Chapter 48: Adorable Personality Shining Brightly

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

The President’s banner was unfurled, and the effect was truly remarkable. The investigation by the Ministry of Justice had only just reached halfway when things suddenly took a turn—Bai, the cream filling in the Oreo combination, also known as the white sidekick of the Balon brothers, voluntarily stepped forward to take on the majority of the responsibility for the incident, shouldering almost all the blame.

According to his account, he had taken a dislike to Wu Chenghe since the beginning of the school year because Wu Chenghe resembled his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, causing his blood pressure to rise and his hormones to go out of balance every time he saw him. So, when he found Wu Chenghe alone cleaning the laboratory that day, he immediately thought of locking him up. As for the Balon brothers, they only helped him out of brotherly loyalty, and they even kindly advised him afterward, but he didn’t take their advice.

Miraculously, the investigators found his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, who did bear a slight resemblance to Wu Chenghe.

Since the surveillance cameras couldn’t determine who was the mastermind and who was the accomplice among the three, and Wu Chenghe, as the party involved, was unaware of what had happened outside the laboratory, the investigation results were quickly determined: Bai was expelled from the college for malicious retaliation; the Balon brothers maintained their original judgment, with the entire college being informed of their criticism; the duty administrator at the experimental center was found to have neglected their duty and left early, resulting in the forfeiture of their quarterly bonus; and the dean of the medical school, Mu, was criticized in writing by the school for poor management.

Receiving the outcome, Wu Chenghe felt somewhat uncomfortable. Aston University’s medical school had a very high admission score, and it wasn’t easy to get in. It was a pity that Bai, who had been accepted, was expelled like this. And Mu, who clearly hadn’t made any mistakes, was also criticized because of him.

Jin Xuan knew he was a softhearted person, so he must be feeling uneasy about such a result. He deliberately took him to see the pandas on the weekend.

Early in the morning, the two squatted outside the fence of the panda kindergarten at the Panda Pavilion. Wu Chenghe rested his chin on the railing, lost in thought, his eyes following a panda cub tumbling around, not speaking for a long time. Jin Xuan patted his head and said, “Don’t dwell on it. It’s not your fault. It must be Balon, fearing to offend Jin Zhe, so he found someone to cover for his twin sons. That’s just how he is.”

Wu Chenghe sighed, “It’s not easy to get into medical school.”

“Physicians should also be compassionate,” Jin Xuan continued, patting his head, “He has no grudge against you. He just framed you to please the Balon brothers. If he becomes a doctor in the future, he will definitely be malicious. It’s better for him to leave early.”

Wu Chenghe thought for a moment and said, “It’s not entirely without reason. I do look like his rival.”

Jin Xuan angrily said, “Impossible! How could there be anyone in this world who looks like you? Are they all blind? Don’t believe such nonsense.”

Wu Chenghe naturally didn’t believe it. He was just used to being a saint and felt a little helpless. After watching the pandas for a while, he gradually felt relieved and said, “Actually, it doesn’t matter about anything else. I just feel sorry for Dean Mu. He has taken care of me so much, and I ended up dragging him into being criticized by the school.”

“It’s his responsibility in the first place. If he hadn’t been lax in his management, the administrator wouldn’t have left early,” Jin Xuan said, “Why do you have so much sympathy for strangers? Can’t you spare some for me?”

Looking at his aggrieved handsome face, Wu Chenghe hesitated for a moment and finally blurted out, “You’re not a stranger.”

Jin Xuan was stunned, slowly realizing what he was saying, and suddenly ecstatic, “Finally admitting that I’m the ‘inner person’?”

As soon as Wu Chenghe spoke, his face turned red. He was particularly awkward in matters of affection and had never said such explicit “sweet nothings” in his two lifetimes. After saying it, he felt it was extremely cheesy. He turned his head pretending to look at the panda cub and hummed, “Whatever.”

Jin Xuan looked at his shy back and felt that his efforts for nearly half a year had not been in vain. His stone-like little dolt finally understood human affairs. He gently turned his little head around and said, “Anyway, I heard it, you’ve confessed to me!”

Wu Chenghe picked up a piece of bamboo and poked him in the chest, “Let go! Don’t touch me in broad daylight. You’ve hurt my face by pinching it so much!”

His skin was extremely fair, glowing with a porcelain-like luster under the sunlight, with faint blushes on his cheekbones, looking incredibly delicious. Jin Xuan gazed into his evasive eyes and couldn’t help pecking him lightly on the lips, feeling the warm, soft touch, and his heart almost melted. He murmured, “No, I want to kiss you. You’re too cute. It’s unreasonable to let you off.”

“…” Wu Chenghe didn’t have time to object before his lips were seized by him. Jin Xuan’s lips carried a faint sweetness, not the sweetness of honey, but a clean taste that made him linger. This taste could only be understood and enjoyed by lovers in love.

The morning breeze gently brushed past, birds chirped crisply in the treetops, and in the distance, the panda cubs happily gnawed on tender bamboo, making a cracking sound. Wu Chenghe instinctively grabbed Jin Xuan’s arm, his tongue responded to his kiss, sucking on his lips, licking his teeth, capturing the intoxicating taste in his mouth, taking the initiative like a self-taught genius.

Jin Xuan held the back of his head, his fingers gently running through his soft hair, squinting to admire his intoxicated expression, abandoning all initiative, letting him aggressively conquer himself, taste himself, like a dominant little animal running wild in his territory.

The feeling was simply wonderful. Jin Xuan cooperated with his kiss, surrendering his entire body and mind to his inspection. The satisfaction and happiness in his heart were about to overflow. He even suspected whether he had a tendency to be masochistic, otherwise why did the feeling of being possessed excite him more than possessing?

This must be the power of true love. Jin Xuan sighed as he kissed his little boyfriend back, soothingly stroking his ears, his hand sliding down to gently caress his slender chest, then further down, grasping his perky buttocks…

Wu Chenghe was startled by his pinching, releasing his lips, his chest heaving violently, his eyes moist. Jin Xuan licked his lips, coaxingly hugged him into his arms, his hand moving between his legs, finding that it had already swollen a bit.

Wu Chenghe’s face immediately changed color, his cheeks as red as boiled shrimp, he grasped Jin Xuan’s wrist and forcefully pushed it away, covering his pants, scolding, “What are you doing!?”

There was desire in his eyes, but also a hint of irritation. Jin Xuan looked at his embarrassed appearance, secretly regretting his impulsiveness. He shouldn’t have teased him when he was just starting to feel emotional. Trying to suppress the flames in his heart, he finally blurted out, “Do you need to pee?”

“…” Wu Chenghe was almost choked by him, feeling both embarrassed and awkward, saying, “No need!”

“Then I’ll go by myself.” Jin Xuan smiled awkwardly, walking towards the bathroom with his legs squeezed together. He was afraid that he couldn’t control himself any longer if he stayed there.

Watching his figure disappear, Wu Chenghe lamented softly, resting his head on the railing and swaying back and forth. The feeling of being touched there was just too strange for him. As a nerd who had been single for two lifetimes, he really couldn’t accept it…

The panda cub, who had been somersaulting for a while, noticed a human watching it and curiously crawled over, picking up a piece of bamboo and poking Wu Chenghe’s leg. Feeling his head shaking back and forth was fun, so it mimicked his actions, propping its big head on the railing and swaying too.

When Jin Xuan returned to the panda kindergarten after dealing with his personal matters, what he saw was such a scene—his little dolt and a chubby panda facing each other, shaking their heads like clockwork, in perfect synchronization.

Ah, why did he regress back to his previous level just as he made progress? Jin Xuan’s shoulders slumped. When would he grow up? But even in such a nonsensical state, he was still so adorable!

Men were easily addicted to sensual pleasure. Originally feeling down, Wu Chenghe was revitalized after a trip to the zoo. He no longer dwelled on Bai’s expulsion issue or worried about Mu blaming him. He happily immersed himself in his studies again.

Indeed, the healing power of love was unparalleled!

A week after the investigation concluded, Bai officially dropped out, and the Oreo combination disbanded completely. Perhaps under pressure from their father, the Balon brothers’ attitude toward Wu Chenghe made a 180-degree turn. They used to scoff at him, but now they respected him greatly, even greeting him proactively when they met on the road.

Wu Chenghe was very uncomfortable with their pretentious attitude, feeling that their drastic change was somewhat suspicious. And based on his instincts as a guide, he felt that his initial worries were not unfounded—his departure had caused the Balon brothers’ hatred towards him to rebound. Although they seemed honest on the surface, once they had the chance, they would definitely dig a bigger pit for him.

As for Mu, his attitude towards him remained unchanged, neither overly caring nor overly reproaching. He would just intentionally give him some guidance on difficult knowledge during professional classes, often enlightening him and making him feel enlightened. He thought this matter had passed, but unexpectedly, just before the season’s exam, someone filed a complaint against him with the Ministry of Justice.

Receiving the investigator’s interview notice, Wu Chenghe was surprised and didn’t know what to say. The person who sued him turned out to be Miss Lancer!

Was she out of her mind? What did I do to her? The exam is coming up, how big of a grudge does she hold? Wu Chenghe looked at the contents of the notification, feeling like he wanted to open her brain and see what she was worried about all day long—she actually complained about him damaging their nursing class’s suture assignment when he was locked in the laboratory! Okay, it was his fault, but this matter had passed for so long, Mu had already said what he had to say, he had already retaken the exam, the teacher hadn’t said anything, why is she bothering with this now? What a gravedigger!

Wu Chenghe had no choice but to explain to the investigator once again that he didn’t know it was the suture exam assignment at the time. He had dismantled and re-sewn those failing stitches out of a desire to help. The investigation team was actually quite speechless. Aston University had always been disciplined and well-managed, with very few cases of students complaining about teachers. Since the arrival of the Voyager Army cadets, there had been two complaints about the same issue. It was quite a headache for them.

Fortunately, this matter was relatively minor and was quickly clarified. The investigation team did not take direct action against anyone involved, only recommending that Mu handle it internally to appease Miss Lancer’s grievances.

After nearly half a semester, being reported to the school’s legal department twice by students was unprecedented in Mu’s career. After the investigation team left, the dean exploded and summoned all the students for a meeting.

During the meeting, his face turned so dark it seemed like it might rain. For the first time, he wasted three hours reading the department’s regulations to everyone. Finally, in the silence of the crowd, he swept his gaze across the room and said, “Thank you all for your supervision and encouragement. I have realized my mistake, which is being too kind to you all in the past! From today onwards, I will strictly enforce all the regulations of the college, ensuring everyone is completely satisfied with our living environment!”

Although they were inside the auditorium, everyone felt the chill of winter. Thinking about the days ahead being quite difficult, all eyes turned to Miss Lancer, who was causing trouble from afar. They wished that the Voyager Army would quickly take back this troublesome person and never let them out to harm others again.

But as the princess of the Second Army, Miss Lancer didn’t think she had done anything wrong. She didn’t care whether others had good days or bad days. As long as Wu Chenghe was miserable, she felt extremely satisfied.

Of course, Wu Chenghe had to be miserable. After all, the investigation team had instructed Mu to punish him. So when Mu notified him to go to his office after the meeting, he was not surprised at all and prepared himself for the punishment.

However, Mu’s punishment surprised him greatly.

“Starting today, you will be responsible for supervising the cleanliness of the entire experimental center.” Mu’s face was cold as he handed Wu Chenghe a level one access authorization for the experimental center. “Tomorrow, go find the administrator. Let him teach you how to use the smart cleaning machine and show you around.”

Wu Chenghe was knocked out by this sudden happiness—a level one access authorization meant that from now on, he could freely enter and exit the experimental center. Unless the school specifically restricted access, he could enter all the labs at any time!

And he was in charge of cleaning, which meant he had the right to collect and use all the waste in the labs, such as half-dissected bodies, sickly mice, wrongly sewn skins, and patient (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) simulators in need of repair…

Was this punishment? This was basically giving him a sweet deal! And he heard that Mu was a solitary person, nearing fifty and still a loner. So he spent most holidays in the lab. When he met students who needed extra classes, he often couldn’t resist giving them some pointers!

Wu Chenghe was so excited that tears filled his eyes. He couldn’t understand why Mu was treating him so well. Was he really so outstanding that Mu couldn’t resist him anymore (hey!)?

“What are you looking at? Why are you staring at me like that?” Mu noticed his silly expression, frowned displeased, “Do you think this is a good job? Foolish! Exams are coming soon, you’d better give me your full attention. If there’s a speck of dust in the lab, I’ll deduct your credits immediately. If you fail to get enough credits by the end of the semester, you’re out. Go home and complain to Hannibal!”

“…Understood.” Wu Chenghe was already used to his kind-hearted but stern demeanor, earnestly saying, “I will work hard and not let you down.”

“Who said I have any expectations for you? Don’t be conceited. Do you think you’re something special?” Mu sneered, “Is the Voyager Army’s influence too great? Why do all of you have such twisted minds? You’re either brain-dead or stupid… Get out, you make me angry just looking at you!”

Wu Chenghe gratefully rolled out.

During their weekend date, Wu Chenghe told Jin Xuan about the punishment. Jin Xuan looked at him in surprise, “Do you really have to be so saintly? He’s just making you clean up, right? Why are you so grateful?”

“You don’t understand, this is not punishment at all, it’s a privilege!” Wu Chenghe explained in detail to him, saying, “Such opportunities are something ordinary people can’t even beg for. Just let the intelligent cleaning machines do the cleaning, and I just need to check afterwards. The rest of the time I can freely use various laboratories. Those half-used corpses, sickly white mice, and broken equipment, all belong to me for disposal! And he gave me first-level authorization, so I can even do experiments on weekends. Speaking of which, I really should thank Miss Lancer. Although she always sets traps for me, the results of each trap are quite surprising.”

“Indeed, she is simply a self-sacrificing little angel. If I have the chance, I must write a thank-you letter to her.” Jin Xuan somewhat acknowledges the contribution Miss Lancer made to their relationship development, especially since Wu Chenghe could leave Hannibal, Miss Lancer’s contributions were immense. However, Jin Xuan felt a bit wary about Director Mu, “Something’s not right. Why is Director Mu being so good to you?”

“I don’t know,” Wu Chenghe shrugged, “He’s a strange person. He’s never been kind to me, but always takes care of me academically. Every time he assigns me homework, he adds extra questions, especially difficult ones, but once I solve them, my improvement is significant.”

“Wait, would he have any designs on you?” The light bulb on Jin Xuan’s head suddenly lit up, and he said vigilantly, “Some perverted teachers love to covet you fresh meat young men…I’m not talking about me, I wasn’t a teacher when I coveted you, and I’m not a pervert.”

You’re scarier than a pervert, you’re a killjoy. Wu Chenghe looked at his batshirt woven with strips of cloth and his head full of tiny braids in crushed diamonds and said that the scariest teacher in all of Aston was right here. Luckily, this demon had already been subdued by him with a knot of true love, and would not go out to plague the earth.

“Don’t give me that nonsense, Mu’s the dean, he’s almost fifty, and he’s a celibate like your brother!”

“Ghosts believe in celibacy, it’s just that they haven’t met the right person, Jin Zhe, that’s totally self-deluding, I can see that!” Jin Xuan snickered, “And fifty isn’t that old, it’s the old house that’s on fire that’s scary, you can’t stop it from burning!”

“You stop, he definitely doesn’t mean that to me, I’m sure.” Wu Chenghe really wanted to smack him, but held back and thought, “Do you think I look like his ex-boyfriend or something?”

“No way! No one can be as cute as you!” Jin Xuan immediately objected.

Wu Chenghe was now used to this kind of magical ass from him and said, “That would mean that I’m really talented and he just admires me too much.”

Jin Xuan rubbed his chin, “Hmm, it’s possible.” After a moment, feeling increasingly uneasy, he said, “No, I have to check his background. He just seems too eccentric.”

As a super hacker, Jin Xuan’s brutal steps couldn’t be stopped by ordinary databases. That very night, he infiltrated the Federal ID Management Center and retrieved all the data on Mu from birth to present.

The data revealed that Mu was an orphan, abandoned at the hospital entrance due to severe genetic defects at birth, with malformed heart and lungs. Doctors believed he wouldn’t survive, but miraculously, he did. Surprised by his survival, doctors used him as a research subject. When the project was canceled due to funding issues at the age of three, he was sent to an orphanage.

The conditions at the orphanage were limited, and everyone thought he wouldn’t live past five. However, his luck was extraordinary, and he survived year after year, until he reached thirteen, old enough for transplant surgery.

Later on, he received artificial organ transplants funded by a charity. Enduring chronic illness and pain, he aspired to become a doctor. He worked his way from a welfare school to Aston University, obtaining a master’s, then a Ph.D., becoming a doctoral supervisor, and eventually a federal-level researcher. At forty, he rose to fame in the industry, and his alma mater, Aston University Medical School, appointed him as dean. He served for almost a decade, until now.

At forty-nine, just as Wu Chenghe mentioned, he was a loner, having never been in a relationship in his forty-nine years, with no history of boyfriends or girlfriends.

After reading his official resume, Jin Xuan couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss. Mu’s life seemed too legendary, yet his resume was so ordinary. Moreover, there seemed to be traces of splicing in his resume, especially during the period from birth to transplant surgery, where many fields in the database appeared to have been tampered with.

Could there be some dark secret hidden within him? Frowning in thought, Jin Xuan wondered where to find more information. As he scrolled through attachments, his attention was suddenly drawn to a form—Mu had actually applied for artificial insemination!

His gender was listed as male, capable of reproduction, so he applied for artificial insemination five years ago, wanting to have a child. However, due to his excessively high and bizarre requirements for donors, he still hadn’t found suitable sperm.

Jin Xuan was curious about his requirements, so he opened the form and was immediately overwhelmed. This man probably had a severe case of OCD; the list was incredibly detailed, ranging from height to skin color, from ethnicity to genes, even specifying the shape of toenails.

Anyone who could meet his requirements would be a miracle. Jin Xuan couldn’t help but chuckle silently, thinking he deserved to remain childless with such stringent demands!

Wait a minute… A strange thought suddenly popped into his mind: it seemed like there was actually one person who matched his requirements—Jin Zhe.

Jin Xuan was stunned by his own idea, shivering involuntarily. He couldn’t imagine what kind of monster would result from the combination of a paranoid man and an old lecher. It was too terrifying!

Bet taking the kids of Voyager’s elite is being regretted. Spoilt, self-serving, entitled, and devoid of empathy.
WC not trusting the Balon twins is good, though a shame they can’t build bridges.
Mu’s had a tough life. I wonder if the records tampering that JX suspects, has to do with fathering a child for Hannibal to use in the future, with Charlie’s mother, Wu Xi’s, cooperation. Maybe its success had been hidden from Hannibal, by a change of heart & to keep WC.
