Chapter 24: Differentiation

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Mimosa

The man stood like a pine outside the door, and his forehead hair blocked his eyebrows.

‘How could there be an omega pheromone smell in the house?’

‘Ming Huan, he
.’

After only a moment of hesitation, Yu Hanzhou used the remaining two inhibitors. It was a pity that the effect of the ordinary generic inhibitor on him was minimal, and he smelled the cold fragrance that was still faint, but like a pinprick in his head the moment he pushed the door in.

Ming Huan was leaning against the wall, and had shrunk into a small ball. The smell of pheromones was not too strong now, but the storm of mental energy was more fearful to the point that the light was bright and dim.

Yu Hanzhou took the thick bedding Ming Huan was wrapped in and directly unlocked Ming Huan restrictions. Ming Huan rolled all over after sitting on the closed aircraft to the hospital.

“Yu, Yu Hanzhou….” Ming Huan gasped, and his cheeks and neck were burning red. The young dragon had never burned so badly before and was almost lost in consciousness. Yet there were worse things than this.

–The family did not prepare an omega inhibitor.

Ming Huan’s surging emotions. The hot period of mania, right now there was not even any spare medicine to alleviate it.

This was because Yu Hanzhou did not even think that Ming Huan could differentiate into an omega.

He made a mistake.

The fact that Yu Hanzhou, who was always meticulous, made a mistake in judgment on such a major issue

This caused the usually bright and stubborn young dragon to whimper and burrow into his arms.

A small hand stretched out from the bedding, clutching Yu Hanzhou’s sleeve while whimpering, “Yu Hanzhou…. I, it’s so hard
.”

Ming Huan has never said this kind of thing, especially not to Yu Hanzhou.

During the cub period of military training, he fell and crawled many times without complaining a single word.

He was not one who would show weakness.

However, he was now nestled in his arms and kept saying that he was having a hard time.

‘How can it be? The more powerful the hatchling, the higher the probability of differentiation into alpha.’

‘Ming Huan, how could he differentiate into an omega?’

This was a situation that Yu Hanzhou never thought of.

He was not very good at calming people, and basically had no experience with omegas. The Federation’s admiral, who was invincible on the battlefield, wrapped his arms around the young dragon who was going through a painful differentiation period for the first time, “Ming Huan, hold on, we are almost there.”

The little dragon hatchling was very obedient.

The hot forehead burrowed into his arms. His ears were obediently attached to his jacket.

This was him being pretty dependent on him.

From the beginning to the end, the thin white hand that grabbed his sleeve did not let go.

Ming Huan’s body pheromone smell became stronger and stronger, and this time, Yu Hanzhou almost couldn’t hold him. His throat was stirred like a fire burning as he never had any omega’s pheromone affected him so much.

It was the first time that he realized that something like omega pheromones could really kill him.

In the match predictions, no one had more than a 10% match with him.

He was barely affected by any omega pheromones except for now.

Strange pain swept over the young dragon in his arms and drowned him.

Ming Huan’s breathing was loud, and his brow was slightly furrowed.

Yu Hanzhou did his best to hold him steady.

After a while, as if he didn’t know what he felt, he suddenly struggled and seemed to regain consciousness, “Why
. I feel…. So strange….”

“You’re differentiating.” Yu Hanzhou was concise.

“Yes, is why
.”

Ming Huan wanted to say something but looked down in the direction of his thighs. The thick bedding wrapped him up so tightly that even raising his head seemed a little difficult, and he seemed flustered, “It’s so, so strange….”

Yu Hanzhou paused and held his hand close as if to try to give him meager support for his mind in this way, “You seem to have immediately differentiated into omega.”

Boom.

His eyes filled with disbelief.

Omega, how can it be omega….” Ming Huan sat up in surprise on Yu Hanzou’s lap, “Aren’t I an alpha, aren’t I – not an alpha.”

“Sorry, it was a mistake on my part.” Yu Hanzhou held Ming Huan steady, “Don’t you fumble.”

It was the person in his arms who kept wriggling around, with a very uncomfortable look.

“Ming Huan -” Yu Hanzhou eyes couldn’t help but look at the back of Ming Huan’s neck, and he subconsciously wanted to speak in a rough and cold manner to stop him. Once it reached his mouth, the mouth closed and slowed down to say, “You listen to me, okay. “

Ming Huan choked for a moment, and his wet eyes were full of confusion.

“Oooh….”

Yu Hanzhou’s pheromone was crushingly powerful, so an ordinary inhibitor had little effect.

Whether it was because of the same bloodline or not, Ming Huan’s differentiation had just begun, and the smell of his pheromone was still in the beginning stage.

For him, it was as if numerous silver hooks were pulling at his heart, making his blood boil like a clamor and scurry. It was almost making him unable to repress his horns and tail.

Yu Hanzhou held Ming Huan flat, and his strong self-control made him resist the urge to mark him to his bones.

Ming Huan’s pheromone was more attractive to him than he thought.

Yu Hanzhou held his hands very gently, but his forehead was already seeping with a cold sweat.

The black opium mixed with the smell of white tea was getting stronger and stronger, and it soon stained every corner of the narrow craft.

Fortunately, it did not take long for them to reach the hospital.

After the greetings, the craft landed directly on the roof of the hospital.

Yu Hanzhou was affected by the pheromone and was also somewhat overwhelmed. No alpha dared to approach that flying machine, and only omegas or betas could hold him down.

His pheromone’s violence apparently brought about Ming Huan extremely bad influence.

It was like a vicious circle.

He opened his mouth gasping for air, and his face had been burned red. The whole body curled up without unfolding, like a cooked shrimp.

Yu Hanzhou took the exclusive inhibitor tossed over by the dean and put on the isolation patch.

The dean who knew the situation immediately asked several omega nurses to push Ming Huan directly into the isolation ward. Through a thin layer of glass, Yu Hanzhou saw Ming Huan struggling in the ward and inhaling a sedative before finally being injected with the omega inhibitor into the gland at the back of his neck, which was gradually getting hot and red.

The dean who had mentioned the inhibitor probably checked the situation of the young dragon and immediately proceeded to have someone prepare to do hormone sampling tests on him.

The whole process involved only betas, the dean, dragons of SS-mental energy level, as well as others that were involved in the treatment.

As soon as the analysis report of the test results came out, the dean called it up to check.

“He is not differentiating normally. He was emotionally overstimulated causing a mental energy storm, which catalyzed differentiation.” The dean frowned at Ming Huan’s disordered hormones and physical characteristics report before he turned his head to look at the admiral, “Did something happen recently?”

‘What happened to him?’

Yu Hanzhou choked on a word, and surprisingly did not even know where to start.

His alpha pheromone had a stress response, but he mistakenly thought that his differentiation phase syndrome only needles the omega pheromone. Even while waiting for the Junior commander exam, he deliberately transferred him to alpha quarters.

‘He was there.’

‘He must have been very anxious and uncomfortable.’

‘But even so, he passed the commander exam perfectly.’

‘And later, he flew by him to arrange the mission.’

‘The mission went awry and he narrowly escaped death in an explosion to protect an omega -/

‘Even so, he completed the mission perfectly.’

‘Ming Huan was a white feathered dragon.’

‘The most powerful dragon species.’

Yu Hanzhou always thought that he would become as powerful an alpha as him, so he had always been very demanding.

However, he didn’t think about it.

Ming Huan had the ability to be an omega.

Other people’s young omega childhood was smooth and steady, and they lived peacefully and casually.

In the isolation ward, Ming Huan slept very peacefully, but his eyelashes were wet and there were still traces of undried tears in the corners of his eyes. His cheeks were a sickly shade of scarlet.

‘–I feel so bad.’

The murmur of him when lying in his arms came to his ears once.

In addition to the fact that Ming Huan started his career as a young man, he was also a very stubborn and proud man who was very difficult to control.

However, he would still subconsciously shout the word whenever he encountered danger.

Yu Hanzhou’s mood suddenly became overwhelmingly heavy.

The terminal blinked a few times, and it was a message from a captain with whom he had a good relationship.

“Admiral, is this that cub of yours? This posting on the forum is going crazy.”

Yu Hanzhou came to the private forum that only the dragon clan could log into, and the main post at the top of it was a discussion post that included a picture of a teenager posted on the first floor.

It was Ming Huan.

Although the photo was very blurry, Yu Hanzhou immediately recognized the young dragon he had raised for three years.

“This is a screenshot of an auction this evening. I don’t know exactly which one it is, but this kind of auction is very focused on guest privacy, so it’s basically anonymous.”

[White feathered dragon, why do I look at these horns that are so much like white feathered dragons?!]

[Ahhhhh, if it really is, then isn’t it the pup that the admiral family raised?!]

[I heard that about him from just a few days out of the mission, is a very very powerful young alpha, if our family’s young omega later can marry such a dragon, I’d be happy!]

The post was hot.

The discussion degree still kept rising.

If Yu Hanzhou saw such news, the first reaction would be  for him to be secretly annoyed in the heart – Ming Huan has waited to do something that was too imprudent, how can people take such photos?

At this moment, his eyes fell on these words of praise.

They say this young alpha looked really good.

They said that this child was excellent, and it was said that he passed the Junior commander exam before he was an adult.

They said that this young juvenile dragon was super well taken care of by all the omegas and betas in the military school, and was super good.

The young dragon obviously did not pass Ming Huan a few times, but they made it sound like a good idea.

Yu Hanzhou saw the word ‘alpha’ and his fingertips unconsciously tightened.

“This evening, the circle exploded, and you are to give  permission, is this not that your adopted son? Three years of interstellar court trials are not published outside, this is indeed your adoption of this white feathered dragon! You don’t know, the capital circle has the hope that the young omega of the high-level dragon family will be able tie the knot with you!”

Yu Hanzhou did not return the message.

‘Ming Huan he–’

‘Was that good.’

“He seems to be very stimulated.”

The dean looked at the data analysis report and pointed out a few abnormal data points to show to the admiral.

“Did you scold him again?”

Today in the study, Yu Hanzhou did scare the little juvenile dragon, who was presumed to be vaguely in a bad mood.

It brought the man to tears.

While squatting on the floor, he kept sobbing and wiping tears from his eyes.

Thinking of that scene, Admiral Yu’s jawline tightened slightly, “Yes.”

“Young Master Ming has been very well behaved. He is a very good young dragon. A child like him that’s born into any family is a child that would make his parents immensely proud. You are not married and do not have an omega around to take care of, so you cannot and do not know how to bring up a child- This is very different from regulating subordinates. Little children, ah, are to be coaxed.”

The dean also sighed and wanted to say something as he looked at the ward where the young omega was heavily sleeping. He closed the medical record book in his hand, “What’s more, he is not an alpha.”

“A soft young omega that’s being frightened in this way is prone to mental health issues and  a loss of confidence, Admiral Yu, although you are a hero of our Federation, your status is noble. However, this young dragon is also a very precious child of our dragon family, if you can’t raise him well and continue to intimidate this young dragon in this way, our hospital is entitled to appeal to the interstellar court to reassign the [foster] authority.”

This was said very officially, leaving no mercy.

Although Admiral Yu’s mental energy was powerful, in a high position as a powerful dragon, they had to look up at him in admiration and awe.

He was a young omega white feathered dragon that was at SSS-level mental energy, more rare than an alpha.

The more powerful the dragon, the higher the probability of differentiation into an alpha.

The fact that this young omega was a white feathered dragon was simply unbelievable.

In any advice and judgment of this child, the dean had to be careful and cautious. Therefore, this time the wording reminded Yu Hanzhou how much more serious and solemn this was from last time.

He was even considering whether or not to issue a written recommendation to the hospital to let this young dragon go to a new and more suitable home that preferably had an omega and alpha in it in order to spend this last little period of differentiation and grow up healthy.

Fortunately, Yu Hanzhou did not blame him for his tough attitude and heard the dean’s words.

“Undifferentiated omega-” There was a pause, “Do they like to cry?”

“They don’t like to cry. Young omega dragons are very gentle and like to laugh.”

Through the transparent material partitioned ward, the little young dragon’s face was slightly a lighter scarlet, and his breathing was much more even. The high bridge of his nose was delicate and beautiful in the soft light.

His lips were thin, and were gently pursed flat, not as full as they were in the past.

He looked very haggard.

He was an omega.

Yu Hanzhou’s palms were a little sticky, and there was a cold sweat from holding Ming Huan tightly and suppressing his impulses.

The transparent wall reflected his face, and Ming Huan’s lying figure overlapped.

He only had a slight sense of reality this time.

The dean’s voice came from a long distance.

“They only cry when they are aggrieved.”

***

Ming Huan woke up, and his body hurt as if it had been dismantled once. He looked at the white walls of the hospital and the instruments that kept ticking around him, and suddenly fell into a kind of panic.

‘How could he be in a hospital?’

The disconnected memories came back in one place.

He remembered that last night’s dinner had been a superb red wine steak, and that he had drunk half a bottle of spirits beautifully afterwards. Then–

The memories began to have disconnects.

Then he seemed to.

‘Didn’t! Succeed! Buying! The agricultural planet!’

Ming Huan’s heart stuttered and he checked his account balance – it was not a dream, he really didn’t get it!

The memory became clearer and clearer.

A tidal wave poured into his mind, forcing him to accept reality.

‘It was as if he had to blow up at the venue, and ended up blowing up a competitor, and after only two price increases, he couldn’t afford it!’

Ming Huan grabbed his hair and whimpered before he shrank under the covers in chagrin.

He hadn’t yet smoothed this one out.

He suddenly noticed that his body was not strong, especially his penis and the back of his neck.

It strangely seemed not very strong.

He tried a little leg, and reached out to carefully touch the hot, prickly flesh of the back of his neck.

The sensation was familiar, and he ripped open his loose pants before he put his hand down.

There was a rumble.

It was as if a shock of thunder had struck him down.

It had again appeared but not quite.

The second half of the memory poured into his mind at once.

He differentiated, mama, ah, he reached differentiation! The world of differentiation seemed to be related to mental energy, and mental energy was affected by emotions. Come to think of it, the last time when Xie Shuci differentiated was during a crisis.

‘This was not important.’

‘What’s important was.’

‘Why!’

‘would he!’

‘differentiate into an omega?’

Didn’t the differentiation prediction say that there was a 99.9% chance of differentiation into alpha?

How could he!

Like this!

It’s too hard.

He was really too unlucky.

Ming Huan grabbed the hospital pillow and started rolling around on his back again –

‘Why?! The situation! It could be worse!’

‘Did I turn into an omega because he was so emotionally angry? I didn’t mean to be so angry
. God, give me a chance to re-differentiate!’

Ming Huan’s mind was in turmoil, and a lot of thoughts came to mind, but the one that lingered the most was –

‘In this world, omega have to participate in the [match prediction].’

If he differentiated into an omega, then his match prediction with Xie Shuci must have been invalidated. He would need to redo the exact match after differentiation.

If his match with anyone exceeds 60%, the marriage match would be protected by the Federation law. Then the alpha one would have the power to decide whether to get engaged or not.

He didn’t like the feeling of being unilaterally chosen and then pushed toward.

It was like a beast trapped in a cage.

‘Choke! Breath!’

‘Is this what they call adding insult to injury?!’

Why was it that he was the one who missed this juncture of the agricultural planet, making him differentiate into an omega again?!

Ming Huan’s entire dragon self cracked.

‘This is what human suffering is….’

Ming Huan grabbed the pillow and rolled around in pain, almost falling off the bed. He gave a few kicks to the iron railing but did not expect that the bed frame was quite sturdy and did not collapse from his kick.

Instead, his toes hurt .

He let out an “ooh”, and covered his toes as he began to rub angrily.

‘Eh heh.’

‘Now even a hospital bed wants to work with me, right?’

Ming Huan held his force with the tail hooked to the bed block. He gave a fierce yank with his back supported at the window and his legs lifted up as there was fierce inertia at the white wall.

A clang.

The bed rail did not hit the wall.

With the loss of support, the bed collapsed.

The bed collapsed into a slope with a loud bang, Ming Huan stirred his legs but could not stop the downward trend. This was followed by the soft snow-white quilt falling to the ground like a white doughnut before it rolled several times along the way.

Bump.

The head hit the wall again, and the heart was full of a fire. The tail swung around, and the pillow was cut to pieces like snowflakes fluttering around the room.

The situation happened so quickly that the ward was quickly flooded with nurses and doctors.

The bed was reinforced with rare metal that was specially created for this little dragon, why was it still torn to pieces?

It seemed like the young omega was angry.

The cubs in the differentiation stage are the most agitated. Not to mention that he also had differentiation period syndrome.

Due to the fear of his species, no one actually dared to approach his room.

They could only keep a distance and observe a little.

The little dragon mass in a tattered quilt that was quietly squatting against the wall was like a triangle of rice balls wrapped in nori. The top of the head and the eyelashes were covered with broken fine cloth.

The sky was full of cotton due to the small dragon’s tail that was unconsciously swinging out of anxiety. As if a gust of wind blew through the dense reeds by the river, the fine cotton wool was startled up again.

Finally, a cluster landed on Ming Huan’s nose.

“Ah-choo-“

He was tickled by the cotton that touched his nose and sneezed three times in a row.

Just as he sneezed the last time, the door of the room was pushed open at once.

Yu Hanzhou was carrying Ming Huan’s change of clothes, daily necessities, and freshly prepared hot food. He stepped on the cotton spread on the floor.

He looked at the ward that he had left for a short period of time. The ward had suddenly changed drastically.

Yu Hanzhou, “….”

Ming Huan, “!!!”

“You–“

‘You are going to demolish the hospital.’

Yu Hanzhou did not say the words, but his expression already appeared to be serious. Ming Huan looked down, and his eyes were obviously shrinking a little.

It was like he knew that he did something wrong, and he rolled up the quilt against the wall to stand up.

The small tail swayed around more powerfully.

As a result of the carelessness, the curtains were cut off again with a slap.

Ming Huan, as if frightened, bared his head and went behind the half-cut curtain. The long and slender legs were wearing loose hospital gowns, revealing the bare straight knees and calves. The upper half of the body was covered by the curtain. Ming Huan heard the sound of footsteps approaching, and saw a pair of leather boots standing in front of him not long after.

‘I am…. What are you doing?’

‘Why are you hiding like this? It’s silly.’

Ming Huan didn’t know what to say, but he stood stiffly behind the curtain with his mouth flattened.

He sensed that the curtain was about to open and tugged on the corner of the curtain.

He didn’t want to be an omega, and he didn’t want to be forced to match.

‘What’s more, he didn’t want to–’

‘See Yu Hanzhou in such a way.’

‘He definitely would be scolded.’

Maybe since it’s the differentiation period, Ming Huan’s heart felt so sad, aggravated, and pained that the half of the thin curtain cloth in his hand seemed to be the last thing separating him from the harsh reality which made him unwilling to let go.

“Ming Huan.”

There was no attempt to pull back the curtain.

Instead, he let go of the hand and called out his name through a heavy curtain.

Ming Huan heard the rustling of footsteps exiting, then the sound of a door closing – as if everyone was out.

He and Yu Hanzhou were the only ones left in the ward.

“Let’s go home.”

‘Go home, go back where? Back to the admiral’s residence?’

‘Let’s not even talk about the pre-matched love.’

‘The reason why Yu Hanzhou adopted him was because he was a white feathered dragon with a 99.9% probability of differentiating into alpha, right?’

That’s why he was so strict when teaching and disciplining him. This was done in order to train him to be a good senior commander, or even an admiral as good as Yu Hanzhou.

‘Yes, he has now differentiated into an omega.’

‘In Yu Hanzhou’s case, it was simply useless, right?’

There are no precedents for omegas to become a senior commander. In this world, omegas are fragile items that are scarce in number.

There was no one who would put the fragile and valuable glazed vase on the battlefield of gunfire.

Ming Huan seemed to have suddenly figured out something, and the bottom of his eyes suddenly lit up.

‘Ah, he was useless to Yu Hanzhou!’

‘Then Yu Hanzhou would give up custody, and let him go!’

It’s like a gambler who had lost ten games in a row and grabbed the last chance to turn the tables.

Ming Huan said in a dumb voice, as if he had failed a major exam, “I, I am differentiated.”

“Mn.”

“I seem to be… an omega.”

“… …Mn.”

“I, I
.”

“Ming Huan,” On the other side of the curtain near him, Yu Hanzhou’s voice was as calm as ever but seemed to be laced with  dryness, “Ming Huan, you’ve slept for three days and haven’t eaten anything. I brought you something to eat.”

Ming Huan rubbed his flattened stomach.

It turned out that he was indeed quite hungry.

He slowly walked out from behind the curtain. Yu Hanzhou handed him a change of clothes and a small lunch box.

“Do you want to take a shower first, or eat first?”

“Eat first.” Ming Huan replied sullenly.

Yu Hanzhou took him to the lounge at the back of the ward and put the lunch box on the small dining table before he took a soft pillow that he put behind Ming Huan to make him less tired of sitting.

Ming Huan’s dragon body shuddered, and he glanced at Yu Hanzhou with confused eyes as he thought that he was strange today.

‘No matter.’

‘Anyway, this should be a good opportunity.’

‘A good chance to get rid of Yu Hanzhou once and for all.’

“Since I’m all differentiated into omega, then, then-“

Ming Huan raised those excessively beautiful eyes, and the long eyelashes were wet from his intention. The eyes were somewhat flickering and evasive, as if contemplating Yu Hanzhou’s attitude.

The raven-feather eyelashes hang down, covering the honey-like pupil color.

“Then you should throw me out.”

Yu Hanzhou never expected that when Ming Huan woke up, his first question to him was this so he immediately froze.

Ming Huan’s soft voice was full of temptation.

The thin lips were slightly pursed, like a somewhat nervous deer that was hiding in the bushes to observe the reaction of him.

Yu Hanzhou’s heart was suddenly stuffy.

“Why should I kick you out?”

“Don’t you always….” Ming Huan wanted to speak but stopped, as if deliberating his words, “Often when I make a mistake, you’re waiting to kick me out. You should not have been able to bear living with me since long ago. Now that I’ve differentiated into omega, you’re relieved. I can’t become a commander, and you don’t have to bother about me….”

Ming Huan bowed his head and tried to make himself appear less offensive.

He neither blamed Yu Hanzhou for him being harsh, nor any of his resentment.

Lest to provoke him an unhappy expression, but also to receive a lesson.

It was better to go in a calm and quiet manner.

An appalling silence fell between the two.

Ming Huan raised his head slightly and saw that Yu Hanzhou was staring at the top of his head. He was caught off guard in his eyes after the deep and complex light at the bottom of that eye instantly closed up and turned elsewhere.

His jawline was tightened.

‘Did you agree?’

‘Or are you thinking about it?’

Ming Huan could not guess.

“I
. I’ll pack my things tonight and make sure I don’t cause you any trouble.” He added in a panic while lowering his eyes and trying to hide the anticipation that leapt from them.

Yu Hanzhou looked at the top of Ming Huan’s well-behaved and low-hanging head. His fingers involuntarily curled up slightly.

The nails gently scratched on the warm lunch box, ringing an abrupt scratching sound.

‘It’s hard to say that in these three years.’

‘Ming Huan had always felt -’

‘He would really throw him away.’
