Yun Yingzhi’s small, delicate face fell. His three roommates, seeing him unable to hide his thoughts, found him both handsome and innocent. Just like his second form, he was a soft, obedient little white rabbit.

Yu Feiwen continued sharing his speculation. “If nothing unexpected happened, that friend probably rejected the lover’s confession.”

Yun Yingzhi thought for a moment. Yun Yingyao didn’t seem particularly interested in romance. If Huai Boshe had really confessed to her, the chances of her saying no… were extremely high. His hands clenched into fists instinctively as he glanced up at the green patch above his head, feeling a little angry.

“According to my guess, that person rejected the lover. Now the lover wants to see their white moonlight again, but it’s awkward and difficult,” another roommate added.

Yun Yingzhi imagined the scene—Huai Boshe confessing to Yun Yingyao, Yun Yingyao rejecting him, and then the two meeting again. The awkwardness would be unbearable.

“Then came the indirect approach: the girlfriend confesses to your friend, and through your friend, keeps an eye on her true love, the white moonlight,” Yu Feiwen explained. “Although… in a way, that girlfriend is suffering for the sake of true love.”

Yun Yingzhi’s imagination spiraled further, and his anger boiled over. Looking up again, the green meadow above his head seemed to have expanded into a boundless sea of green grass. He felt furious, convinced Huai Boshe was toying with his feelings. He sniffed, feeling a little dejected, but also desperate to give Huai Boshe a piece of his mind.

Then he thought about their childhood together. They had grown up as playmates. Would Huai Boshe really do something like this?

Yun Yingzhi muttered, “What you guys are saying makes sense, but… it could still be a misunderstanding… right?”

The three roommates exchanged subtle glances.

Yu Feiwen said, “Yingzhi, you just described so many details. Do you really think this could still be a misunderstanding?”

“Ask your friend. When they were together, when your friend wanted to get close physically with the girlfriend, did she always seem upset and find ways to refuse?”

Hearing that, Yun Yingzhi instinctively touched his lips, then slowly let his hands fall under the watchful eyes of his roommates. He remembered now: he had been dating Huai Boshe for half a year. Not only had there been no cuddling, there wasn’t even a kiss or any hand-holding. Of course, a grown adult would be curious about such things. He had once subtly expressed to Huai Boshe that he wanted to kiss, only to have Huai Boshe unromantically dodge him every time.

Just thinking about it made him furious. His second form was a rabbit! Rabbits have mating seasons! The more Yun Yingzhi imagined it, the more certain he became that this was exactly the case.

Seeing Yun Yingzhi upset, Yu Feiwen patted his shoulder reassuringly. “Don’t get angry over your friend’s business. You should advise him—he doesn’t need to waste time on such a scummy girl.”

Yun Yingzhi nodded, then suddenly got out of bed. His three roommates looked at him, puzzled.

“I’m skipping breakfast with you guys,” Yun Yingzhi said. “I need to tell my friend about this and get him to clear things up!” He was going to confront Huai Boshe.

Yu Feiwen nodded. “Alright. Go ahead.”

Yun Yingzhi ran to the bathroom for a quick shower—a proper “battle shower.” When he emerged wearing a loosely tied robe, water dripping from his cheeks to his collarbone, his exquisite, breathtaking features made all three roommates shift their gaze toward him, then awkwardly look away.

He was… impossible to ignore.

There was a saying: if you couldn’t stop looking at someone, it was easy to fall in love with them. They thought to themselves, With a face like that, who needs strength? Just with his looks, he could conquer the stars and seas. After shifting their gaze away, the three roommates couldn’t resist. Their eyes drifted back to Yun Yingzhi.

At that moment, Yun Yingzhi had already taken his uniform from the wardrobe. Fansa Academy students were required to wear uniforms on campus. Slight differences existed depending on department, grade, and class. Some students joked that the first class was the elite class and the last class was for underperformers; the uniforms reinforced this hierarchy.

Changing uniforms was always an expense. Yet Fansa Academy students competed fiercely to climb higher. To Yun Yingzhi, every upgrade in uniform symbolized a step up in the student hierarchy. Of course, Yun Yingzhi knew his own limits. As the lone soft, weak little white rabbit among a group of beasts, he had no expectations of advancing; he just wanted a smooth graduation.

For example, the promotion exam from first to second year? Truth be told, with his abilities, he would have failed. He had only passed thanks to a combination of theoretical knowledge, his research in source weapon manufacturing, and leniency from the combat-class students during practical exercises. On top of that, the promotion exam relied heavily on group project credits.

During first-to-second-year exams, group performance counted for a lot. Yun Yingzhi had simply latched onto elite first-year students like Huai Boshe to advance. In short, he couldn’t do it on his own—he relied entirely on “riding someone else’s coattails.”

Thinking about this made Yun Yingzhi uneasy. If he fell out with Huai Boshe, what would he do during the second-to-third-year group exams? He considered switching groups, but that wasn’t ideal either. As he pondered, he had already taken off his robe, revealing a body with no prominent chest or abdominal muscles—a poached-chicken figure, completely non-threatening, much like his second form.

Seeing him change so openly, the three roommates quickly looked away, uncomfortable.

Yu Feiwen considered for a moment, then strode over and, with Yun Yingzhi still bewildered, pushed him into the bathroom. “How many times have I told you? Change your clothes in the bathroom, not out in the open!”

Yun Yingzhi felt a little wronged. His roommates were being overprotective.

Changing clothes in the dorm is “in the open”? he thought. It’s just changing clothes. We’re military students! Sometimes we even run around naked on the training grounds or in the gym when it’s hot.

Still, he respected his roommates’ old-fashioned sensibilities and apologized obediently. “Sorry, I was in a hurry and forgot about your conservative habits.”

Yu Feiwen and the others exchanged looks, thinking their school’s top male beauty had no sense of self-awareness. Yun Yingzhi finished dressing, ran out of the bathroom, said a quick goodbye to his roommates, and strode out of the dorm.

One student, staring at the closed door, said, “Yingzhi said his friend’s girlfriend fell for his friend’s friend.”

Another added, “Yun Yingzhi definitely isn’t the ‘friend’ he’s talking about… I think he’s the ‘white moonlight’ the girlfriend loves.”

“Makes sense.”

“Yingzhi is really sinfully handsome.”

“But who’s the guy with the green hat that’s so close to Yun Yingzhi?”

The group pondered Yun Yingzhi’s circle of friends. Yu Feiwen speculated, “Huai Boshe?”

The three exchanged glances. One of them said hesitantly, “Probably not… right? I mean, I don’t like Huai Boshe much, but a lot of people do?”

Back in the dorm, Yun Yingzhi’s three roommates continued their guesses, while Yun Yingzhi himself, under the green meadow hovering over his head, rushed toward Huai Boshe’s dorm. He needed to clarify things face-to-face.

Though Yun Yingzhi and Huai Boshe were in the same department and year, they lived in different dorms. Elite-class students enjoyed much better accommodations than those in the tail-end class. The twenty elite-class students shared a large villa, each with a private room. The villa also had a dedicated training room equipped with exercise gear.

Yun Yingzhi quickened his pace, heading toward the villa where Huai Boshe lived. On the way, he passed juniors and seniors from his department. They greeted him warmly, and he responded briefly before speeding up again. He reached the villa designated for second-year students and pressed the doorbell.

Within a minute, a student in pajamas opened the door. Like Huai Boshe, he was a second-year elite-class student. Seeing Yun Yingzhi, the student enthusiastically grabbed his hand and pulled him into the first-floor hall. Yun Yingzhi didn’t particularly like coming to Huai Boshe’s dorm; his roommates were simply too overenthusiastic.

This student pulled his hand and sat him down on the sofa. Within a minute, the rest of the villa’s students, somehow aware of Yun Yingzhi’s presence, all poured out of their rooms—some even leaping nimbly from the second and third floors to the first-floor hall—smiling and greeting him.

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched. He politely returned greetings to each of these students with second-form “ferocious beasts.” After, he once again asked the crucial question. “I’m here to see A-She,” he said, though every time he came here, it was to see Huai Boshe. “Can you call him for me?”

He tried to pull back his hand from the student holding it. The first attempt failed, but with a little more effort, he managed to free himself.

“Boshe just went out,” said one student.

Another handed Yun Yingzhi a cup of tea. “Yingzhi, have some tea.”

He accepted it, thanked them politely, and asked, “Do you know where A-She went?”

“No idea. Maybe he’ll be back soon?”

“Yingzhi, come here, I previously wanted to show you my evolved second form—we can go to the underground training hall.”

“No, we’re not looking at your second form. Yingzhi, have you eaten yet?”

The corner of Yun Yingzhi’s mouth twitched at their over-enthusiasm. It made every visit here stressful for him. He hurriedly said, “I’m a little busy,” and dashed out.

The students tried to stop him, but he refused decisively. Once outside, he decided to call Huai Boshe directly. He needed to know where he was—he wanted to see him now. Unfortunately, the call didn’t connect.

Yun Yingzhi sent Huai Boshe a private message asking his location. The message remained unread. He frowned. Where had Huai Boshe gone? Not in the dorm, not answering calls… and… Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched as a critical thought struck him: Huai Boshe had always paid too much attention to Yun Yingyao.

“No way,” he muttered. Could Huai Boshe have gone to find Yun Yingyao?

His fists clenched. Frowning, he sped toward the first-year dorm. Like Huai Boshe, Yun Yingyao, the top first-year student, also lived in a villa in the same area. Yun Yingzhi quickly located her dorm. Compared to Huai Boshe’s roommates, Yun Yingyao’s first-year roommates were enthusiastic but more restrained toward an upperclassman.

One sweet-faced female student said, “Senior Yingzhi.”

Being a second-year tail-end student, Yun Yingzhi was respectfully addressed as a senior, which pleased him. Her roommates were all beautiful, kind, and polite.

“Senior Huai did come looking for Yingyao, but they just went out together,” one student said.

“Seems like Senior Huai had something to tell Yingyao. They probably went to the back woods,” another added.

Yun Yingzhi nodded and ran in the direction of the back woods. The so-called back woods, located behind the dorms, were known among Fansa Academy students as a “sacred ground for romance.” Rumor had it that some students even engaged in activities there that were best left undescribed.

Six months ago, Huai Boshe had suddenly called Yun Yingzhi, asking him to come to the back woods. At the time, Yun Yingzhi had sensed that something was off—Huai Boshe’s eyes were slightly red. Without hesitation, he set aside what he was doing and ran to the back woods. As childhood playmates, Yun Yingzhi didn’t know exactly what had happened, but he thought he needed to comfort Huai Boshe.

The Yun Yingzhi from half a year ago had been clueless about love. Confessions came at him constantly, but because there were so many, he treated them all like playing house. Yes, that was the case until Huai Boshe confessed to him. He remembered the countless people who had confessed to him. Initially, he would reject them; they might feel sad for a few days, but soon enough, they would be back to being their usual selves.

That day, he followed the coordinates Huai Boshe had given him. When he found him, his first instinct was to wrap him up in a big hug, burying his head in Huai Boshe’s neck.

Not knowing what had happened, Yun Yingzhi patted his shoulders and asked, “A-She, what’s wrong? What happened?”

“Yingzhi, I like you,” Huai Boshe said.

At the time, Yun Yingzhi was stunned. He had never imagined Huai Boshe confessing to him. Almost out of habit, his first reaction was to refuse. But seeing Huai Boshe’s emotional state at that moment, he decided to hold back, to wait until Huai Boshe calmed down before refusing.

“Yingzhi, let’s date,” Huai Boshe said.

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid twitched. Hearing no immediate response, Huai Boshe released him, stepped back, and looked into his eyes. Yun Yingzhi noticed the redness at the corners of Huai Boshe’s eyes had deepened. His heart softened.

Hesitantly, Yun Yingzhi said, “Okay.”

From that moment, Yun Yingzhi and Huai Boshe became a couple. They kept their relationship a secret—Huai Boshe didn’t want anyone to know, and Yun Yingzhi didn’t mind. Half a year had passed in the blink of an eye. Yun Yingzhi recalled that day—they had still been first-year students. What had Huai Boshe gone through? Why had he looked so upset that day?

Instinctively, Yun Yingzhi thought of Yun Yingyao. It probably had nothing to do with her—she was still in high school1back then…

Wait.

Suddenly, Yun Yingzhi remembered that around that time, high school students had started moving into the university section. As the first-year top student, Huai Boshe had been responsible for looking after them. Yun Yingzhi furrowed his brows. By the time he realized it, he had already made his way to the spot where Huai Boshe had confessed to him.

A familiar voice reached his ears—it was Huai Boshe.

“A-Yao, congratulations on being selected. A first-year in the Ranking Battle.”

“Thank you,” Yun Yingyao replied.

Combat-class students had perception far beyond normal humans. To avoid being detected, Yun Yingzhi transformed into his second form—a snow-white rabbit about 30 cm long. He hid in the shadows beneath the trees, eavesdropping on their conversation. Unbeknownst to him, a young man wearing a fourth-year Fansa Academy uniform lay on a branch directly above him.

The young man’s features were striking, with short white hair and violet eyes. His eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at the little white rabbit below, whose fur was beginning to bristle, and then looked toward the two not far away.

Nearby, Huai Boshe said, “Six months ago, it was right here that I confessed to you.”

Yun Yingzhi froze. So that meant six months ago, after confessing to Yun Yingyao in this very spot, Huai Boshe had later confessed to him? His roommates’ guess had come true.

Yun Yingyao said softly, “A-She…”

Huai Boshe said, “A-Yao, six months ago you rejected me here. Back then, you said your studies came first. What about now?”

“Sorry, A-She… I don’t like you.” Yun Yingyao paused, then added, “And… you and Zhi Zhi2…” She frowned, “This… would put Zhi Zhi in a difficult position.”

“I don’t like Yingzhi,” Huai Boshe said firmly.

“But… A-She, I don’t like you either,” Yun Yingyao replied.

The air between them grew heavy. Yun Yingzhi hopped angrily in place, trying to hold it in—but he couldn’t. Tears fell from his little rabbit eyes, pattering to the ground. He was furious. He wanted to confront Huai Boshe in a duel, but it was impossible.

Huai Boshe’s second form was a giant tiger, while his own was a tiny white rabbit. The gap in combat power was too great. Although he couldn’t fight, Yun Yingzhi still wanted to slap Huai Boshe a few times and lecture him.

But not now.

He couldn’t control his emotions, and discussing love with the scum man in front of his sister made him feel humiliated. He stomped in place a few times, then backed away some distance, making sure Huai Boshe and Yun Yingyao couldn’t notice him. Only then did he revert to his human form. He craned his head upward, sensing something—but saw nothing.

His eyes scanned suspiciously around him. Seeing no one unusual, he looked back down and opened his personal terminal. Almost at the same moment he looked away, a figure appeared on a branch above him. Violet eyes turned toward Yun Yingzhi.

Completely unaware, Yun Yingzhi sent Huai Boshe a private message: Where are you?

Perhaps Huai Boshe was still tangled up with Yun Yingyao—he didn’t reply. Wiping his tears, Yun Yingzhi switched the private message to a video call. Considering his current appearance, he converted it to a voice call.

Huai Boshe immediately hung up. Yun Yingzhi, already angry, felt his temper flare.

A moment later, he received a private message from Huai Boshe.

Huai Boshe: Yingzhi, sorry. I’m a little busy right now. Can we talk tomorrow?

Yun Yingzhi instantly replied with a question mark, then asked: Busy with what?

Huai Boshe: Yingzhi, something bad happened today. Let’s not talk about it for now, okay?

Yun Yingzhi assumed the “bad thing” must be the recent second rejection from Yun Yingyao. He typed: I want to see you. I have something to say.

He wanted to ask Huai Boshe what he really thought of him. They had grown up together. If Huai Boshe had these thoughts, he shouldn’t have confessed in the first place. Didn’t that betray their childhood bond? He also wanted to tell Huai Boshe, Trash! Stupid idiot! Get lost! Let’s break up!

Huai Boshe: Yingzhi, I’m really frustrated right now. Can you not make me more annoyed?

Yun Yingzhi: …Oh.

Yun Yingzhi: Fine.

Yun Yingzhi: Let’s leave it at that.

Anger bubbling up, he couldn’t hold back. He continued typing.

Yun Yingzhi: Trash!

Yun Yingzhi: Stupid idiot!

Yun Yingzhi: Let’s break up!
