pushed his glasses and his expression became steady. “RanRan didn’t force me. If I didn’t like him, I wouldn’t have touched him just because of the pheromone agents. Maybe in his eyes, his actions were defined as coercion, but in my opinion, I did it willingly.”

“So, it can be understood that the use of pheromone agents was a mutual agreement at the time?”

Duan Yizhou nodded. “Yes.”

Grandfather Chu’s lips curved slightly. He was quite satisfied with this tactful explanation. “Yizhou, as family, we only heard one side of the story from RanRan, including his deception of your feelings and what happened later, until now when he says he cannot be without you. Throughout the whole ordeal, you were the one who suffered grievances. Grandfather apologizes to you on behalf of RanRan.”

Duan Yizhou felt a bit flustered. How could he let Luo Songran’s grandfather apologize to him? He quickly got up to pour tea for Grandfather Chu. “How could I have suffered grievances? RanRan is the one who is suffering because he’s pregnant. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have suffered. Grandfather Chu, you’re exaggerating.”

“Maybe we spoiled our RanRan. His temper hasn’t been good since he was a child.”

“In my eyes, RanRan’s temper is cute. That’s what I like about him.”

“You also know, RanRan was a premature baby, and his health condition isn’t very good.”

“Grandfather Chu, you can rest assured, I will never ask for a second child.”

As Duan Yizhou said this, he suddenly remembered something, the matter of Luo Songran’s pregnancy… Grandfather Chu seemed to notice Duan Yizhou’s silence. He smiled. “We know RanRan is pregnant. He admitted it himself, including your marriage registration and pheromones coding. He mentioned all of it.”

This surprised Duan Yizhou a bit. After all, this guy was afraid of his family finding out about his pregnancy before, but now he’s being honest. It seems like he’s really serious now. And braver than he imagined, “What about twins…”

This time Grandfather Chu was stunned for a few seconds, then laughed, “RanRan is pregnant with twins?”

Duan Yizhou saw Grandfather Chu’s reaction and knew he didn’t know about this. He smiled and nodded. “Yes, we found out a few days ago during the check-up. We’re having twins.”

“Yizhou, Grandfather has no demands. Our families are compatible, you’re young and successful in your career. Grandfather just hopes you can be more tolerant of RanRan, teach him more, and be patient with him. He is the treasure of our Luo family. Please, take good care of him.”

Hearing these words, Duan Yizhou already understood that the Luo family didn’t have any objections to him. They even approved of him. He was really surprised. Getting approval from Luo Songran’s family was much easier than he imagined. A warm feeling surged in his heart. He nodded, “I will, because I really like him.”

“Come to our house sometime.”

“Sure.” Duan Yizhou knew he couldn’t avoid meeting the parents. Knowing how much Director Luo cherished RanRan, he anticipated a scolding, but he was willing to endure it.

“As for the wedding, it can wait until after the children are born,” Grandpa Chu said, pushing a leather bag towards Duan Yizhou. “And here, a little token to express our attitude towards this marriage. Open it and take a look.”

Duan Yizhou hesitantly accepted the thick document. Upon opening it, the first thing that caught his eye was the commitment letter promising a discount on the secondary differentiation special drug project. He frowned, then saw the percentage of the discount. Eyes widening behind his glasses, he incredulously looked up at Grandpa Chu. “…An additional thirty percent discount to Neptune on top of the original?!”

What did that mean? Originally, they, as the technical party, held thirty percent of the project, while the Galaxy Group, as the investor and operator, held seventy percent. If they added another thirty percent to Neptune, it would mean Neptune owned sixty percent of the project!

In simpler terms, the Galaxy Group was essentially handing over the project to Neptune Technologies.

“Keep reading,” Grandpa Chu chuckled.

Duan Yizhou’s heart skipped a beat. He thought there might be even greater surprises waiting for him. So, he unfolded the thick document in his hand and turned to the next page. His hand trembled involuntarily.

“The operating market sales rights of the secondary differentiation special drug in Northern Europe and South America belong to Neptune Technologies,” and also—”The Galaxy Group promises to give Neptune Technologies a thirty percent discount on all cooperative projects.”

Duan Yizhou felt like he was holding half of the Galaxy Group in his hands. In other words, the documents Luo’s family handed him conveyed the importance of Luo Songran to their family. It was a surprise and, at the same time, pressure for him.

“This is Luo’s family’s attitude in entrusting their precious child to you, Yizhou. I also want to see your attitude,” Grandpa Chu said after sipping his tea, his tone serious. “After all, our RanRan is a Class A beta. Despite the existence of sexual inducers, they cannot replace marking. How can you assure us that RanRan won’t suffer any grievances without proper marking?”

Duan Yizhou knew he couldn’t escape making such a statement. Now it was Grandpa Chu, but perhaps someday the fathers of the little ancestors would come to him. The degree to which Luo’s family valued Luo Songran didn’t surprise him; instead, it made him more keenly aware that this time he could truly announce to everyone that he and Luo Songran were spouses.

He looked at Grandpa Chu, his gaze sincere. “No amount of benefit can measure my feelings for RanRan. But to show my attitude and determination to be with RanRan, I am willing to unconditionally grant all my patents to the Galaxy Group indefinitely.”

Grandpa Chu laughed. “You’re quite smart. The Galaxy Group grants a thirty percent discount to Neptune Technologies, and you unconditionally grant patents to the Galaxy Group. It’s mutually beneficial.”

“Not entirely mutually beneficial,” Duan Yizhou said as he refilled Grandpa Chu’s tea. He looked up at him and smiled. “I willingly serve the Galaxy Group.”

Grandpa Chu looked at his son-in-law with increasing fondness. Satisfied and reassured, he said, “With you around, I’m at ease. We’re all quite worried about this rascal RanRan. With the pregnancy and his careless nature, many things can’t be done properly. But he’s also quite bold. Last time, when he insisted on extracting pheromones for you during your sensitive period, he scared us to death when he fainted from a high fever.”

A crisp sound of ceramic against glass startled Duan Yizhou, his face suddenly changing. The hand holding the teapot paused in mid-air as he looked at Grandpa Chu in astonishment. “What did you say? He extracted pheromones for me?”

He never mentioned his sensitive period to Luo Songran. There was only one person who knew about his sensitive period, and that was Jiang Yi. Ignoring Jiang Yi for now, Luo Songran fainting from a high fever?

“He didn’t tell me,” Duan Yizhou’s usual calm demeanor faltered, mainly due to panic. He slowly placed the teapot back on the glass table, his gaze darkening momentarily. No wonder he felt strange that night when he was injected with the tranquilizer; it worked exceptionally well. Now he understood why—it was because Luo Songran had extracted pheromones from the gland for him.

You couldn’t extract pheromones during pregnancy. Fainting from a high fever… He took a deep breath, pinched his nose bridge, trying to regain composure, but the feeling of panic still swept over him, making him feel somewhat weak.

Grandpa Chu noticed Duan Yizhou’s reaction. “It seems RanRan didn’t tell you either. This guy never shares his worries, always keeps the good news to himself, just like when he was studying abroad. Now that he’s pregnant, we’re still a bit worried. After observing him in the hospital for two days, the doctor reluctantly let him leave because he wanted to see you.”

Duan Yizhou anxiously asked, “What did the doctor say?”

“Thanks to timely discovery, otherwise, the consequences would have been troublesome. He had a high fever that day, then a low-grade fever for two days. He kept wanting to go back to see you. In the end, the doctor had no choice but to discharge him.”

Duan Yizhou’s complexion grew even worse, and his hand on his knee inadvertently broke out in a cold sweat.

Grandpa Chu continued, “Yizhou, sometimes you need to be strict with him, especially in these dangerous situations. I understand your discomfort during your sensitive period, but RanRan is in his pregnancy now. Both sexual inducers and extracting pheromones are not allowed.”

Duan Yizhou nodded heavily. “I understand, Grandpa. I won’t allow him to do such things.”

It seemed necessary to get this disobedient little ancestor to hand over the authorization of the Super Memory Chip to him. After all, the little ancestor couldn’t carry it around in his pocket. This incident could be used to ‘educate’ this disobedient little ancestor.

Extracting pheromones during pregnancy?! Who on earth told Luo Songran? He only told one person about his impending sensitive period.

“It’s about time. I won’t delay any longer,” Grandpa Chu stood up.

“Alright, I’ll walk you out.”

After personally seeing Grandpa Chu off from the company, Duan Yizhou’s expression changed instantly as he passed the front desk. He instructed the receptionist there, “Ask Jiang Yi to come to my office.”

The receptionist glanced cautiously at Mr. Duan, noticing his terrifying expression—she had never seen him like this before. She picked up the phone and dialed Jiang Yi’s number. “Sure, Mr. Duan, I’ll make the call.”

Duan Yizhou walked towards the elevator with an expressionless face. One thing at a time.

Knock, knock, knock—

“…Mr. Duan, I’m here.”

“Come in.”

In the office, Jiang Yi heard Duan Yizhou’s cold and indifferent voice from inside. His back chilled as he took a deep breath and pushed open the door, meeting Duan Yizhou’s gaze, which exuded a palpable pressure. His heart skipped a beat. Suddenly, he realized what might be happening.

Duan Yizhou stared at Jiang Yi as he entered, his face grim. “Jiang Yi, what did I tell you last time? Didn’t I tell you not to tell RanRan about my sensitive period? Why did you still go to him?”

Jiang Yi felt his entire body turn cold, realizing it was because of this matter. He couldn’t help but feel remorseful; he was regretting it deeply. He had lost sleep over several nights, thinking about how to explain it to Duan Yizhou. But now, he has been found out. He knew he was in for severe consequences once he admitted it, “Duan… Mr. Duan, I…”

“Do you know about his pregnancy?” Duan Yizhou’s voice turned colder.

Jiang Yi felt like crying. “Master Luo told the doctor after taking his blood. That was when I found out he was pregnant. I regretted going to him at that time.”

“Why did you go to him?” Duan Yizhou felt the lingering fear again. “Even if he wasn’t pregnant, there’s still a certain risk involved in extracting pheromones. Do you know about the incident when he fainted from a high fever after the extraction?”

Jiang Yi was speechless. He felt like crying. This was it, he was done for. Full of self-blame, he looked at Duan Yizhou. “How… how is Master Luo now?”

Seeing his assistant on the verge of tears, Duan Yizhou took a deep breath to steady himself. He didn’t want to talk about it anymore; he felt like crying too. “It was just mentioned by Chairman Chu. Do you know how I feel right now? I feel weak and scared.”

He wished he could fly to Luo Songran right now and ask him why he didn’t tell him about this.

Jiang Yi also felt weak. He hurriedly walked up to Duan Yizhou, full of self-blame. “Mr. Duan, it’s my fault. I should never have gone to him and told him about your situation. If you want to fire me, I accept it. It’s my fault. I almost caused trouble for Master Luo.”

“Jiang Yi, you’re my assistant, my special assistant. Before doing anything, you should consider it thoroughly.” Duan Yizhou’s voice was stern. “I know why you went to see RanRan, but you shouldn’t have done it without my consent. What if something had really happened to him? Pregnancy, fever, and fainting—imagine how uncomfortable he must have been at that time. Even if he wasn’t pregnant, I wouldn’t have allowed this. You should be aware of my character. When I say not to tell him, it’s my decision.”

Jiang Yi lowered his head, accepting Duan Yizhou’s criticism. “Yes, I shouldn’t have acted on my own. It’s my fault, and I should accept the consequences.”

“I’m transferring you to the Marketing Department this month to assist the manager with projects related to the Galaxy Group. Any problems with that?”

Jiang Yi didn’t dare to voice any objections. He shook his head. “No problem. I will follow the arrangements.”

The psychological gap from being a special assistant to the CEO to becoming an assistant manager in the Marketing Department was immense, but he accepted the transfer. After all, it was the consequence of his own actions.

Duan Yizhou leaned back in his chair, looking at the disappointed Jiang Yi. His expression was calm. “I hope you understand that what I need by my side is not someone who acts on their own, but someone who assists me in assessing every risk. You should possess the ability to anticipate risks. Although this matter was a personal one, you still disappointed me.”

“I understand, Mr. Duan. I will learn from this.” Jiang Yi spoke softly, his head bowed.

“You may leave. I’ve already spoken to the manager of the Marketing Department.” Duan Yizhou turned his chair towards the floor-to-ceiling window.

“Okay, then I’ll go first.” After Jiang Yi left, he still couldn’t hold back his tears. He felt defeated. The position of special assistant to the CEO was hard-won, but this time he had indeed acted improperly.

As the office door closed slowly, Duan Yizhou’s hands, clasped on his lap, trembled imperceptibly, and his gaze under the golden rim of his glasses deepened slightly. There was no trace of the calmness he had just shown; it was the panic of over-rational restraint, and even his heartbeat was uncontrollably rapid.

He stood up abruptly. Next, it was time to find the little ancestor.
