[Summary]
It’s probably a story where the brave, determined, honest, and kind (but directionally challenged) Hero unintentionally causes chaos in an attempt to rescue the princess, ultimately “saving” the Demon King. This is not a serious Western fantasy story. It features a brave, determined, honest, and kind (but directionally challenged) Hero × a not-so-serious Demon King with cleanliness quirks and a beautiful appearance.
Note: The names mentioned are fictional, and the story falls under the genres of strength pairing, fantasy, magic, and an alternate world with a Western fantasy theme.
Protagonist – the Demon King (Francis); the Hero (Owen)
Chapter 1: Once Upon a Time, There Was a Demon King
Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Once upon a time, there was the Demon King. He was unmatched in power, cold and merciless, with a peculiar fondness for raising all kinds of magical beasts. He dedicated himself to the study of one particular topic…
—On the Possibility of Replacing Demon Soldiers with Magical Beasts.
And so, in the Land of Death, he raised an army of these creatures.
The humans had no choice but to stay on guard.
—A small human folk rumor, Part I
It was the first clear day after His Majesty the Demon King’s winter hibernation. As the sunlight touched him, he awoke at the top of his towering castle, opened his eyes, and coldly brushed away the withered leaves clinging to his body.
One by one, the leaves fell. He watched with narrowed blue eyes, icy and unblinking, as each leaf drifted through the air. His gaze followed every arc, every turn, until the leaf finally landed on the ground and was carried away by the slow, lingering wind, vanishing into the distance.
Only then did His Majesty turn his gaze to the next leaf, his hands never pausing as he repeated the same meticulous motion. One leaf after another. One after another…
When at last every leaf was gone, when there was not a single scrap of debris left at his feet, the Demon King finally stopped. His body was clean. His surroundings were spotless. Good.
The Demon King nodded in satisfaction and leapt down from the castle’s highest spire. He landed in the courtyard, where servants who had not seen him for the entirety of winter froze at the sudden sight of him. They quickly bowed and greeted him. The Demon King gave them a curt nod before pointing casually at one of the maids and ordering her to prepare hot bathwater and fresh clothes.
The maid scurried away. Unfazed, His Majesty strode back to his chambers with an expression as cold and imposing as ever. He entered a room befitting the status of the Demon King, walked up to a mirror equally worthy of his title, and raised his head.
What he saw staring back at him… was a disaster. The Demon King’s hair—his hair—was an unholy mess. Dust clung to the tangled strands, and brittle leaves were lodged within them. Not a trace of its usual golden luster or noble elegance remained. The Demon King froze.
So… he had just walked through half the castle looking like this? No. Worse—he had walked through half the castle looking like this!!!
Snatching the leaves from his hair, he flung them to the ground and crushed them beneath his boots, grinding them into dust with deliberate, merciless stomps. Only then did he run a hand through his hair and grab the nearest comb, dragging it through his locks with ruthless efficiency.
Knock, knock.
From the wide-open doorway came a knock. The Demon King was still viciously battling his hair.
Knock, knock.
The knock came again. He ignored it, continuing to tug and comb with single-minded ferocity.
The maids, wisely, made no further attempts to interrupt. Instead, they quietly stood outside the door, holding up neatly folded clothes and setting matching masks beside them.
At last, after what felt like an eternity, the Demon King emerged from his chamber. His hair was once again flawless—long, sleek, lustrous, and radiantly golden, befitting his royal majesty.
A trail of broken hairs littered the floor behind him. He didn’t spare them a glance. With purposeful steps, he approached the clothes waiting outside his door and examined them.
Good. The first set—pure black—was acceptable. A robe as dark as shadow, adorned with merciless iron trims and menacing, roaring patterns. Accompanied by a mask that covered his entire face. Keep it.
The second set—blood red—was acceptable. A crimson cloak, drenched in the imagery of slaughter, with resplendent gold accents and cunning, twisting vines. Paired with a horned mask that concealed the upper half of his face. Keep it.
The third set—deep purple—was… An evil, sharp-lined coat, marked with vicious blade-shaped pendants and stark, straight stripes. Paired with… a mask that only covered one eye and had a flimsy feather dangling off it? Get. That. Out.
…
After inspecting every outfit, His Majesty the Demon King returned to the first set of clothes. He picked up the mask and fastened it over his face. “This one.”
The maid bowed and followed closely behind, carrying the chosen outfit with her. The Demon King’s pale, elegant face was now completely hidden beneath a terrifying black mask, carved with a ghostly, howling expression.
…
When the Demon King was finally dressed in his black robes, masked and cloaked in an aura that screamed Do. Not. Approach., he stood before a mirror worthy of his station. He looked at his reflection and nodded. Good. This was what a Demon King should look like.
This was what a Demon King should look like when he was about to go care for his precious little darlings. This was what a proper, clean, and orderly Demon King should look like… right before he went to lovingly “care” for his little darlings. Fierce. Evil. Cold and merciless.
