Chapter 59: A God’s Marriage (30)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: GaeaTiamat

Yun Chi had a fire in his heart.

Like any ordinary person whose sleep had been disturbed, he grimly got up from the bed, his hair disheveled and sleepy, his face as black as ink, and went out with a knife to find that son of a bitch.

Sa’gya had been gone for three days. Why was there trouble at his door?

When it saw that he was awake, the little sea otter also rubbed its eyes, and crawled into his lap in a daze, and turned into a floppy ball, full of little grunts. Yun Chi scooped it up and coaxed it upside down, while he pondered absentmindedly.

In Kaleva, there were many beings who could cause hallucinations, but those who dared to do so on Sa’gya’s island were rare. Sa’gya had seen fish-tailed sirens with dogs wrapped around their waists, and had told him that the demons that grew in the shadows most often had the ability to cause trances, not to mention the elves that cultivated the fairy herbs who possessed the powers of the night and dreams…

But who did this?

Could it be the priest?

Though Sa’gya had said the odds were in his favor, if he threw caution to the wind and told the God about the mark on his ear while Roche was angry, it would end badly.

Yun Chi lay down.

In any case, it would not be a good idea to make a mess of things and risk running outside to be a live target. Calmness was needed. Countermeasures were needed. Plus, it was important to wait until Sa’gya came back to deal with this matter.

Yun Chi touched the little sea otter in his arms, propped up his eyelids, went to the kitchen and rummaged for spicy spices, then crushed them up. He applied them to the backs of his hands, and inhaled deeply whenever he was sleepy, then sneezed dizzily while he waited for the morning.

One thing needed to be verified.

Early in the morning when dawn broke, Yun Chi saw the sunrise through the window prongs. It resembled an unfolding brocade, as it slowly spread over the dome of the sky, then the sky was completely bright.

He inhaled, tiredly closed his eyes, and fell back to sleep.

After tossing and turning all night, at that moment, Yun Chi quickly sank into dreamland.

“…This unfilial son!” The old male voice was muddy like thunder, as it rumbled through Yun Chi’s mind. “How dare you disobey your father’s orders and ignore your mother’s cries of grief! Are the bones and blood we bestowed you all vain suffering? How dare you treat kinsmen and parents like this!”

“Come back quickly! Come back quickly!” The female voice also became shrill and piercing, “We…!”

However, she didn’t finish her words because Yun Chi had already woken up.

With an expressionless face, the teenager rolled over and jumped out of bed. He strode toward the cloakroom, with the garish, brilliant, gleaming clothes of his ancestors were all in sight, and leaned over to open another chest.

Inside was the spread of scimitar, spear, crossbow, dagger, single-edged sword, double curved sword; embedded with gold and bronze, the scabbards from the old time to wash away the old blood, and shining as they were just cast in that moment.

No matter how much time passed, how much it wore away at them, the sharpness of those swords never faded and they still retained the look of the Lord’s presence.

Yun Chi reached down and took out a dagger curved like moonlight, with a flame-like blade that Sa’gya had told him was a cherished favorite of the Wicked Lady.

He tugged the sheath loose, and placed it in his arms before he walked to the bed again and got undressed.

Yun Chi slept again.

“‘Traitorous son of no filial piety!” The male’s voice grew more and more violent, and howled in a voice like a bell. “With a sword in your arms, do you now want to slaughter your own birth parents? You shouldn’t have been born in the first place, you should…”

Dream Yun Chi really felt the dagger in his arms. He suddenly pulled on the hilt, wrapped in anger, and violently swung it, only to hear a slight cracking sound. The male’s wailing instantly disappeared, and his ears immediately went silent.

The feeling was very strange. He should have hit something, but it wasn’t like a solid, more like a pillow stuffed with down, and when the sharp knife hit hard it zapped an air leakage and it immediately flew away.

Yun Chi gripped the dagger, vigilantly listening to the surrounding silence in the dream.

Whether it was because he had rebelled against the dream world or because of the handheld weapon, Yun Chi was suddenly able to perceive things around him in his sleep. He was able to perceive the little sea otter’s tense belly on the pillow, and he was also able to perceive…

Yun Chi’s breathing lightened.

…He also heard the sound of a conversation coming from the sky.

“…How ruthless this one is!” A female voice accused another woefully. “I should have been told that the bride turned out to have this ability before I was requested. Look! My robe, my cuffs!”

The other laughed lowly, his voice thick, “How can anyone be worthy of being my bride if they don’t have some skill?”

Yun Chi was dumbfounded.

Who were these two again?

“I still feel it’s proper,” the first voice said anxiously. “Knowing that, according to the reading, we should be so close to the island, but it’s so surrounded by warnings, it sends chills down my body. It’s that–”

“That place of pseudo-self-exile. The lonely island the world forgot, I know.” The second voice laughed softly. “Afraid of cowards, Berthia? He has hidden the bride that belongs to me for so long and thinks I will take kindly to it?”

“I am indebted, Roche. The marriage I wish to adulterate.” The one named Berthia grunted coldly. “Now that the bride has the second generation’s ware in his hands and can take the evil blade. I’m close enough to do the same. What do you think you’re going to do about it?”

“Quite a favor. We must also approach, and force him out.” Roche said lazily. “He just needs to come out.”

Roche!

He really came to the door. How?

Yun Chi clenched his dagger, his heart in turmoil for a moment.

Who was that next to him…Berthia again…? Could it be the Dream Goddess? She had actually joined forces with him to capture him!

More importantly, if the Storm God was here, what about the West Wind? Sa’gya had left it behind. If there was any danger, wouldn’t the West Wind have come to warn him? Was it that West Wind was also in trouble?

At that moment, Yun Chi’s head was chaotic. Now that he thought about it, what he regretted the most was running to Samar and exposing that mark to Roche’s priest. At that time, that priest should have been made to not say the words ever again…

But as a member of the Rule of Law, how could I kill him?

So the consequence of laying hands on him was this. To cut off the roots and let something else…Others block the door of the house.

Roche finished answering the question and the sky was quiet, with no more sound of bright conversation. Yun Chi worried that they found out that he was eavesdropping on them. He thought for a moment, then let go of the dagger in his hand, and immediately disconnected from the dream world.

Rolling over, he sat up from the bed, his energy full from the slight nap.

According to Sa’gya’s instructions, it was time to go down to the sea, and the sea monsters gathered around would take care of his safety.

Should he go?

But according to the Roche party, they were expecting Yun Chi to walk out. Yun Chi was only a human after all, and knowing the upper limits of his power, where would it be safe to walk?

If he stayed in the Strange House, the power of the dream world couldn’t be resisted through physical protection. As long as Yun Chi had to close his eyes and needed to rely on sleep, he would be endlessly harassed by them, so even if he went down to the ocean, would he be able to get rid of them?

This was an insoluble problem. Right now, Yun Chi only hated that he did not have the means of clouds and fog, in order to pounce into the sky and go ruthlessly fend off those two.

Who was the bride, ah! You put gold on your own face!

He sat on the edge of the bed, and he and the little sea otter stared at each other for half a day.

“I can’t sit and wait for death.” Yun Chi exhaled with determination. “If I stay here, I’m really trapped, because I can’t sleep, I can’t lie down, and I can’t fight back…”

The little sea otter looked at him worriedly, and gave a shuddering “chii.”

“Let’s pack up,” Yun Chi said. “And head for Sa’gya’s temple. Our hands should still reach that far, really, and the sky will take me.”

So he put the dagger in his belt, wore the scarf Sa’gya had woven, took dry food and water, and put the little sea otter in his backpack. When he looked at the many weapons in the cloakroom, Yun Chi hesitated for a while, but still brought a small, lightweight sword.

He wanted to bring more weapons, but he hadn’t been professionally trained, so if he was robbed, it would be a bargain for the enemy.

They snuck out the back door of the Strange House, and as soon as they were outside, Yun Chi realized that something was wrong. Just last night, the island was covered in thick fog, but now the fog had thinned out too much. The surrounding sky was filled with jostling wind spirits, which clustered around the stubborn and unwilling fog, like termites devouring a dike, as they tore away the fog barrier layer by layer, bit by bit.

“Holy shit…” Yun Chi was dumbstruck. Then a giant shadow swept overhead. Yun Chi hurriedly crouched down to avoid it, and waited until the thing flew far away before he dared to raise his head to look at it from afar.

It was a huge green-black eagle, with wings that spread out to six meters, as it rode on the whistling wind, and cruised the island from above. Around it, there were seven or eight other similar smaller eagles that stared intently downwards.

–Sa’gya had said that those were Roche’s wind eagles, which had previously been released into the sky by Roche’s priests to ambush Yun Chi’s white boat, and nearly killed him at sea.

The sea of ice was boundless, with a lonely island floating in the middle. In Yun Chi’s eyes, this island was like a wounded beast, and the smell of blood from it attracted small pursuers, who wanted to devour it and swore to divide it up.

Damn it, what about the sea monsters underneath the island? Were they also in a deep sleep?

There had never been a moment when Yun Chi had felt the gap between the gods and the humans as clearly as he did now.

What should I do now?

Yun Chi’s head was blank.

Should I force myself to suffer at home and wait for Sa’gya, or should I break through the blockade, jump into the depths of the sea, and into an unknown fate?

Who does this Roche think he is?! Seems he already views himself outside any laws.
YC isn’t his offering any way; that soul died. Doesn’t that matter and, as Gods, can’t they tell?
YC’s in a big pickle. Hurry back Sa’gya🦦
Thank you both for the chapter.

Sa’gya hurry back! There’s a stupid god wants to claim your bride! I think the bride’s mark only appears if the god sincerely loves someone, marks the one he loves, then the loved one returns the feeling and admit it to the god. The gold mark only appears after the night Yun Chi told Sa’gya he likes him too. As the new gods only cares about themselves, how could they be able to love someone sincerely? Roche must be in the clouds thinking he can lives forever as “his bride” appeared.
