This mission went smoothly, although a few Sentinels were injured, their injuries were not severe, and they could recover after resting for two days with timely treatment.
Under the assistance of advanced medical equipment, Lu Cheng’an’s wound healed rapidly. Mohr checked him and found that the muscles around his wound had recovered completely, his sturdy arms looking powerful and his muscle lines very appealing. Sentinels indeed had much better physical fitness than guides.
Lu Cheng’an drove away the alien creatures threatening humanity, rebuilt the defense network of the safe zone, and then led the team back to the capital planet.
Next, they accepted two more missions under the command of the White Tower. Due to Lu Cheng’an’s rich combat experience, they managed to overcome the dangers each time.
In the blink of an eye, a month passed, and the retirement applications of Zou Lin and Presto were officially approved, about to leave the Eagle Special Forces.
Zou Lin was the guide accompanying the Eagle Special Forces, and Presto was Lu Cheng’an’s good friend. For their wedding, Lu Cheng’an naturally wouldn’t miss it. So, Lu Cheng’an applied for two days off from the White Tower, allowing their comrades to attend the wedding together.
Mohr hadn’t known everyone for long, but in just a month, Sister Lin had patiently taught him, meticulously explaining everything a guide needed to pay attention to. He already regarded her as a teacher and wanted to personally attend the wedding to offer his blessings. Unexpectedly, before the wedding, Zou Lin approached him and said, “Mohr, you look so handsome. Would you be a groomsman for us?”
Mohr was a bit bewildered, “Groomsman? I’ve never been one before.”
Zou Lin smiled, “It’s okay. This wedding isn’t that big. Besides the immediate families, most of the guests are your familiar comrades. Don’t worry; we’ll prepare the groomsman’s outfit for you. Just follow the flow when the time comes.”
Since he was invited, Mohr didn’t feel right refusing, so he nodded and said, “Okay. Can I ask how many groomsmen there will be?”
Zou Lin replied, “Four bridesmaids, four groomsmen, all acquaintances from our team. You’ll go together when the time comes.”
Only then did Mohr feel relieved. He worried it might be awkward if the groomsmen were strangers, but knowing they were all familiar faces made it much better.
On May 31st, early in the morning, Mohr put on the groomsman’s outfit Zou Lin had given him in advance—it was a black suit with a black-and-red striped tie, tailored to fit, making him look particularly spirited.
After fixing his hair in front of the mirror, Mohr was about to leave when his communicator rang. It was the groom’s voice, “Mohr, gather at the parking lot in a moment. We’ll depart at 8 o’clock sharp to pick up the bride together.”
Mohr replied, “Alright, I’m coming.”
When he arrived at the parking lot, the groom and the other groomsmen were already there.
Mohr’s eyes fell on Lu Cheng’an in the crowd. He hadn’t expected Lu Cheng’an to be a groomsman today; he thought Lu Cheng’an would be the officiant. Lu Cheng’an was wearing the same suit as Mohr, with a smile on his face, chatting and laughing with the groom.
Seeing Mohr coming over, Lu Cheng’an looked at him carefully, teasing, “Our Dr. Mohr, usually only seen in a white coat, now looks so handsome in a suit. We’ll have to hide you later to prevent the guests from kidnapping you.”
Laughter erupted around them.
Mohr blushed, feeling embarrassed to meet Lu Cheng’an’s eyes.
The groom said, “Alright, everyone’s here. Let’s go.”
The groomsmen needed to go to the bride’s home to escort her before heading to the seaside for the wedding. They traveled by hovercar to the bride’s home. Today, Zou Lin was wearing a wedding dress, looking several times more beautiful than usual, accompanied by the bridesmaids, four female Sentinels from the eagle Special Forces.
The two newlyweds rode in the wedding car alone, while the groomsmen and bridesmaids’ hovercars acted like a guard detail, protecting them from the front and rear.
A line of cars flew through the streets of the capital planet, adorned with flowers, creating a festive atmosphere.
Perhaps it was the joyous occasion, but Lu Cheng’an seemed even more handsome today than usual, his face beaming with smiles.
After arriving at the seaside, everyone prepared to welcome the guests. Mohr and Lu Cheng’an happened to stand side by side as groomsmen on the right side of the welcoming stage. They wore matching outfits, resembling a couple. Mohr noticed the sentinels around him staring at him, causing his heartbeat to accelerate, feeling somewhat embarrassed to meet their gaze.
Lu Cheng’an, with a smile on his face, leaned over and whispered to Mohr, “Sentinels and guides from the frontlines retiring smoothly and marrying the ones they love—this is the perfect ending. I’m genuinely happy for them.”
The venue was crowded with guests, and the atmosphere was lively. As Lu Cheng’an spoke leaning close, his warm breath almost touching Mohr’s ear.
With such an ambiguous distance, Mohr’s ears turned red instantly, softly replying, “Y-yeah, I envy them.”
Lu Cheng’an chuckled, “No need to envy. I believe you’ll also find a sentinel you like, retire smoothly, and get married. When that happens, I’ll come to attend your wedding too.”
Mohr didn’t say anything. Amidst the warm and romantic atmosphere of the wedding, with flower carpets stretching all the way to the seaside and the fragrance of flowers in the air, standing shoulder to shoulder with Lu Cheng’an, his heart raced faster and faster. Although he was just a groomsman, in a trance, Mohr began to imagine his own wedding. If he were to marry in the future, who would be his sentinel by his side?
His mind was in turmoil, but outwardly, he maintained a polite smile, welcoming the guests as they entered the wedding venue.
At noon, the wedding officially began.
The officiant on the stage asked, “Miss Zou Lin, do you take Mr. Presto to be your lawful wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?”
All eyes of the guests were fixed on the couple at the altar.
Mohr stole a glance at Lu Cheng’an. Unexpectedly, Lu Cheng’an, with his sharp senses, immediately noticed Mohr looking at him. Therefore, he looked over with confusion, questioning with his eyes, “What’s wrong?”
In that moment of eye contact, Mohr’s heart skipped a beat, quickly shifting his gaze away.
Perplexed, Lu Cheng’an continued to watch the altar, where the couple solemnly declared, “I do!”
Applause erupted, and Lu Cheng’an enthusiastically applauded for the newlyweds. As the captain of the eagle Special Forces, he was delighted that his two comrades could retire safely and marry each other. Therefore, Lu Cheng’an was in a cheerful mood throughout the wedding, with a smile on his face.
After the wedding, the guests slowly dispersed.
Mohr suddenly whispered, “Captain Lu, can I take a photo with you? Thank you for taking care of me during this time.”
Lu Cheng’an generously agreed, “Of course.”
Mohr stood beside Lu Cheng’an as the photographer came to take their picture. Suddenly, Lu Cheng’an reached out towards Mohr’s chest. Mohr froze in place, not daring to move, as Lu Cheng’an’s slender fingers eventually rested on his neck, adjusting his tie. With a gentle smile, Lu Cheng’an said, “Your tie is crooked.”
Mohr, “…”
Lu Cheng’an was actually straightening his tie. The intimate gesture made Mohr’s heart skip a beat, and his ears turned red once again.
The photographer called from the front, “Come on, you two, look at the camera and smile!”
They both turned to the camera, and the photographer took several shots in succession, printing them out on the spot for the two of them.
In the photos, Lu Cheng’an had a bright and handsome smile, while Mohr’s smile was shy, his eyes even seemed a bit bashful, avoiding direct eye contact with the camera. They wore matching suits, with a height difference of about 15 centimeters, against the backdrop of the flower lawn and the blue sky and white clouds of the wedding venue.
If someone unaware were to see this photo, they might think they were a couple. Mohr kept the photo.
Lu Cheng’an didn’t notice anything wrong and commented with a smile, “Not bad, you look really good in a suit.”
After a moment of silence, Mohr suddenly spoke seriously, “Sister Lin is about to retire officially. From now on, I’ll be the Eagle Special Forces’ accompanying guide. Although I lack experience, I’ve learned a lot during this time. I’ll do my best to take care of you… all of you.”
Lu Cheng’an looked at him and said, “Hmm, your talent isn’t inferior to Sister Lin’s. I believe you’ll be an excellent accompanying guide.”
Mohr reminded, “In the future, we’ll be comrades fighting side by side. If you’re injured or have any negative emotions, you must tell me first. I hope you can truly trust me.”
Lu Cheng’an nodded with a smile, “Okay. Between comrades, of course, we should trust each other.”
Thinking about the next eight years of fighting side by side with the sentinel in front of him, Mohr suddenly felt happy. Meeting such a good captain in the Eagle Special Forces might be his luck.
***
After the wedding ended, Mohr returned to the dormitory at the White Tower. He had been standing there welcoming guests all morning, his legs numb. After taking a shower and changing into pajamas, he went to the bedroom for a nap.
In a daze, Mohr had a dream. In the dream, he and Lu Cheng’an returned to the wedding venue, except this time, they weren’t groomsmen… they were the newlyweds. Hand in hand, they walked across the flower carpet to the seaside altar.
The officiant asked, “Mr. Mohr, do you take Mr. Lu Cheng’an as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?” Mohr dreamed of softly saying, “I do.”
Then, Lu Cheng’an leaned over with a smile and gently kissed him. That kiss was tender and real, just like being kissed for real, making Mohr’s heart tremble. Later, he dreamed that Lu Cheng’an carried him to the bridal chamber, spending the wedding night together by candlelight.
When Mohr woke up, his clothes were soaked with sweat from the hot dream. He felt embarrassed and annoyed, so he took a cold shower to calm down. This was the first time he had had a wet dream since he became an adult. Unexpectedly, the sentinel in his dream was Lu Cheng’an.
Looking at himself blushing in the mirror, Mohr’s heart was beating wildly. He touched the lips that had been kissed in his dream, and the blush on his cheeks gradually spread to his ears—he finally understood what had been happening to him recently.
Turns out, he had developed feelings for Lu Cheng’an. Because he liked Lu Cheng’an, his gaze couldn’t help but follow the other’s figure on the starship. When Lu Cheng’an was injured, he felt nervous and distressed. When Lu Cheng’an looked at him, he felt shy and his heart raced. It was also because deep down, he wanted Lu Cheng’an to be his wedding partner, that he found himself daydreaming and distracted at the romantic wedding venue when they were groomsmen together.
Taking a photo with Lu Cheng’an at the end was just a subconscious desire to preserve a memory. Wanting to maintain a distance but unable to resist wanting to get closer. This contradictory, anxious feeling was probably what it meant to have a crush? Perhaps he had fallen for Lu Cheng’an at first sight, but he had no experience in love, only realizing it today.
Even if he understood now, he didn’t dare to confess. Lu Cheng’an was an S-class sentinel and also the nephew of General Lu, while he had no parents, and his mental energy was only A+. In terms of family background and mental energy level, they were not compatible.
Moreover, Lu Cheng’an didn’t like him. Lu Cheng’an only took care of him as a new member because he was the captain. Thinking of this, Mohr’s mood couldn’t help but feel a little low.
The likelihood of him being with Lu Cheng’an was slim. But it didn’t matter. At least for the next eight years, he could be with Lu Cheng’an every day… being able to see the person he liked every day was already satisfying enough.

I so feel for Mohr.
Thank you both for the chapter.
