Chapter 18:  Quarrel

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Mimosa

Ming Huan froze for a moment and rushed to call up the airflow map in preparation to re-plan the temporary path. His right hand avoided the countercurrent, and the tail stretched out to jam the lever for him. He clenched his teeth before he adjusted and the angle of the left wing slightly adjusted.

Yu Hanzhou watched coldly.

However, Ming Huan did not make any more mistakes. However, for some reason, as soon as any slight fluctuation of the airflow came from the oncoming side after they had barely stabilized the fuselage, the fuselage seemed to lose all its own adjustment ability and fell into a new data disorder again.

Ming Huan had to keep operating his left and right hands on the console, planning the path and adjusting the anti-gravity data in two ways.

“This one warplane is shipped directly from District 12, the gravity parameters are completely different, the calculation method must be reset, it’s useless for you to just manually change the data, you have to call up the computing interface and start adjusting from the algorithm.”

“….”

Ming Huan wiped the sweat on his forehead.

‘You should have said so!’

“I know, I understand.”

When adjusting the algorithm, he encountered an airflow, and the fuselage shook violently in pure manual mode.

His whole body slid to the right, and his body was so small that he almost slipped out of the seat. His tail caught the balance bar, and the plane was carried in the air before it was flipped around twice.

Ming Huan subconsciously released his tail, only to realize that completely releasing the balance bar was even worse.

It was over since the data had not yet been set causing the data to be even more disordered once the balance bar was loosened. This old fighter could easily have a small burnout or maybe even crash due to energy accumulation.

‘Twenty thousand meters was how high?’

Ming Huan’s heart was in his throat.

For a dragon, it doesn’t matter since if you jump directly like this, you should be able to fly.

A hand supported his shoulders, interrupting his nonsense. The other hand crossed his chest, holding the lever for him quickly before he then changed the parameters for him and turned on the wing auto-adjustment avoidance prediction mode.

The fuselage was righted in a moment.

Ming Huan took a big breath.

His back was soaked through.

This was different from the Junior commander exam.

It was really like he was going to die.

“There is a very famous saying in ancient civilization. Arrogant soldiers will be defeated.” Yu Hanzhou saw the horns on top of Ming Huan’s head and said indifferently. “Even for the simplest war machine, the slightest mistake or unexpected deviation may leave your bones untouched. Ming Huan, no commander will be impulsive and prideful.”

Ming Huan’s heart was pounding.

Even the back of his hand was shaking a little when he came back to his senses again.

Yu Hanzhou was deliberate.

He was deliberately taking a warplane with the wrong gravity parameters for him to adjust to the full manual mode in order to make things difficult for him.

‘And he really did.’

‘Really messed up.’

Ming Huan’s self-esteem seemed to be knocked apart by a crack, and the wind of the internal drumming from the fissure continued to pour out.

His eyes couldn’t help but redden a little, “Did I say that I wanted to be the commander?”

Yu Hanzhou turned his head, and his voice was cold, “If you don’t become a commander, then what do you want to be?”

“You are a white feathered dragon with a mental energy prediction of SSS-Level. If not, the Federation would not have court-martialed you to be sentenced for me to exercise [custody]. You are perfectly capable of being a good enough commander, but, your character-“

“What’s wrong with my character?!” Ming Huan turned his head and the little mist under his eyes could not be hidden, overflowing more and more in the eyes.

Yu Hanzhou wanted to say something but stopped.

‘Why does it seem like you’re going to cry?’

“Just, just these three years! I took the closed craft manual pilot’s license, non-leap starship pilot’s license, Federation class one fighter primary and secondary pilot’s license. Reconnaissance aircraft operation license, alpha class space station repair qualification. General purpose mecha class 1 license, I minored in medicine, law, economics, and your history! How am I not good enough?!” Ming Huan’s hand pointed outward in an expansive manner. “Look, besides me, who else’s young alpha can learn so many things? Let’s say this time, you want me to go on a mission and sign me up for another ten days of closed fighter training. You said that I was sick and went to check on me for half a day, but you finally only gave me a ‘push’ to resolve it….”

Ming Huan’s eyes were red for some reason as he spoke.

Even tears began to fall down.

Wiping could not clean them fast enough.

Outside the white clouds and mist floating, light generally poured backwards.

“If I’m not good enough, then you tell me how to be good enough?!”

Ming Huan talked in a more and more excited manner with red eyes, but this time, dragon horns and his tail unexpectedly did not show up. He choked twice and could not breathe, “Yu Hanzhou, why did you adopt me….”

‘If you didn’t, you might as well have let me stray into the slums of a marginal planet.’

‘Poor is poor, he would not be angry, ah.’

Ming Huan, teary-eyed, took the back of one hand to wipe his eyes. It was too late to look at the face of the person opposite him.

He only knew that he was silent for a long time.

” Why are you…. Hiccup, not talking?”

He seemed to hear Yu Hanzhou sigh.

Ming Huan now eased up a bit, and felt too humiliated by the crying he had just done.

He turned his head with his chin raised high.

The long neck tilted out in an extremely good-looking arc.

“So tell me, why don’t you turn on the coach driving mode?”

In fact, Ming Huan didn’t even know that there was a tutored driving mode. He just remembered that the lieutenant wanted him to be bold, saying that this must be much easier than the Junior commander exam.

He then charged out.

The tail wagged from side to side, hinting at the unsettled mood of its owner.

He didn’t even know how the fighter flew back to the training camp, only that when he got down, Yu Hanzhou removed his pilot operating gloves while beckoning the lieutenant over.

“Admiral, it was an oversight on my part. I hadn’t told him that this fighter had an assisted pilot mode, nor had I adjusted the parameters in advance. I thought that the kid who passed the Junior commander exam should….”

More words need not be heard.

Yu Hanzhou’s black face ordered that lieutenant to be demoted three levels and transferred out of Capital Star.

As it turned out, it wasn’t Ming Huan who was bent on driving in independent mode.

It was the teacher who was negligent.

After this day’s fuss, Ming Huan went back to the lounge and just sat there for a while when the sound of locking the door after pushing it in came from behind him. The sound of hard leather shoes on the soft carpet made a very slight scraping sound.

Ming Huan still heard it.

It was Yu Hanzhou’s footsteps.

“Ming Huan, I’ll give you a new teacher.”

Ming Huan lowered his eyes and pursed his lips without saying anything.

“If you are in bad shape today. I’ll take you home. Take a few days off and come back to learn.”

“I’ll only be in worse shape when I go home.”

“Don’t get mad.” With two words of work, Yu Hanzhou walked to him. The dim lounge only had a small window that was half-open, which shone on the small and large figures, “You are sick. Maybe the state is still not quite right, go back and rest for two days before coming back.”

“Early learning and late learning, I do not always have to learn.”

Yu Hanzhou helped Ming Huan to pin back two buttons on his uniform that had been loosened.

Ming Huan looked very heroic in his military uniform, and his overly delicate face was made even more eye-catching by the straight military uniform.

“Ming Huan, I will only have [custody] of you for three to five years. By the time that you differentiate, we won’t have anything to do with each other. At that time, whatever you want to do, I won’t stop you. I won’t force you to do whatever you don’t want to do.”

‘Bullshit!’

‘The words sounded good.’

‘It’s simply not possible.’

‘If I don’t take the right to use that remote agricultural planet before it’s too late. When I become an alpha, you will force me to be the Commander and continue to help you complete one mission after another, endlessly, in a cycle.’

Ming Huan raised his eyes and looked at Yu Hanzhou with eyes full of disbelief.

His eyelids were a little swollen.

He didn’t look up, but a hand came up and helped him wipe the wetness under his eyes.

“But for a limited time [in custody]. I will be responsible for you to the fullest extent. Ming Huan, you are very good. I am strict with you because I want more possibilities for your future, that you can have the ability to live the life that you want for yourself – whatever that life looks like in your mind.”

Ming Huan suddenly realized that this was a very rare opportunity to claim a promise.

“I can do whatever I want as long as the custody period is up?”

“Hmm.” Yu Hanzhou agreed with alacrity.

“Okay, I’ll learn.” Ming Huan summoned up a little energy, suddenly realizing that this was a good opportunity to draw a line in the sand, “I’m about to differentiate anyway, this should be the last task I help you with. Yu Hanzhou, thank you so much for adopting me. I’ll finish this one more thing for you and we’ll be even. No matter what I do after differentiation, you can’t stop me.”

‘I’m going.’

‘Retirement on the agricultural planet.’

Ming Huan eyes were full of determination.

Yu Hanzhou pondered this light under his eyes, suddenly silent for a while. It was as if guessing how much weight the “no matter” Ming Huan’s mouth really carried.

“What’s wrong?” Ming Huan’s heart was a little panicked, “Is a Federation admiral is not going to keep his word?”

“You can not rely on mental energy to oppress the weak, hurt humans, and even endanger the Federation and the entire interstellar.”

‘Oh my god.’

‘Am I that much of a bully?’

Ming Huan thought that the original soul was the one that started the interstellar war on a daily basis.

“I won’t.” Ming Huan agreed seriously, and his little tail started wagging excitedly.

Yu Hanzhou looked at him to sweep away the previous gloom, and his eyes became much milder.

The teacher that Yu Hanzhou chose for him this time was very strict, and Ming Huan caught on quickly. Ten days soon arrived, and Yu Hanzhou asked him to choose the candidate for the auxiliary position. He recommended three mid-level commanders of the military department to him.

However, Ming Huan chose a cadet who was as undeclared as he was.

It was an undifferentiated omega, Xie Shuci.

In response, Yu Hanzhou was apparently a little upset that he was getting emotionally attached again.

‘Old habits again.’

“Is this a mission given by the military department for you to fall in love?!”

“I’m not meant to fall in love.” Ming Huan scratched his head, wondering how Yu Hanzhou always thought that he was a sea king, “You don’t know Shuci, he knows much more about battleship mecha and even all warplanes than I do. He is a very powerful man, and we have been friends for three years and get along very well.”

“The three I chose for you are all experienced mid-level commanders.”

Yu Hanzhou was extremely persuasive, but not overly forceful in his attitude as he was giving room to respect Ming Huan’s decision.

“For me, Xie Shuci is better than any of the mid-level commanders.” Ming Huan said with certainty, “I know him, he’s really good.”

‘I read the original story!’

Xie Shuci was a genius researcher in mecha warships and leapfrog fighters, and no one knew more about warplanes than he did.

“But he’s an undifferentiated omega.”

Ming Huan didn’t like that, “What’s wrong with an undifferentiated omega? Can’t an omega fly a warplane? Can an omega only learn to arrange flowers and paint?

“No, I mean, omegas are more delicate and fragile. Perhaps, he is not willing to complete any cruel task.” Yu Hanzhou still looked at the several intermediate commanders in his hand, “You should not force him.”

“I won’t force him.” Ming Huan grinned, “I will protect him.”

MH often misunderstands YH’s words, through disliking him so much. I feel he often craves his acceptance and praise. MH seems at odds about him.
YH owed MH an apology, though.
Thank you for the chapter.

Poor demoted teacher 😅😞 also, yes, ml needs to apologize to mc 🤧

Ml is bad at communication but when he said that he did all of these to open up more possibilities for mc, he’s a bit okay now in my book.

Sometimes i wonder what would have happened to mc if the possibility of differentiation in the system is an omega instead owo. Like, maybe it wouldn’t be ml who would’ve adopted him. And maybe these wouldn’t have been his classes. Maybe a more restricted future too.
