Chapter 21: Secret Lover

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

“Brother, are you free today?” came Lu Yao’s cheerful voice over the phone. “I heard MOE is already on holiday.”

Ji Jin thought to himself, That’s some quick info. Wasn’t that just a hint that the holiday had started, so he shouldn’t use it as an excuse to reject him?

“I don’t have anything planned today,” Ji Jin replied after a moment’s thought. It was actually perfect—if Lu Yao was free, he could return the computer to him. “Do you need something? If not… I accidentally took your computer during the All-Star game; I’ll bring it back to you.”

“Computer?” Lu Yao instinctively repeated, then paused, saying no more.

The only time someone could have taken the wrong computer… was when Ji Jin was in his room. Lu Yao recalled that day and suddenly blushed. Then he remembered that Ji Jin had come over while he was editing videos—maybe his “little secret” had been seen.

“Did you open it?” Lu Yao felt his heart tighten.

“Huh? The computer?” Ji Jin stared at the screen, feeling nervous for the first time, and instinctively lied, “No… I didn’t open it.”

After saying that, Ji Jin immediately regretted it. But since the words were out, he couldn’t take them back and had to stick to the lie.

“Since you’re free… bring the computer and Ji Xingxing downstairs. I’m waiting for you,” Lu Yao’s voice sounded relieved, no longer tense like before.

“What’s the point of bringing Ji Xingxing?” Ji Jin asked. He usually took Ji Xingxing with him when going out, but since Lu Yao specifically said to bring Ji Xingxing, maybe there was some other reason.

“You’ll see when you come out. I’m already downstairs,” Lu Yao chuckled softly. “Hurry up, don’t keep me waiting.”

Ji Jin knew Lu Yao wouldn’t harm him, so he agreed and quickly packed up himself and Ji Xingxing. About ten minutes later, Ji Jin stepped out holding Ji Xingxing’s leash.

Sure enough, Lu Yao was downstairs, leaning against a white SUV, staring at his phone. When he looked up and saw Ji Jin with Ji Xingxing, he quickly came forward.

With Lu Yao’s status, the SUV was somewhat modest, but at least it was low-key. Ji Jin glanced at the white car, thinking how poor he was that he couldn’t even afford such an SUV.

“Here’s your computer.” Ji Jin felt a bit guilty just looking at it. He had checked multiple times to make sure it was shut down with no traces before packing it up.

Lu Yao didn’t seem suspicious and just tossed the computer into the backseat. “Get in, brother.”

“Where are we going?” Ji Jin still wasn’t sure what Lu Yao had planned.

Lu Yao ignored the question and reached out to ruffle Ji Xingxing’s soft, smooth hair.

“Uncle’s taking you to the amusement park, how about that?” Lu Yao crouched down to get on the same level as Ji Xingxing. Since he was naturally handsome, crouching didn’t create distance between them.

Ji Xingxing seemed to like Lu Yao. Previously, when Lu Yao held him, the child didn’t struggle or get shy. Now, hearing “amusement park,” his eyes went wide and bright like little lightbulbs.

“Daddy!” Ji Xingxing tugged on his leash, looking hopefully at Ji Jin as if asking permission.

Those hopeful eyes made Ji Jin’s heart melt. He couldn’t say no without the little guy bursting into tears.

“Let’s go,” Ji Jin gave in, unable to resist those eyes.

Ji Xingxing was so happy he nearly jumped.

Ji Jin held Ji Xingxing in the front passenger seat. Lu Yao was young but drove steadily. The morning rush was over, and soon they arrived at the amusement park.

It wasn’t a weekend, so the park wasn’t crowded. Lu Yao bought tickets for all three of them and took the VIP entrance.

Ji Xingxing’s eyes lit up as soon as he entered, making Ji Jin feel a bit guilty as a dad. Even when abroad he had more free time, he rarely took Ji Xingxing out since the child was so young. After returning home, he was too poor to rent a decent place, let alone bring Ji Xingxing out often.

After signing with MOE and getting a salary, he trained and played matches overtime, leaving no time for outings. On summer break, he just stayed home playing games. Compared to Lu Yao, he hadn’t been very thoughtful.

Ji Xingxing ran around so fast that Ji Jin barely managed to keep hold of the leash. Eventually, Ji Xingxing stopped by the carousel, staring at it longingly.

“Daddy, I want to ride this!” Ji Xingxing tugged on his leash. Today’s leash had a cute little cat design, making the baby look even more adorable.

Under such cuteness, both Ji Jin and Lu Yao quickly gave in. Since Ji Xingxing was so small, Ji Jin held him on the ride while Lu Yao took photos below.

After the carousel, Lu Yao took Ji Xingxing to the bumper cars. Though Lu Yao drove steadily before, he raced the bumper cars like a pro, scaring Ji Xingxing into shutting his eyes and curling tightly into Ji Jin’s arms multiple times.

By the time they saw the roller coaster, Ji Xingxing’s excitement was gone, replaced by a flat, unimpressed look.

Lunch was at the park’s fast food place. Ji Xingxing loved the little toy that came with the kids’ meal and bought an adorable little backpack.

By the end, Ji Xingxing was exhausted and climbed onto Lu Yao’s shoulders.

The last ride was the Ferris wheel. Though better at night, Ji Xingxing was too tired to wait, so they went in the afternoon.

On the Ferris wheel, which was normally Ji Xingxing’s nap time, he leaned back against the chair, eyes barely open, but stubbornly refused to close them, wanting to stay awake for the new experience.

He fell asleep on the way down anyway.

On the drive back, Ji Xingxing slept soundly in the back seat while Ji Jin and Lu Yao sat upfront. Lu Yao drove slowly, wanting to stretch out the time with Ji Jin, but it was over in a blink.

“Brother, are you happy today?” Lu Yao parked outside the MOE apartment, casually looking out the window. His hand rested on the steering wheel, gently stroking the leather.

After chasing Ji Xingxing all day, Ji Jin was honestly a bit tired. But seeing Ji Xingxing happy made him happy too. Still, he sensed Lu Yao’s question had a deeper meaning.

“To win your favor, one has to… appeal to your tastes,” Lu Yao looked up at Ji Jin, a complicated emotion flickering in his eyes. “I guess if Ji Xingxing likes it, then brother must like it too.”

Ji Jin’s heart skipped a beat.

In Lu Yao’s eyes, the child was born from him and some unknown man. Now, Lu Yao pursued him… even going so far as to flatter a little baby.

“I thought you wouldn’t like Ji Xingxing,” Ji Jin tested.

After all, Ji Xingxing might have been an obstacle to Lu Yao, and also reminded Lu Yao that he once had a past hard to speak of.

“I didn’t dislike him,” Lu Yao said as he looked at Ji Xingxing sleeping soundly in the back. “A very cute little baby, looks a lot like my brother.”

— Only you think Ji Xingxing looks like me, Ji Jin thought. No matter how you looked, Ji Xingxing looked very much like Lu Yao, only Lu Yao himself didn’t realize it.

“Aren’t you afraid that Ji Xingxing’s father will come looking for him?” Ji Jin deliberately asked. “Aren’t you afraid everything you’ve done is… just a futile effort?”

“I believed that my brother still had some place for me in his heart,” Lu Yao’s pupils shrank slightly when he heard this question, then he suddenly smiled brightly. “If Ji Xingxing’s father came, I would become my brother’s secret lover in the country, your hidden treasure.”

His tone was joking, but his eyes were not.

At that moment, Ji Jin saw an unshakable determination in Lu Yao’s eyes. If someday someone really claimed to be Ji Xingxing’s father and wanted to reconcile with Ji Jin, he was truly willing to become a hidden—

Secret lover.

Ji Jin instinctively covered his chest, feeling as if his heart was about to jump out.

“I… I’ll go back first,” Ji Jin said, reacting as fast as in a game, quickly opening the car door trying to escape with Ji Xingxing in his arms.

However, his speed wasn’t faster than Lu Yao’s, who was already prepared. Ji Jin’s fingers had just touched the car door when he was pushed back against it, pinned down by the tall Alpha in front of him.

The scent of plum wine was rich and sweet. Because the Alpha’s heat period was near, he appeared especially unstable and temptingly alluring to the Omega.

“Isn’t big brother going to… give his secret lover a goodbye kiss?” Lu Yao pressed Ji Jin against the door, letting out a hurried low laugh, voice hoarse and seductive, eyes fixed on Ji Jin’s lips. “After all, big brother promised first. Charging some interest… isn’t too much, right?”

Ji Jin’s heart skipped a beat. But the next moment, just as Lu Yao’s face moved closer—

“God Ji, bad news! Your… Omega identity was… leaked, along with photos! Zhao Ze sent the photos and the news…”

Ji Jin saw through the gap by Lu Yao’s shoulder the shocked face of… Cheng Pian.

Cheng Pian stared wide-eyed at Ji Jin and Lu Yao’s posture, even forgetting to retract his outstretched hand.

“I… I sent it to you…”

This scene caused tons of damage to the still immature Cheng Pian’s soul.

Ji Jin swore he heard Lu Yao click his tongue in dissatisfaction.

  1. CP doesn’t seem surprised by the revelation; maybe seeing what happened at the previous event made him suspicious. I did wonder whether he wasn’t attracted to JJ, too.
Poor LY; always getting interrupted 🤭
Was it Alex? Or someone we wouldn’t imagine?
Thank you both for the chapter.
