Chapter 36: Intimacy without Boundaries

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

Ruan Yu had zero experience in nest-building, and his strength was failing, so the little fish nest couldn’t be called tidy at all. It was piled up crookedly, like a bird’s nest clumsily built by a clumsy bird using feathers and twigs.

Layers of bedding were densely spread on the bed board, and because Gu Xiuhan didn’t have enough, many of Ruan Yu’s own bedding was added as well.

The delicate little fish favored soft and skin-friendly fabrics, piled up in a messy heap. The top layer was a material similar to velvet but even more comfortable, with many folds emitting a faint glow, appearing thick and smooth.

The sheets were a very light blue, in line with Ruan Yu’s preferences.

Such a light color would normally make people look dark, but when paired with skin as fair and smooth as satin, there was no room for darkness. Instead, it made the whole person appear even fairer and more translucent, like a small piece of ice floating on the polar sea.

When he heard the door creak, a round little head lifted from the velvet soft pillow, round eyes half-closed from drowsiness, struggling to look towards the door.

The days of courtship had left Ruan Yu somewhat dazed. He had planned to confront Gu Xiuhan as soon as he saw him, accusing him of enjoying himself outside and not bothering to come back. But when the idiotic thoughts churned in his head for a moment, he forgot his lines. Ultimately, true to his nature, he complained softly and pitifully, “Why did you take so long to come back…”

It melted the heart like spring water, wanting nothing but to embrace this little fish tightly.

“Sorry.” Gu Xiuhan removed the terminal from his wrist, wading through the piles of blankets and pillows on the ground, and walked slowly closer, eyes lowered, pupils deep black, “The journey was too far.”

Rarely could he maintain even a semblance of composure, his voice trembling with warmth.

“What place did you go to?” Ruan Yu frowned.

“I’ll take you next time.” Gu Xiuhan’s gaze swept over the adorable little fish nest inch by inch, his voice hoarse, “You’ll know when you go.”

But Ruan Yu’s focus had long since shifted. His question was just a passing remark, his moist tail flicking inward, his nose nervously sweating, yet boldly inviting his mate, “You… come in.”

His “come in” meant entering his newly built little fish nest.

With his mind clouded and inexperienced, this fish nest was built quite cramped. Ruan Yu, being so slender and petite, could only squeeze in uncomfortably, with half of his tail sticking out. It was impossible for Gu Xiuhan, with his broad and tall stature, to fit in completely.

Gu Xiuhan hesitated for a moment, using his knees to support the edge, pressing his hands against the narrow gap beside Ruan Yu’s body, hovering above, trying his best not to damage Ruan Yu’s carefully constructed nest. But inevitably, he collapsed the “wall” made of clothes with just two kisses.

“I took so much effort to build it,” Ruan Yu’s flushed face immediately drooped, also feeling disdainful of Gu Xiuhan’s intelligence, “Why are you so clumsy.”

As he apologized, Gu Xiuhan pinched Ruan Yu’s soft cheek, half forcing the still grumbling little fish to open his mouth, then kissed him passionately, tinged with a hint of bitterness.

The presence of his mate seemed to trigger a special sensation.

Ruan Yu’s skin had already turned into an enticing peachy hue.

“This feels… um…” Ruan Yu struggled to speak, “a bit… lacking.”

Out of mermaid instinct, Ruan Yu needed a sense of security and protection all around him at such moments.

He wriggled his tail to try to repair the fish nest that Gu Xiuhan had messed up.

“I’ll hold you, baby,” Gu Xiuhan embraced him and coaxed, “Just the same.”

His voice was low and magnetic, slightly hoarse from the affectionate teasing, rubbing against Ruan Yu’s earlobes like sandpaper, leaving Ruan Yu dumbfounded, obediently silent.

There was a clear difference in size between the two. Ruan Yu could fit completely into Gu Xiuhan’s embrace.

Gu Xiuhan’s military pants and shorts, casually piled at the edge, were hanging heavily with the weight of the belt buckle, crashing to the ground.

As if awakened by this sound, Ruan Yu struggled uneasily, his face showing anxiety.

A sticky, cloying coo floated out from between the two who couldn’t be more entwined.

If the difference in size were merely in terms of bone structure and muscle, it would be fine.

But unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

The little mermaid of the sub-Aquilon type was petite in every aspect, with delicate and refined bone structure. Even his wrists and ankles could be easily gripped by Gu Xiuhan’s single hand with room to spare.

The same went for his facial features, including his nose, ear fins, and small, plump lips.

Except for his eyes, which were large and beautiful.

The fish tail was naturally long and slender. Even the most rounded and plump parts seemed thin and narrow when compared to Gu Xiuhan’s standard special forces physique. Ruan Yu felt it was impossible for them to fit together successfully.

Ruan Yu was torn between wanting to proceed to the next step and being afraid. He felt like crying, “It might hurt a lot.”

“It won’t,” Gu Xiuhan assured him solemnly, “Don’t worry.”

“How would I know if it won’t hurt…” Ruan Yu muttered.

“It won’t, baby, trust me.” The usually serious and rigid military man unexpectedly showed this side at a critical moment. With a chilly and convincing tone, he wove a convincing but deceiving tale, “I’ll be very careful.”

“If you feel uncomfortable, I’ll stop anytime.”

“Ruan Ruan… you can command me.” Gu Xiuhan said, grabbing Ruan Yu’s shoulder with a soft touch, pressing his hand against his own heartbeat, speaking with an obedient tone, “I will obey absolutely.”

The feeling of being able to command an Imperial Admiral made Ruan Yu feel somewhat elevated.

As a result, with red eyes and a red nose, he foolishly agreed.

Whatever he said, Gu Xiuhan had to obey.

If he said enough, then Gu Xiuhan had to stop even if he didn’t think it was enough.

A grand general wouldn’t lie about such matters.

However, to Ruan Yu’s utter surprise, while Gu Xiuhan indeed didn’t lie, he also didn’t seize any opportunity to be commanded throughout the entire process.

His mouth was never idle.

Just when he was about to hum out a command, Gu Xiuhan would kiss him and swallow up the second half, leaving Ruan Yu dizzy and breathless, tears streaming down his face.

Strictly speaking, this situation didn’t count as not keeping his word, so Ruan Yu couldn’t really blame Gu Xiuhan.

What kind of tactic was this…

He really messed up the fish.

No wonder Gu Xiuhan was so good at fighting.

Amidst the haze of tears and regret, Ruan Yu still remembered to praise Gu Xiuhan in his heart.

It looked like he was completely disoriented by the ordeal.

This bout of courtship lasted for several days.

On the first day, Gu Xiuhan was like a hungry wolf, bullying Ruan Yu until he couldn’t even speak properly. Apart from still speaking human language, he seemed hardly human in other aspects. Then, he reluctantly regained a glimmer of humanity, knowing when to let Ruan Yu catch his breath and not truly disassemble the little fish. He became increasingly adept at fooling around with the fish, tenderly stroking the small mermaid’s hair, kissing his forehead, wrapping Ruan Yu in a blanket to let him nap in his arms for a while, or patiently feeding him some food when Ruan Yu lost his appetite during the courtship frenzy.

After a few days, Ruan Yu felt like he had become thinner. The thin layer of tender flesh on his limbs and face seemed to have disappeared, leaving only a softness in his belly when touched. Sometimes, it even felt a little swollen, as if something could be poked out.

Although it was embarrassing and some areas were sore enough to make him want to hit someone, Ruan Yu had to admit that even a mermaid who valued spiritual love enjoyed this feeling very much.

It wasn’t just about instinct.

More importantly, it was the complete and thorough intimacy from body to heart, inside and out, belonging entirely to each other, warming the heart to the point of aching. It was a happiness overflowing with tenderness, like diving into a warm, sunlit cotton nest.
