More and more important figures appeared on the Red Spider Planet, even the president. A major battle was imminent, and all the soldiers of the Eagle Special Forces would soon return to the capital star with General Lu Tingyu to clean up the remnants of the Dark Night Organization.
Mohr did not join them in their action; he decided to stay behind to take care of Lu Cheng’an.
Although there was the Spider Queen’s care, leaving the mutant here wouldn’t pose any danger. However, Mohr still couldn’t rest easy; he couldn’t bear to leave Lu Cheng’an alone. After General Lu left, the bustling Red Spider Planet suddenly became quiet.
Mohr still went to feed the mutant every day. After spending this time together, the mutant’s attitude towards Mohr had noticeably improved. Whenever he saw Mohr, although his eyes were as black as ink and devoid of emotion, Mohr could sense that it seemed somewhat happy.
On this day, Mohr came to the cave as usual to bring food. When the mutant saw Mohr, it immediately shook its head and opened its mouth obediently. Mohr fed him the peeled fruit, watching him chew it with relish, feeling incredibly complicated.
Today was Lu Cheng’an’s birthday. His face was still as handsome as it was in memory, but unfortunately, he couldn’t speak, nor could he give Mohr any response. Mohr closed his eyes, suppressing the bitterness in his heart, and softly said, “Cheng’an, happy birthday.”
The mutant’s movement suddenly paused, looking up at Mohr.
Mohr reached out and gently touched his cheek, saying, “Actually, I prepared a birthday gift for you a long time ago, but unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to give it to you. That gift, along with your photo, was locked away by me. When you regain consciousness in the future, on your next birthday, I’ll give it to you, alright?”
The mutant didn’t seem to understand, staring blankly at Mohr.
Mohr sighed softly, speaking to himself, “Next year on your birthday, I still want to eat the cake you make.”
In the quiet night, only his voice echoed in the cave. Knowing that the other party wouldn’t respond to him, Mohr still persistently talked to the mutant every day. Even the Spider Queen didn’t understand his actions, asking him, “You talk to that strange guy every day, but he never responds to you. Why do you still insist?”
Mohr replied, “Whether he responds to me or not doesn’t matter. I just want to talk to him.”
The Spider Queen sighed helplessly, “The human psyche is indeed very complex, with many thoughts I can’t understand.”
Mohr smiled and said, “I don’t know why I like him so much, why I can’t let go of him.”
They haven’t marked each other, nor have they bonded spiritually; the closest thing between them was just a kiss. Lu Cheng’an had been “dead” for so many years; if it were an ordinary person, they might have let go long ago.
But Mohr just couldn’t let go.
Lu Cheng’an had become his demon and obsession.
***
Days on the Red Spider Planet passed slowly, as if cut off from the rest of the world. Mohr wasn’t sure if General Lu and the others would succeed in their mission. If they failed, he might never be able to return to the capital star in his lifetime, and Lu Cheng’an might never wake up.
As time passed day by day, Mohr grew increasingly anxious. The day and night cycle here wasn’t on a 24-hour clock, but Mohr kept track of time every day in the cave. He could wait; he had already waited for six years, a few more months wouldn’t make a difference.
One day, President Harrison, General Lu Tingyu, along with Lu Zexuan and Yu Ran, walked together to the front of the cave. They looked and saw Mohr, wearing glasses, looking gentle as he fed the mutant, as if coaxing a child. Surprisingly, the mutant obediently opened its mouth and ate the fruit Mohr offered.
This scene left them all exchanging glances.
Lu Zexuan’s eyes reddened, whispering, “Mohr has been taking care of my brother. Even though my brother has mutated, he still stands by his side…”
Yu Ran knew Lu Zexuan was feeling uneasy, so he gently held his hand and conveyed through their minds, “Stop blaming yourself. We’ve already found out the truth about what happened back then. Your brother is still alive, and we’ll do everything we can to help him regain consciousness.”
Lu Zexuan closed his eyes, suppressing the bitterness in his heart, and called out softly, “Mohr.”
Sensing the sound behind him, Mohr turned around and, upon seeing them, immediately walked up excitedly, asking, “You’re finally here! Is there still hope for Cheng’an?”
Yu Ran nodded, and together with President Harrison, they extended their mental tendrils. The combined efforts of the two most powerful S+ healing guides in the Federation were Lu Cheng’an’s only hope. As the collapsed sentinel’s mental landscape was slowly repaired and reconstructed, the mutant’s mental world had suffered severe damage, with memories shattered long ago.
Perhaps, buried deep in his subconscious, there were some things that the person closest to him could try to awaken?
All eyes turned to Mohr. Mohr nervously stepped forward, connecting to Lu Cheng’an’s brain with his whitemental tendrils. A cute little deer appeared on the barren plain. Suddenly, the mutant’s mental world began to fluctuate violently.
A deer… where had he seen it before? The gentle and adorable deer, the tent on the mountaintop, the warm string lights, the birthday cake… And the pendant he had given away? Who was that person? Why did thinking of him cause such heartache?
Some fragmented memories began to rapidly piece together in Lu Cheng’an’s mind. The deep pain in his mind, like a knife cutting through, made Lu Cheng’an furrow his brow in agony and start to struggle frantically. His body was bound by specially made chains, emitting a harsh metallic clanking sound as he struggled.
Lu Zexuan hurried forward, trying to restrain his brother.
Mohr’s voice trembled slightly as he called out in the mental world, “Lu Cheng’an, it’s Mohr. Do you remember me?”
It’s Mohr… A clear voice echoed deep in his mind, and Lu Cheng’an suddenly stopped struggling. He opened his eyes, staring blankly at the person in front of him. The familiar face gradually overlapped with the blurry figure in his mind. The deer pendant around his neck emitted a soft light in the sunlight.
The pendant he had given away seemed to unlock the memories.
Memories in Lu Cheng’an’s mind began to surge madly, memory bubbles appearing one after another. The barren land quickly became covered with tender grass shoots, and the entire wilderness seemed to come back to life!
As memories flooded in, Lu Cheng’an suddenly spoke, muttering, “Mohr…”
He hadn’t spoken in so long; the sound coming from his throat was as unpleasant as a knife scraping against a blackboard.
But this call, after six years, made Mohr’s eyes fill with tears. He choked up, unable to speak, “I’m here… I’ve always been here.”
The flood of memories made the mental world unbearable. Lu Cheng’an soon fell unconscious.
Lu Zexuan helped his brother lay down outside the cave, while Yu Ran and President Harrison continued their joint treatment. The mental landscape of an S-class sentinel was incredibly vast, and fully reconstructing it required a massive amount of mental energy. Fortunately, after Mohr awakened Lu Cheng’an’s consciousness, he cooperated with the two guides’ treatment.
Three days later, a golden eagle reappeared in the sky above the grassland. With the separation of the spirit body from its owner, Lu Cheng’an was no longer a mutant. His body and consciousness had returned!
Mohr looked at the familiar man in front of him, almost unable to believe it. He hugged Lu Cheng’an tightly, trembling and unable to speak.
Lu Zexuan’s eyes were filled with tears as he gently patted Mohr’s shoulder and said, “My brother, he’s back.”
Mohr nodded vigorously, “Yes… he’s not dead, he’s alive!”
Yu Ran gently pulled Lu Zexuan’s sleeve, urging him to leave.
In the treatment room, only Lu Cheng’an and Mohr remained. Mohr tightly held Lu Cheng’an’s left hand, tears streaming down uncontrollably. For so many years, he thought he could only see Lu Cheng’an in another world after death. He never imagined that Lu Cheng’an could actually come back to life.
It felt like a dream. Silent tears flowed for who knew how long until a hand gently touched his head.
Mohr was stunned. His eyes were blurred with tears, but he could feel that it was Lu Cheng’an’s hand. However, due to long-term torment, that hand had become pale and weak, its movements almost imperceptible. Mohr quickly wiped away his tears and looked at the person on the bed.
Lu Cheng’an’s eyes were no longer the pitch-black of the mutant, his pupils had regained focus. He gently placed his right hand on Mohr’s head, looking at Mohr with concern, his voice hoarse and dry, “Mohr, don’t cry.”
Mohr’s nose tingled as he grabbed his hand tightly, “You’re awake?”
Lu Cheng’an said, “I… I remember being surrounded by monsters. What about Zexuan? Is he okay, not injured?”
Mohr lowered his head, his voice trembling as he said, “He… he’s fine, not injured.”
Lu Cheng’an’s memory still lingered on the moment years ago when he rushed into the beast herd to save his brother. During these years, he had no consciousness, so naturally, his memory was blank. Thinking about how Lu Cheng’an, such a proud person, had become a mutant and been locked away as a monster for a whole six years… Mohr’s heart felt like it was being torn apart, and he dared not look into his eyes.
Hearing this, Lu Cheng’an seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and said, “That’s good. By the way, how long have I been unconscious?”
Mohr lowered his head, unable to bear to say it out loud.
Lu Cheng’an looked puzzled, “Has it been a long time?”
Mohr whispered, “N-not that long. Don’t worry about it for now. Focus on getting better. The doctor said your body is a bit weak and malnourished, so you need to rest well for a while. Don’t worry, I’ll be here with you.”
Lu Cheng’an smiled faintly, his right hand moving from Mohr’s head to gently grasp Mohr’s hand, “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
He was too exhausted, his mental world extremely fatigued. Just waking up for a moment, he fell unconscious again.
As Mohr was leaving, Yu Ran approached him, “Has he woken up?”
Mohr nodded, “Yes. But his memory is still stuck six years ago. I don’t know how to tell him.”
Lu Zexuan gently clenched his fist and said softly, “His consciousness has just recovered, and his mental landscape is still unstable. Let’s not disturb him… I’ll tell him myself when his body fully recovers.”

Telling him is going to be awful; for everyone.
Thank you both for the chapter.
