Extra 1: A Weekend
The afternoon sunlight filtered warmly through the window screen, casting a cozy glow into the room. Lin Su put his rinsing cup back in its place and squeezed toothpaste onto another electric toothbrush. In the bedroom, Shi Wenze was still asleep. The blanket had slipped halfway off onto the floor, and the edge of his sleepwear was rolled up, revealing a slender waist. Lin Su couldn’t resist and pounced back onto the bed, carefully studying the mighty big dinosaur.
Shi Wenze stirred awake, disturbed by the fuss. He grabbed Lin Su into his arms and pulled him close without opening his eyes, pressing a kiss to him. Half-asleep, he mumbled, “Be good. I’ll sleep a little longer.”
“It’s almost noon,” Lin Su said, gently tapping his cheek. “I told you we had a big cleaning day today. Get up, I’m not even tired!”
“Because you weren’t the one working hard last night.” Shi Wenze tightened his arms around him. “What do you want to eat?”
“There’s a new café downstairs,” Lin Su said. “Let’s go have brunch, then pick up some flowers for home.”
Shi Wenze was pulled out of bed against his will, his messy hair sticking up as he went to wash up.
A delivery guy arrived with several large boxes filled with various home goods they had ordered online. Though shopping together while cozy in bed was fun, looking at the crowded living room now stuffed with stuff, Lin Su longed to just pick up his suitcase and head back to his hometown.
But they hadn’t gone back yet. After Shi Wenze finished washing up, he took off his shirt and walked toward the wardrobe. The sunlight fell across him, making the scene look perfect from every angle—utterly captivating. Maybe tidying the house wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
In the café, an unfamiliar piano melody played softly. Lin Su handed the menu to Shi Wenze. “You order the cheese beef wrap with hummus.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to try a little.” Shi Wenze smiled and took his hand. When no one was watching, he leaned down and kissed him.
The flower shop was nearby, just a short walk away, and the owner of the adjacent fruit stand was already familiar with this handsome guy. She helped them pick the sweetest watermelon and threw in an extra bag of jujubes.
Lin Su’s cheeks puffed out with the sweet treats, but they didn’t seem to wake him up. The riverside sun still made him drowsy, and they wandered without direction.
Shi Wenze carried the shopping bag in one hand and scooped Lin Su up with the other. “If you don’t want to work, you can go home and sleep more. No need to keep closing your eyes and falling face-first into the river view.”
Lin Su gave a lazy “oh” and grabbed Shi Wenze’s collar. “Let’s go buy another coffee.”
They had been out for nearly an hour before finally wandering back home. Before they started cleaning, Lin Su said, “I think we should split it up over several days.”
Shi Wenze didn’t mind spreading it out. They’d both been pretty free lately, and he secretly thought his wife’s avoidance of chores made him the most lovable person in the world. Blinded by love, the handsome guy was totally without principles.
The first step of the big cleaning was organizing the closets. The “wool” clothes Granny White Dragon had sent were folded by color and packed into vacuum bags, ready to be pulled out in the fall and winter. Shi Wenze climbed the ladder to place the storage bins on the top shelf, while Lin Su categorized the college boy pajamas by type—T. rex under Saurischia, Triceratops under Ornithischia. He was already pretty good at telling them apart.
After the closets, the kitchen was the next most complicated area. Lin Su didn’t cook but loved buying all kinds of kitchen appliances—he even got a machine just for growing bean sprouts. Shi Wenze ignored the fact that they ate bean sprouts maybe once a year, praising the gadget as clever and practical. Plus, it was pink, perfectly matching the enamel pot. “Perfect! We’ll use it tonight!”
Lin Su felt pretty proud from the praise, but only Lin Lu was still awake, calling their mom to complain. “Can’t you do something about my brother? Yesterday he insisted on buying me a three-meter-long barbecue grill. Shi Ge didn’t stop him—he even helped pick the style.”
Si Longqiu laughed, “Hahaha, let him buy it.”
Lin Lu felt hopeless about this world without principles. In the end, Lin Su bought the barbecue grill, but instead of sending it to their place at Qinghu Garden, he had it shipped to Granny White Dragon’s. He planned to go back to the monster village with her for a barbecue when they had a holiday.
After tidying the kitchen, the sky outside had turned a warm golden-red. They ordered takeout, closed the curtains, and prepared to binge-watch shows together.
At that moment, Ji Yun called, saying she had sent them a box of fruit and casually asked, “What are you planning to eat tonight?”
“Eat—” Shi Wenze glanced at Lin Su drinking a beverage and simplified the answer from fried chicken and sweet-and-sour kimchi to, “Radish and chicken.”
Ji Yun was satisfied with the reply. It sounded healthy and low-fat.
After hanging up, Lin Su shook the drink in his hand. “What’s this called?”
Shi Wenze answered, “For when your body’s not feeling well—carbonated oral solution.”
Lin Su gave a thumbs-up. “If any parents ask about meals, I’ll leave that to you.”
After they finished their shows, rain started pouring outside, drumming on the windowpane.
Lin Su picked out a rose-scented candle and changed the bedsheets and duvet cover with Shi Wenze. Their new slippers felt like stepping onto a soft sandy beach.
In the bathroom, water flowed as Lin Su held the showerhead and helped rinse the foam off Shi Wenze’s body. He asked, “Did you notice anything different about the body wash?”
Without hesitation, Shi Wenze said, “It smells better than before. More fragrant. Did you buy a new bottle?”
Lin Su replied, “Yeah, I got a new container and poured the old body wash into it.”
Shi Wenze was speechless. Lin Su smiled and wrapped his arms around him, leaning in to kiss him. Then he checked once more to see if his boyfriend’s abs were still there—after all, they’d just eaten a lot of high-calorie fried food that night, so this step was definitely necessary.
The dinosaur pajamas didn’t get any use that night because Shi Wenze rolled straight out of the bathroom onto the bed. Lin Su’s soft dragon horns glowed with a faint blush, which later deepened after a playful bite. In the early hours, Shi Wenze whispered in his ear, “Be good. Let me kiss your tail again.”
Lin Su kicked him lazily. Big weekend clean-ups really were exhausting.
Extra 2: The Model
Shi Wenze really wanted Lin Su to draw him. But Lin Su thought the guy looked suspicious no matter how he looked at him—after all, no truly innocent model would just walk up and ask to strip off their clothes. So he kept refusing and even thought about locking the studio door.
Shi Wenze said, “Just one drawing.”
Lin Su explained, “My style doesn’t suit drawing handsome guys.”
Shi Wenze immediately declared, “Then I won’t be handsome. Draw me anyway.”
Lin Su couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. He had to admit, it was hard to tell whether this macho guy was throwing a tantrum or just being cute. It was definitely difficult to resist. He rubbed the scalp of Shi Wenze’s freshly cut hair, which was still a bit prickly, and soothed him, “Okay, I’ll draw you, but don’t move.”
Shi Wenze raised his hand and promised, “I won’t move. I definitely won’t disgrace art.”
Whether he’d disgrace the artist was another matter entirely. Lin Su set up a comfortable sofa for him and placed a bouquet nearby. Shi Wenze lay down in his new dinosaur bathrobe and asked, “Should I pose for you? Hands raised, like in The Creation of Adam?”
Lin Su frowned, “Why do you keep bringing up that painting?”
Shi Wenze answered honestly, “Because my art knowledge is limited. Besides Da Vinci’s egg, all I know is The Creation of Adam. Want to teach me some more? Or maybe start with Chinese painting history?”
Lin Su was completely smitten again. He had to admit his boyfriend had a thick filter on art. It wasn’t really Shi Wenze’s fault for being unfamiliar with art — it was art’s fault for not knowing him. Didn’t it owe him a little effort in return?
Shi Wenze asked, “Not drawing anymore?”
Lin Su hooked his hands behind Shi Wenze’s neck. “Not yet.”
“No rush. We can kiss first.”
Extra 3: The Amateur Pastry Chef
White Dragon was in the scale-developing stage—put simply, a long-term process. Because Lin Su’s bloodline had awakened late, his symptoms were more obvious than those of an average White Dragon. He wrapped himself in the quilt Granny had sent and lay sickly, unwilling to speak.
Shi Wenze juiced some Spirit Fruit and mixed in a bit of herbal medicine before pulling Lin Su from under the covers. “Take your medicine.” Lin Su buried his face in Shi Wenze’s chest. “I feel awful.”
“Yeah, you do.” Shi Wenze pinched his neck gently. “After you finish your medicine, I’ll stay and sleep with you for a while.”
“Don’t you have work?” Lin Su asked.
“I took some time off,” Shi Wenze said. “Using the paid leave you helped me save earlier.”
The medicine tasted sour and bitter. Lin Su gulped it down in one go. Too tired to keep his human form, he reverted to White Dragon and hid under the quilt again.
After a while, Shi Wenze quietly slipped in beside him. The White Dragon smoothly curled into his arms, his tail wrapping around his waist. Though weak, he instinctively curled it toward himself.
Shi Wenze gently patted his warm back and pressed close, chatting about meaningless, boring things. With his boyfriend’s patient soothing, the White Dragon finally drifted off into a drowsy sleep, no longer kicking off the covers in frustration.
Shi Wenze stayed by his side for over an hour, waiting until his breathing evened out before quietly slipping out of bed to do a big grocery run. At the refrigerated section, the cashier asked, “What’re you buying, buddy?”
Shi Wenze handed over a screenshot of the shopping list on his phone. “Double everything, please. Thanks.”
Why double? Because they had to leave room for one failed attempt—that was his first time making dessert.
When Lin Su woke up, the oven in the kitchen dinged. The sweet scent of chestnut cream already filled the whole place. Shi Wenze took off his gloves and pulled Lin Su to the table.
“Is this the cake you said you wanted while we were binge-watching? It doesn’t look perfect, but I doubled the chestnuts.”
Lin Su looked at the… thing on the plate. His boyfriend’s “doesn’t look perfect” was a huge understatement. Even with rose-colored glasses, it had nothing in common with a Mont Blanc. If it were sold at a street bakery, customers would probably demand a refund.
Shi Wenze scooped a spoonful and held it to Lin Su’s mouth with his hand. “Try it. Save the rest for after dinner.”
Lin Su didn’t eat from the spoon. Instead, he grabbed Shi Wenze’s hand and pulled the chunk of cream that had fallen into his palm onto his tongue, savoring it carefully.
“Hm, not bad.”
Shi Wenze beamed. “Am I not bad, or is the cake not bad?”
Lin Su patted his chest. “Both are good.”
