Ā
“Maybe he likes underage boys,” Yin Bo recklessly finished his sentence, then winked mischievously at Wu Chenghe.
Chang Gong wanted to rush over and cover his mouth, but it was too late. Before Jin Xuan could say anything, his lion had already roared and pounced toward the bar, aggressively flipping over the black panther who was lounging there and grooming its whiskers.
The black panther had foreseen its fate as soon as Yin Bo uttered his last words. Trying to avoid the lion’s attack, it didn’t have time and could only brace itself, enduring the blow. After Jin Xuan’s Barbary lion vented its anger, the panther grumpily climbed back up, muttered a low growl, then retreated to the corner to resume grooming its whiskers, shooting its owner a resentful glance.
“Hey, didn’t I say it before? Why come at me? Why bully my panther? It’s been feeling down lately because of its estrus!” Yin Bo also got angry, shouting at Jin Xuan, “Call me ‘Sweetheart’ when you need me, and then let the lion bite me? Do we still have any real feelings left? Were all those sweet words before just lies?!”
Wu Chenghe was in the middle of drinking tea when he “pfft” sprayed it out, choking and coughing, hastily wiping the table, “Ahem! I’m sorry, I… cough, I didn’t mean to.”Ā
This ‘Sweetheart’ thing was way too explosive!
Jin Xuan had a pitiful expression on his face. He wanted to explain to Wu Chenghe but felt embarrassed with everyone present. After a moment of hesitation, he gritted his teeth, pointed at Yin Bo, and said to Chang Gong, “Get him out of here, I don’t want to see him!”
“Don’t be like that,” Chang Gong, enjoying the spectacle, laughed and said, “He just has a big mouth, it’s not intentional, ha.”
Qian Hua chimed in, “Yeah, it’s his estrus, hormonal imbalance makes him talk nonsense.” Then she turned to Wu Chenghe, “Gu Wen, you’re not bothered, are you?”
Wu Chenghe shook his head, of course not. Jin Xuan glanced at him, feeling slightly relieved, then used telepathy to explain, [He’s talking nonsense. We only pretended to be a couple once, and I never called him ‘Sweetheart’!]
Wu Chenghe replied: [Hehe…]
Initially worried that Wu Chenghe might be angry, Jin Xuan felt somewhat reassured seeing his calm demeanor. But then he thought again, feeling a bit unsatisfied that Wu Chenghe didn’t seem to mind at all, as if he didn’t care about him. So, he scanned his three subordinates with a displeased look, feeling discontented. He said expressionlessly, “Alright, I’ll cook tonight.”
Before he could finish his sentence, Chang Gong suddenly sprang up as if electrocuted. He grabbed Yin Bo around the waist and swiftly shoved him into the dormitory, locking the door behind him. Then he sat back down as if nothing had happened, “Okay, he’s out. Let’s not mention dinner again. So, where were we? Let’s continue.”
Wu Chenghe turned to Qian Hua, puzzled by the situation. Seeing her troubled expression, he asked, “What’s wrong? Jin Xuan’s cooking is delicious, aren’t you used to it?”
“Are you being sarcastic, Gu Wen?” Qian Hua looked at him stiffly, saying, “Or are you eating different food from us, from another dimension?”
Chang Gong’s forehead was completely covered in shadows now, “Hehe… Gu We, you have quite the taste.”
Wu Chenghe was puzzled. He looked at Jin Xuan for an explanation, but Jin Xuan didn’t pick up the cue. He cleared his throat and said, “Letās continue… According to the people selected by Yin Bo, we will go through them in two months and then finalize our next plan. As for the Tartaros planet, regardless of whether Admiral Darwin’s aide is there, we need to find a way to go in and investigate.”
“Oh? Any new updates?” Chang Gong asked.
Jin Xuan replied, “In Admiral Darwin’s case, the trigger was the Black Pearl incident, and in the Black Pearl incident, the mercenary group’s target was a box of drugs from the Saint Martin Research Center. Two months ago, Saint Martin handed over the drug formula and samples to the NTU. After verification, it was confirmed to be a batch of embryonic interference agents, which significantly increase the probability of guide births. However, these drugs have just come out of the laboratory and have not undergone any human trials.”
“Oh,” Chang Gong realized, his brows furrowing tightly, “They want these drugs, they must want to continue their experiments.”
“Exactly,” Jin Xuan nodded. “Without considerable scientific research capabilities, such drugs cannot be developed. So, there’s suspicion that Admiral Darwin, or rather his mastermind, has a large-scale research institution somewhere that can handle initial research, human trials, and even clinical experiments. We must identify this place within the next few months.”
“Have any clues been found at Admiral Darwin’s headquarters?” Qian Hua asked. “We can’t confirm yet that his mastermind is General Lancer. If we rush into investigating Tartaros, we might miss the mark.”
“The military has thoroughly searched Admiral Darwin’s headquarters and found no research institutions,” Jin Xuan said. “Within the Voyager Army, there are only a few people who could command Admiral Darwin. Although General Lancer hasn’t had direct contact with him for almost a decade, as his indirect superior, he’s undoubtedly the prime suspect. So, I believe targeting General Lancer is the right move, and we won’t be wrong.”
“I agree with that inference. Darwin was groomed by Lancer from the beginning. It’s suspicious that Lancer hasn’t promoted him for a minor offense in ten years. If the mastermind behind this is Lancer, then the person managing this research institution must be his most trusted subordinate. Looking at the entire Second Group Army, Tartaros is the most likely legion that can accommodate a research institution belonging to Lancer’s direct lineage,” Chang Gong explained.
“Yes,” Jin Xuan continued, “His eldest son, Kevin Lancer, was once the most promising newcomer in the Voyager Army. However, he’s been stationed at the third arm for over a decade, and even set up a supply station on a remote planet like Tartaros… General Lancer isn’t the type to keep a low profile. The only reason he’s holding back Kevin, not grooming him as his successor, can only mean one thingāhe wants to give him a much greater future than being a General!”
“A future greater than being a General…” Qian Hua pondered. “Apart from a Commander, it would be the President.”
Wu Chenghe, who hadn’t spoken, shook his head, “No, if General Lancer wanted Kevin to be a Commander or President, he would have promoted him with outstanding military achievements, instead of hiding his abilities and keeping him out of sight of the Federation government.”
“Yes, so his goal is even greater than being a Commander or Generalāhe wants to split the Federation and make Kevin an emperor,” Jin Xuan concluded.
There was a heavy silence, and the expressions of Chang Gong and Qian Hua turned serious. Wu Chenghe and Jin Xuan exchanged glances, then all eyes turned to the holographic star map, where Tartaros looked like a sandy-colored bead slowly rotating in the image.
After a while, Yin Bo’s black panther strolled out of the dormitory, avoiding the Barbary lion and curling up in a corner, softly growling a few times, then continued grooming its majestic whiskers. At the same time, the star map flashed, and Yin Bo’s virtual avatar emerged with Tartaros in the background. He said seriously, “Chong is right!” Then he smiled obsequiously at Jin Xuan, “Sweetie, I’m on your side now. Can you let me out?”
Wu Chenghe burst out laughing again, holding his tea cup. Jin Xuan was speechless, turning to look at the black panther. Chang Gong immediately restrained his hand, “Alright, don’t be angry. You know Yin Bo’s bad temper, always saying things randomly.”
Jin Xuan snorted but didn’t say anything, making a gesture to Qian Hua. With a playful smile, Qian Hua ran to open the door for Yin Bo. The flamboyant blond man strolled out like his black panther, this time refraining from teasing Wu Chenghe. He sat down on a chair far from him, petting Qian Hua’s quantum beastāa cinnamon-colored red wolfāand muttered, “I wasn’t joking earlier. I really agree with him.”
Jin Xuan couldn’t be bothered with him. He said, “But I’ve said it before, the people on Tartaros are difficult to deal with. Major Kevin has turned that place into an impenetrable fortress. Getting a pass there is harder than ascending to heaven.”
“So we must get close to that quartermaster tomorrow,” Chang Gong nudged Yin Bo’s thigh with his toe. “Be clever, kid. If you notice he’s into you, subtly hint to him that you’re actually a woman.”
“Screw you,” Yin Bo kicked him. “It’s too hard to pretend to be a woman. I’m too old for that, not like Gu Wen… Oh, don’t we have a woman? Qian Hua, aren’t you coming with me?”
“I’ll go with you,” Jin Xuan suddenly spoke up.
Yin Bo was taken aback. “Huh? Are you going to pretend to be a woman? That’s not a good idea. With your size, stuffing your chest would be terrifying. Even cross-dressing would make you look too muscular!”
“Don’t push your work onto me. Regardless of whether that quartermaster prefers men or women, you’ll have to handle him!” Jin Xuan knocked on the table. “Tell him your boss, me, wants to open an arena on Tartaros. If he’s willing to help me, I’ll give him ten percent of the profits.”Ā
As the head of the task force, Jin Xuan’s cover identity at the doorstep was a shareholder of the arena, a second-generation tycoon from Planet Dunkirk.
Yin Bo sneered, “Playing the long game, huh? Well, since Tartaros is our current focus, it’s good to be prepared. If that quartermaster is interested in ten percent, he might be willing to take us there for a look.”
āExactly my thoughts,ā Jin Xuan said. āWe’ll establish a relationship with him first, find an opportunity to sneak in under the guise of a site inspection, and scout out the situation.ā
“I agree,” Chang Gong nodded. “Leave Heaven’s Peak to me and Qian Hua. We’ll try to investigate the others before you return.”
Yin Bo pointed at Wu Chenghe, “Is Gu Wen with us?”
“It’s you who’s with us,” Jin Xuan said. “I’ve already set it up so that Gu Wen and I are a couple, so we won’t be separated.”
“Alright,” Yin Bo shrugged. “The more, the merrier. Maybe that quartermaster likes a foursome…”
Jin Xuan facepalmed, and the Barbary lion roared again, but this time, the black panther was prepared. As soon as Yin Bo mentioned “foursome,” it leaped from the wall like a black lightning bolt and disappeared into the distance.
The Barbary lion missed its target, roaring furiously. Jin Xuan suppressed it with telekinesis, dragging it back to his side and stroking its fur. Yin Bo rubbed his chin, looking in the direction where the black panther disappeared. “See, that’s the speed of a panther. Who dares say I’m slow?”
Chang Gong couldn’t contain his frustration and punched him. “Can’t you be a bit more sensible? Even quantum beasts are smarter than you. You’re just a dumb bimbo with big boobs!”
Qian Hua called her red wolf back, petting its head. “Stay away from Yin Bo, he might lower your IQ.” The red wolf rolled its eyes coquettishly, turned its back to Yin Bo, and snuggled up to its owner, giving him a disdainful side-eye.
“Tsk!” Yin Bo clicked his tongue. “You guys are so boring. How could you not understand the appeal of a foursome? It’s a high-end commodity.” He glanced at the only friendly face, Wu Chenghe. “Gu Wen, you agree, right?” Without waiting for Wu Chenghe’s response, he waved his hand. “Nevermind, you’re still underage, so you don’t need to be involved in this adult topic.”
Wu Chenghe, tired of being treated like a minor, held his teacup and said helplessly, “Actually, I’m of legal age. My son just turned a month old.”
Pfft, pfft, pfft! Yin Bo, Qian Hua, and Chang Gong burst out laughing one after another, staring at Wu Chenghe in disbelief, then simultaneously turned their gaze to Jin Xuan.
“…he’s joking,” Jin Xuan glared at Wu Chenghe and dragged him up from the couch with telekinetic force. He whispered, “Shut up!” Then he pulled him by the collar toward the dormitory, sending a telepathic message: [Shut up!]. āIt’s late, go rest in the dormitory. Look over the action plan, and I’ll make something for you to eat.ā
After Wu Chenghe left, having planted a satellite, he realized he might have crossed a line with everyone. He backed away toward the dormitory, smiling awkwardly at Chang Gong and the others. “Heh heh…” Unfortunately, he forgot that he was now wearing a haughty queen’s face, so his attempt at being cute turned sarcastic, leaving the others with puzzled looks.
Jin Xuan was exasperated. āCan you please stop with the ‘heh heh’ already?ā The switch from cute to sarcastic was just unacceptable, scratching his head in frustration!
Qian Hua watched as the young couple disappeared at the end of the corridor, her lips twitching. “Is he really joking?”Ā
Yin Bo shuddered. “So cold.”
Chang Gong nodded in agreement. “Indeed, very cold.”
In the dormitory, Wu Chenghe looked over some documents until Jin Xuan’s lion came to call him for dinner. He walked into the dining area to find everyone sitting on either side of the bar, their eyes glazed over, faces pale, all looking like they were about to face execution.
On the bar were eight cold dishes and eight hot dishes, along with a pot of green soup. Wu Chenghe’s stomach growled just looking at the vibrant colors. He took a seat next to Qian Hua, puzzled. “Why are you all making that face? Jin Xuan’s cooking is delicious.”
The three of them turned to him in unison, then quickly looked away, all saying, “Heh heh.”
Jin Xuan emerged from the kitchen, sleeves rolled up, revealing his muscular forearms as he placed a pot of rice on the bar. Sitting beside Wu Chenghe, he said, “You can start eating now.”
Hungry as he was, Wu Chenghe picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork with his chopsticks, about to put it in his mouth. But seeing that no one else was moving, he paused and asked, “What’s wrong? Why isn’t anyone eating?”
“Just eat, just eat,” Chang Gong said, sounding like he was facing death. Gritting his teeth, he picked up a piece of stir-fried meat, stuffed it into his mouth without chewing, and swallowed it with a stiff neck.
Qian Hua reluctantly picked up a small handful of sautĆ©ed vegetables, bravely put it in her mouth, and then… her eyes suddenly lit up. She screamed, “This is impossible!”
Startled by her sudden outburst, Wu Chenghe, still holding the pork, mumbled, “What’s wrong?”
“How can this be so delicious!” Yin Bo finished a spoonful of soup and immediately burst into tears. “It shouldn’t be like this, it wasn’t like this before! Sugar, sugar, you’ve been fooling me for months!”
Chang Gong also started yelling, and the three of them went on and on, until Wu Chenghe finally understood what was going on: Jin Xuan used to join them on missions, but due to his unstable mental state, he often experienced manic episodes. After taking balance agents, he developed a fondness for cooking but never ate the food himself. Instead, he would set the table with food, pour drinks, arrange the dishes, and then pour everything away as if he were having a nervous breakdown.
Seeing how anxious he was, Qian Hua sent the more cheerful Yin Bo to comfort him. But Yin Bo, being clueless, simply sat opposite him, intending to eat. Jin Xuan immediately flew into a rage, threw away all the food, and even wanted to beat Yin Bo, but was restrained by Qian Hua and Chang Gong.
Yin Bo accused him of wasting food and being crazy, which made Jin Xuan’s face ugly to behold. Grinding his teeth, he smirked and said, “Fine, this time doesn’t count. Next time, I’ll cook for you!”Ā
After that incident, whenever Jin Xuan was in a bad mood, he would cook a table full of food for Yin Bo, and he would sit beside him, watching him eat. He had to finish everything, not leaving a single bite.Ā
The problem was, his cooking was terribleātoo salty, too spicy. Yin Bo would be full for a lifetime after eating one meal, and if he ate too much, he couldn’t even go on missions afterwardābecause his stomach would hurt too much, of course!
Out of curiosity, Chang Gong and Qian Hua tried his cooking once, and immediately lit countless candles for Yin Bo. From then on, whenever Jin Xuan said he would cook for everyone, they would all panic.
Listening to their chaotic conversation, Wu Chenghe first found it amusing, but then felt bitter. Thinking of Jin Xuan pursuing enemies far away from him, restraining his manic episodes with medication, and even cooking just to pretend to eat with him… he felt overwhelmingly sad. He discreetly reached under the bar and squeezed Jin Xuan’s fingertips to comfort him. After a pause, he conveyed through telepathy: [He didn’t mean it, you shouldn’t tease him like that.]
Jin Xuan’s face turned slightly red, whether from being squeezed or feeling guilty about his friends. When everyone finished their complaints, he coughed and said, “Stop making a fuss, didn’t we make up for it today? Should I set up a new table?”
There was a brief silence, and Chang Gong and Qian Hua reluctantly quieted down, leaving only Yin Bo still whimpering.
After dinner, they cleaned up the mess and discussed details before returning to their dormitories to rest. Jin Xuan hugged Wu Chenghe, resting his chin on his head and playfully counting his toes with his.
“Did you really serve Yin Bo such dark cuisine? Is it worse than what I cook?” Wu Chenghe asked, resting on his shoulder.
Jin Xuan paused awkwardly. “At that time, my mind wasn’t right, and I was suppressing my manic episodes. I always wanted to retaliate against society… but who told him to mess with the food I prepared for you.”
Wu Chenghe sweatdropped. “I didn’t die, why did you set food for me? As an offering?”
“I missed you too much, kept having hallucinations, and just wanted to do something to comfort myself.” Jin Xuan leaned down and kissed him, teasingly saying, “What? Feeling sorry for Yin Bo? No way! You can only feel sorry for me!”
He then proceeded to “punish” him in various ways until Wu Chenghe’s face turned red, and he begged for mercy, at which point he gently took care of him. Wu Chenghe didnāt know whether to cry or laugh at his jealousy over something like this. It was truly maddening!
The next day, everyone stayed at home all day, studying materials and familiarizing themselves with firearms. In the evening, Qian Hua began to apply makeup to Yin Bo. Wu Chenghe, out of curiosity, stood by and watched. He watched as Qian Hua applied layer after layer of makeup on Yin Bo’s face, and after an hour, Yin Bo turned into a stunning male fox spirit.
Even Wu Chenghe, who wasn’t particularly into men, couldn’t help but stareāhe had to admit, made up, Yin Bo was incredibly beautiful, captivating. His enchanting fox eyes, upturned nose, pale pink lips, coupled with his slender and lean figure, graceful waistline…
“Oh, Chong!” Yin Bo suddenly called out to Wu Chenghe behind him.Ā
Startled, Wu Chenghe quickly looked away, pretending to look at Qian Hua. After a while, realizing that no one was coming from behind, he knew Yin Bo was just messing with him. Annoyed, he said, “What are you doing!”
“Just scaring you,” Yin Bo chuckled. “Isn’t your brother beautiful? Look, your mouth is watering, hahaha… Charmer, isn’t he? Didn’t I satisfy you last night?” With a teasing sway of his hips, Yin Bo sang a sultry tune and returned to the dormitory to change clothes, leaving Wu Chenghe feeling both awkward and embarrassed, a mess in the wind.
At eleven o’clock in standard time, Yin Bo left the bastion alone. An hour later, Jin Xuan received a message from him and said to Wu Chenghe, “Let’s go.”
It was Wu Chenghe’s first mission, and he was feeling a bit nervous. He changed into slightly disheveled clothes with Jin Xuan and headed to the neighboring casino.
At midnight, when the atmosphere in the casino was heating up, the hall was crowded with people, mostly soldiers from the Voyager Army, with a few officers among them. Regardless of rank, everyone was like brothers, gambling away their wealth and shouting excitedly at the gaming tables.
In addition to the dealers and gamblers, there were many involved in the flesh trade mingling in the crowd. Jin Xuan wrapped his arm around Wu Chenghe’s neck as they made their way through the crowd, being approached by many women in heavy makeup, occasionally even men giving him flirtatious looks. But he paid them no mind, patiently searching for Yin Bo’s whereabouts.
“He’s upstairs,” Wu Chenghe, whose telepathy was slightly stronger, quickly found Yin Bo’s black panther through filtered thoughts and pointed to a corner on the second floor. “He’s over there, next to a brown bear sentinel.”
“Let’s go up and take a look.”
The two of them ascended the wooden stairs to the second floor and indeed saw Yin Bo sitting on the lap of a man at the bar corner. He was fluttering his eyelashes at the man, who seemed to be their target for this mission. The man was very tall, with solid chest muscles, shoulders half again as wide as Yin Bo’s, and arms thicker than Wu Chenghe’s thighs. He seemed to be very fond of Yin Bo, grabbing chips from the bar and stuffing them into Yin Bo’s lace shirt, pinching his chest while doing so. Yin Bo had a blush on his cheek, lips slightly parted as if in pain, inhaling sharply, then angrily slapped the man across the face, making a loud sound.
But the man wasn’t angry. He laughed heartily, kissed Yin Bo’s face, and then grabbed chips again, stuffing them into Yin Bo’s underwear.
Wu Chenghe’s face turned red just from watching, secretly sighing that being a secret agent wasn’t easy. Seduction like this was impossible without a strong mentality. Even he, if he were threatened with Jin Xuan’s life, probably wouldn’t be able to sit in another man’s lap and laugh. If it were Jin Xuan, the fight would probably have started already…
Yin Bo was indeed a man among men!
