1 “His expression practically looks like the spring sun. Tsk tsk, I wonder what happened last night.” Chen QiaoYu nodded towards Le Fan, who had walked past the door.

“Hey, you have to watch your image.” Gu Xiang couldn’t stand it anymore.

“You’re clearly deprived, you should find a man for yourself soon,” Zheng Fei said carelessly, resulting in a copy of a criminal law handbook being thrown at him.

“Nice throw! Throw another one!” Lin Bai exclaimed, fanning the flames.

Guan Jin rolled his eyes. After being with these crazy colleagues for so long, he was practically becoming abnormal himself.

Soon afterwards, Le Fan walked in. “Here, the reports you guys wanted earlier.”

“FanFan, you seem to be in a good mood today. You should share the good news~” Ding Ding immediately tried to get information out of him.

Le Fan glanced at her. “If you’re this free, come and help out with forensics. I heard Old Wang and the others say that they got a fresh body today, so it’s worth examining.”

Ding Ding silently shrank back.

“Le Fan, you seem to have put on some weight recently,” Gu Xiang said observantly.

Le Fan was taken aback, and his eyes flashed. “My appetite has been good recently, so I’ve been eating a lot.”

When there weren’t any major cases, the team was like a brick, moved to wherever they were needed. In the afternoon, Guan Jin went to the precinct, and the matters were resolved very quickly and smoothly, so he voluntarily “moved” himself back home.

When Guan Jin opened the door, he suddenly heard a voice say, “How come you’re home so early today?”

Lu YunYang poked his head out of the kitchen, looking at him in surprise.

Guan Jin was also very surprised, but he retorted impassively, “I should be asking you that.”

“The restaurant in my brother’s name received a very fresh batch of seafood and he sent me some, so I’m planning to prepare a big dinner for tonight. You can do your own thing for a while, this will take me some time.” Lu YunYang had already gone back into the kitchen.

Guan Jin changed his clothes and walked around the living room. As he heard the noise coming from the kitchen, he felt like he shouldn’t just sit and wait to be fed, so he walked to the doorway. “I’ll help you?”

“No need.”

“Why don’t I make the staple food?”

“Oh? What would you make?” Lu YunYang looked at him in interest.

“My signature bolognese spaghetti,” Guan Jin said proudly.

“Today, seafood will be the spotlight, and spaghetti doesn’t really match. I’ll take care of it, you’re just responsible for eating.” Lu YunYang continued busying himself with meal preparation.

Guan Jin stood there for a bit before getting bored and leaving. It’s not like he really wanted to help anyway, hmph.

After finishing the feast, Guan Jin said in satisfaction, “Not bad, you’ll get a big reward for this.”

Lu YunYang leaned closer and lowered his voice. “What reward?”

Guan Jin glanced at him. “Tomorrow, I’ll make spaghetti for you.”

“Compared to that, I’d rather have a feast for my eyes——this.” Lu YunYang suddenly kissed Guan Jin deeply.

“Hey!” Guan Jin pushed him away. “I’m still chewing the crab.”

“I made it anyway, so I don’t mind.”

“I mind! Hey, what are you doing?! Sham of a psychic, I’m warning you, mm——”

*****

The next day, Guan Jin came home slightly earlier, about to make his signature noodles. Unexpectedly, Lu YunYang was already home and busy.

“How come you have so much free time lately?”

“I’m only teaching an elective this semester and I already published my paper. Besides, the most important thing is feeding you.”

“Are you saying that I’m like a pig that you’re raising?!”

“That would be nice. You’re too skinny right now, you need to eat more.”

Guan Jin looked down at his suspiciously growing belly and seriously suspected whether this person was purposely trying to turn him into a pig for slaughter.

*****

“This is rare, why are you exercising here instead of going home to eat?” Le Fan couldn’t help but tease when he saw Guan Jin in the police station’s gym.

“Don’t be the pot calling the kettle black.”

“Ahem, don’t be so harsh.”

Guan Jin ran on the treadmill as he asked, “What are you doing here?”

“I’m exercising before it’s too late.” Le Fan grimaced.

“Why are you getting fat?”

“Food, do you even need to ask? That damned Jin MaiLong makes dishes everyday as if he’s feeding a pig. It must be on purpose!”

Guan Jin stumbled, and he nearly fell off of the treadmill.

*****

“Here, here, these are my freshest bayberries, they’re a rare specimen, so you can’t find them anywhere else on the market.” Jin MaiLong had brought a large basket of Chinese bayberries to the Special Cases Unit’s office.

“Say, Mr. Jin, with that posture, could it be that Le Fan is expecting?” Wen JingHan picked up a bayberry. “Next time, are you going to be passing out red eggs 2?”

“Of course not…” Jin MaiLong was grinning like a fool, forgetting to even deny it.

“Hey, you aren’t actually expecting, are you?” Guan Jin and Le Fan happened to walk to the door and witnessed this historic moment.

“Says you! That idiot, didn’t I just make him one meal?” Le Fan rolled his eyes.

“He’s quite easy to please.”

“Yeah, mentally handicapped children find fun in anything. However,” Le Fan sighed, “if two people are going to spend their days together, it can’t always be just one person making an effort. He’s really busy, yet he still insists on coming home to prepare meals. I felt that I should share the burden a little, but before, I could only make egg fried rice, and I reckon he’s gotten really sick of it by now. I learned some new dishes recently, so I made a meal on the weekend, and he ate as if he’d been starved for several years. He was practically crying in happiness.” When Le Fan recalled this, he became angry. “Dammit, he’s acting like I’ve been abusing him in the past. So what if it’s egg fried rice, I should only make him egg fried rice from now on!”

Exactly what are you trying to express? How come it’s so hard to understand…

That day, as he got off work, Guan Jin suddenly realized something: recently, Lu YunYang had kept stopping him from making food; could it be that he had gotten sick of eating bolognese spaghetti… Dammit! How ungrateful! How dare he look down on my culinary expertise?! I’d rather die than be humiliated…

Thus, after a week of Lu YunYang noticing Guan Jin sneaking around, the answer finally revealed itself.

“Did… you make this?” Lu YunYang pointed at the four dishes and soup on the table in disbelief.

“What? Is making food very hard?” Guan Jin crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow.

“I’m just too pleasantly surprised. Thank you, Little Jin.” Lu YunYang kissed him fervently.

After finally sitting down properly, Lu YunYang ate very cheerfully. Guan Jin had never seen him eat this much, and he began to feel unhappy.

“Is it good?”

“It’s delicious.”

“Is it better than my spaghetti?”

“Of course.”

Good, very good. In the future, I won’t even make spaghetti anymore, this will be your last meal.

As poor Lu YunYang was still immersed in the happiness of his lover working hard to learn how to cook for him, Guan Jin was already sealing his fate.

Reality tells us that lovers must communicate openly. According to hearsay, the consequences of subjective assumptions are very severe.

Hahaha… Lu YunYang’s fate is sealed already, but eating the same dish every time can be too much. That’s why it’s important to communicate proparely, I totally agree with the author.

Thank you for the chapter!!!
