Chapter 126: Confession Really Lost Face

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

After the wedding that lost all sense of dignity, Wu Chenghe spent two days feeling like he was walking on cotton. Not to mention making Jin Xuan kneel on durian, he couldn’t even remember how many sons he had—his tolerance for alcohol was just too poor!

Returning from a business trip, Mu called to pick up Zhuang Zhuang. Still groggy from the alcohol, Wu Chenghe stared foolishly at the holographic call for a while, not knowing what got into him. He just called out, “Uncle!”

Mu’s heart, which had been operating safely for over thirty years, almost stopped working right then and there. Luckily, Wu Chenghe quickly apologized and changed his address to “Dad,” saying he was too drunk to recognize people. He even instructed him to “take care of my mom” and “don’t join Auntie Li next door for square dancing.” That’s when Mu realized he was completely drunk and imagining himself as someone else, throwing a tantrum here.

The Queen was furious but couldn’t reason with a drunkard. He had to transfer the call to Jin Xuan, but Jin Xuan was unexpectedly summoned to a meeting by Yan Ling and was unreachable due to information blocking. After hesitating for a while, he reluctantly contacted Jin Zhe for his daughter’s sake.

The call went to Jin Zhe’s first secretary, but within half a minute, Jin Zhe personally replied using his private line, the same one he frequently used to communicate with Zhuang Zhuang. Mu felt something was off seeing the line ID, and when the call connected, he was startled to see the holographic image of His Excellency the President—naked. He had answered the call bare-chested!

What time was it? Mu suspected his clock was malfunctioning. After quickly checking, he realized it was indeed eight in the morning… Shouldn’t the President be at work at this hour? Why was he still lying naked in bed?

Mu felt extremely embarrassed, unsure whether to hang up and ask him to put on clothes or quickly finish the conversation. But His Excellency the President showed no hint of embarrassment, getting off his big bed bare-chested and asking with a smile, “The secretary said you have something urgent?”

If you talk about Jin Zhe’s physique, it was quite impressive. Sentinels were naturally robust, and he had been in the military in his early years. After entering politics, he still had a specialized physical trainer, so his condition was quite good. His muscular structure was strong and vigorous, hidden under formal attire but revealing a wild masculine beauty when stripped.

Mu had been celibate for many years. Seeing his well-defined chest muscles, he was momentarily distracted but quickly regained his composure, reminding himself to regard His Excellency the President’s body with a scientific eye, like examining a specimen.

With a casual glance, Mu suddenly felt a sense of familiarity. Jin Zhe’s body was covered in scars large and small, although the left side was mostly hidden by black thorn rose tattoos, the overall distribution was still visible. Mu had an exceptional memory. For any case he handled, he could recall the treatment process upon seeing the person without needing to check records. He felt like he knew many of the wounds on Jin Zhe’s body very well, as if he had treated them himself.

“What’s wrong?” Jin Zhe waited for two seconds without him speaking, suddenly realizing and putting on the robe hanging on the coat rack. He apologized, “Sorry, I worked late yesterday, slept in a bit this morning, still haven’t freshened up… Sorry, I forgot you’re a fertile man-.”

Mu was speechless. Was this even a gender issue? Did His Excellency think it was okay to show off his muscles bare-chested because he wasn’t a man-? Wasn’t he the President? Where was his dignity?

“It’s okay, please carry on.” Mu couldn’t say anything to Jin Zhe anymore, discreetly waved his hand, and said, “Sorry to disturb your rest. I called Wu Chenghe earlier, but he’s still drunk and can’t make any sense. Jin Xuan is also unavailable.”

“Oh, Wu Chenghe drank too much. He slept all day yesterday and woke up at night calling me ‘Dad.’ Haha, that kid has such poor alcohol tolerance, it’s hilarious when he gets drunk.” Jin Zhe rubbed his hair and said, “Jin Xuan is at the military headquarters for a meeting. Do you need anything?”

Mu mentally pictured Wu Chenghe calling everyone “Dad” and felt a headache coming. Given that he was facing His Excellency the President, he suppressed the urge to punch someone and said with a smile, “Well, I’ve returned from my business trip and want to bring Zhuang Zhuang home. She’s been causing quite a stir at the mansion, thanks to your attention.”

“Where’s the trouble? It’s she who takes care of me.” Jin Zhe laughed heartily, “Since she’s here, the twins dare not bully me anymore, haha!”

Mu smiled faintly and said, “You’re too kind. My daughter is my own, and I know what she’s like. She just looks obedient in front of you. When she gets rowdy, ten boys wouldn’t be able to handle her. You don’t need to speak up for her anymore.”

“I’m not speaking up for her. She’s ten times better than what I say.” Jin Zhe didn’t hide his love for his daughter at all, stroking his hair and smiling for a while before sighing, “If only I had a daughter like her.”

Mu’s eyelids twitched but he didn’t say anything. Jin Zhe’s smile gradually faded, and his gaze became calm as he said, “There’s something I want to talk to you about, Mu.”

This was the first time he addressed him directly by his name. Mu’s heart skipped a beat for some reason, and he asked, “What?”

“Since the last time I saw Zhuang Zhuang in Saint Martin, I’ve been in contact with her through voice messages,” Jin Zhe said. “I know it’s not quite appropriate, but at the time, I found out her quantum beast had just manifested. Because her psychic power was unstable, it might have caused minor harm to the little thing, making it disappear frequently. So, I wanted to help her.”

Mu was stunned. He didn’t expect Jin Zhe to reveal this. He thought Jin Zhe would continue to quietly contact Zhuang Zhuang. After all, as a sperm donor, he couldn’t possibly have custody of the child. This was probably the only way Jin Zhe could get close to Zhuang Zhuang.

“I guess you already know about this, right?” Just as Mu was wondering why Jin Zhe was telling him the truth, Jin Zhe dropped another bombshell. “I saw traces of parental mode browsing in her terminal system.”

Mu’s eyelids twitched again. When he had discovered that Jin Zhe might be Zhuang Zhuang’s other father, he had checked the other’s information. He vaguely remembered that Jin Zhe had a doctoral degree in information… So, had he known all along that Mu had discovered their secret?

It made sense. Someone who would dare to tamper with his sperm could do anything.

Before Mu could recover from his shock, Jin Zhe dropped another bombshell. “If you’ve browsed through her conversations with me, you should know that her quantum beast is a Barbary lion cub.” He paused, emphasizing each word. “Just like me, it’s a Barbary lion cub.”

Mu’s mind exploded. He had wondered why Jin Zhe had provided him with sperm, why he hadn’t exposed him as a guide when he found out. A little over a month ago, when he discovered Jin Zhe’s private contact with Zhuang Zhuang, he even worried that Jin Zhe might expose his identity to gain custody of his daughter.

He had prepared for the worst, but he thought these things wouldn’t happen in the short term, at least not before the change of administration. After all, Jin Zhe still needed to use the Free Guide Organization and consider Sienna’s influence in Congress. Never did he expect Jin Zhe to confront him now, not even willing to wait for the change of administration!

What did he want to do? What compelled him to confront Mu like this? Mu was shocked and angry, but his eyes were cold and calm. Suddenly, he looked up and said coldly, “So, what do you want to say, Your Excellency the President?”

His words came out one by one, like knives, and even through the holographic system, one could feel the icy breath. Jin Zhe felt that the most critical test in his life had arrived. He took a deep breath and said, “Perhaps you’ve already guessed it, Mu. I am Yan’s other father.”

“Huh!” Mu laughed in anger. “Please pay attention to the rigor of your words, Your Excellency the President. Even if what you say is true, you can only say that you’re a sperm donor! The word ‘father’ is too sacred. If every sperm donor can be called a father, our federation would be filled with irresponsible ‘fathers’!”

Jin Zhe didn’t answer immediately. He waited until Mu calmed down a bit before speaking. Veins started to appear on his temple.

Mu ignored his increasingly ugly expression and continued quickly, “So you didn’t expose me. Instead, you tried various ways to show goodwill to our organization, winning our trust. Your Excellency the President, I’m not accusing you. From the perspective of the federal government, I fully understand your actions. Although I’m just a doctor, I also hope that the Voyager Army can submit to federal leadership, and humanity can remain united. Everything you’ve done is for this noble goal, and I admire it very much!”

Here, he took a deep breath and turned sharply, “But why do you have to insult me like this? Just because I’m a guide, because I’m a fertile man-, because I want a child, you can use me so wantonly, binding me to you with a special relationship? Do you think that this way, I and my organization will never dare to betray you? You underestimate me, Your Excellency the President. Not everyone is as despicable as you imagine. I’m not a politician. I always stand on the side of justice. I won’t betray my beliefs for the sake of interests! I can tell you very clearly, as long as you stand on the federal side, as long as you’re willing to work for the improvement of guides, I and my organization will support you!”

“So you’re really stupid, Your Excellency the President. As a collaborator, I have to advise you that if you want others’ loyalty, you should show some sincerity, not play these despicable tricks!” Mu sneered and shook his head, then paused and said, “I just don’t understand why you would tell me the truth at this time. Shouldn’t you wait until after the change of administration? Aren’t you afraid that I’ll turn my back on you at this critical juncture and support your competitors instead?”

“Because you’ve only guessed half of it,” Jin Zhe took a deep breath, finally speaking. “Because I love you.”

Silence. Mu’s dark pupils suddenly contracted, his expression freezing on his face. Through the holographic system, Jin Zhe looked into his eyes and said word by word, “I didn’t expose your guide identity because I didn’t want to expose the Free Guide Organization prematurely. I didn’t want any Free Guide to fall into the hands of the Voyager Army. But the reason I donated sperm to you wasn’t to blackmail you. It was because I strongly wanted to possess you, to keep you for myself! Since the first day I met you, I couldn’t tolerate any other man having you. This desire is probably even stronger than yours!”

Mu was stunned. He could understand every word Jin Zhe said, but he couldn’t digest any of them—what was this man talking about? Love? Possession? Why? Just because they had 100% compatibility?

“For objective reasons, I couldn’t expose your guide identity. It would cause turmoil in the Free Guide Organization and significant losses to the federation. But out of subjective desire, I wanted to be with you, to marry you.” Jin Zhe tried to calm down. “But these two conflicted. I’m the President; I couldn’t mark you at the time while concealing your identity. On the one hand, I couldn’t break the law. On the other hand, I know my own personality well. Once I marked you, I wouldn’t be able to stand you working away from me. And your work is crucial for both you and me.”

Mu had never experienced such a miraculous conversation in his life. He didn’t know how to respond, how to control his expression—should he thank the President for supporting his career, or slap him in the face?

“So I chose a foolish way to assert my ownership over you,” Jin Zhe continued his shameless confession. “Through some channels, I learned that you were looking for sperm donors, so I made a small change to the backend system of the sperm bank, adding myself to the list. Luckily, I matched your criteria perfectly, and as you said, my approach was indeed stupid. But I don’t regret my decision. If I were given another chance, I would do the same thing again.”

“…,” Mu was so shocked that he didn’t know how to respond to this bizarre confession… Was this even a confession?

Jin Zhe paused for a moment and then continued, “Mu, you can’t imagine my feelings for you. It’s not just instinct brought by pheromones and bonding heat, not just because of our 100% compatibility, not even because of your position in the Free Guide Organization. I can’t explain it to you for now, but please believe me, I’m not an impulsive person. I’m fifty-eight years old; I know what I’m doing.” He paused and looked into Mu’s eyes deeply and seriously. “I’m not the president right now, nor am I a sentinel. I’m just an ordinary man who has loved you for a long, long time, longer than you can imagine. Mu, I beg you to consider seriously, become my mate, and raise our daughter together.”

After saying this, he fell silent, waiting quietly for Mu’s response.

Mu was completely dumbfounded by the President’s successive bombshells. It wasn’t until he heard the last part about “raising our daughter together” that he suddenly woke up. His elegant eyebrows lifted sharply, and he said, “Don’t you find your words contradictory, Your Excellency the President? The current situation seems no different from two years ago. If I become your mate now, you still can’t resolve the existing contradictions—I can’t expose my identity, and you can’t break the law. Once we’re together, I’ll inevitably have to sacrifice my career and rely on you. And now, the joint project between the Naval Research Institute and Saint Martin has just begun. What made you change your original decision and suddenly explain everything to me?”

He chuckled sarcastically, “Let me guess, is it because of Yan? After spending this time with her, do you feel the joy of being a father, do you find it unbearable that she only belongs to me? As her biological father, you can’t openly let her call you ‘dad,’ do you feel increasingly painful? You see, Your Excellency the President, not everything in this world goes according to your expectations. You underestimated my character and underestimated your own humanity. But I have no intention of paying for your regrets. Yan is my daughter, and you can only be a pathetic donor. I won’t become your mate, and she won’t become your child. Don’t think your clouded ‘confession’ can confuse me. We’ve only known each other for two years, met only once. I don’t believe in your so-called ‘love,’ and I’m not interested at all. I can only tell you, no! Way!”

Jin Zhe’s jaw clenched, wanting to speak up in defense, but Mu quickly interrupted him, saying, “From now on, I solemnly warn you, Your Excellency the President, not to have any private contact with my daughter, both in the real world and online. Otherwise, I will file for a restraining order in court. You can ignore my warning if you wish, or you can report me to the Tungusic base and have me arrested. Rest assured, I won’t expose the Free Guide Organization. Just let Sienna appoint a new head, and everything can continue.”

Jin Zhe’s face turned pale. “I never intended that!”

Mu gave a cold smile, cutting in, “Don’t be afraid. I’m not threatening you. I’m not like you, using those disgraceful methods. I’ll transfer custody of the child to Teacher Sienna, and I trust she’ll take good care of my daughter.”

“I didn’t mean that!” Jin Zhe tried to explain the misunderstanding. “I didn’t want you to make a decision immediately. I just wanted you to consider the possibility of being with me! Yes, I really want custody of our daughter, but the primary condition is to be with you! Your term as principal is about to end in half a year, and maybe you could consider working for me…”

“I refuse,” Mu decisively interrupted him. “I can tolerate a scheming president, and I even admire your character, willing to use any means to achieve your goals. But I can’t tolerate spending the rest of my life bound to a conspirator. I can’t tolerate my daughter having a father who wears countless masks. You’re too terrifying, Jin Zhe. I can’t bear it!”

For the first time hearing his name spoken by him, Jin Zhe felt a surge of electricity throughout his body, even though the context of the words was so unpleasant. After the Queen firmly finished speaking, he disconnected the communication without giving Jin Zhe a second to defend himself. Only two minutes later, he added another message: “Please return Yan to my dorm at Aston Medical College by six o’clock this afternoon.”

The holographic image disappeared into thin air, leaving Jin Zhe motionless, maintaining the posture he had during the call, as if the resolute man who didn’t seem like a guide was still standing in front of him.

After a while, Jin Zhe’s broad shoulders slumped slightly, murmuring to himself, “Nothing has changed at all.”

Indeed, Mu hadn’t changed at all, just like the eighteen-year-old youth he had seen over thirty years ago—firm, resolute, and unwilling to yield. He still vividly remembered the scene on the day Mu came of age when they were trapped in a narrow cave, Mu falling into bonding heat, his skin burning hot, their breaths mingling, and his body moist to the touch, sending shivers down his spine. Yet, even in such circumstances, Mu managed to control himself, intruding into his consciousness cloud when he attempted to mark him, nearly crashing him into the rocks.

At that time, Mu was only eighteen years old.

Thirty-three years later, Mu was just as ruthless towards him, and towards himself, still just as ruthless…

Jin Zhe reached into his coat pocket, opened the small box, and felt the small chip inside. After a long sigh, he connected to the special forces communication. “Prepare the car. Send Miss Yan back to Aston Medical College to her father in an hour.”

The special forces acknowledged the order. Jin Zhe changed his clothes, placed the chip back into the box, and tucked it into his pocket before heading to the children’s room.

He had to make Mu understand just how long the period he referred to as “a long, long time, longer than you can imagine” was.

What bound them together wasn’t just a child but also thirty-three years of searching and waiting, spanning between them.

  1. WC drunkenly referring back to his old life, was a little poignant.
Oh dear; that went badly, although unsurprisingly.
Thank you both for the chapter.

  2. This chapter broke me. , I feel so bad for JZ, because it seems like everyone has their HE with their partners except him? Although we can’t blame anyone since it was all due to the circumstances of both, I can’t wait for them to be a complete and happy family 🥺
