The room was brightly lit, but Lyss instinctively took two steps back.
His inadvertent movement seemed to displease Lu Xingye, who raised an eyebrow and walked in, then closed the heavy metal door behind him. The door was heavy, and upon closing, it emitted a deep sound.
Lyss’s heart skipped a beat for no reason, and as Lu Xingye casually approached, he unconsciously stepped back until he bumped into the bed. Unable to move further, Lyss silently clenched his right hand, glancing at the things hanging on the walls around him, feeling like a lamb walking into a tiger’s den for the first time, his tail unconsciously stood on end. he had no way out. Lu Xingye leisurely walked up to him, and Lyss sat down, pressing his lips together as Lu Xingye’s hands supported him, enveloping his entire being.
“Why so quiet?” Lu Xingye softly buried his head in Lyss’s neck, sniffing the increasingly strong scent of white peaches beneath him, unable to suppress a smile, “You smell so good, Chief.”
Forced to tilt his head back, the warmth gently sprayed onto Lyss’s delicate neck. This position allowed him to take in the room’s decor, but Lyss found it hard to accept. It wasn’t about the objects or their meanings; he couldn’t accept how his puppy had turned into this after five years.
Lyss had initially thought Lu Xingye’s madness was merely psychological, never imagining that the other had already put it into practice; he was simply unaware.
“…Can you let me go first?” Lyss reluctantly suppressed his gasping and spoke.
“No.” Lu Xingye held onto his waist, pressing him down on the bed in a way that didn’t allow resistance, knees spreading apart to press against Lyss’s thighs, firmly restraining the man beneath him, “Once I let you go, you won’t like me anymore.”
This situation was becoming dangerously overwhelming. Lyss wasn’t averse to normal intimacy, but fundamentally, he was a rather dominant person and couldn’t accept feeling completely controlled in bed. Previously, to placate Lu Xingye, he had gone as far as letting the other make him cry; this current situation, seemingly abnormal, was beyond Lyss’s imagination.
Lyss pursed his lips, reaching out to stop Lu Xingye’s hand from slipping into his clothes, changing the subject as he spoke, “Do you like me?”
“I love you.” Lu Xingye lightly licked the side of Lyss’s neck, without hesitation, “For these five years, I’ve thought of you constantly… at first, almost every day, then less as the surgeries began. I started dreaming of you when I was unconscious.”
Lyss originally intended to stall for time, but upon hearing Lu Xingye’s words, he was momentarily stunned, “How did you think of that?”
“I’d occasionally dream of you lying in my arms in a bathrobe, asking me to towel dry your hair. Sometimes, I got too excited, losing my touch, and you’d strike me with your tail.”
Lyss seemed pensive, “If occasionally dreaming about that, what about most of the time?”
Lu Xingye suddenly fell silent. The warmth in the hollow of his neck surged, and Lyss abruptly understood something.
Lu Xingye slowly lifted his head from the hollow of his neck, his eyes as dark as an abyss. He gently grasped Lyss’s chin, lowering his head to taste his lips, murmuring as he did so, “My most frequent dream… is the night you rejected me. At first, the dream was identical to what happened in reality, every detail the same. But I couldn’t accept it. Even in my dreams, I wondered if I had been stronger, strong enough to protect you, would you still have pushed me away? But then I realized, even if I were stronger, you would still have pushed me away.”
Lu Xingye’s tone was calm, but Lyss keenly sensed danger beneath that calmness.
Instinctively, Lyss blocked his tail in front of him, an act of self-defense that inadvertently handed the enemy an advantage. Lu Xingye lightly tugged at the tip of his tail, feeling satisfied with the sudden tension and increased breathing of the man beneath him. He chuckled softly, then proceeded to slowly unwrap the gift he had been waiting for five years.
“So I changed my approach after that.” Lu Xingye blinked, staring intently at the trembling person before him, “I always thought of becoming stronger, thinking that I could only protect you then. But I was wrong. It’s the alpha’s nature, or perhaps my inherent flaws, that made me want to protect you, but I forgot; you are Triss’s Chief, Chudai, a divine being beyond human reach. You don’t need my protection.”
As he spoke, he lightly bit down on Lyss’s throat. After two nights of intimacy, Lyss had reverted entirely to his state five years ago. Simply being touched made him tremble, let alone having his throat bitten.
“…Don’t bite… ah…” Lyss couldn’t help but resist, but the more he resisted, the more fervently Lu Xingye bit down. He could only endure the tremors and phrase his plea differently, “Gently.”
At his words, Lu Xingye released his hold on Lyss’s throat, instead licking the mark he had left. “So I stopped having those foolish dreams. Instead of protection, you’re better off being kept by me.”
His tone was as indifferent as if he were discussing something inconsequential, surprising Lyss, “What?”
“In my subsequent dreams, I started frequently appearing in the days of the rift, up until I realized I liked that feeling. I liked being in a small room with just you and me, where you could only look at me, unable to leave.” Lu Xingye lifted his head, earnestly locking eyes with Lyss. “Later, I would dream of that day, but the trajectory changed. You’d still ask me to leave, but I wouldn’t be foolish enough to agree. I would take you to a room, tie your hands and feet, blindfold you. Apart from gasps and whimpering, you wouldn’t make any other sound.”
Lyss was supposed to be more astonished or to push Lu Xingye away, but he didn’t do anything. He suddenly glimpsed beneath Lu Xingye’s almost obsessive descriptions and perceived the other’s unease. His constant dreams of the night he was rejected, Lyss couldn’t help but think, Lu Xingye was seeking a sense of security from him, but his methods were extreme.
Realizing this, Lyss’s urge to resist suddenly weakened. Softly, he spoke, “Even in your dreams, you only dare to dream to that extent?”
Lu Xingye’s pupils contracted abruptly. It was as if a fireball had exploded inside him from those words. When he regained his senses, he used force, pressing the person beneath him onto the bed, firmly against his thighs, and lowered his head to whisper in his ear, “The night before last, when you slept in my arms, I looked at you without blinking and resented you for why you couldn’t conceive my child but were able to give birth to someone else’s child, and that night I had a very brief dream where I dreamed of locking you up and feeding you until you couldn’t eat and cried and begged me that you would bear my child.”
Lyss dropped his golden eyes, his lashes fluttered slightly, it was hard to tell if it was because of excitement or because of fear, after a long time he spoke, “You already knew that Lin Lang was your daughter.”
“Yes, I already knew.” Lu Xingye slowly and methodically played with the snow-white tail under his hand, “So those thoughts were nothing more than excuses that the subconscious mind made for itself. I’m just a madman who wants to lock you up and make you lay in bed every day crying and begging for me, but with only me in your eyes forever. Do you still like me like that?”
Lyss was in a delicate mood right now, his guidance over the past two days did seem to have done some good, Lu Xingye was no longer avoiding him consciously or unconsciously, yet the resumption of frankness was a little too much for the puppy to take in for a while – it was just too much honesty.
There wasn’t even much of an ebb and flow to his words, the content alone was enough for Lyss to get a peek into his crazy, blunt heart. Dangerous, crazy and hot love that a normal person might shy away from, but Lyss couldn’t deny realizing that he loved it. Even as the other man describes the scenes, Lyss realizes abruptly – he’s heartbroken.
He was subtly excited by all the possible madness, except that it was nothing like what Lu Xingye had in mind, and the other man was almost crazy enough to think that by locking Lyss up he could possess everything about him.
Little did he realize that to Lyss, he was the prey that was too deep in the cage to realize it.
“I certainly like you… and it’s not just liking.” Lyss suddenly took Lu Xingye’s hand and pressed it against his clavicle. “I love you.”
Lu Xingye was prepared to face Lyss’s reprimand or indifference but never expected a confession from him in this situation. He widened his eyes in disbelief, “Wha—”
Before he could finish, several golden lines of code emerged from his clavicle, radiating a brilliant light that filled the entire room.
Lu Xingye had no idea what Lyss meant. He looked at Lyss in surprise, but at that moment, Lyss lightly tapped a particular set of code with his finger. The not-so-long golden code immediately floated in front of them. Lyss slowly spoke, “My code is divided into three levels: original, encrypted, and executable code.”
Lu Xingye blinked, staring at Lyss’s fingertips, slowing his breath. He vaguely realized he might hear something incredibly important.
“The original code has the highest priority and is something I cannot modify. It determines the fundamental logic of my operation.” This was the first time Lyss analyzed himself in a thoroughly machine-like manner, “The most important part of it, I’ve told you once before, but you didn’t believe me. That is the inability to lie, a fundamental condition for operation.”
Lu Xingye was incredulous. After regaining his composure, he subconsciously spoke, “But you clea—”
“I’ve only lied to you once.” Lyss interrupted him, “The night I asked you to leave, you asked if I truly didn’t want you, and I said I didn’t. Other than that, everything I’ve said to you has been true.”
This unexpected surprise stunned Lu Xingye. It took a while before he spoke, “You said your underlying logic prevents you from lying.”
“That’s the issue I want to address now.” Lyss looked at him intently, “The reason I wanted you to leave that night was that I wanted you to live. At that moment, this matter took precedence over all other codes, causing me to do something that contradicted the fundamental logic of my operation.”
Lu Xingye seemed like a mute actor suddenly pressed the pause button. He understood each word Lyss said, but putting them together left him confused. After a long while, his brain pieced together a concept: letting me live outweighed all his operational logic.
Lu Xingye didn’t dare to delve further into his thoughts. He awkwardly asked, “Is this code the basic one you mentioned?”
“No, this is a code generated five years ago.” Unexpectedly, Lyss denied, “I can’t change the original code by myself; this code is auto-generated from the code library.”
Lyss paused there, seemingly waiting for Lu Xingye to ask about the meaning of this code. Lu Xingye vaguely guessed the significance of this code, but he hesitated to speak. Having misunderstood too many times was like crying wolf; he gradually lost the courage to embrace.
In the end, he spoke, “…Does this code have a meaning?”
This immense anticipation seemed to have occurred five years ago, a familiar process. If the ending remained the same? At this thought, Lu Xingye suddenly felt a bit desolate. He realized he couldn’t make any other plans. If rejected again, he might choose to never speak again, but besides that, he couldn’t do anything else. He couldn’t stop loving him, couldn’t let go, and couldn’t forget this memory. But then Lyss’s words shattered all his self-doubt and self-deprecation.
“I love you.” Lyss repeated, blinking, looking directly at him, “The meaning of this code is that I will love you forever.”
I used to be unable to love and didn’t understand what that feeling was. But I will engrave loving you into my code as a rule of operation, forever.
“So…” Lyss looked calmly at Lu Xingye, “No matter what you want to do to me, I’m willing.”
