Chapter 53: A God’s Marriage (24)
Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations
Editor: GaeaTiamat
The next morning, Sa’gya was still asleep, and Yun Chi was not sure if he was asleep or smothered in shyness.
But what the hell. Yun Chi shrugged his shoulders. Heâd somehow broken open. Anyway, my words have been released, the water can not be pulled back, eh heh.
He lifted Sa’gya’s waterfall of white hair, crawled out as usual, washed as usual, looked up at himself in the ice mirror as usual, andâŠ
And so on.
As he wiped the water droplets off his face, he carefully tilted his head and pulled his ears. What is this?
–In the ice mirror, a long golden mark was uniformly placed. In the earlobe and the auricle marked a circle, and that gold color didnât look like it was simply painted on, it was like the refraction of light on a stream, as it gave off a jumping, flowing glow.
The corners of Yun Chi’s mouth twitched.
“Sa’gya,” he called out. “Don’t sleep, hurry up.”
Half silent, Yun Chi drew up his voice. “Sa’gya quick! Don’t pretend to sleep, I know you’re awake!”
After he waited for a while, a panting, the slightly red cheeked and averted gaze of the divine Lord passed by.
“…What’s wrong?” he whispered, obviously not quite daring to look at Yun Chi yet.
“Here.” Yun Chi came over. He wanted to stand on tiptoe to let Sa’gya see more clearly, but the other party was too tall, and no amount of tiptoe would help, so Yun Chi had to tap on his shoulder. “Bend down, or you canât see.”
Sa’gya obediently bent down, Yun Chi grabbed his own ear to show him, “Here, this gold. See? What is this?”
Sa’gya frowned. His eyes became grave. He carefully pinched Yun Chi’s earlobe, pondered for a while. He suddenly thought it was the location where he had ground his teeth yesterday morning, and immediately let go with his hand as if he had been burned, while his face became even redder.
“This, this canât be me⊔ Sa’gya’s tongue seemed to be in a knot. “Can it be myâŠteeth marksâŠ?”
Yun Chi froze.
Teeth marks? Could it be that a god’s teeth still have that function? A bite can actually leave a tattoo-like mark?
He saw Sa’gya’s smoldering look, then Yun Chi coughed twice and couldn’t say anything else.
“Forget it,” he whispered. “It’s not a big deal anyway. It’s not ugly, so tooth marks are just tooth marks⊔
The two of them were sitting at the table, each with something on his mind. Yun Chi thought, If we’ve said we like each other, what should we do next?
At such a stage of the confession, the average couple would just flirt, make out, and get involved in each other’s lives. When the two sides had almost gotten along, they would start to consider entering the marriage hall, never distinguishing between you and me, their care, living together in a houseâŠ
The problem here was that when Sa’gya was still a big sea otter, they were already too close to each other; eating together, playing together, and sleeping together at night when it was time to sleep.
After Sa’gya turned into a human form, the way they got along still didn’t change much. Even couples in the mundane world might not be as sticky as they were.
That meant that the way they got along was the way it was before they shared their hearts, and the way it was after they shared their hearts. Their old married life wouldnât change just because of the change in relationship.
“Sa’gya⊔
“Yun Chi⊔
They both spoke and paused at the same time.
“You speak first⊔
“Go ahead.”
Sa’gya looked and said in a deep voice, “What do you think about that world of yours?”
Yun Chi blinked and listened as he said, “I know that your planet must be more prosperous and advanced than Kaleva, which was formed only a short time after the opening of the sky, and besides, it is the place where you were born and raised. If you still want to go back, I thought⊔
“A person without a home is like a rootless duckling who can go anywhere as he pleases,” Yun Chi interrupted his words. “To me, home is not just a house, a shelter. The most important thing about home is the people I look forward to. With this person, the house can be called a home.”
“My home is here now,” Yun Chi said, taking a sip of hot porridge. “Other places, they really have no meaning.”
Sa’gya looked deeply at him and was silent for a long time. He lowered his voice to hide his hoarseness and said, “IâŠI’m very happy that you said that. Yes, very happy.”
“So we’re a couple that likes each other?” Yun Chi scratched his hair. “I’m not sure what to do at all. You know what?”
“You haven’t had similar emotional experiences before?” Sa’gya was a little curious. Since the average lifespan of the Kaleva people was only sixty years, usually they would be engaged at the age of fifteen and married at sixteen. Putting aside the physical age, Yun Chi was already twenty-three years old. Hadn’t he ever liked someone else?
Yun Chi smiled to herself. “I havenât. My grandmotherâŠAfter she died, I was so disillusioned that I stopped going to school and started running around the world with my backpack. That’s why my parents left me so much money, so they could let me do what I did. The first two years were muddled. I didnât know anything and blindly wandered around. In fact, I just wanted to find something to do. I didnât meditate or think about the world, I lived like a lonely ghost. I was lying at the bottom, away from all the pests who intended to concentrate on sucking my blood.”
“Pests?”
“Those so-called relatives who had no connection with each other,” Yun Chi sneered. “Forget it. I have nothing to say about them. Anyway, with this line of work, I have left a will so if I die in an accident, all the property left will be donated to public welfare organizations. None of it will go to my relatives.”
Sa’gya looked at him pityingly and wanted to hug and kiss and rub, but was immediately blocked with a bowl of porridge in fear by Yun Chi. “What are you doing?”
Sa’gya said innocently, “You looked like you needed comfort⊔
“No making out during dinner!” Yun Chi turned red. “What’s the point of eating someone else’s mouth when you’re eating properly. No!”
“Oh.” Sa’gya was a little disappointed, but obediently didnât move again. He was planning to wait until after breakfast before kissing him.
The early morning hours were quiet and peaceful, and after the meal, Sa’gya changed back to his big sea otter form, and hugged Yun Chi on his fluffy belly, then lay on his back and floated on the surface of the sea to sunbathe.
The sun shone pleasantly, and warmed the human skin. Sa’gya suddenly said, “Let’s do it this way.”
Yun Chi, “Huh?”
Sa’gya said contemplatively, “I have never liked other gods, or another person, before you. In fact, the gods have destined wives, but the gods of the second generation, born from the same ocean floor, are more like brothers and sisters to me. I am the head of a large clan, I only need to protect them and guide them, no need to consider extra relationships⊔
“That’s all,” Sa’gya repeated again. “Since you and I don’t understand what to do in one step, let’s just go with the flow and take our time. Look, isn’t it a nice day to hang out here and soak up the sun?”
Yun Chi laughed.
“Yeah,” he agreed. “AnywayâŠthere’s plenty of time.”
.
The time on the island flew by, and before they knew it, it was time for a second contact with the land.
Sa’gya wasnât happy to reveal his human form to the outside world except to Yun Chi, so he was still transformed into a white sea otter as he carried Yun Chi to the boundary where the fog churned.
“Like last time, I’ll be back as soon as possible,” Yun Chi promised, as he hugged Sa’gya’s neck. “Then, we’ll have a fireplace to use!”
Sa’gya also hugged Yun Chi’s body, and rubbed his wet black nose on the gold mark on his earlobe.
Although it wasnât clear how that golden mark worked, Sa’gya’s was happy that the pup’s skin was left with his mark. This was a silent but powerful declaration that Yun Chi was, and could only be his.
“Yes, I will wait for you,” Sa’gya said. “If you need anything, just call my name.”
Yun Chi smiled, kissed the big sea otter’s hairy cheeks, waved again, and slowly walked into the endless fog.
When Yun Chi got on shore, he looked around and saw smoke rising from the dead branches of the forest in the distance.
Unlike last time, now there was a lot of smoke, not like the kind a number of travelers could light. Yun Chi brushed away the tree branches as he walked, then patted off the fallen snow on his body, as he soon arrived at his destination.
It was a small fishing village.
Yun Chi observed from behind the trees and couldn’t help but wince a little.
The fishing village was small in size, but at the doorway of every house there were sharp, rough, pitch-black harpoons. The old layers of fish blood on the fork handles added layers, and dried the winding cloths into a hard brownish-red color.
In case the fishermen here were as wary as the last travelers, the risk of being harpooned would be too greatâŠ
After he thought about it, Yun Chi decided to be careful. He spotted a path with his eyes, so he circled around and felt his way along the path to the junction.
Okay, that should be all right.
The sapphire was taken out of his pocket and Yan Yan was summoned again in the same way as last time.
The mud giant’s body slowly shrunk and coalesced into a tall human form, and Yan Yan, with a tiny smile on his face, said to Yun Chi, “You’reâŠback.”
There was a momentary stagnation in Yan Yan’s voice because the golden mark on Yun Chi’s earlobe was like a miniature sun rising in the eyes of the demon monster, dazzling beyond recognition.
The mark was filled with the divine breath of the sea of ice. If he stepped a little closer, Yan Yan seemed to be able to feel the God with a cold and merciless gaze, lingering on any creature that tried to get close to Yun Chi.
What the hell was that?
Having felt his stiffening gaze, Yun Chi hurriedly put the hair from behind his ear to cover the golden seal and smiled shyly. “Yes, I’m afraid I have to trouble you.”
With the seal covered, Yan Yan could breathe. He swallowed and whispered, “It’s an honor to serve you.”
“This time, if I want to buy a fireplace,” Yun Chi said. “You should know where to get one, right?”
Yan Yan nodded. “Yes, Lord. Not far from the city-state of Samar, there are excellent blacksmiths and⊔
Before he finished the sentence, a transparent shadow, riding on the invisible and colorless wind, descended in front of Yan Yan.
“Demon monster, I am the West Wind!” The shadow that distorted the form of all things, and was rooted in the breath of all things, issued a grand command to Yan Yan, “You will not go to Samar, because it is the territory of Roche, the God of Storms, quickly turn back!”
“Yan Yan?” Yun Chi gave him a curious look. “What happened? Why are you suddenly silent?”

I wonder if the mark on YC’s ear from Sa’gya is the stigmata referred to by Nali when they were in Astolfo.
Did Yan Yan not know that? Sounds like trouble đŹ
Thank you both for the chapter.
Oh no, I sense trouble is coming. This Roche doesn’t seem to be a good reasonable god. Wonder if YunChi will meet the god’s family again to explain what the mark is. So curious!
