Chapter 101: The Most Indecisive Position in History

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Sentinel and guide sat across from each other at the “same” table, separated by an entire building.

Exquisite porcelain, delicate dishes, handsome partners — Yin Bo looked at the silent diner, Kazumi Koyama, feeling a strange sense of deja vu, as if they were on a blind date.

Well, it wasn’t exactly deja vu, it was a fact; they were indeed on a blind date, not only that but also soon to be marked and have children… Ahem! Overthinking. That was Haynes’s plan, not his. He was an NTU agent, and even in the presence of a highly compatible guide, he should maintain rationality.

But it did sound appealing.

Kazumi Koyama was a man of few words. After the customary “Nice to meet you,” he fell silent, quietly dining with graceful elegance. Yin Bo, being of English descent, was not proficient with chopsticks, those devilish utensils. As he slowly adapted, he observed Kazumi Koyama from the corner of his eye.

Although they had signed a contract, Yin Bo had not decided whether to bond with Kazumi Koyama. On one hand, he feared violating federal law; on the other, he was worried about his military secrets being probed by the other party. For a marked guide, a sentinel’s mind was almost transparent, making it hard to keep any secrets.

Of course, he could use submissive compulsion to keep the other silent, to prevent them from doing anything against his will, but that required him to be strong enough to completely suppress the other. But Kazumi Koyama was a free guide; he didn’t know if he could achieve that.

In such a situation, any decision felt like a gamble.

Silence hung in the air, slightly awkward. As a professional bait, Yin Bo was skilled at chatting and enticing, but facing Kazumi Koyama at this moment, he felt oddly stifled. There seemed to be a natural pressure emanating from him, even through the holographic network, making it impossible to dismiss him lightly.

Contemplating how to break the silence, Yin Bo suddenly heard Kazumi Koyama speak, “They say you’re a white-collar worker?”

“Uh, sort of,” Yin Bo replied, “I’m an assistant to a gym owner.”

“Weird.” He lowered his eyes, delicately picking up a slice of sashimi with slender bamboo chopsticks, and remarked casually, “You’re clearly so strong.”

Yin Bo paused. As an NTU agent, he was adept at concealing his aura, but he could only deceive a sentinel, not a guide. In the mere ten-minute journey from the entrance to the research institute, Kazumi Koyama had already probed into his consciousness cloud and sensed his strength.

So why did Kazumi Koyama choose him? And what did he imply by saying this now?

“It’s just my personality,” Yin Bo replied calmly, “I’m rather lazy by nature, not fond of intense work, so I chose a clerical job. They all think I’ve wasted my genes, but I’m a strong sentinel.”

Kazumi Koyama gazed into his eyes, slowly revealing a meaningful, faint smile, shaking his head, whether indicating he was lying or expressing regret, Yin Bo couldn’t tell.

“What about you?” Yin Bo asked, “They say you volunteered for this experiment. Are you a scientist? Or is it for the money?”

“Volunteered?” Kazumi Koyama chuckled briefly, as if finding something amusing, “Well, let’s say I volunteered.” Wiping his mouth with a napkin, he suddenly asked, “Do you like gambling?”

“Gambling?” Yin Bo raised an eyebrow. Coincidentally, he had just been thinking about gambling. Looking into Kazumi Koyama’s dark eyes, he suddenly felt a vague sense of finding a “kindred spirit.” After a moment of thought, he replied, “I’m okay with it. I’ll play a few rounds when necessary.”

He said “when necessary,” not “in my leisure time.” Kazumi Koyama’s pupils contracted, seeming to understand, nodding. Yin Bo paused and asked him, “What about you? Do you like gambling?”

“No, I never gamble.” Kazumi Koyama denied decisively, “I had a whim to gamble once, lost terribly.”

Yin Bo felt a stir in his heart, sensing he was implying something. Kazumi Koyama lowered his eyelids, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes. With a self-deprecating smile, he said, “Now I’ve decided to gamble again, to bet on something bigger.”

His eyes were dark and bright, shining with a resolute, do-or-die determination. Yin Bo met his gaze. Although there was no resonance, no collision of consciousness clouds, he understood his meaning.

Kazumi Koyama was telling him he wasn’t here voluntarily. He stayed because he “lost the bet.” As for how he gambled and lost, Yin Bo had no idea, but he roughly understood that right now, like himself, Kazumi Koyama had no freedom.

As for his mention of “betting bigger,” it should refer to marking each other. They barely knew each other, having met only twice, and couldn’t have an open conversation due to Haynes’s surveillance. Under such circumstances, establishing a bond was definitely a gamble.

So what did Kazumi Koyama want to gain from this gamble? Yin Bo pondered silently. A powerful sentinel? A gun? What made him think Yin Bo would listen to him? Wasn’t he afraid of submission? Or was he extremely confident in his consciousness? Hmm, for him, it truly was a high-stakes gamble…

“Wish you good luck.” Yin Bo put down his chopsticks, raised his cup of sake in a toast, giving Kazumi Koyama a meaningful smile. “Hope you win your bet.”

Kazumi Koyama hesitated for a moment, assessing him, then raised his glass to clink with Yin Bo’s, saying, “Thank you, let’s hope so.”

After finishing the meal amidst a cloud of mystery, Yin Bo was led to a dormitory in the underground basement. The dormitory wasn’t luxurious, but it was very comfortable, with a king-size bed and a spacious bathtub in the bathroom, obviously designed for two people. There was even a peculiar-shaped retro sofa in one corner of the bedroom. After lying on it for a while, Yin Bo confirmed that it was a piece of furniture for enhancing intimacy, capable of facilitating over ten different positions for embryo creation.

Hmm, truly a fully equipped “office”! Yin Bo chuckled at the thought, then undressed and went to take a bath. He had carefully observed that the dormitory had minimal surveillance except for the bathroom, where there was a blind spot in one corner of the bathtub.

The massage bathtub was very comfortable. Yin Bo lay in the tub and, in the blind spot, opened his personal terminal to run a program written by Jin Xuan to search for signals. He was sure that Jin Xuan had already infiltrated the network here during their previous call and had probably been waiting for him for half a day now.

Sure enough, a few minutes later, the search program responded, indicating that the kitchen system had sent a command, asking to confirm tomorrow’s menu.

Opening the communication, it was Jin Xuan, of course—only when the kitchen system went haywire would it double-check the menu with him.

“How are you?” Jin Xuan asked. “Have you encountered any danger?”

“Not yet,” Yin Bo replied. “Just finished dinner with Kazumi Koyama. Do you have any information on him?”

“I do.” Jin Xuan told him Kazumi Koyama’s resume and the information he had gathered from Mu. “He seems to have been tricked by Lancer and now regrets it. He’s looking for you to escape—he’s a guide, too weak, impossible to escape without a sentinel.”

This conclusion coincided with their previous discussion about “gambling.” Yin Bo quickly scanned the information and said, “You’re right. That’s what I thought too. He wants to bond with me, control me through empathic resonance, and find a way to escape… So what’s our next plan?”

“Inside and outside cooperation, thoroughly raid Tartaros.” Jin Xuan said, “Lancer has established a highly classified base on such a remote planet, it must be hiding many illegal secrets. You’re now at the core of the X-X area, you need to find a way to infiltrate their control center and collect evidence. I’ve informed Qian Hua and Chang Gong, they’re on their way, and Yan Shi is ready for backup. We must protect the evidence before the main force arrives, otherwise, if they destroy everything, we’ll be in trouble during the final judgment.”

“Understood.” Yin Bo said, “But it’s probably difficult for me alone. I want to apply for exemption, I want to bond with that guide.”

Jin Xuan was silent for a moment and then said, “Exemption is not a problem, your situation should meet the exemption criteria. But are you sure you want to bond with him? He’s a strong guide, once bonded, your mind will be completely open to him. If you can’t control him through submission, all of us, all our plans, will be at risk of exposure.”

“To be honest, I’m not completely confident.” Yin Bo said frankly, “He’s older than me and has a strong consciousness. If it’s only through submission, I think it’s difficult to say who can control whom. But once bonded, our lives will be tied together. He won’t do anything detrimental to me. And according to the information you’ve found, his current goals align somewhat with ours. I think I can convince him to keep our secrets, help me collect and protect evidence. He must be more familiar with the entire X-X area than I am.”

Jin Xuan nodded silently. Yin Bo continued, “And he’s a guide. I’ve been a special agent for so long and have never encountered such a good benefit. Boss, just let me do it. I’m willing to give you all my savings!”

Jin Xuan couldn’t help but laugh, “Who knows who’ll be on top, you, or… this man.”

“A man is still a man, I’m a sentinel, I’m the dominant one!” Yin Bo declared, then paused, his momentum weakening slightly. “Well, for the guide, I’m willing to become a 0.5.” 1

“You guys figure it out yourselves, the organization doesn’t care about positions. As for your savings, you better keep them as your dowry.” Jin Xuan said, “Anyway, take good care of your body. You know, a big battle is imminent, and I don’t want to be looking for a proctologist on the battlefield for you!”

“Little Gun, you’re so considerate!” Yin Bo said sarcastically, “Though I haven’t had actual combat experience, my theoretical knowledge is extensive. I’ll take care of my guide well, no need for a proctologist!”

“You’re just boasting. Wait till your belly gets big, then we’ll see if you can still boast… Alright, that’s it.” Jin Xuan didn’t have time to argue with him, “Qian Hua and Chang Gong will take some time to get here. I’ve contacted the quartermaster to help you out. Our passes are about to expire, I need to figure out a way to extend them. You need to settle things with Kazumi Koyama as soon as possible these days, get used to each other. The next plan relies on you two.”

“Understood.”

Over the next two days, Yin Bo didn’t see Kazumi Koyama again, but Haynes came to see him twice, conducting a thorough physical examination and further verifying his identity. Fortunately, every NTU agent had a perfect fake identity, so they didn’t find anything suspicious.

On the third morning, Haynes came to his dormitory again and handed him a small thermos box, saying, “These are experimental drugs. I’ve already prepared them for you. One injection a day, one syringe per time, intravenous injection only.”

Yin Bo opened the thermos box to find a row of seven syringes, each containing a semi-transparent cloudy liquid, presumably the rumored embryo disruptor. He picked up one syringe, aimed it at his own jugular vein, swallowed spit, and asked, “Are you sure this won’t harm me?”

Haynes shook his head, “It won’t have a major impact on you personally. Trust me, kid, we’re more nervous than you. Mr. Kazumi Koyama is a precious guide. You’re going to bond with him. Frankly speaking, even if we don’t care about your life, we won’t joke with a guide’s life.”

“Um, I see.” Yin Bo knew that bonding with Kazumi Koyama was inevitable at this point, so he had to inject the disruptor into his own veins. A burning sensation spread across his neck, down his spine, soon reaching his pelvis, and his whole pelvis began to ache, his head started to spin.

“How are you feeling? Any sensations?” Haynes helped him to the sofa chair, sitting beside him, asking with concern.

Yin Bo recounted his feelings one by one and asked, “Will it be like this every time? How long will this feeling last? To be honest, if my stomach keeps hurting like this, I might not be able to establish the bond, it feels like menstrual cramps.”

“The situation should improve with multiple injections.” Haynes earnestly recorded his words, saying, “Don’t worry, this state won’t last until tonight. We’re injecting you twelve hours in advance to avoid affecting tonight’s proceedings… Oh, by the way, haven’t they told you yet? Mr. Xiao Shan is ready, tonight, you’re going to bond with him.”

“Oh.” Yin Bo’s face showed a mixture of nervousness and anticipation. “Tonight… so soon.”

“Haha, I understand how you feel.” Haynes chuckled and patted his head, saying, “It’s like dreaming, right? Happiness comes too fast, I get it, haha!”

“Yeah, too fast.” Yin Bo sighed, actually, it could be a bit faster!

Twelve hours later, most of the side effects of the drug had disappeared, except for a slight headache, Yin Bo didn’t feel any other discomfort.

Dinner was a light nutritious meal, obviously to prevent his stomach from bearing too much burden. Yin Bo obediently accepted it, after dinner, he carefully took a bath, cleaned his teeth, tidied his hair, and couldn’t help but feel excited. After years of being a professional bait, he finally put his skills to good use. He was truly throwing himself out there this time.

Feeling a bit excited just thinking about it.

There were three knocks on the door, followed by three more. Yin Bo, wearing a bathrobe, went to open the door, and outside stood Kazumi Koyama.

This was their first close encounter in the real world. Under the soft corridor lights, Yin Bo saw that Kazumi Koyama was about the same height as himself, approximately 180 centimeters tall, but extremely slender. He was wearing a white shirt and gray trousers, and his protruding shoulder blades were almost visible through the fabric.

However, his facial features were very handsome, with long eyebrows, sharp eyes, and well-defined contours, effectively offsetting the sense of frailty from his body. With his upright posture and rugged temperament, he looked very masculine.

“Good evening,” Yin Bo said with a smile, stepping aside to invite him in.

Kazumi Koyama had a neutral expression, giving a slight bow and saying softly, “Sorry for the disturbance. Please, take care of me.”

A typical Japanese, formal and polite. Yin Bo closed the door behind him, already smelling a faint sweetness—the pheromones were starting to emanate from Kazumi Koyama, presumably from the few minutes he spent outside Yin Bo’s door.

The dormitory was an open space, and upon entering, they saw a large double bed. Kazumi Koyama paused for a moment upon seeing it, then stood beside the sofa chair, saying, “I’ve had the surveillance turned off.”

“Oh, really?” Yin Bo had noticed since Kazumi Koyama knocked on his door that all surveillance in his dormitory had been deactivated. It was evident that they held this guide in high regard and didn’t dare to broadcast their bonding process.

“I have something to tell you,” Kazumi Koyama sat down, his posture very proper, legs together, hands resting on his knees, as if attending some important meeting.

“Um, alright, we should have some time.” Yin Bo could already feel the sweet scent emanating from him, feeling a bit restless, but he could maintain his composure for a few more minutes before the bonding heat fully kicked in.

“I know you’re a strong sentinel, and you’re concealing your aura. Haynes asked me, and I helped cover it up for you.” Kazumi Koyama’s cheekbones slowly tinged with a hint of blush, clearly resisting the bonding heat, but his control was very good, and even in this state, his gaze remained clear. “They didn’t want to provide me with a strong sentinel because they were afraid I would control the sentinel and go against them. You guessed it right, I didn’t volunteer for this experiment. Originally… forget it, let’s not talk about this for now. Anyway, I want to leave this place, I need a sentinel to help me, and you meet all the conditions I hope for—strong, discreet, and with a deceptive appearance.”

The bonding heat was starting to take effect, his eyes becoming dazed, his pupils gradually turning into vertical slits as he looked at Yin Bo’s handsome and charming face, his voice becoming deep and magnetic, “And… you’re very handsome.”

“Oh, really, thank you for the compliment,” Yin Bo was feeling restless too; their compatibility was too high, and the bonding heat was coming much faster than expected. He felt a red mist in his eyes, and his vision became distorted and blurry. “I understand. You want me to help you. Indeed, this isn’t a good place to stay. But are you sure that having me will guarantee your escape?”

“Fifty-fifty,” Kazumi Koyama pondered for a moment, saying, “I’m not a hundred percent sure.”

“Um, worth a try anyway,” Yin Bo nodded, undoing the belt of his bathrobe, revealing his beautifully sculpted upper body to the guide.

Yin Bo’s physique was extremely rare among strong sentinels. He had a slender frame, with most of his muscles appearing elongated, his skin taut and fair, devoid of any body hair, and even his pores were extremely delicate. That’s why Kazumi Koyama said he had a “deceptive appearance”—he was the epitome of the so-called “big top acting like a bottom.”

Of course, this was also related to his gender; male sentinels were a rarity among rarities.

Upon seeing his almost perfect body, Kazumi Koyama couldn’t help but inhale deeply, making a difficult swallowing sound in his throat. He said, “Who… who exactly are you? I don’t believe you’re just an assistant. I can sense your consciousness cloud, and your defensive and offensive abilities are stronger than the strongest soldiers here.”

“Yeah, I’m stronger than all of them,” Yin Bo leaned forward, his left hand resting on Kazumi Koyama’s thin shoulder, his right hand gently caressing his lips, chin, then sliding down to his Adam’s apple, lightly rubbing it with his thumb. “I’ll give you an explanation, but you have to come and get it yourself.”

The bonding point was touched, and Kazumi Koyama’s pupils suddenly contracted into thin vertical slits. He unconsciously licked his lips, his tongue touching the spot where Yin Bo had touched, his face turning red almost to the point of bleeding. “Alright, you can bond with me… now.”

Yin Bo kissed his lower lip, his tongue sliding down to lick his Adam’s apple. The taste was exquisite; a pure, disciplined, almost ascetic guide was more delicious than the most exquisite delicacy in the world.

As saliva permeated the pores, the temporary bond was quietly established, and the restlessness caused by the bonding heat temporarily subsided. Kazumi Koyama took a deep breath, his Adam’s apple moving slightly as he swallowed saliva, and he whispered, “God, you’re so sweet.”

“You were very sweet too.” Yin Bo grasped his upper arm and pulled him up, embracing his waist and kissing him, unbuttoning his shirt. Kazumi Koyama responded somewhat clumsily, but perhaps intellectuals have higher intelligence, so he quickly grasped the key techniques of kissing, responding to Yin Bo’s lips and tongue, imitating his movements to kiss him back.

After a while, they both were breathing heavily. Kazumi Koyama looked at Yin Bo’s delicate face affectionately, shyly licked the saliva at the corner of his mouth, and said, “I used to think I was straight, hmm, but now I think maybe I can also be a 1.” 2

“…” Yin Bo felt like he was about to be burned by the bonding heat. After a while, he compromised and said, “Well, I’m a 0.5.” 3
