When Lu YunYang and Guan Jin walked into the office together, they once again became the center of attention.

“I heard you were also sick? You don’t look too well.” Ding Ding looked at Lu YunYang worriedly. “We don’t have any major cases anyway, so you should go home and rest.”

“It’s nothing, but thanks for your concern. It’s better if I get some fresh air.”

“Ah, handsome professor, I haven’t seen you in a few months, and I even thought that our special counseling benefits had ended. I’m so happy to see you again~” Chen QiaoYu didn’t even try to hide her fangirling.

Lu YunYang hastily responded to everyone’s concern, and Guan Jin humphed before going to sit at his desk by himself.

A few seconds later, Lu YunYang had already dismissed everyone and instantly sat down next to Guan Jin. “Little Jin, is there anything I can help with?”

“No need, you’re still not fully recovered, and how can I dare to make you, professor, toil?”

Everyone looked down to look busy, but they were all secretly listening in.

“It’s not like it’s physical labor, and I can still use my brain.”

“Isn’t your brain also broken?”

“…It’s still usable.”

Guan Jin glanced at the pile of files next to him and smiled. “Alright, your brain would rust if you don’t use it. I’m classifying these files according to crime types right now, and since you asked for it, then I’ll leave it to you. I still need to take care of more important things.”

“Okay!” Lu YunYang happily slid the mountain of files towards himself, as if it was a pile of gold instead of paper.

With one person emanating a cold aura of negative forty degrees and the other person so gentle that there were practically pink bubbles surrounding him, everyone else in the office wondered what was going on. However, since Guan Jin’s aura was a little scary today, no one dared to inquire about it, and they could only quell their gossipy side.

Suddenly, Le Fan walked up to Zheng Fei and dropped a stack of files on his desk. “The autopsy reports you asked for.”

Autopsy reports?! Zheng Fei looked at them closely. “Le Fan, aren’t you a forensic scientist? When did you become a coroner?”

“Why can’t I? Lately, I’ve been very interested in anatomy and dissections, so I learned a little from that department.” Le Fan smiled strangely.

Zheng Fei shrunk back. “Stop smiling, you look like a twisted murderer or something when you smile.”

“Is that so? I indeed really want to kill people lately, let me go slice some more things open to quench this desire.” Le Fan walked away slowly, leaving the people in the office horrified.

“What happened to him?” Guan Jin asked perplexedly.

Chen QiaoYu shook her head. “Ah, you’re too out of the loop, this isn’t good.”

“Le Fan’s family life hasn’t been harmonious, and his temper hasn’t been the best lately. You understand, right?” Ding Ding said ambiguously.

Why would I understand? Guan Jin was just about to ask this when he spotted Lu YunYang staring at him through the doorway.

“Your lung doesn’t hurt anymore?” Guan Jin asked in a low voice.

“Huh?”

“Why don’t I shoot you again?”

Lu YunYang immediately looked back down at the files and concentrated on working hard.

Hmph, at least you’re tactful.

*****

In the cafeteria during lunch, Guan Jin sat next to Le Fan and saw him stabbing the braised pork on his plate.

“What? Your sex life hasn’t been going well lately?”

Le Fan nearly choked on the piece of braised pork he had been eating. “What are you talking about?!”

“It’s just what I heard.” Guan Jin didn’t feel guilty at all. “Although they said it very tactfully, isn’t this what they mean? We’re both men, there’s no need to hide anything.”

“…You’re a little too blunt. It’s not what you think.”

“That guy really succeeded in pursuing you, huh? Didn’t you disdain him before?”

Le Fan sighed helplessly. “Women with strong personalities are scared of persistent men. It’s the same with men with strong personalities.”

As he silently thought back to that Jin MaiLong who had practically crazily pursued Le Fan, Guan Jin couldn’t help but conclude, “These men all pretend to be dumb on the surface, but in reality, there’s nothing good about them, and they understand things all too well.”

“Exactly! It’s all a front!” Le Fan slapped the table.

The women sitting nearby eagerly inclined their ears: the two shous are denouncing bad men together… Can’t you two speak louder?!

*****

After work, Guan Jin saw Jin MaiLong, whom he hadn’t seen for a long time. He was still wearing flashy clothes, though he had switched to a car with a duller color. He was like a dog waiting for its owner to return and was gazing expectantly at the door.

“Oh, are you waiting for Le Fan?”

When Jin MaiLong saw Le Fan’s coworker, he quickly rushed over. “Officer Guan, long time no see, have you been well? Is Little Fan inside? Is he working overtime today?”

“Can’t you call him?” Guan Jin felt that Jin MaiLong was pretty dumb on all aspects.

“…He won’t answer my calls.” The loyal dog wilted.

“Then you can just wait here, it’s not like I can do anything,” gloated Guan Jin. He continued, “You’ve made your bed, now lie in it. This is a lesson.” Guan Jin glanced at a certain person who was keeping silent and following him.

The certain person obediently opened the car door for Guan Jin. “Do you want to eat at home or at a restaurant?”

“I heard that a new seafood restaurant just opened on Seaside Road, and they have Himalayan lobster.”

“Uh, I don’t think there are lobsters in the Himalayas.”

Guan Jin slowly turned to look at his chauffeur impassively.

“Okay, let’s go eat Himalayan lobster!” The chauffeur stepped on the gas and headed straight to the seafood restaurant.

“Wen JingHan said that he was going on a business trip for a few days and asked me to help him take care of his cat,” Guan Jin said to Lu YunYang, who came to his house at a set time everyday now.

“No problem, I can handle it. If you’re worried his cat will fight with A-Gua, I can take care of her at my house,” volunteered Lu YunYang.

“Isn’t your lung still not completely recovered? You shouldn’t be around things with so much fur.”

Lu YunYang grinned. “It’s okay, it’s just a few days, and it’s not even shedding season.”

Thus, the noble Tucker the Sixteenth, A-Dai, walked into Guan Jin’s small apartment disdainfully.

Sure enough, he is a commoner, his place is even more crude than that despicable person.

A-Dai jumped onto the sofa and laid on it. A-Gua looked up at her in curiosity.

A-Dai was no longer calm… It had only been a few months, yet this dumb dog had already grown so much, ahhh, this didn’t make any sense!

A-Gua quietly ran to the sofa and sniffed around A-Dai: It’s that cat! Let’s play together, okay?

A-Dai recoiled. Big dog, don’t come any closer!

A-Gua also climbed onto the sofa and forced the cat into the corner. Let’s play.

Help!!!

“Look at how well they get along together, I didn’t expect a cat and dog would be this close,” exclaimed Lu YunYang. Clearly, this professor who analyzed people still had a limited knowledge regarding animals.

“Wen JingHan said that this cat is the Duke’s, and her lineage is very pure or something. Look, she can’t even run and she’s so fat. She doesn’t have fatty liver, does she?” Guan Jin inspected A-Dai.

You’re the one with fatty liver! Ignorant commoner! A-Dai meowed as she climbed onto A-Gua’s back.

“Oh, the Duke’s cat…” Lu YunYang smiled. “Why don’t we help her lose some weight?”

Guan Jin glanced at him and understood. He sure was a bastard, and he didn’t even let a cat off easily. However, bullying the Duke’s cat sounded quite enjoyable.

*****

After poor A-Dai stayed at Guan Jin’s apartment for two days and three nights, when Wen JingHan came to pick her up, she was lying on the sofa, her legs twitching.

“Why does she look so listless?” Wen JingHan picked her up.

Wahh, in the end, this person is still the best.

“No reason, she just had a lot of fun playing with A-Gua, and she’ll be back to normal in no time,” said Guan Jin.

No one played with me! They made that dumb dog chase me around, and I was only allowed two meals per day! This was unreasonable and brutal abuse!!! A-Dai felt like crying as she laid in Wen JingHan’s arms.

“It’ll be better if she exercised more, she can’t even jump onto a cabinet,” advised Guan Jin.

“It does look like she got a little skinnier. That makes sense, I’ll buy her a cat tree and supervise her daily exercises!” Wen JingHan agreed eagerly.

…Commoners are all bad guys. Master, where are you, you must come and save me… A-Dai practically rolled her eyes.

“Did JingHan leave?” Lu YunYang walked out of the kitchen.

“What are you hiding for, do you owe him a lot of money?”

“You know how he is. If he saw me, he would start getting ideas and blabbering, which would only bring you trouble,” Lu YunYang said tactfully.

“Then what are you still here for? Don’t you need to go to your checkup?” said Guan Jin as he put on a jacket.

“Yes. Are you… going out?”

“I’m going with you.”

Lu YunYang’s mouth widened in surprise. “You’re coming with me?”

“I’m going to see if your lung is really as weak as you say it is, in case you’re just acting pitiful.” Guan Jin glanced at him.

“Okay~”
