Chapter 121: The Wedding Night and Registration Day

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Amidst the bustling crowd, the two people seeking a private moment silently made eye contact. Even though they were separated by the entire system, Wu Chenghe could still feel the intense resentment in Jin Xuan’s gaze. He quietly retracted his arm from the squirrel guide’s grasp and discreetly distanced himself from her a little.

Jin Xuan strongly rejected any physical contact with others, even men like Yin Bo or Mu. Back in medical school, Mu used to pat him whenever he was unhappy. After tolerating it twice, Jin Xuan seriously sent Mu an email, requesting him to mind his teaching methods and avoid casually touching his guide. Furious, Mu showed the email to Wu Chenghe and then patted him again, but from then on, he refrained from touching Jin Xuan in his presence—sentinels’ possessiveness was truly frightening; too much jealousy could lead to social retaliation.

Seeing Wu Chenghe obediently keeping his distance from the female guide, Jin Xuan’s eyes softened a bit, and he strode towards him. Perhaps due to his relaxed demeanor, an eighteenth-level male guide finally mustered the courage to block his path and softly said, “Colonel Jin, hello, my name is…”

Jin Xuan had to stop and step back to let the other finish his sentence. Although he was there just to take his child and the child’s father away, he still had to follow protocol and not offend others too much.

The eighteenth-level guide was extremely nervous and took a long time to introduce himself. Another slender female guide also seemed eager to approach Jin Xuan.

Wu Chenghe habitually waited for Jin Xuan to come to him, but today the situation seemed unfavorable. Jin Xuan was too popular; if Wu Chenghe kept waiting passively, he might not get Jin Xuan’s attention until the evening dance ended.

A surge of jealousy rose within him. Wu Chenghe realized for the first time that he was quite possessive too. Taking a deep breath, he interrupted the chattering squirrel guide, saying, “Sorry, I have to excuse myself.”

Then, amidst the stunned gazes of the other guides, he walked over without hesitation, brushed aside the stammering eighteenth-level guide, and elegantly bowed to Jin Xuan with a gentlemanly gesture, extending his left hand, “Colonel, may I have this dance?”

The unexpected role reversal caught Jin Xuan off guard. He looked at Wu Chenghe with a faint smile, his stern expression melting away. He nodded, “My pleasure.”

Ignoring the embarrassed eighteenth-level guide and the gasps of the crowd, he placed his right hand on Wu Chenghe’s left hand, his left hand on Wu Chenghe’s shoulder, and surprisingly, accepted the dance invitation in the female role, smoothly transitioning into the female dance steps.

A nearby sentinel who knew him whistled teasingly. Jin Xuan raised his eyebrows at him without any embarrassment and guided his own guide into the dance floor.

The system played a soothing melody, and several couples were already dancing, but none were as eye-catching as Jin Xuan and Wu Chenghe—Jin Xuan was simply too handsome, a rising star in the military with a distinguished background, and once a teenage idol. In contrast, Wu Chenghe was relatively obscure, despite being the son of a commander. His appearance and fame were overshadowed by Jin Xuan.

The most unbelievable part was that King Jin was willing to dance the female steps for him!

Wu Chenghe regretted his decision after just half a turn; so many eyes were on him, making him feel like a pincushion. He should have hidden in a corner earlier, letting Jin Xuan fend off the others until it was almost time to leave!

Although the virtual system couldn’t use telepathy, Jin Xuan could read his thoughts through his expression and eyes. Smiling slightly, he suddenly stopped dancing and said, “Follow me.”

Without waiting for a response, he pulled Wu Chenghe towards the door. They ran out of the ballroom, down the steps, through glowing bushes, and all the way to the lake. Jin Xuan didn’t stop, pulling Wu Chenghe onto the lake. Wu Chenghe instinctively cried out, but then realized his virtual body wasn’t sinking. Instead, they were floating on the lake, their toes touching the surface, creating ripples of golden light.

They ran across the wide lake, leaving golden footprints behind, countless ripples spreading, merging, and turning the entire lake into a shimmering gold.

Jin Xuan abruptly stopped in the middle of the lake, causing Wu Chenghe to crash into his arms, exclaiming, “Ouch… what are you doing!”

Jin Xuan chuckled softly, wrapping his arms tightly around him. With no other choice, Wu Chenghe loosely hugged him back, resting his chin on Jin Xuan’s shoulder and looking around. The virtual scenery was unbelievably beautiful—the light purple sky held a pale golden moon, its light casting a golden sheen on the ripples. Blooming water lilies swayed gently with the waves, and a breeze carried the pollen of glowing orchids through the air. They stood on the water, their reflections clear and vivid, with red koi swimming below, playfully circling their shadows.

“What did you do? Hack the system?” Wu Chenghe asked Jin Xuan.

Jin Xuan replied with a casual “Mm-hmm,” and said, “I just tweaked a few minor parameters. Initially, I wanted to make significant changes because their artistic taste is terrible—so gaudy, not romantic at all. But, well, less trouble is better, so I left it at that.”

Wu Chenghe was at a loss for words against Jin Xuan’s audacious and skilled behavior, and could only sigh, “Stop messing around. Why hack into the school’s virtual network for such a trivial matter? I’m about to leave anyway.”

“Because you like it,” Jin Xuan said softly, “I wanted to create a beautiful memory of our date for you!”

Embracing Jin Xuan, Wu Chenghe pondered for a moment and then couldn’t help but laugh, “A date… it really is.”

Jin Xuan laughed too, stepping back and releasing his arms. He then said, “Come on, we didn’t finish the last dance. Let’s continue.” He bowed gracefully, “May I, my lord?” speaking in a perfect London accent.

Wu Chenghe nodded, trying to keep a straight face, “Willingly,” playing along in a classical manner.

Somehow, Jin Xuan had done something again, as a melodious tune began to play in the air—it was the same song they danced to three years ago before leaving Gabriel—”Save the last dance for me.”

“You hacked the system again?” Wu Chenghe said, amused and exasperated.

Jin Xuan raised an eyebrow, “Isn’t it obvious?”

“…,” Wu Chenghe was speechless, amazed by the brilliance of a genius.

In the beautiful blues tune, they danced on the shimmering golden lake, creating one golden ripple after another. Green lotus leaves floated on the surface, red koi fish followed their steps playfully, and occasionally, waterbirds flew past, singing melodiously.

The lake surface was like a natural mirror, reflecting their graceful dance. As Wu Chenghe watched their reflections, he recalled the night three years ago when Miss Lancer played a prank on him, and he wandered alone in the garden. Jin Xuan found him, talked about dreams and his past… They shared a drink and danced among the roses, promising to meet again in Aston…

In a blink, three years had passed. They had experienced sweet love, heart-wrenching separations, battles of life and death, and now, at this moment, they were finally standing together legally…

It was not easy.

“Don’t forget who’s taking you home, and in whose arms you’re gonna be… Save the last dance for me.” The tender male voice whispered, making Wu Chenghe’s heart ache. His breath became unsteady, and he instinctively wrapped his arms around Jin Xuan’s neck, kissing him on the lips.

Even without empathic connection, Jin Xuan understood why Wu Chenghe was so emotional at this moment. He lowered his head to return the kiss, gently brushing Wu Chenghe’s cheek, “It’s all over now. We will be fine, always fine… and the kids too.”

“…Mm.”

At six in the evening, the first phase of the matchmaking event, the “Virtual Dance,” ended, and the guides and sentinels exited the system one by one. After dinner, a message came from the campus network, asking them to submit the names of their chosen candidates, with each person allowed to select up to three, regardless of gender.

Wu Chenghe had no other options; he filled all three slots with Jin Xuan’s code. After submitting, he turned off the system, took a bath, and changed clothes, preparing to welcome the father of his children.

The next three hours were a long wait. During this time, the school’s matchmaking system would score every possible pairing based on the submitted lists. The scoring parameters included mutual willingness, gender compatibility, genetic traits, personality tests, and more. Based on the scores, the system would determine each guide’s meeting candidate and publish the results.

At exactly ten o’clock, the second phase of the matchmaking event began. The school’s special hovercraft brought the sentinels to the Tungusic campus, delivering them to the corresponding guides’ dormitories as per the announcement. If lucky, the pairs would quickly trigger bonding heat and naturally establish a lifelong bond. If their compatibility was below 60%, the sentinel would return to the hotel, waiting for the next round of announcements. The system would reorder all unmatched sentinels and guides for another round of meetings.

This process would last two to three hours, and usually, everyone would find a suitable partner before midnight.

All the guides were anxiously waiting for the moment of fate, even Wu Chenghe felt nervous. Although they were already the fathers of two children, today was their first time being publicly and legally together!

What should he wear? Formal attire? Casual clothes? Or maybe just pajamas, since they would end up in bed anyway… Wu Chenghe, like a rookie on his first date, paced around the wardrobe, hesitating for a long time before opening the bottom drawer and taking out a long-cherished “battle robe.”

At ten o’clock, the boathouse’s doorbell rang. Wu Chenghe took a deep breath and opened the door, revealing Jin Xuan, whom he hadn’t seen for over a month.

Jin Xuan, looking just as dashing as his holographic image earlier in the day, wore a crisp navy uniform and a military cap. However, when he saw Wu Chenghe’s outfit, his face turned green instantly, “Are you serious? Even if we’re old married folks, you shouldn’t be so unkempt, especially after a brief separation!”

Wu Chenghe spent too much time hesitating in the wardrobe, having just taken a bath. He was now wearing soft, saggy pajama pants, a white tank top, and his hair was still damp and messy, giving off a “cute and clueless” vibe. He didn’t look like it was his wedding night, nor like a father of two; he seemed more like a passerby.

Jin Xuan was exasperated. Their aesthetic senses had never been on the same plane!

Feeling wronged after being scolded the moment they met, Wu Chenghe wrinkled his nose and said, “I am well-groomed. I took a bath, shaved, and even trimmed my nails…” He blushed and tugged at his pajama waistband. “I-I even wore a thong. Do you want to see?”

A thong? Jin Xuan immediately felt their aesthetics aligning again. “You’ve finally decided to wear it after so long? Come here, let me see!”

Feeling embarrassed, Wu Chenghe walked over hesitantly. Jin Xuan grabbed his waistband and pulled it down, revealing a pair of pure white thong underwear. Two white silk ribbons wrapped around his thighs, exposing his entire buttocks, which fit perfectly into Jin Xuan’s hands.

Jin Xuan immediately did just that, grabbing Wu Chenghe’s buttocks with both hands and, with a little force, lifted his guide up. Wu Chenghe let out a low cry and quickly wrapped his arms around Jin Xuan’s neck, saying, “To the bedroom.”

“Why not here?” Jin Xuan carried him to the dining table, kissing his lips and lifting his tank top to caress his chest. “It’s just the two of us, no one else can see. What difference does it make between the living room and the bedroom?”

Wu Chenghe thought it made sense. Although doing it outside the bedroom felt a bit uncomfortable, the bonding heat gradually overtook him, making him oblivious to his surroundings, completely immersed in the overwhelming emotions, soft and yielding.

The old saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” held true. They moved from the dining table to the coffee table, then to the bed, and even had another round on the study desk. By the time the clock struck midnight, Wu Chenghe was drenched in sweat and panting heavily.

“You don’t seem to be in good shape,” Jin Xuan said, lying on top of him, licking the sweat from his nose and caressing his wet hair. “You used to last longer… are you experiencing premature ejaculation?”

“You… you’re the one with premature ejaculation!” Wu Chenghe retorted angrily, pushing against his chest. “I’m just exhausted. I’ve been running around after those two little troublemakers. I just sent them off this morning. First graduation exams, then playing nanny, I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep in over a month.”

“No wonder, you’ve lost weight. Look at your ribs, like the strings of a pipa.” Jin Xuan said, feeling pity, as he traced a finger down Wu Chenghe’s ribs, making sound effects, “Ding ding ding…”

Wu Chenghe slapped his hand away, annoyed. Jin Xuan sat up on the bed and said, “Speaking of which, I haven’t seen the kids yet. Where are they? Can you take me to see them?”

Wu Chenghe, his legs still weak, lay down for a while before getting up. “They’re in the hospital. I had the medical officer leave the door open. Let’s go, I’ll take you to see them.”

The two took a shower together, changed clothes, and walked to the guide hospital to see the children. The medical officer, Luther, kept his word and left the door open, moving the on-duty nurse aside, so they easily entered the nursery.

The room was quiet, the AI nanny in sleep mode in the corner. In the two cribs, Mr. Wu was sleeping soundly, butt in the air, thumb in his mouth. Mr. Jin, however, had his legs crossed over the crib rail, his brows furrowed in a worried expression.

“This is the older brother, Wu Chenggong,” Wu Chenghe pointed to his elder son, then to the younger, “And this is the younger brother, named after you, Jin Shengli! Aren’t I generous?”

Jin Xuan had mixed feelings about these names, but he walked over carefully, kneeling by the cribs to look at his sons. The ten-month-old boys had developed distinct features, clearly inheriting Wu Chenghe’s long eyes, slightly drooping at the corners, looking adorably soft. Their noses were narrow but upturned, and their lips were a pale pink, contrasting with their fair skin, making them look very cute.

“They both look like you,” Jin Xuan said contentedly. “So cute!”

“This one is like you,” Wu Chenghe pointed to the younger one, “His temper is just like yours. Very troublesome.”

“Am I troublesome?” Jin Xuan raised an eyebrow, then chuckled, “A bad husband is loved by his wife!”

Wu Chenghe playfully shook his neck, making Jin Xuan roll his eyes and stick out his tongue, laughing deeply. Perhaps sensing a connection, Jin Shengli woke up, opened his big eyes, and looked at them disapprovingly. He took the pacifier out of his mouth and threw it at Jin Xuan’s face, saying, “Go away!”

Wu Chenghe couldn’t help but burst into laughter, rolling on the floor while covering his mouth. Jin Xuan, with a dark expression, pounced on him and said, “What are you laughing at? Did you hear him? He actually told me to scram!”

“Hahaha!” Wu Chenghe, holding back his laughter to the point of chest pain, replied, “The first time I met him, he did the same thing to me! Hahaha… He has a temper when he wakes up, so don’t wake him.”

Feeling utterly frustrated, Jin Xuan scooped Wu Chenghe up and held him close. They both leaned over the crib to watch their son. After throwing the pacifier, Jin Shengli turned over and fell back asleep, reaching through the crib rails to grab his brother’s foot. Comforted, he began to snore softly. Wu Chenggong subconsciously extended his leg to make it easier for his brother to hold on, no longer sticking his butt in the air, and fell into a peaceful sleep in a starfish position.

“So cute!” Jin Xuan was instantly smitten, hugging Wu Chenghe tightly. “I just want to take them home right now and play with them every day!”

Wu Chenghe smiled to himself, mentally lighting a candle for Jin Xuan. “Sure, remember what you’re saying now and don’t forget it.”

The two young fathers stayed by the cribs, silently watching the two little ones sleep. Jin Xuan couldn’t get enough of it, while Wu Chenghe, having spent every day with them, was already quite exhausted. But since Jin Xuan didn’t want to leave, he had no choice but to stay, eventually dozing off in his arms.

Hearing the faint snores from his guide, Jin Xuan gently laid Wu Chenghe on the ground, positioning his head on his lap to make him comfortable. He leaned against the crib, hooking his pinky finger with Jin Shengli’s tiny one, smiling foolishly.

It was their first family reunion, happening unexpectedly in the nursery of the guide hospital. Jin Xuan was too excited to sleep, dozing off only at dawn. When he opened his eyes, Wu Chenghe was also waking up. They shared a glance and naturally exchanged a light kiss with a “pop” sound.

“Shh!” Wu Chenghe immediately gestured for silence, whispering, “They’re about to wake up. Don’t make any noise, or we won’t be able to leave.”

Although Jin Xuan wished his sons would wake up and see him, Wu Chenghe’s wary expression suggested that waking them up might lead to some dire consequences. So, he nodded in agreement. Wu Chenghe got up, stretched his stiff limbs, and motioned for him to follow. Jin Xuan reluctantly took one last look at his sons and quietly followed him out of the nursery.

“We should be the first to register for marriage,” Wu Chenghe said loudly once they were outside. “The others are probably sleeping in since it’s their first bond. If we’re late, we’ll have to wait in line.”

The third phase of the matchmaking event was registering their marriage. The Federation’s marriage registration office had set up a special point at the Tungusic guide school, where the successfully bonded guide-sentinel pairs would register their marriages throughout the day.

After registration, there would be a grand evening reception, attended by the newly married couples, school leaders, and teachers. It was a networking event where students said their farewells and sentinels, who were military and political elites, could establish connections.

Jin Xuan nodded repeatedly. It had been three years since he found Wu Chenghe in the refrigerator on Gabriel, and now their sons were nearly a year old. Finally, he had reached this day!

He needed to get that marriage certificate immediately. He wanted to be officially recognized!

Sensing Jin Xuan’s thoughts through their telepathic connection, Wu Chenghe couldn’t help but laugh. Who would have thought that the great God King would have such a day!

Jin Xuan, feeling uncharacteristically embarrassed, held Wu Chenghe’s hand, saying, “What’s so funny? If you keep laughing, I won’t get the certificate and will just blow up the school to take you away!”

“Take some medicine,” Wu Chenghe said, trying not to laugh, “You’re a father now. Don’t act so childishly.”

Jin Xuan didn’t understand what Wu Chenghe meant but sensed that “childish” wasn’t a compliment. Gritting his teeth, he glared at him for a while, then suddenly scooped him up by the waist and threw him into the air with all his strength.

“Ah—!” Wu Chenghe was startled, screaming as he was thrown seventeen or eighteen meters high. The green sky seemed to get closer and closer, the wind whistling in his ears, and his heart almost jumped out of his throat.

At the peak of the arc, Wu Chenghe felt a brief pause, then began to plummet rapidly. Just as he caught his breath, he couldn’t help but scream again, “Ah—”

At that moment, a silver-gray crack appeared in the sky above, and the green tide swirling outside the protective barrier dissipated rapidly, retreating from the center point. In the clearing gap, a patch of silver-gray sky slowly emerged.

Wu Chenghe was dumbfounded, mouth agape, his scream stuck in his throat. As he was seven or eight meters from the ground, Jin Xuan leaped up, extending his arms to catch him securely, and they both landed heavily. The impact was so strong that two tiles on the ground cracked with a crisp “crack” sound, but no one paid attention to the damage. Doctors and nurses poured out of the guide hospital, joyfully gazing at the sky and exclaiming, “Ah, the green tide has finally passed!”

The flood season in Tungusic had ended, the green tide receded, revealing the entire city standing on the dried continental shelf. The grayish-blue atmosphere appeared outside the protective shield, and the air filtration system quickly worked to remove the stench brought by the green tide, replacing it with the sweet scent of phosphorescent orchids.

Still shaken, Wu Chenghe looked up at the sky, taking a moment to recover before grabbing Jin Xuan’s collar and angrily saying, “I told you not to throw me around again!”

“I throw you because I like you. Have you ever seen me throw anyone else?” Jin Xuan said with a mischievous smile, pecking his nose. “Alright, I apologize. It won’t happen again. I was wrong, okay?”

Looking at his handsome face, Wu Chenghe sighed, realizing his weakness for good looks. Despite being brushed off so lightly, his anger dissipated. He let go of Jin Xuan’s collar with a huff, saying, “Let’s go register!”

Jin Xuan nodded eagerly, following behind like an obedient dog, occasionally asking for Wu Chenghe’s opinion. “Jin Zhe said he wants to throw us a wedding when we get back. What do you think?”

“…Forget it. The kids are already so big. Isn’t it weird to have a wedding now?”

“I think so too, but Jin Zhe said he’s given out a lot of wedding gifts over the years. If we don’t have a wedding, he wants me to pay him back.”

“We made over a hundred thousand in the arena at Tianque, right? Just give it to him.”

“What about the remaining eight hundred thousand?”

“…Maybe having a wedding isn’t so bad. Everyone will know we’re married. What does your brother suggest?”

“He said the ceremony should be Western-style, but the banquet should be Chinese. Hire a master of ceremonies, invite people from the cabinet, congress, judiciary, and navy. Oh, and the Voyager Army. Send an invitation to your dad and ask him to prepare a proper dowry… We should also invite the guide school, Aston Medical College, Dean Mu, and Sienna from St. Martin Research Center. Your bestie Chen Miaomiao must come too. If we invite her, we might as well invite Popova and Chen Zhen too. How about we hold the banquet at Chen’s Sign of Good Fortune? If Chen Zhen is invited, we might get a fifty percent discount and won’t need his wedding gift…”

“…Stop! How about we just pay your brother back? Could I sell a kidney to cover the eight hundred thousand?”

“Probably…not.”

“Broke bastard, scram!”
