Chapter 12: Defeating God Ji

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

That night, the All-Star Game officially opened at the S City Sports Arena. The All-Star Game was divided into four parts: the first day had the opening ceremony and the rookie challenge match, and the second day featured the solo show and the All-Star match.

The rookie challenge match was for new players who had registered as professional players for less than a year (including exactly one year) to independently choose to challenge senior players.

The solo show allowed the three players with the highest votes to select opponents for a PK (player kill) match.

The All-Star match randomly divided ten All-Star players into two groups of five to compete against each other. Because the All-Star players were not distinguished by profession, many times the groups did not even have a proper lineup, making it more entertainment than competition. The audience enjoyed watching rivals fight side by side and loved the funny scenes of junglers playing mages or mages playing marksmen.

The opening ceremony started at 7 p.m. Zhao Ze and the MOE team finished dinner at 6 p.m. and entered the arena early through the VIP passage together. The professional league had arranged dedicated areas for each registered team to prevent fans from disturbing them.

MOE’s performance in the playoffs had been average, so their seating was arranged slightly toward the back. But since the spots were provided by the league, the view was good, and no unrelated people disturbed them.

The All-Star players had designated seats. Ji Jin wanted to watch Ji Xingxing a bit longer, so he hadn’t gone to sit yet. The arena was crowded and noisy, so Ji Jin took out a leash he hadn’t used in a long time to tie Ji Xingxing—it was a green little dinosaur one that was quite eye-catching.

When they were in the UK, Ji Xingxing rarely saw so many people and kept running wildly around the MOE team’s area. The little kid had pretty good stamina. Eventually, Ji Jin couldn’t keep up and loosened the leash, letting Ji Xingxing run freely—

But Ji Xingxing didn’t dare run wildly; he picked up the leash carefully and handed it back to Ji Jin, only daring to run around him.

Ji Jin said, “You need good self-discipline, or daddy will lose you!”

Ji Xingxing calmed down, but soon other teams gradually arrived in the player area. The most conspicuous was the IKW team, which had won the professional league championship this year, sitting in the front row, with the LPF team behind them.

As more people arrived, Ji Xingxing dared not run around anymore and obediently sat next to Ji Jin.

At that moment, it was nearly 7 p.m., and the audience had basically all taken their seats. The All-Star Game opening ceremony officially began.

First, the host opened the event, introducing the development of the league and the teams, then explaining the All-Star Game content, followed by a speech from the league chairman, Xu Jinyi.

These things were quite boring to esports players, and everyone was sleepy, even familiar players from different teams started making gestures and chatting across their team areas.

Naisi even secretly left his team and quietly sat next to Ji Jin, letting Ji Xingxing sit in his arms.

“Your son’s face is so soft,” Naisi said like he had a new toy, rubbing Ji Xingxing’s little cheeks with both hands. “It’s like egg whites, so fun.”

Ji Xingxing looked at his dad pleadingly, hoping his dad would rescue him from this torment.

Ji Jin noticed the plea, reached out, and pulled Ji Xingxing into his arms, then began rubbing his son’s little face.

Ji Xingxing, feeling utterly resigned, collapsed in his dad’s arms.

“So petty?” Naisi sneered.

“Petty? Why don’t you have one yourself then?” Ji Jin bragged.

Naisi didn’t expect Ji Jin to be so shameless. He put his arm around Ji Jin’s shoulder and whispered into his ear, “Why don’t you have one for me then?”

Before he finished speaking, Lu Yao in the front row seemed to have heard something, turning his gaze toward Ji Jin.

Naisi felt uneasy for no reason and instinctively avoided Lu Yao’s eyes. Then he thought, since he was so close to Ji Jin, what was there to be uneasy about?

He looked back at Lu Yao, but Lu Yao had already looked away.

At that moment, the host announced that Chairman Xu Jinyi had finished speaking, and it was about time to invite the rookie stars and All-Star players on stage to receive their certificates of honor.

Cheng Pian was a rookie star, and Ji Jin was an All-Star. No one watched Ji Xingxing, so Zhao Ze had to take him. The little kid was unwillingly moved from his dad to Zhao Ze’s arms and was unhappy.

But because Ji Jin promised to take him out to play, he grudgingly agreed.

The host read the names on stage, and the lights quickly shone on the person, then projected onto the big screen.

The first to be “lit up” was naturally Ji Jin.

The MOE team’s uniform was black and gold and had already been given to him. The team wasn’t short of money and hired the best designers, making the already eye-catching Ji Jin look even more… presentable.

Of course, these were Naisi’s words.

Today, Naisi was also wearing the LPF team uniform. LPF’s overall colors were white and red, and the clothes were dazzlingly white, like a proud white peacock. Standing among a crowd, he was always the first one people could spot.

But that was just usual. This time, Ji Jin and Naisi sat together. Because they were coaxing Ji Xingxing, the two of them took a step later than the others to settle into their seats. They held hands as they sat down, and the spotlight shone on them.

“Ahhh! Grandpa, wake up! NaiJi is real! They’re sitting together! And holding hands!!!”

“Ahhh, what NaiJi? I don’t believe it. It must be JinSi CP, they’re definitely together! In my lifetime! I’ve come back to life!”

“Naisi and God Ji holding hands! What an earth-shattering beautiful love story!”

The All-Star game was live-streamed online, and the big screen behind the host showed the most liked comments. Suddenly, the screen was flooded with CP (couple) comments about the two.

“See? Thanks to me, otherwise who would have noticed you.” Naisi didn’t feel awkward about being caught; instead, he got a bit narcissistic.

Ji Jin reached out and gave him a slap on the back of his head to wake him up.

The whole Legend Reappearance esports scene knew that Ji Jin and Naisi were good buddies. Not only did they interact during livestreams and call each other out, but they even mentioned each other during matches.

Especially now that female players were increasing, the JinSi CP topic attracted tens of thousands of followers. Many people at the venue were shipping them, and when Ji Jin gave Naisi a little nudge, the whole arena erupted in screams.

Ji Jin was the first to walk onto the stage, followed immediately by the announcement of Lu Yao’s name. Whether on purpose or not, Lu Yao blocked the space between Ji Jin and Naisi and followed Ji Jin onto the stage.

Naisi was third, and once he got on stage, he couldn’t stand next to Ji Jin. He “disappointedly” glanced at Ji Jin and stood beside Lu Yao.

Fourth was the league’s only active female Alpha player, Yu Huanhuan. Although most people now distinguished gender by ABO, most males still preferred females, especially cute girls. Huanhuan was an Alpha but looked cute and harmless, and her gameplay was also excellent, so she ranked fourth in popularity.

Fifth was TAO’s mage, Jiao Yue, whose ID was “Moon.” Jian Yue started as a high-appearance game streamer, streaming since he was fifteen or sixteen, later founding the TAO team single-handedly, even older than Ji Jin by a year.

The top five formed a group, and Xu Jinyi personally awarded certificates and small trophies, while the host introduced them to liven up the atmosphere.

“Long time no see, God Ji,” the host naturally started with Ji Jin, who had retired for two years but remained popular. However, he dared not ask anything too cheeky and only asked properly: “We’ve seen many reports about you recently. What are your plans now that you’ve returned to the RPL?”

Before Ji Jin could answer, a corner of the stadium erupted with countless boos and many people flipped him off. Most were IKW fans and Ji Jin’s hardcore haters who had come a long way not to cheer for IKW but specifically to taunt Ji Jin.

“Oh wow, quite a crowd today,” Ji Jin turned to look at the many floating middle fingers in front of him and instead laughed. “Thanks, everyone, for still supporting me after all this time.” Then he looked back at the host and began: “As for plans… of course, to win the championship. I’ve said it many times already; there’s no point asking again.”

The host thought, “I really shouldn’t have asked that question. No, I shouldn’t ask him anything.” He forced an awkward smile and then turned to Lu Yao.

“Lu captain, leading IKW to this year’s championship was amazing. Do you have any goals now? Like the world championship?” the host asked.

“Goal… is the championship,” Lu Yao took the mic and said quietly. He was naturally a man of few words, rarely hosting press conferences; Ko Yu usually helped him respond.

The host fell silent again but made one last useless effort: “Anything else? Like personal pursuits?”

“To beat God Ji.” Lu Yao thought for a moment and glanced at Ji Jin standing beside him.

Ji Jin was bored, looking down at the mic, and didn’t expect Lu Yao to cue him suddenly, so he was a bit stunned. Lu Yao said it seriously, his gaze focused on Ji Jin.

That look contained not only fighting spirit but also a sticky kind of affection, as if deliberately reminding him of something.

There was a story behind “beating God Ji.” When Lu Yao first joined the youth training camp, he showed extremely excellent talent. Many people favored him, some even claiming he was better than Ji Jin.

But in the graduation exam, Ji Jin defeated him 5-0. Later, because they were on the same team and Ji Jin retired, they never had a real competitive match.

Lu Yao’s wish was understandable.

However, rumors of their antagonism had been circulating for some time, and the press conference two days ago had revealed conflicts. Now this news came out again…

Xu Jinyi wiped sweat from his forehead nearby.

Until the host cleared his throat and dryly said, “God Ji has returned; surely, there will be many chances for you to spar with each other.”

“How does it feel for senior Naisi to come to the All-Star game today?” The host looked at Naisi, asking for help.

“How does it feel?” Naisi raised an eyebrow. “It’s held every year, and I’ve come so many times that it’s nothing special. If it weren’t for coming here, I’d be on vacation with Ji Jin.”

Ji Jin couldn’t help but chuckle and then circled around Lu Yao to give Naisi a wink.

The JinSi flag appeared again on the screen behind them.

Host: “…Maybe I should change the channel next time. Your esports circle is too complicated.”

Because the host was hit hard earlier, he quickly asked the last few players one or two questions and ended the session.

Ji Jin carried the trophy and certificate as he walked back, intending to return to the team to see Ji Xingxing. Naisi walked a few steps forward, wanting to talk to Ji Jin.

But when Ji Jin looked up, he found the MOE team’s area no longer had the little dinosaur’s figure.

  1. “Why don’t you have one for me then” HOLY HELL NAISI HAS ME IN MY FEELINGS. How does Ji Jin not fold. I’m afraid the Jinsi propaganda is working
