Chapter 31: Game Over

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

His body wasn’t fully dry, but Zhou Kai put on the clothes he had worn earlier. When he bent over, the swollen and tender spot on his lower back throbbed, and as he looked at the disordered bed, thinking about everything that had happened on it, his eyes instantly grew warm with tears.

He tried hard to keep his eyes wide open, holding back the tears. Zhou Kai didn’t bother with the windbreaker anymore, clutching it in his hand, turning around to grab his backpack. He nearly ran, enduring the discomfort in his body, gritting his teeth as he left He Ye’s bedroom and hurried down the stairs barefoot.

He Ye heard the movement outside from the bathroom, standing under the hot water with his eyes wide open, the sting of water in his eyes sending sharp pulses through his heart.

He endured, suppressed… self-tortured…

Suddenly, He Ye felt like he couldn’t breathe. He raised his hand and grabbed his neck, mouth open, but the sensation didn’t ease. The scenes in front of him kept shifting, one after another, finally stopping on Zhou Kai’s face when he pushed him away, hurt and angry, and He Ye couldn’t move past it.

His clenched fist slammed into the wall. He Ye didn’t even care whether the faucet was still running, his face full of panic. He quickly turned around and hurriedly opened the bathroom door.

Zhou Kai endured and endured, but when he couldn’t manage to put on his shoes downstairs, he finally broke down and cried.

He felt wronged and sad, thinking to himself that he was really pathetic. He had practically thrown himself at He Ye, only to be kicked out again.

What was this about? Why did things have to be like this? Why should He Ye make him, Zhou Kai, feel so wronged and sad?

If He Ye never intended to be with him, then why say things like that, making him hope for something more?

“Damn…”

He wiped his tears away and laughed through his sobs.

It was his fault, he had misunderstood. He Ye wasn’t trying to be with him; he was just playing with him. He wasn’t interested in being with him at all, just playing with him!

He was so stupid and naïve, offering himself up to He Ye, letting him belittle and bully him!

“Damn… bastard…”

Furious, he threw the shoes he couldn’t put on onto the floor, then decided not to wear them at all. He grabbed his windbreaker along with the shoes and stood up to open the door.

Fearing he had gone too far, He Ye only put on a pair of pants before rushing down the stairs. As he turned the corner at the bottom of the stairs, he saw Zhou Kai standing by the entrance, struggling with the door.

The tension in his chest finally released. He Ye slumped his shoulders, staring at Zhou Kai’s back as he slowly walked down, relieved that he hadn’t fixed the broken door, which allowed Zhou Kai to come in but not easily leave.

Hearing footsteps, Zhou Kai reacted like an angry cat. He threw the clothes, shoes, and backpack he was holding onto the ground, grabbing the door handle with both hands and pulling it hard, but no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t open it. Instead, he ended up hurting and reddening his hands, growing more frustrated and anxious.

The footsteps stopped behind him. Zhou Kai gave up struggling, wiping his eyes with his hand. He turned around and stared directly at He Ye, stepping aside and pointing at the door, angrily saying, “Open your damn door.”

He Ye looked at his red, swollen eyes, hearing the nasal tone in his voice, and knew he had been crying.

Why was Zhou Kai crying?

He Ye understood, but he wished he didn’t. He wished he didn’t understand at all.

Taking a deep breath, He Ye stepped forward and kicked the bottom of the iron door, then grabbed the handle and pulled it up forcefully.

When Zhou Kai saw the door open easily under He Ye’s movements, he froze for a moment. As the door opened wide, he bent down to pick up the things on the floor, really planning to leave. But before his hand could even touch the door, He Ye pushed it closed with force.

Not only did He Ye close the door, but he locked it as well.

Zhou Kai, seeing He Ye’s actions, was infuriated. He pushed He Ye, trying to open the door himself, but He Ye grabbed his hand, stopping him. Zhou Kai immediately started struggling, kicking and cursing.

He asked He Ye if he was crazy, saying that he was leaving, that He Ye had let him leave, so why was He Ye doing this now?

Zhou Kai’s emotions were out of control, and the tears started to flow. He cursed He Ye and cursed himself, feeling more uncomfortable in his body and even worse in his heart.

“Damn, I’m so pathetic. Why am I like this?”

“He Ye, are you sick? You’re sick as hell. Can you at least be human for once?”

“Are you a snake? Are you a little bastard? Don’t you have any feelings at all?”

“Damn, why the hell do I like you?”

“I must be crazy to like you!”

“I… ah!”

Seeing Zhou Kai venting his frustration in such a way, and hearing him say “I like you” in such a painful tone, He Ye’s eyes turned red. He smiled, raised his hand, spread his fingers, and grabbed Zhou Kai’s hair, pulling it downwards so that Zhou Kai was forced to tilt his head back.

Opening his mouth, He Ye bit down on Zhou Kai’s Adam’s apple. Waiting for Zhou Kai to cry out in pain, he released his bite, tilted his head up, and used his mouth to block Zhou Kai’s lips. His tongue also invaded, going straight into Zhou Kai’s throat and then retreating immediately, licking the tongue inside and sucking on it.

With tears in his eyes, Zhou Kai looked at He Ye’s equally sharp and cruel eyes, and he whimpered, giving up his struggle. As tears continued to fall, he pressed his lips against He Ye’s, moving his numb tongue to lick He Ye’s.

He Ye released his grip on Zhou Kai’s hair and moved his hand down to Zhou Kai’s waist, pressing his body against him and pushing him against the door, deepening the kiss.

It was a kiss without technique, but it was deeply moving and passionate.

Zhou Kai stopped crying, and his breathing became rapid. He put his hand on He Ye’s waist, wanting to hug him.

But before Zhou Kai could hug He Ye, He Ye broke the kiss.

A strand of saliva connected their lips, and He Ye wiped it away. He looked into Zhou Kai’s eyes, and a flash of reluctance crossed his eyes before being buried.

“Don’t like me,” He Ye kissed Zhou Kai’s lips again and said, “Don’t like me, it’s not worth it.”

Zhou Kai looked at him, being kissed by him, listening to his words, feeling both confused and hurt. His voice trembled as he choked out, “It’s too late… When you do this… how can I…” take back my feelings?

He Ye, tell me, teach me, how can I stop liking you?

How can I be like you, and pretend not to like someone even when I do?

He Ye looked at Zhou Kai and slowly pulled away from him. He acted as if nothing had happened, picked up Zhou Kai’s bag and clothes that were thrown on the floor, and then reached out to take Zhou Kai’s hand.

Zhou Kai remained in the position he was in when He Ye was holding him.

He Ye glanced at him and looked away, saying, “It will be dawn in three hours, and I’ll take you back when it’s light.”

Zhou Kai moved his leg, and He Ye said, “Don’t bother me anymore, and I won’t bother you either. That’s it.”

He Ye felt that the game was over.

He and Zhou Kai, it was impossible.

  1. Bloody hell HY; says one thing, acts the opposite. Poor ZK is stuck on the rollercoaster of HY’s emotions.
Thank you both for the chapter.

  2. So sad. For He Ye to said, “Don’t like me, it’s not worthed.”, he must be devastating. And for Zhou Kai who was the being told to, how confused and sad he must be. No matter what, I’m glad He Ye decided to chase Zhou Kai, not letting Zhou Kai leave in hurting heart. If only he can be honest with Zhou Kai, if only his condition is not that desperate…. Sigh. Hope everything will turn out fine.
