Luo Songran woke up feeling hungry. As he opened his eyes, he stared blankly at the ceiling for a moment before realizing he was already in the hotel. The sky outside was still bright. Right, there was a time difference between D country and the mainland, so it was indeed morning here. That meant it was time for breakfast.
“Duan… Yi… Zhou…” He lazily called out for Duan Yizhou, but there was no response. Reluctantly, he pushed aside the covers and sat up.
Perhaps due to his extreme hunger or his still groggy mind, Luo Songran felt a bit disoriented after sitting up. He sat on the edge of the bed, staring into space for a while before remembering what he should do next.
He needed to find something to eat.
Ding dong…
Just then, the doorbell rang, interrupting his thoughts. He looked up at the sound.
“Master Luo, are you awake?” The voice sounded like one of the bodyguards who accompanied him.
Luo Songran stood up and walked to the door, saying, “Yes, I’m awake.”
Opening the door, he indeed saw two tall bodyguards dressed in black standing outside. Not seeing Duan Yizhou made him a little upset. Didn’t that man realize he was angry earlier? Now, not being visible and leaving only two bodyguards behind, what was going on?
“Where’s Mr. Duan?” he asked.
“He’s in a meeting. He said if you woke up and wanted to go out, we would accompany you. Is Master Luo hungry? Shall we take you out for a walk?” one of the bodyguards replied.
Luo Songran frowned. Meetings, meetings, and more meetings. Was that all they did all day? Suddenly, an idea popped into his head, and a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. His eyebrows gradually relaxed as he looked at the two bodyguards.
“Let’s go!”
Since Duan Yizhou wasn’t around, he could eat whatever he wanted. No need for plain porridge and pickled vegetables. No need to diet either!
The hotel was located in a bustling area of the D country’s capital, and there was a street known as Huaxia Street, renowned for its international cuisine. It featured specialties from various provinces and cities of China, attracting many visitors.
In the midst of the diverse crowd, there was a pregnant man who stood out.
With fair and delicate features, wearing a loose hoodie that couldn’t conceal his pregnant belly, and accompanied by two tall bodyguards exuding a strong aura, he commanded attention and respect, giving off an aura of ‘do not approach.’
“Master Luo, barbecue is too hot. Mr. Duan said you shouldn’t eat it.”
“Master Luo, cakes contain eggs, and you’re allergic to egg whites, so you can’t eat them.”
“Master Luo, the food outside isn’t hygienic. Shall we go to a restaurant?”
“Master Luo, it’s a bit sunny out here. Shall we go to the mall instead?”
The bodyguards tried to stop Luo Songran from entering any restaurant they passed by. Essentially, there was no place Luo Songran could easily enter with them around. This made him so angry that he didn’t even want to speak anymore.
As Luo Songran passed by an ice cream shop, he smelled the chocolate flavor he loved so much. He stood at the door, unable to move his feet, his mouth watering. But he was stopped by the bodyguards again.
“Master Luo, ice cream is too cold for you to eat while pregnant.”
Luo Songran stared at the bodyguards with a resentful expression, his chest heaving up and down. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he sat down on the curb across from the ice cream shop, propped his chin with his hands, and burst into tears. Tears flowed uncontrollably, making him look pitiful.
The scene attracted the attention of many people passing by on the food street. Seeing such a beautiful pregnant man crying, anyone would instinctively think he had been wronged, especially since the two tall men behind him didn’t look like the ones being bullied.
The two bodyguards were frightened. They hurriedly squatted down beside Luo Songran, trying to comfort him.
“Master Luo, please don’t cry. You can tell us if something’s wrong.”
“Yes, yes, it’s not good for so many people to see you cry, right?”
Seeing Luo Songran crying like that, both lone Alphas felt a bit weak in the knees, not to mention the pitiful crying. But as bodyguards, they couldn’t afford not to carry out the task assigned by Mr. Duan, which was to monitor this little pregnant husband and prevent him from eating randomly.
“Just one,” Luo Songran pleaded, holding up a finger and shaking it earnestly. “Just one bite, please? I haven’t eaten in so long. Your boss doesn’t let me eat anything, and he didn’t even give me food on the plane. It’s like he’s abusing me.”
The bodyguards were speechless. If they hadn’t been on the same plane, they might have believed him.
Seeing the two alpha bodyguards unmoved, Luo Songran thought, ‘Alright, you’re not showing mercy, so I won’t either. Let’s see whose face is thicker.’ With that, he let out a loud cry, “Help me!!!”
As he stood up to leave, his cries attracted the attention of many people nearby. The two bodyguards immediately grabbed onto Luo Songran, trying to stop him from leaving, which only made him cry even louder.
Luo Songran tried to break free from their grip, but due to the difference in strength, he continued to cry, knowing he wasn’t afraid of losing face. After all, why couldn’t he be upset when he wasn’t allowed to eat anything?
He continued to cry and solicit sympathy from passersby, saying, “Can you help me? My family won’t let me eat, so I escaped, but now they want to take me back.”
His tears flowed realistically, and his words were full of emotion, making everyone who saw him feel like he needed help. Even the two bodyguards became targets of disdain, and some people even thought of calling the police.
“Should we call the police?”
The bodyguards were taken aback. They looked helplessly at the crying Luo Songran and glanced at each other before reluctantly agreeing, “Buy, we’ll buy.”
Luo Songran’s tears stopped instantly, and the grievance on his face turned to delight. He quickly wiped away his tears with the back of his hand and waved to the onlookers, “It’s okay, it’s just a misunderstanding. You can all go now.”
The sudden change in his demeanor left the bodyguards speechless. His face changed so quickly.
The two alpha bodyguards could only grit their teeth and buy him an ice cream. They even instructed the staff to put it in a cup and to give him less. The staff couldn’t help but feel surprised. In all their years of business, they had never encountered a customer like this before. Most people wanted more, but here they were being asked for less.
Luo Songran took the cup, frowned at the insufficient amount of ice cream, and complained, “This shop is stingy. Is this all the ice cream I get?” As he spoke, he used a spoon to scoop some into his mouth.
The rich chocolate ice cream melted in his mouth, making him feel extremely satisfied.
“Sirs, I still want to eat barbecue,” he said, taking advantage of the situation to make another request.
The two bodyguards remained expressionless, knowing they had to supervise him strictly.
Seeing them ignore him, Luo Songran hummed coldly, held up his spoon, and began to cry again, “Help! Someone won’t let me…”
Before he could finish, one of the bodyguards’ foreheads started to throb visibly. Hastily, he said, “Buy!”
Luo Songran’s tears stopped again. With a satisfied expression, he nodded and said, “I also want to eat cream puffs.”
One of the bodyguards immediately said, “No, you can’t. Cream puffs contain egg, and you’re allergic.”
As soon as he finished speaking, they saw Luo Songran burst into tears again, looking as if he were deeply hurt. Holding the spoon, he cried as if he were being bullied by them.
“Sob… I won’t eat it. Can’t I just smell it?” Luo Songran cried, reaching out to them with his hand open, palm up. “I’m so miserable. I can’t eat anything, but at least smelling it should be allowed, right?”
The two bodyguards were overwhelmed by Luo Songran’s tears. Unable to do anything, they reluctantly let him sit in a shaded area for a while before going to buy the food separately.
Luo Songran had initially been sitting under a parasol outside a coffee shop, eating his ice cream, but as he ate, he noticed a cake shop across the street and suddenly wanted cake. He knew he couldn’t eat cake with eggs, but he really wanted to.
So, he threw the empty ice cream cup into the trash and walked over to the cake shop across the street.
The door to the cake shop had a string of wind chimes hanging from it, and as Luo Songran pushed the door open, the chimes produced a melodious sound.
“Welcome,” said a familiar voice in Mandarin. Luo Songran looked up and saw a young man standing beside the cake display counter, wearing an apron. He looked distinctly Huaxia. The man had a handsome and gentle demeanor, wearing a white shirt and black pants, giving off the vibe of a decent family man.
The shop was still empty, giving it a somewhat desolate air.
“What would you like?” the man asked, approaching Luo Songran with a warm smile, as if he were a gentle breeze.
Luo Songran inwardly praised how good-looking the man was but quickly looked away. He walked over to the cake display counter and looked down at the cakes inside.
Perhaps it was the internal struggle between eating or not eating, but he felt a bit conflicted.
The man stood beside the cake display counter, watching the young man who seemed very young in his light blue hoodie, looking particularly small. He saw the young man looking torn and hungry, as if he were about to jump into the glass case, and couldn’t help but smile gently. “Which one would you like?” he asked.
“Is there a cake without eggs?” Luo Songran looked at the man sideways.
The man found the question amusing. “A cake without eggs? Would that still be called a cake? All cakes contain eggs.”
Feeling disappointed by the answer, Luo Songran lowered his head. He muttered quietly, “I’m allergic to eggs, so I can’t eat cakes with eggs, but I really want to.”
Watching him fiddle with his hands on the glass case, pointing at the black forest cake, the man observed all of the young pregnant man’s actions. After a few seconds, he smiled and asked, “Do you want to make a cake without eggs yourself?”
“Can I?” Luo Songran looked up at the man, his eyes suddenly brightening.
“Of course, because I’m the manager.”
So, in the open kitchen of the cake shop, the man taught Luo Songran how to make a cake without eggs, completely unaware that Mr. Duan had already come here.
