Chapter 77: Help Me

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

“Cough, cough, cough—” In the damp, enclosed cement room, there came a slightly hoarse cough, perhaps indicating discomfort as it persisted for quite some time without ceasing. The dim light inside the room faintly illuminated the surroundings, vaguely revealing a figure curled up in the corner, with hands and feet bound.

Outside, there were faint sounds of glass bottles falling, along with indistinct murmurs.

“…I won’t end up strangling myself to death, will I?” Luo Songran, blindfolded and unable to see anything, could only listen to the noises outside, trying to stay alert. He struggled to reach forward with his bound hands, abrasively rubbing his wrists red, even leaving blood marks from the exertion.

He wanted to reach for the phone in his pocket. He had just placed Jiang Yi’s dropped phone into the pocket of his work pants, but unfortunately, his hands were tied behind him while the pocket was in front, making it incredibly difficult to retrieve.

Attempting to move his legs to create some slack, he tried to bend them to bring his hands closer, but both his knees and ankles were bound with fishing rope, completely restricting his movement. His ankles, exposed where the pants leg couldn’t cover, showed signs of abrasions and bleeding from the rope. He gritted his teeth and tried to break free from the fishing rope, but it was wound tightly around him, thin and made of nylon, making it not easy to escape from.

After struggling for a while, he felt drained and laid his sore hands back on the ground, maintaining this uncomfortable position, exhausted and panting. He had attempted several times back and forth.

With his head resting on the cement floor, he felt the rough grains rubbing against his right cheek, causing pain. He thought about turning over, but as he attempted to move his shoulder, he realized he had no strength left, not even to flip himself over.

He was too tired.

His face was now flushed with exhaustion, his breaths hot. Perhaps, after stopping his own agitation, a sense of drowsiness began to overwhelm him, urging his brain to rest sooner. His eyelids felt heavy.

But whenever he thought of Jiang Yi, he felt anxious because he had no idea if Jiang Yi had been found, or what might happen due to the secondary differentiation drug. Since the moment Jiang Yi’s life or death was uncertain, he had been anxious, but he had to remain calm. He couldn’t afford to provoke the alpha any further, or else he would end up being the one to suffer.

He hadn’t even checked his phone when it vibrated.

But such movements caught the attention of the alpha. He could feel the gaze landing on him, so, to protect himself, he had no choice but to show weakness, placing the phone on the passenger seat.

Throughout, they hadn’t exchanged a word.

This silent standoff seemed to lower the alpha’s attention, completely oblivious to the phone under his feet, the one Jiang Yi had dropped. It was only when they arrived at the village and the alpha told him to get out of the car that he was knocked unconscious.

When he woke up, he found himself bound like this, feeling a special pain all over. He couldn’t tell if it was his stomach or elsewhere that hurt. Dizzy and disoriented, he didn’t know if he had been beaten or dragged in.

Listening to the sound of the waves outside, blindfolded and unable to see, he was trapped in an inescapable fear. He took deep breaths to calm himself, constantly reminding himself not to panic.

“…He will come, Duan Yizhou will definitely find me soon… Oh… hurry up and find me, my body hurts, and I’m so hungry…” A faint sob echoed in the room, but the only response was the sound of the waves crashing.

Thinking this way, he tried to use his face to push away the cloth covering his eyes, attempting several times, each time causing intense pain as his face scraped against the cement. He decided to stop, fearing disfigurement. Then he began to try to break free from the fishing rope tied behind him.

This time, he exerted all his strength. With his hands and feet bound, he strained to reach forward, his knees lifting to touch his hands.

Several times his fingers touched the zipper of the pocket beside his knee.

This unsurprisingly gave him the motivation to continue. If he could unzip it, he could reach the phone. Although he couldn’t see, he could try pressing the phone randomly, which was at least a chance.

“…I’m not satisfied with the way the Galaxy Group handled my lover’s situation. I can’t let my lover die for no reason. Since President Yan hasn’t given me a satisfactory solution so far, I can only take away the person you care about the most. If you don’t want anything to happen to the young master, 2 billion, I only want 2 billion.”

The man’s voice outside interrupted Luo Songran’s actions. When he heard the contents, he froze, thinking it was bad. They really intended to take him and demand a huge ransom from his family. With this in mind, he reached out again to touch the zipper on his leg.

Perhaps his frequent leg movements were too abrupt, and when he lifted his knee quickly, he accidentally bumped his stomach, causing a sharp pain.

Luo Songran winced in pain and dared not move. Blindfolded and unable to see anything, he felt even more dizzy. Tears soaked the cloth covering his eyes, and he couldn’t feel anything. He leaned his head back, took deep breaths, trembling all over, cold sweat dripping from his forehead, quickly soaking his hair and temples.

Uncertain how long this state had lasted, suddenly he heard the door open, and the rusty iron door emitted a piercing sound.

The alpha walked into the room and saw the young man curled up in the corner, looking miserable. His eyes were covered by torn cloth, his face extremely red beneath it. Both arms were tied behind his back, knees and ankles bound, and his expensive white T-shirt was already filthy from the dirt on the cement floor.

He squatted down beside him, his heart unmoved but a happy smile on his face. “2 billion, I’ll take 50 million in cash, the rest in checks. Tomorrow at noon, your cousin will bring the money to exchange for you. Young master, you are truly priceless.”

Luo Songran had no strength to reply, just panting.

The alpha, looking at his pitiful appearance, felt a strong sense of pleasure. He grabbed Luo Songran’s chin, forcing him to lift his head. “But unfortunately, I don’t want money. It’s just life for life. Tomorrow at noon, this 50 million in cash will be thrown into the sea, and you will be thrown into the river.”

Ring, ring, ring—

Just then, the alpha’s phone rang. He threw Luo Songran back to the ground, stood up, took out his phone, answered the call, and left the room, “He Yu? What’s the matter?”

The alpha’s voice gradually faded away.

Thrown back to the ground, Luo Songran knocked his forehead, tears streaming down again. He bit his lip, enduring the pain, and almost squeezed out his words from between his lips: “…Madman, what’s the point of throwing away 50 million? You’re insane…”

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Why should 20 billion be given to such a lunatic?

Perhaps driven by this anger, he tried again to reach the pocket on his knee. With all his strength, he simultaneously stretched his hand forward and raised his knee, and this time he managed to touch the zipper!

He was excited immediately. He moved his body left and right to make the phone in the pocket fall out. With each movement, the phone slid out of the pocket, and he quickly used his leg to push it back. The moment he got hold of the phone, he felt alive again.

But he didn’t rejoice too soon. First, he listened to the sounds outside the door, determining his current position, because the phone must not be found. It was his only means of self-rescue now.

After confirming his position, he adjusted his body and firmly held the phone in his hand, feeling for the buttons on the side and pressing the emergency call button.

He didn’t know if the emergency call was made, but he had no other choice. He had to say the crucial information first: “I should be by the seaside, near a village. The route is from the river road over there. I’m blindfolded and tied up, and I’m in a lot of pain.”

He repeated this twice, then pressed the power button and restarted the process.

This time, he chose to dial the emergency contact number 1. Although he wasn’t sure if Jiang Yi had set an emergency contact number 1, it was better to have one more person who might know.

Following his instinctive steps, his bound hands accurately lit up the screen again. He measured the distance from the unlocked screen to the keyboard from top to bottom with his fingers and pressed the number 1 button accurately.

After pressing and holding the number 1 button, the screen lit up with the word ‘Boyfriend.’ The call was almost instantly connected.

Luo Songran had no idea if he had dialed successfully. He repeated the same information as before, his location, his mental and physical condition. Perhaps his mental state was already very poor. Before he could finish speaking, he felt it difficult to breathe and gasped continuously.

“And…help me find Duan Yizhou, his number is…please help me, call him, please…”

With his back to the phone, he repeated the number, pleading for help. Almost exhausted, not knowing if what he said was futile, but it was his last straw. When he couldn’t hold on any longer, he closed his heavy eyelids, his eyelashes trembling, his shoulders drooping, and his forehead touching the ground, losing consciousness completely.

“RanRan!!!”  The panicked voice on the other end of the phone was none other than his beloved Duan Yizhou.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t hear it anymore.

Immediately after, the roar of a helicopter echoed over the pier area, search boats were stationed on the sea, and the sound of police cars filled the sky.

With a bang, the iron door was kicked open.

“RanRan!” Duan Yizhou walked into the room and saw his cherished person, bound and dirty, curled up in the dusty corner.

He took a deep breath, restraining his nearly uncontrollable emotions as he walked quickly over. Just as he approached to lift Luo Songran up, he found the young man had already passed out. His cheeks, wrists, and ankles bound with obvious abrasions, some even bleeding. Any exposed skin showed various scratches, and he could feel the intense heat radiating from him.

At that moment, he felt the urge to kill someone.

Despite his anger, he first removed the torn cloth covering Luo Songran’s eyes, feeling the dampness of the cloth and seeing the moist traces of tears around his eyes, which broke his heart. He then broke the ropes binding his hands and feet before gently cradling Luo Songran in his arms. Seeing the injuries all over his body and feeling his burning temperature completely shattered his resolve.

Underneath the golden-framed glasses, Duan Yizhou’s eyes were as deep as if frosted, his thin lips pressed together, and his jaw tightened from clenching his teeth, emanating a chilling atmosphere.

“How is it? Have you found RanRan?”

At that moment, Yan Nanchen rushed in anxiously, only to see his cousin being held by Duan Yizhou. The sight of his cousin in such a sorry state froze him in place.

“Yan Nanchen.”

Meeting Duan Yizhou’s cold gaze, Yan Nanchen felt the oppressive aura of an older alpha, causing his heart to tighten.

Duan Yizhou looked at Yan Nanchen expressionlessly. “You have to give me an explanation for this.”

With that, he walked past Yan Nanchen while holding Luo Songran.

Yan Nanchen’s hand, hanging by his side, suddenly clenched into a fist, his handsome face tinged with coldness. He wouldn’t let anyone go who had hurt his cousin, the culprit behind Jiang Yi’s second accidental differentiation, or any misstep in the process of losing the second drug, none of it would be let go.
