Chapter 152: Epilogue (Part 2)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: Karai

All the guests had arrived, and the party began.

Jin Xuan was quite meticulous when it came to food. Instead of using compressed energy in the oven, he used real fruitwood charcoal, and the skewers were not made with synthetic meat but with naturally raised chickens, ducks, cows, and sheep. Once the marinated skewers were placed on the charcoal fire and sprinkled with spices, the enticing aroma quickly filled the slightly humid air of Soros. When they were ready, they were brushed with the Jin family’s secret sauce, making them absolutely delicious!

Wu Chenghe had no talent for cooking, so he was in charge of mixing drinks tonight. Bloody Marys, Long Island Iced Teas, Soros Sunsets… although they were all popular recipes he found online at the last minute, as a skilled chemist, he seemed to have a natural talent for it, and every drink he made was praised by everyone.

Colorful lights flickered, lively music echoed in the autumn night, and the rich aroma of barbecue filled the warm courtyard. Mao Taizu sat in a chair chatting with Big Bear, Doraemon consulted Xiake about reforming the guide protection law, and Panda Classmate, who had trained himself to be an excellent keeper over the past two years, played games on the lawn with three little zombies, a gothic lolita, and a little Loki. Two Akita dogs happily rolled around on the grass, Zhuang Zhuang’s quantum beast tackled Little Pea’s chubby yellow cat, pressing its paws against its ball-like fat belly bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce…

Laughter and joy filled the air as both guests and hosts enjoyed themselves. Wu Chenghe was in a very cheerful mood. He prepared a large jar of mixed fruit juice for the children. Suddenly struck by inspiration, he decided to create a new cocktail recipe for Jin Xuan to try. He looked over at Jin Xuan by the oven, who happened to be looking at him too. Perhaps still a bit annoyed, their eyes met, and Jin Xuan turned away with a disgruntled twist of his head.

That darn emo… Wu Chenghe was speechless about these occasional outbreaks of his chuunibyou syndrome. He smirked and decided to teach him a lesson by selecting a strong base spirit for the cocktail.

Vodka, fruit juice, hot oil, salt… Wu Chenghe let his imagination run wild and soon concocted a magical drink that was red with a hint of black, and blue within the black. Given that the color was too terrifying, he didn’t dare to taste it himself and planned to give it directly to Jin Xuan in a beautiful crystal glass.

“Here you go, don’t just play with water,” Jin Xuan’s voice came from behind, “I’ve finally managed to put on a little weight, be sure to maintain it.”

Wu Chenghe looked at the plate in front of him, filled with various fragrant grilled meats and fresh grilled vegetables. He couldn’t help but soften a bit, picked up a chicken wing and put it in his mouth, and picked up the freshly mixed cocktail to pour into the trash can. Jin Xuan, with quick eyes and hands, snatched the glass, curious, “What’s this? The color is so beautiful, let me taste it.”

Different tastes for different people, is this considered beautiful?! Wu Chenghe hurriedly spat out the chicken wing and grabbed the glass, “Put that down, it’s not for you, I made a mistake and was going to pour it out!”

“Hey, it must be something good. It’s for you to drink, let me taste it. I’ve been busy for so long.” Jin Xuan raised the glass high, dodging left and right, not letting him touch it. Wu Chenghe was much shorter than Jin Xuan. After jumping around for a while, realizing there was no way, he gave up, “Fine, you drink it.” I hope you choke on it!

Jin Xuan, with great skill and courage, brought the glass to his lips, licked it, eyes lighting up, downed it in one gulp, closed his eyes in ecstasy, indicating that it was extremely delicious. Wu Chenghe was extremely surprised. He didn’t expect Jin Xuan to drink such a disgusting concoction and still pretend to be intoxicated. Was it really that accidentally good? Curiously, he asked, “Is it good?”

Jin Xuan nodded repeatedly. Wu Chenghe looked at the glass in his hand, wanting to take a sip, but seeing that there was not a drop left inside, he felt regretful, “Ah, it’s gone. If it’s that good, why didn’t you leave me a sip?”

Jin Xuan was waiting for this. Without a word, he pinched Wu Chenghe’s chin, pressed his lips against his, and forcefully poured the remaining liquid into his mouth, tightly sealing his lips to prevent him from spitting it out. Wu Chenghe was caught off guard, “Mmm—,” and swallowed it all, tears and snot streaming down his face. When Jin Xuan let go, he immediately ran to the bathroom to rinse his mouth and wash his face—damn, it was too intense, what’s the difference with hydrochloric acid? How did that damn emo pretend to be so intoxicated while holding it in his mouth? His acting skills were too good!

Wu Chenghe gulped down several glasses of cold water before recovering. His tongue felt as if it had been burned by hot coals, and his lips were numb, unable to feel any trace of existence. Thankfully, Jin Xuan only gave him about a quarter of the drink to gulp down. If he had been given the whole thing, he would probably be lying on the grass by now.

“Oh, poor thing, digging a hole for yourself.” Jin Xuan, who knows when he followed, gloated with a strange tone. Wu Chenghe couldn’t find any words to say, gasping for breath while glaring at him. Seeing him in such a pitiful state, Jin Xuan took a towel and wiped the water off his face, couldn’t help but kiss his wet eyes, then moved down to lick his swollen lips, saying, “Oh, is it really that intense? It was fine for me, just a bit spicy. If I knew you’d react so strongly, I wouldn’t have given it to you. I could have drunk it all myself, no problem.”

“Get lost!” Wu Chenghe pushed him away vigorously. After the numbness wore off, his lips were burning and numb again. He had to soak them in a glass of ice water, feeling like a stupid crow.

“Alright, it’s all my fault,” Jin Xuan wanted to laugh but dared not. He circled around him, apologizing, “Don’t just drink water, you should eat something too, or your stomach will be upset later.” He persuaded him to the dining room and took out a cheesecake from the refrigerator for him to eat, “Have this, it’s cold and easy to chew.”

Wu Chenghe’s stomach was also burning, and he was worried that he might embarrass himself later when the alcohol kicked in, so he reluctantly endured the pain in his mouth and ate the cake. Jin Xuan poured him some chilled fruit juice and sat beside him, flattering him, “By the way, what did you call the cocktail you made just now? I thought it was quite good, a bit spicy but strong enough.”

Wu Chenghe bit into the cake spitefully and said, “Yes, that one was specially made for you. I hope you like it! It’s called ’emo go die’!”

Jin Xuan laughed heartily, “Alright, I’ll remember that. I really liked it.”

Wu Chenghe really wanted to smash the whole plate of cake onto his head, but soon he felt his mind getting a bit fuzzy. There was an inexplicable excitement in his heart, and despite Jin Xuan looking very angry, he couldn’t control his urge to smile at him.

Oh no, I must be drunk, this is bad! Wu Chenghe stuffed the cake into his mouth desperately, reminding himself not to call everyone ‘dad’ later, and then… he didn’t know anything else.

When he woke up again, it was already the afternoon of the next day. Wu Chenghe opened his eyes to find himself lying on the large bed in the bedroom, with Jin Xuan’s lion lying on the carpet beside him, but there was no sign of Jin Xuan around.

What happened? My head is spinning… Wu Chenghe struggled to sit up and found that he wasn’t wearing anything. There were pink kiss marks all over his chest and belly, his thighs were sore and painful, as if he had been doing splits all night, his knees were bruised, and his waist felt like it was going to break. Moving even a little made him ache terribly.

There was no doubt that this was a manifestation of excessive indulgence. Since he was injured two years ago, Jin Xuan had never taken care of him like this before. It must be because he saw him drunk last night and then…

“Woo woo!” The Barbary lion, alert, got up and looked at his second master with a twisted expression. Icarus butterfly fluttered onto the pillow, walking back and forth with delicate steps, mocking the ignorance of his master.

“Woo woo!” Little Pea’s chubby yellow cat was also there, having previously been nestled under the Barbary lion’s belly. It had climbed up now, hopping onto the bed, nibbling on Wu Chenghe’s fingers, asking for petting.

Wu Chenghe bitterly petted his quantum beast son, manipulated the AI robot to fetch him some clothes, and just as he put on his shirt, Jin Xuan walked in, “Oh, you’re awake.”

Wu Chenghe looked at him expressionlessly. Jin Xuan chuckled, “Don’t look at me like that, you did it willingly. You were so enthusiastic last night, raping me again and again. I haven’t cried yet, so don’t give me that victimized look!”

Wu Chenghe had no memory of what happened after getting drunk, looking at him suspiciously. Jin Xuan, seeing that he didn’t believe him, opened his personal terminal and played a video, “Come on, enjoy it. I recorded everything.”

Wu Chenghe marveled at his brazen behavior, too stunned to comment, then heard his muddled voice in the video, “Dad, hello, dad, goodbye, dad, remember to accompany my mom to dance in the square, don’t let the neighbor, Lao Wang, snatch her away!”

Fortunately, he was calling out to Mu, which wasn’t too outlandish. Wu Chenghe silently covered his face. In the video, Jin Xuan had already helped him send off all the guests, and he was leaning on Jin Xuan like a limp noodle, swaying back and forth. When Little Pea happened to skate by, he suddenly jumped up as if electrified, grabbed him and shouted, “Dad, don’t run around, you’re so old and still playing with skateboards, put that down, it’s my son’s!”

Damn, he recognized a new dad again! Wu Chenghe groaned, realizing that he had lost all his dignity for a lifetime. He even called his son ‘dad’… But what was even more embarrassing was still to come. In the video, he grabbed Little Pea, snatched the skateboard from him, and ran around the yard on the mini-car, with three sons, two dogs, and a husband chasing after him, but failing to catch up. In the end, he rushed into the backyard and plopped into the swimming pool!

Jin Xuan had to exert a lot of effort to drag him out of the pool, and he still clung to the ladder, “Go away! It’s too hot, I want to cool down!”

Jin Xuan quickly satisfied his request, stripping him naked by the poolside, and with the cheers of his three sons, he hoisted him onto his shoulders, saying, “Everyone, go back to sleep. Wu Chenggong, organize everyone to take a bath. Big brother takes care of little brother, little brother listens to big brother, dismissed!”

The zombie squad stood at attention and saluted, “Yes, Commander! Goodnight, Commander!”

The later part of the video was rather unsuitable for children. After the children and dogs left, they continued from the edge of the swimming pool to the lawn, then to the steps of the living room, followed by the bathroom, and then the bedroom… Jin Xuan wasn’t entirely wrong; Wu Chenghe was in full force the whole time, repeatedly overpowering his husband. Although Jin Xuan also had the suspicion of being an accomplice, he indeed appeared to be the aggressor on the surface.

“Enough!” Wu Chenghe couldn’t bear to watch himself in such a frenzied and violent state. He activated consciousness control and forced Jin Xuan to close his personal terminal, angrily saying, “I drank too much, and instead of advising me, you were filming. Is there anyone like you, being a father? What if the children saw it? Quickly delete it!”

“No way!” Jin Xuan held his right hand, “I want to cherish this beautiful memory. I suspect you won’t drink again in your lifetime. Who knows when such a good thing will happen again!”

Wu Chenghe jumped up to punch him, and Jin Xuan, agile as ever, got up and ran. The two of them chased each other in the bedroom for fifteen minutes, with Wu Chenghe ultimately having the upper hand and using mental suggestions to force Jin Xuan to delete the video. However, submission wasn’t entirely in vain. Under Jin Xuan’s control, in the end, he straddled Jin Xuan and said “I love you, husband” and “King Xuan is the most handsome, I’m willing to have children for you” ten times each.

After a life-and-death struggle, the two husbands were both exhausted, lying side by side on the carpet, panting heavily. After panting for a while, they both looked at each other and burst into laughter together — it was so ridiculous, wasn’t it? A perfectly good celebration was completely ruined by a cocktail called “emo go die”!

After laughing for a while, Wu Chenghe glanced at the time and realized it was already dusk. He pushed Jin Xuan up, saying, “It’s time for dinner, go get some food. The kids can’t go hungry.”

Jin Xuan got up and pulled him up, saying, “Let’s get some nutrients. I’ve been cleaning the battlefield all afternoon and finally tidied up the lawn. I’m too tired.”

“Whatever.” Wu Chenghe straightened his clothes, opened the bedroom door, and was surprised to find the squad of three children, two dogs, and a yellow cat standing outside, with Little Pea still holding a pacifier.

“We’re starving!” Wu Qian said unhappily, “Have you had enough fun? If there’s nothing left to eat, I’m taking my brothers and leaving!”

“Oh, you even know about running away from home!” Wu Chenghe couldn’t handle his husband, but couldn’t he handle his sons? He pinched Wu Qian’s cheeks and said, “Dad will make some food right away. Go with your brothers and wait. If you’re too hungry, have some cake from the fridge first.”

“Where’s the cake?” Wu Qian said indignantly, “You’ve smeared it all over dad, I saw it when I got up this morning to take care of the plants. Dad, you’re so unsanitary, making it all dirty and still want to eat…”

Wu Chenghe covered his son’s mouth and gave him a suggestive look, “It’s just an illusion, nothing happened!”

“Emo go die” is too scary; I absolutely can’t touch it again, oh heavens!

After a chaotic dinner and a tumultuous bedtime game, when they finally managed to get the children and dogs back to their nests and asleep, it was already late at night. Wu Chenghe had slept too much during the day and found himself wide awake at night, so he climbed up to the rooftop to look at the stars. The previous owner of the house had left a high-powered astronomical telescope on the rooftop, allowing one to see the distant Milky Way on clear nights.

Betelgeuse, Sirius, Aldebaran, Alphard… It took Wu Chenghe nearly an hour to finally find Earth in the telescope. After a thousand years, it was no longer the pure blue it once was, but rather a greenish-gray color. Patches of ochre-colored spots dotted the continents like psoriasis, and the gray-white Eighth Continent floated on the Pacific Ocean, its area almost ten times that of a thousand years ago.

“What are you looking at?” Jin Xuan came up with a cup of hot milk, leaned in to look through the telescope, and said, “Oh, Mother Earth, this season is the best time to observe Mother Earth… What’s that, the snow-covered Europa continent?”

“It’s the Eighth Continent. A million tons of plastic waste were dumped into the ocean a thousand years ago, gathering and sticking together in the doldrums between the west coast of the United States and Hawaii, gradually forming a huge floating plate. People call it the ‘Eighth Continent’.” Wu Chenghe took the milk and explained to him. Even Jin Xuan, with his broad knowledge, had very limited understanding of Earth because it represented humanity’s regrettable past. Therefore, modern education focused more on undeveloped star domains, with only restrained remembrance of the lifeless Mother Earth.

“During my lifetime, the Eighth Continent was only a little over a hundred square kilometers, nowhere near this size,” Wu Chenghe frowned. It was disappointing to see such an unsettling scene the first time he observed Earth, but since humanity had abandoned their home to come to Planet Dunkirk, it was probably hard to find any pleasant scenery there anymore. “In the hundred years before the bio-crisis, the garbage continent expanded at least tenfold. Humans truly… have limitless potential.”

“It’s inevitable,” Jin Xuan sat in the chair beside him, adjusting the telescope to observe the devastated Americas, saying, “Every race’s development and maturity come at a high cost. Humanity has been progressing, seeking ways to coexist peacefully with the universe. But change is inevitable; it’s human nature and the fate of the universe.”

“Rogue philosophy,” Wu Chenghe shook his head. Although he didn’t agree with Jin Xuan’s rhetoric about “fate,” he couldn’t find a better excuse to absolve humanity.

Jin Xuan knew he was indulging in his maternal instinct again, so he rubbed his hair and said, “Survival of the fittest, just like when we encountered the Reapers. The universe encountering us can only be attributed to fate. Anyway, don’t think too much about it.” Pausing for a moment, he added, “Maybe, just maybe, thousands of years from now, the Voyager Army of the Universe will bring a different philosophy of survival.”

Mentioning the Voyager Army of the Universe, Wu Chenghe couldn’t help but think of Marlow again, sighing. Manipulating the telescope aimlessly, he scanned the vast expanse of the sky. “Speaking of which, the holiday is about to end. After the commendation ceremony, we’ll return to our jurisdiction and organize the ‘Star Tomb’ public memorial. It’s been two years since the Voyager Army of the Universe left us.”

After the “Implicit Plan,” the Federal Fleet and the Voyager Army engaged in a fierce battle along the Beta Front. Thousands of warships and mechas were blasted into fragments. Later, there was an energy fluctuation in the passage left by the Reapers, swallowing up some of the wreckage. The rest became war debris, floating on the edge of the Zhifu Chain Nebula.

After the Gabriel rebellion was quelled, the “Tian Chai” Fleet Engineering Corps applied to handle this batch of garbage. The Federation also decided to build a public tomb on the battlefield to memorialize the warriors whose remains were lost and to warn humanity never to split again. When the Federal Sculptors’ Association learned of this, they submitted a proposal to Congress, suggesting that the war wreckage be directly processed into art, forming a unique group of cosmic sculptures. This proposal was widely supported, so eight months ago, a thousand federal sculptors formed a volunteer group and went to the Beta Front to complete this unparalleled creation.

After six months, the cosmic sculpture group “Star Tomb” was completed. After a nationwide vote, it was named “Star Tomb.” As the guard of the Zhi-Fu Chain Nebula defense circle, the “Tian Chai” Fleet would be fully responsible for the first public memorial of the “Star Tomb.”

“Don’t worry about the public memorial. The plan has already been submitted, and it will be approved after the commendation ceremony. We’ll organize the drill then.” Jin Xuan stretched his long legs onto the balcony railing, adjusted the telescope to the direction of the Zhifu Chain Nebula, and looked at the star domain that was already familiar to him, sighing. “It’s been two years in the blink of an eye. I wonder if there are any survivors from Marlow’s group.”

Wu Chenghe sighed almost imperceptibly. The scene back then, saying “ten dead without survival” wouldn’t be an exaggeration. Although the “Quadrant” was the highest level of the Federation’s space fleet, they had never undergone the test of the anti-de Sitter black hole. According to later research by military ship scientists, the probability of them safely passing through the passage was less than one in ten thousand.

“Anyway, Marlow’s final communication gave us hope and gave his fleet hope,” Jin Xuan gently covered Wu Chenghe’s hand, saying softly, “No one in his situation could have done better than him… He’s a hero.”

“Yes,” Wu Chenghe said softly. The image of that indifferent teenager who tirelessly fought against the gluttonous caracal had become somewhat blurred in his mind. “Marlow,” this name seemed to have become a symbol, a symbol of belief and courage in his mind.

Three months later, at the “Star Tomb” Cosmic Martyrs Cemetery.

The wreckage of warships and mechas destroyed in the war two years ago had been melted, sculpted, and reshaped by sculptors into a huge modern sculpture group, silently floating on the edge of the Zhifu Chain Nebula. Molten metal, jagged fragments, and battered warships stretched into twisted rings, and broken mechas piled into abstract hives… Everything seemed desolate and mournful, yet contained an indescribable power and beauty.

The first interstellar public memorial of the Dunkirk Federation was about to begin. Two hundred warships of the “Tian Chai” Fleet slowly rotated around the “Star Tomb.” At nine o’clock standard time in the morning, President Jin Zhe personally pressed the start button on the flagship “Tian Chai.” In an instant, silent energy waves emanated from the two hundred warships, spreading like ripples in the vast universe, gradually approaching the “Star Tomb.”

The “Star Tomb” was like a lonely island standing in the ocean, engulfed by the waves stirred up by the energy wave hurricane. Starlight began to flash in the scattered sculptures, more and more, denser and denser, eventually forming concentric arcs of soft light that extended gracefully among the sculpture group.

Suddenly, seven-colored lights soared into the sky along the arcs, transforming into a brilliant halo like an aurora, like a rainbow after rain, like a gorgeous ribbon. Based on the arcs of light, they curled and meandered among the sculpture group, enveloping the twisted and fierce works of art in a seven-colored light mantle.

Quiet like the night sky, the dazzling light curtains resemble the graceful dance of the Aurora Goddess’s veil, flickering with breathtaking colors. As if stirred by a gentle breeze, they sway and twist, gradually outlining a distinct totem directly above the “Star Tomb”.

It is the exclusive emblem of peace and unity for the Dunkirk Federation, where tender olive branches intertwine heavily to form a closed circle, symbolizing completeness and harmony. Twisted and gnarled thorns entangle with it, sharp briars struggling to pierce through the rounded olive leaves, signifying that peace and freedom are never gifts from the heavens but require defense with life and blood.

The brilliant light curtains herald the dawn over the dim starry sea, with thousands of white dots flying out from the ships surrounding the “Star Tomb,” heading towards the colorful halo. They are the families of martyrs participating in this public memorial, dressed in specially made spacesuits, propelled through the light curtains by the thrust of vector jets, flying into the sculpture group.

Wu Chenghe and Jin Xuan were among them. Jin Xuan, as usual, connects himself and Wu Chenghe with a tether, pulling him through the ghostly wreckage. Surrounded by mournful families of martyrs, although their cries and mourning cannot be heard in the absolute vacuum, an intangible sadness seems to materialize into an atmosphere, pervasive and poignant.

The unmanned drones of the “Tianzhu” fleet, the war chariots of the “Capture and Kill” fleet, the Sea Siren VII super mecha… Wu Chenghe and Jin Xuan fly past one distorted sculpture after another, their hearts filled with countless emotions, yet their feelings remain unspoken. They exchange silent glances, vaguely seeing in each other’s eyes the bloody slaughter from two years ago, as well as profound grief.

A white figure floats near a huge X-shaped sculpture about a dozen meters away. Wu Chenghe tugs on the tether, signaling Jin Xuan to stop, then points to the person’s right arm, where there is a badge of the Mulan Fleet, it’s Lilith.

Lilith stood in the depression at the center of the X, gazing up at the shimmering sculpture, which was an artwork created from two warships welded together after being broken in the middle: one end was the flagship of the Hannibal Guards, and the other was a large destroyer of the Mulan Fleet. The black-winged lion and the pure white orchid echo each other, representing the badges of the Voyager Army and the Mulan Fleet, respectively.

Lilith silently gazed at the two ships, riddled with holes yet inseparable, as if she’s staring at her shattered marriage and family. Wu Chenghe doesn’t know what she’s thinking, only seeing her body tremble slightly, a faint mist appearing on the transparent visor of her spacesuit from time to time.

She was crying.

Wu Chenghe didn’t disturb this strong yet fragile woman, quietly turning around and leading Jin Xuan away.

One pure white fluorescent ball after another floats up in the sculpture group, representing the families praying for their departed loved ones. Wu Chenghe and Jin Xuan pass several large sculptures, arriving at a group composed of dozens of small sculptures about two meters tall. A figure wearing a white spacesuit with the badge of the guide school on the right arm stands in the center of the group, it’s Chen Miaomiao.

Jin Xuan wants to go over to see, but Wu Chenghe stops him, shaking his head behind the mask, gesturing for him to hide behind the wreckage of a tank.

Chen Miaomiao maneuvered the vector thrusters, aimlessly spinning in place, surveying the surrounding dilapidated drones and mecha. It’s then that Wu Chenghe notices that all the sculptures here bear the emblem of the Third Army, all from Seiling.

As Chen Miaomiao turned, he reached into his pocket with gloved hands and took out a transparent box, clumsily opening it. With gloved right hand, he gently picked up something inside. It’s a specimen of a yellow rose, preserved in excellent condition, with delicate petals and moist leaves, showing no signs of withering.

He silently gazes at the yellow rose, as if staring at some unattainable dream. Five minutes pass before he suddenly increases the power of the vector thrusters.

As his body rapidly rotates, the airflow he generates forms a small vortex, gradually tearing the fragile yellow rose into tiny fragments, scattering them like a flurry of butterflies.

The fragments fly through the colorful light curtains, gradually disappearing without a trace. Chen Miaomiao reduced the power of the vector thrusters, drifting for a moment among the wreckage left by the Seiling Legion, then left the “Star Tomb” without looking back.

Wu Chenghe watched his stubborn figure, feeling sorry for him. Perhaps he came this time to let go of the past and start anew, or maybe he just wants to etch everything Marlow left for him in a different way. But no matter which choice, it’s a heartrending one.

The light curtains around them began to flicker; the time for the public memorial was nearing its end. Jin Xuan tapped Wu Chenghe’s helmet with two fingers, initiating the vector thrust, and they ascended vertically, flying to the airspace above the “Star Tomb”. The olive and thorn totem floated in the vast starry sky. They passed through the light curtains and flew towards the flagship “Tianzhu”.

Jin Xuan, who had been silent all along, suddenly began to whistle. The melodious tune of “Sperm Whale” echoed in their helmets, pure and ethereal, just like ten years ago when they first met, each with their own ideals, floating outside the Grasshopper Space Station, enjoying the beauty of space together for the first time.

Ten years, gone in the blink of an eye, as if it were all a dream. Wu Chenghe looked back into the distance, watching as the olive and thorn totem gradually shrank in his field of vision, yet became clearer than ever.

It was their shared dream, their shared oath to defend, their lifelong belief.

Author’s Note: This ending took a long time to write, with the setting of the Star Tomb, the public memorial, the choice of words, and the final summary and sublimation of the characters’ emotions… The closer to the end, the more reluctant and anxious I feel. This story is like a tangled relationship, a dear but conflicted parent.

Nevertheless, the main text has come to a complete end. There are four pairs of central character pairs, and two main storylines.

Wu Chenghe X Jin Xuan, growth.

Wu Mu X Jin Zhe, sacrifice.

Chen Miaomiao X Marlow, letting go.

Yin Bo X Kazumi Koyama, exchange.

The first storyline is the rivalry between Hannibal and the Jin brothers, as well as the battle for human division and unity. The second storyline is the game between Guide and Sentinel, as well as the struggle for freedom and equality.

Looking back at the early settings, I’ve basically covered what needed to be written. Unused elements can be saved for later use, haha~
