Chapter 61: Elvis Is Coming Back

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

On the surface, Elvis appeared calm, but inside he was confused. The network on Shaluo Star had only just been restored today, and he had immediately learned what had happened at General Yun’s residence. Out of concern for Yun Yingzhi, and also to warn General Yun, he had deliberately initiated today’s livestream. But… Jiaojiao and Taotao?

His comprehension had never been an issue. Based on his conversations with Yun Yingzhi, if he weren’t an SSSS-level esper, he would have suspected that Jiaojiao and Taotao were two children—belonging to him and Yun Yingzhi.

But that was impossible. Theoretically, it was impossible. Yet in practice… Elvis stared at the flood of information appearing in front of him in such a short time. For the first time in his life, he felt an immense shock—utterly stunned.

Could this really happen? It felt like… Two little babies had fallen from the sky. In truth, he had long realized that he might never have children of his own. As an imperial prince, it wasn’t just about desire—it was the sorrow of knowing he couldn’t carry on his lineage. After all, there was a throne to inherit. Compared to responsibility, he personally wasn’t very fond of noisy, crying little kids.

Yet, the moment he considered Jiaojiao and Taotao as his and Yun Yingzhi’s children, he thought… These two Little Buns were just too cute. Too well-behaved.

Watching them in the video, tossing tiny fireballs and electric arcs at each other, Elvis’s heart melted. Little Bunny Jiaojiao and little egg Taotao—these two adorable little things were exactly like Yun Yingzhi. So obedient. Even when fighting, they were careful not to hurt one another. They were just too well-behaved!

Elvis could hardly contain himself, a goofy, proud-dad smile spreading across his face. At that moment, he really wanted to see Yun Yingzhi. He couldn’t help sending a video call request—but a notification popped up: You have been blocked. Please unblock first to initiate a video call.

Elvis paused. First, he tried contacting the Imperial Consort. The call was rejected.

He paused again, then sent a private message: I have children. Two of them.

No one else knew. At that moment, Elvis was super, super, super proud.

“They’re adorable. And obedient too.”

On the distant Imperial Star, the Imperial Consort replied with a “…”

He thought: indeed, obedient. After Yun Yingzhi had smashed the workbench, the two little ones had trembled and behaved themselves.

Elvis typed: They’re both so well-behaved, just like the person I like.

The Imperial Consort replied again with a “…” After a moment, he finally said: Oh.

Elvis’s mind slowly typed out a question mark. The Imperial Consort’s reaction felt… off. After a brief hesitation, he sent the same message to Emperor Jarren. Soon, he received a reply from the Emperor: …

Meanwhile, the Imperial Consort replied once more: I’ve seen them—Jiaojiao and Taotao—for quite some time.

…

He sent dozens of photos and videos to Elvis in quick succession. Elvis’s eyelids twitched. A subtle, uneasy feeling crept over him. In the images, the two Little Buns posed alongside Emperor Jarren and the Imperial Consort. In one picture, the Imperial Consort leaned in to kiss little kit, who looked utterly disgusted, pushing him away with tiny paws.

So… his two Little Buns, he hadn’t even held or kissed them yet, and Emperor Jarren and the Imperial Consort had already?

Imperial Consort: Elvis, you’re probably the last one to know that you’re Jiaojiao and Taotao’s dad, huh?

Elvis, “…”, felt a subtle mix of insult and disbelief. In his eyes, Yun Yingzhi and the two Little Buns mattered more than anything else. That same day, he boarded a spaceship back to the Imperial Star. As he left, his ears twitched. Many students on Shaluo Star had learned about the shocking events of the day.

“Wait… the school beauty’s kids are His Highness’s?”

“The whole Empire knows Jiaojiao and Taotao are His Highness’s kids, and he’s the last to find out?”

“But didn’t the school beauty refuse to take responsibility for His Highness? Does that mean I might still have a chance to be a dad for Jiaojiao and Taotao?”

“I really didn’t expect that the school beauty is the Red Peony source weapon maker. He’s amazing!”

Yun Yingzhi collapsed into Yun Yinghui’s arms. Yun Yinghui held him with one arm, gently patting his back with the other, speaking in a soft, soothing voice. The little kit and little egg were squeezed between the two adults, packed tightly. The little egg cleverly used his spatial ability, leaving little kit behind without brotherly consideration, and jumped directly above Yun Yingzhi’s head.

Yun Yingzhi felt the little egg atop his head, and his sobs faltered slightly. Yun Yingzhi was half a head shorter than Yun Yinghui, and the little egg now sat just under Yun Yinghui’s line of sight. He sniffled, trying to ignore the little egg above him. Choking on his words, he asked, “Brother… what should I do? What will our classmates think of me?”

As if greeting Yun Yinghui, the little egg hopped twice on Yun Yingzhi’s head, causing his cries to pause again. Yun Yinghui watched this ridiculous scene and couldn’t help the corners of his mouth curling. Right now, he thought Yun Yingzhi was both hilarious and pitiful.

Finally, the little kit climbed out from Yun Yingzhi’s chest, shook his fur, and scrambled onto his shoulder. With two quick little paws, he hugged Yun Yingzhi’s ears and climbed to the top of his head. Now, atop the crying Yun Yingzhi’s head sat two Little Buns.

Yun Yingzhi: “….”

Yun Yinghui: “….”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched. He looked at the bunny and egg above him. There was only one central spot on his head. Little kit, seeing the little egg occupying the center, let out a sharp “Ao!” and pounced. The two tiny paws shoved the little egg. The little egg rolled half a circle, stabilized, and angrily rolled back toward the little kit, who had claimed the center.

Yun Yingzhi scowled, watching the bunny-egg battle unfold atop his head. He had no energy left to cry—only an itching urge to grab them. Trying to punish the other father of these two little troublemakers seemed genetically impossible.

The little kit staggered under the little egg’s charge but quickly lunged back. The two of them clashed again. In less than ten seconds, Yun Yingzhi’s neatly styled hair was a disaster—a bird’s nest. Yun Yinghui’s chest shook with laughter.

Yun Yingzhi was furious. After holding back for a moment, he finally couldn’t take it. He reached out to grab the misbehaving Little Buns. But… the two Little Buns sensed his hand, leapt with precision, and continued their brawling.

Yun Yingzhi: “….”

Yun Yinghui: “….”

Yun Yingzhi took a deep breath and said, “Brother, look! Look at these two little monsters!”

No, no, no. He couldn’t let the little kit assimilate him with anger. Yun Yingzhi tried to grab them a second time. Again, they leapt precisely out of reach, shoving and rolling at each other.

On the third attempt, Yun Yingzhi shouted, “Jiaojiao! Taotao! Stop moving!”

Immediately, the two Little Buns froze. Feeling Yun Yingzhi’s righteous anger, they wisely stayed close to his hands, suddenly appearing perfectly obedient—like little angels. One licked him with its tiny tongue, the other nudged him with its eggshell, completely abandoning their previous mischievous selves. Yun Yinghui tidied Yun Yingzhi’s hair.

With tears in his eyes, Yun Yingzhi sniffled and looked at Yun Yinghui pitifully. “Brother… I also want Jiaojiao and Taotao to fight on His Highness Elvis’s head.”

Yun Yinghui: “….” Clearly, Yun Yingzhi’s resentment toward Elvis ran deep, to the point of thinking something so absurd. But… He followed Yun Yingzhi’s train of thought for a moment and couldn’t help but think—it actually seemed kind of interesting.

Yun Yingzhi steadied himself, handing the two little ones to Yun Yinghui. “Brother… I want to think by myself for a while,” he said, needing to process this socially mortifying life.

Yun Yinghui nodded. “Okay.” Despite the Little Buns’ protests, he carried them out of Yun Yingzhi’s room. No matter how much Yun Yingzhi didn’t want to face things, time continued to flow forward. He had to face it. Yun Yingzhi took a deep breath and sat in place for five minutes before finally summoning the courage to open his personal terminal.

Yun Yingzhi: “….”

Trending at the top. —Human Trash.

He clicked it. The gist: the guy who had publicly admitted on livestream that he’d “messed with the Crown Prince” and then, without a hint of shame, declared he wouldn’t take responsibility. Human Trash.

Yun Yingzhi felt like a wildfire in the forest—once lit, it would instantly spread, now lighting up half the sky. He swayed a little, comforting himself: no big deal. At worst, he could pack up the family and go settle on a remote life planet. He continued checking the news. Then he saw some subtle updates.

Starshine Competition had been receiving complaints all day. The organizers had spent a fortune replacing all the workbenches. The new workbenches had been tested and were of the highest quality. Even SSS-level esperes could not smash them easily. Fans no longer needed to worry about participants getting hurt.

Meanwhile…the Red Peony three-piece cotton set Yun Yingzhi had always worn had completely sold out. According to the chatter on StarNet, the outfit had a special design that improved stamina. Many users swore it wasn’t just a placebo—wearing it warmed the body, improved circulation, and made them feel faster. But there was something that annoyed Yun Yingzhi the most.

In his memory, little Elvis had to have looked exactly like the two Little Buns when he was a child. Yet StarNet users insisted that young Elvis had been very well-behaved. Yun Yingzhi thought of the two little troublemakers. No. If the Little Buns didn’t resemble Elvis, did they look like him? Like the little angel Yun Yinghui had always described him as being?

Impossible. He angrily closed StarNet and opened his personal messaging list. It was full of unread messages. Yun Yingzhi read them one by one, his cheeks flushing. The worst were two videos forwarded by a classmate he barely knew.

Yes. Two.

One showed the entire socially mortifying experience he had recently endured. The other was a full set of livestream clips of Starshine Competition source weapon evaluations, complete with dazzling rainbow-danmaku effects. Yun Yingzhi slammed his terminal shut and burrowed under the covers.

Too embarrassing. At that moment, he found himself slightly envious of the little egg’s eggshell. It was the perfect tool for hiding away—like an anti-social armor for total retreat.

Half-dazed, Yun Yingzhi fell asleep. When he woke up, about two hours had passed. He heard rapid “da-da-da” footsteps and knocking at the door. He knew it was the little kit. Just as he was about to get up and open the door, it swung open by itself.

The little kit hung from the doorknob, pushed the door open, climbed down, and peeked out cautiously at Yun Yingzhi. Seeing this, Yun Yingzhi immediately felt his heart ache. He knew little kit must have thought he’d been angry earlier, and was being careful.

He waved at the little kit. Little kit instantly leapt into his arms, rubbing his tiny head against Yun Yingzhi’s palm. Soon after, the little egg hopped over as well. Yun Yingzhi held both Little Buns and asked, “Where’s your uncle?”

Little kit pointed toward the door and continued to cling to Yun Yingzhi, chattering “da-da-da.”

Knocking followed, and Yun Yinghui entered, sitting on the edge of the bed to talk. No matter how bad things got, life had to go on. They couldn’t just leave for a remote planet to farm—first, they needed money to buy land.

Yun Yinghui said, “Father and mother wanted to see you, but I refused.”

Yun Yingzhi lifted his chin defiantly. “Hmph! They don’t like me, I don’t like them, and Jiaojiao and Taotao don’t like them either!”

The little kit immediately echoed with a “da!” Little egg bounced and agreed.

Yun Yinghui continued, “The major news outlets want to interview you. I refused them too.”

Yun Yingzhi nodded. Yun Yinghui said, “Emperor Jarren and the Imperial Consort want to see you.”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched violently. He suddenly handed the two Little Buns to Yun Yinghui. Yun Yinghui froze, taking the two little ones. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

Little kit: “Da?”

Both Little Buns immediately jumped back into Yun Yingzhi’s arms. Yun Yingzhi thought: I just admitted on livestream that I messed with His Highness Elvis and won’t take responsibility—how could I possibly meet Emperor Jarren and the Imperial Consort now?

He said, blushing furiously, “Brother… I won’t give Jiaojiao and Taotao to His Highness Elvis. But you can let His Majesty and the Imperial Consort meet them. Can you make them wait to see me for now?”

Yun Yinghui’s lips curved. “Okay.”

The two Little Buns, who had no idea what the adults were saying, happily shared their joy in their own way. Yun Yinghui said, “Jiaojiao and Taotao want to go to the Yaoming Battle Arena with you.”

Yun Yingzhi shook his head immediately. With just one communication, all his secret identities had been completely exposed. If any remained, it would be… Stellar and Cute Little Battle Rabbit at the Yaoming Battle Arena. Stellar didn’t matter—nothing embarrassing there. But Cute Little Battle Rabbit…

Forget it. Wasn’t that already embarrassing enough? There was no way he’d take the two little troublemakers to the Yaoming Battle Arena, no matter how chaotic they got. He was already humiliated enough. No more.

Yun Yingzhi stayed holed up from January 20th to January 25th. He sincerely hoped that, with time, everyone would forget the events of the past few days. However, five days of letting things settle clearly weren’t enough. The attention on StarNet hadn’t decreased—it had only grown day by day.

Even more frustrating, someone had found out that His Highness Elvis was returning to the Imperial Star from the Trial Planet. Many people speculated that the moment Elvis landed, he would immediately come looking for Yun Yingzhi. Some even said this would be the first heartfelt father-and-children reunion between Elvis and the two Little Buns.

No one knew what kind of sparks would fly when the Little Buns met their other father after being separated for so many days. Yet most people thought that, judging from the communications between Elvis and Yun Yingzhi, it might be Yun Yingzhi himself that Elvis was more eager to see than the Little Buns.

Seeing everyone on StarNet counting down and waiting for Elvis’ return, Yun Yingzhi couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Meanwhile, the thing that bothered him most was Madam Yun. Madam Yun had come to the villa multiple times, wanting to see Yun Yingzhi. Each time, the villa staff refused her entry.

It was obvious Madam Yun wanted to reconcile, but Yun Yingzhi had no intention of forgiving them. The neglect of his childhood, the unilateral pressure during his growth, and the ultimate severing of ties—even thinking about it now made Yun Yingzhi feel suffocated. He wouldn’t give General Yun or Madam Yun a chance to hurt him again.

On January 26th, Yun Yingzhi received a notice from the Source Weapon Association. When he had created the spatial-limited source weapon, he had promised the royal family that he would assist the association in perfecting the upgraded version, in exchange for Yun Yinghui having a year off with the Little Buns.

Now the association was contacting him to start work. This was Yun Yingzhi’s final act of stubbornness. Even though he had no real disguises left, he firmly believed that as long as he kept up the act, there would still be uninformed netizens on StarNet questioning him. As long as the doubters kept growing in number, he had “won.”

With this naive expectation of “I’ll just play dumb to the end,” Yun Yingzhi, blushing, put on his Red Peony three-piece outfit, a hat, and a mask, and prepared to leave. The two Little Buns absolutely had to go with him. Yun Yingzhi thought for a moment and handed the Little Buns to Yun Yinghui. But the Little Buns kept leaping toward him.

After Yun Yinghui mentioned taking them to the Yaoming Battle Arena, the little fighters rolled over Yun Yingzhi’s face one last time… Then leapt onto Yun Yinghui, waving their tiny paws in farewell to Yun Yingzhi.

Yun Yingzhi: “….”

The Little Buns were so fond of the Battle Arena that StarNet users had even started speculating: If Elvis wanted to see Yun Yingzhi upon returning from the Trial Planet, he would go to the Yunhai Villa. If he wanted to see the Little Buns after being apart for so long, he’d go to the Yaoming Battle Arena instead. No one knew which would be his first destination.

Thinking of Elvis, Yun Yingzhi scowled and boarded the levitating car. Soon, the car arrived at the Source Weapon Association. He stepped down. The black-and-red Red Peony three-piece outfit was far too recognizable. Instantly, all eyes around the association turned to him.

Yun Yingzhi marched forward, preparing to enter the building.

Suddenly, a voice called out: “Yun Yingzhi.”

His eyelids twitched. A familiar voice—it was Madame Huai. Up to this point, Yun Yingzhi had intended to hold firm to his plan: as long as he pretended not to know anything, no one could touch him.

Madame Huai said, “Yun Yingzhi, is this how you treat your father and mother?”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched violently. He had disliked Madame Huai since childhood. Liked her less as he grew up. And previously, she had spread word about his pregnancy.

Madame Huai continued, “Regardless, your father and mother raised you, giving you a life of comfort. And now, because you bore two children for the royal family, you’re abandoning the parents who raised you?”

Yun Yingzhi couldn’t take it! He turned to face Madame Huai. At the same time, a crowd of news reporters who had been waiting outside the Source Weapon Association spotted him and rushed forward, eager to interview him.

One, particularly overexcited, pushed through and accidentally pulled off Yun Yingzhi’s hat and mask. Immediately, his beautiful face was exposed to everyone. The crowd quickly regained focus. Somehow, in the commotion, someone accidentally shoved Yun Yingzhi to the ground. Staff from the Source Weapon Association rushed out, helping him up and positioning him safely in the center.

Meanwhile, onlookers who realized what was happening quickly joined the crowd, until Yun Yingzhi was surrounded three layers deep, both inside and outside.

Amid the crowd, someone asked, “What happened? What’s going on?”

“Seems like a reporter got too excited and accidentally pushed Yun Yingzhi over.”

“Wow… he’s even more attractive in person than on livestream. And he looks so delicate!”

At that moment, an esper soldier from the Source Weapon Association looked at Yun Yingzhi. “Mr. Yun, are you okay?”

Yun Yingzhi shook his head, forcing a smile. He looked extremely fragile. “I just fell… I’m fine.”

Hearing this, the crowd’s concern deepened.

Yun Yingzhi’s gaze shifted sharply, locking onto Madame Huai. His eyes were rimmed red. “Madame Huai… I hate you!” he said.

Thinking it over, Yun Yingzhi suddenly realized that, compared to His Highness Elvis, Madame Huai was far more detestable. If she hadn’t spread word about his pregnancy back then, he wouldn’t have unleashed that furious tirade at Elvis—he wouldn’t have publicly embarrassed himself in front of the entire empire.

Madame Huai was the real culprit!

Madame Huai’s expression remained cold. “Yun Yingzhi… I’m really beginning to question your upbringing.”

Yun Yingzhi shot back immediately, “Then you can blame General Yun and Madam Yun for not knowing how to raise a child.”
