“Jiang Yi, I’m sorry for what happened to you.”
Jiang Yi heard Luo Songran suddenly say this and was a little puzzled, “Why do you say that?”
Luo Songran hesitated, then gestured towards his second cousin, meeting his second cousin’s warning eyes. He silently withdrew his hand, feeling like he had dragged Jiang Yi into a mess. At that moment, he suddenly felt nauseous, his face turned pale, unable to hold back, he covered his mouth and walked to the bathroom.
Duan Yizhou also captured the strong scent of omega and alpha pheromones mingling in the air at that moment, glanced at Yan Nanchen, “Your pheromones are too strong. Although he can’t smell them, he’s sensitive to pheromones because he’s pregnant. Tone it down a bit.”
After speaking, he immediately followed Luo Songran to check on the situation.
Yan Nanchen was speechless.
Jiang Yi, seeing the situation, also wanted to get out of bed, but was stopped by Yan Nanchen’s hand on his shoulder, looking at him in confusion, “What are you doing? I want to go and see.”
“What can you do if you go? With President Duan here, are you still afraid of anything happening to RanRan? He cares about RanRan more than anyone else.”
Hearing his boyfriend say this, Jiang Yi leaned back into the chest behind him, then thought of something, “Beiheng, we have already permanently marked each other, which means we are already mates. Do you think your family will agree to us being together?”
“I don’t like you calling me Beiheng. Didn’t we agree to call each other husband?”
“Oh.”
Yan Nanchen thought, it’s not a matter of whether his family will agree to Jiang Yi being with him now, but he’s afraid his family will persuade Jiang Yi to be with him. He could imagine that if his family knew about this, the one who would suffer the most would be him. And if his cousin found out about this, he wouldn’t fare well either.
He rested his chin on Jiang Yi’s shoulder, a subtle color appearing in his eyes, “Jiang Yi, I won’t let you leave me.”
Completely unaware, Jiang Yi laughed, “What if I want to break up with you, will you still forcefully keep me? That’s not your style.”
“I might.” Yan Nanchen stared at Jiang Yi’s handsome profile, his tone indifferent.
“Hmm?” Jiang Yi seemed to notice the change in his boyfriend’s tone, turned his head in confusion, and was then kissed on the neck. He looked surprised, but slowly sank under the influence of the powerful alpha pheromones.
In the bathroom, the two of them peeking at the two outside simultaneously made a sound of disdain, both dissatisfied with Yan Nanchen.
“My second cousin is definitely a scumbag, right, honey?” Duan Yizhou, seeing him hugging the door frame and still trying to peek outside, worried he might bump into it, pulled him up, “Let’s not watch them for now. Do you still feel like vomiting?”
Luo Songran shook his head, “No, but I want to eat snail noodles, the extra spicy ones.”
Duan Yizhou’s face changed suddenly.
Seeing his expression, Luo Songran frowned slightly, a little unhappy, “You said you would get it for me!”
Duan Yizhou raised an eyebrow, thinking that he had promised last time because Luo Songran wasn’t in his right mind, he still remembered, “Where did I promise? Are you dreaming?”
“If you don’t get it for me, I’ll be angry.” Luo Songran crossed his arms and stared at him, his eyes a bit fierce.
Duan Yizhou was instantly helpless, “Fine, but it won’t be spicy.”
“No, it has to be extra spicy.”
“Then you can’t have it. If you want it, it has to be not spicy. You choose.”
“I won’t choose. I’ll go get it myself.” Luo Songran said, then put down his arms and walked out of the bathroom. Just as he was about to leave, Duan Yizhou grabbed him by the back of his collar from behind. He turned around in frustration, “You’re grabbing me again!”
“Now you can only stay under my watch. Wherever I am, you have to be there. Don’t think about sneaking out to eat something alone. If I find out, I’ll spank you.”
This was heard by Yan Nanchen outside. He held Jiang Yi and looked at the two coming out of the bathroom, his gaze falling on Duan Yizhou, “What, are you still resorting to domestic violence?”
Duan Yizhou smiled dismissively, “I’m not as bad as someone else, deceiving body and heart, a scumbag.”
Yan Nanchen was speechless. Luo Songran nodded in agreement.
Only Jiang Yi was puzzled. He glanced at his boyfriend, “So you’re talking about your younger brother? Do they all know that he deceived someone’s feelings?”
The expressions of Duan Yizhou and Luo Songran were the same, both looking at Yan Nanchen as if to say, You dare say that? You’re ruthless.
Yan Nanchen stared at their identical gazes, gritting his teeth and reluctantly said, “Yes.”
Luo Songran immediately followed, “Yes, yes, it’s Yan Nanchen, my second cousin, who’s a scumbag.” After speaking, he smiled and looked at Yan Nanchen, “Right, dear ‘big cousin’?”
Yan Nanchen was speechless. Enough already.
“Big cousin, you should still talk to second cousin properly. Deceiving someone’s feelings will end in a miserable way. Even if he truly likes him, you must prepare yourself for the possibility of not being able to win him back in the end.”
Before going to eat snail noodles, Luo Songran wanted to talk to Jiang Yi, so he sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at Jiang Yi seriously. “Jiang Yi, you are my lifesaver. I will remember this forever. If you suffer any grievances with my cousin, whatever you need me to do, I’m willing to help you.”
Jiang Yi seemed to sense something. “Are you saying Beiheng would let me suffer grievances?” He immediately denied, “No, he’s such a gentle person. How could he let me suffer grievances, right, Beiheng?”
Yan Nanchen’s heart sank instantly. This was bad. What should he do?
In the end, in order not to arouse Jiang Yi’s suspicion, he could only endure his regret and agony, forcing himself to smile, “Yes, I won’t let you suffer grievances.”
Seeing his second cousin’s complex expression, Luo Songran coincidentally caught his pleading eyes not to say anymore. That kind of humility, full of struggle, perhaps out of unwillingness, he could only avert his gaze and stand up, pretending to be relaxed, and said, “Oh, I’m hungry. I won’t bother you guys. Oh right, Jiang Yi, I’ll come see you again when you’re discharged. Take care.”
“Okay.” Jiang Yi nodded.
Luo Songran smiled and bid them farewell until he left the ward. His mood became somewhat depressed and heavy, silently allowing Duan Yizhou to lead him.
The two reached the parking lot.
“Are you still worried about Jiang Yi?” Duan Yizhou took out the car keys, unlocked the car, opened the passenger door for Luo Songran, and watched him bend over to sit in the car.
“I’m very worried.” Luo Songran, after sitting down, let Duan Yizhou fasten his seatbelt, “This kind of deception is completely different from what I and you did. It’s not that what I did was not bad, it was also bad, but what my second cousin did, he’s torturing himself, I know. But has he thought about how painful it is for Jiang Yi?”
“The feelings are real, but he used my big cousin’s identity to deceive Jiang Yi. Now he’s still bearing my big cousin’s identity and marked Jiang Yi. What if Jiang Yi finds out? Can the mark be removed?”
Duan Yizhou closed the passenger door, walked to the driver’s seat, opened the door, and sat down.
He naturally understood what a complete marking meant, indicating that they were already mates, a relationship where no one else could intervene. It was unlikely for two people with low compatibility to complete a permanent marking smoothly because there would be rejection. Since they had completed a marking, it meant that their compatibility was at least seventy percent or above.
Hearing Luo Songran say this, he shook his head, “Washing off a complete marking is very painful, it can make someone lose half their life. I don’t want Jiang Yi to bear such pain.”
He felt heavy in his heart after saying that. But he was also worried that Jiang Yi might do it because that’s his personality, daring to love and hate.
Suddenly, Luo Songran moved forward and hugged Duan Yizhou in the driver’s seat.
Duan Yizhou instinctively held him back, feeling a little stunned by his sudden hug. Then he smiled and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I suddenly feel a little scared.”
“Why?”
Luo Songran thought of what his second cousin did, and he felt even more deeply how bad his past behavior of deceiving feelings was. The more he thought about it, the more he couldn’t accept his own mistakes. He buried his face in Duan Yizhou’s shoulder and muttered, “We don’t have a mark between us. I’m afraid you’ll suddenly stop loving me.”
Why is ABO gender so contradictory and opposing? When a beta falls in love with an alpha, they may fear not having a mark will make the other person feel insecure and worry about not being able to comfort them during their sensitive periods, only being able to watch them suffer. When an omega is deceived by an alpha, wanting to wash off such a deceitful mark after accepting a thorough mark requires enduring immense pain.
Love cannot be perfect. These imperfections are inevitable due to the uncertainties and constraints of ABO gender.
“How could that happen? Don’t you trust me?” Duan Yizhou could hear the unease in Luo Songran’s tone and probably guessed that it was Yan Nanchen’s matter that reminded him of the past, “I’m willing to accept all your flaws, time and time again. I’m willing to patiently wait for you. That shows I love you.”
“Sometimes I worry that you won’t feel secure, and I don’t know how to make you feel secure without a mark. There will inevitably be many omegas around you, and if there are uncontrollable factors, what should I do?”
“Stupid.” Duan Yizhou indulgently smiled and dropped a kiss on top of his head.
Luo Songran raised his eyes faintly, “I’m not.”
Duan Yizhou hugged him again, gently and seriously saying in his ear, “Although we don’t have the constraints of a mark, I can still restrain my loyalty to love you.”
“Why?”
“No reason, just because I love you. I can’t find anyone else in this world who can make me ignore the factors of the mark and the inevitable circumstances.”
The man’s voice echoed in the car, so gentle yet so firm.
Tears welled up in Luo Songran’s eyes uncontrollably. He suddenly felt so moved. “Duan Yizhou, can you say that to me again?”
“Of course.”
Duan Yizhou patiently repeated the sentence to the little rascal.
“I want to hear it one more time.”
Duan Yizhou smiled and repeated it once more.
As Luo Songran listened, tears flowed down his cheeks. He pressed his moistened eyes against Duan Yizhou’s shoulder and choked out, “Say this again to me when we get married. I want everyone to hear it.”
“Why?” Duan Yizhou couldn’t help but laugh when he heard him cry.
“So they’ll know how much Duan Yizhou loves me,” Luo Songran said softly, “and I’ll also tell them that you taught me how to love someone, how to respect the person I love.”
Duan Yizhou felt comforted by these words. He could imagine that if the little rascal said that to him on their wedding day, he might really cry.
After saying this, Luo Songran lifted his head and said earnestly, “Anyway, I’ve firmly remembered my second cousin’s negative example. I’ll never make such a low-level mistake again!” Then he raised his hand and swore.
Duan Yizhou found him adorable and chuckled, reaching out to ruffle his hair. “I know you won’t. Let’s go, I’ll take you to eat something.”

LS really annoyed me earlier in the novel, he was so selfish, but he’s almost always admitted to himself, and then openly, when he’s been wrong. He’s grown so much as a character.
YC is stuck between a rock and a hard place. To permanently mark JY before coming clean, though… yep, scumbag.
Thank you both for the chapter.
