  1. I really enjoyed reading the book. It helped me piece some of the missing parts of the TV drama together. Although, I know that things are censored and people can interrupt things the way they want. I do believe that the ending of the extra chapters of the book would have made a better ending to the drama. After being separated for so long why would they part to meet again. I would love to read more about their bromance.

    1. Its not bromance. Bromance is brotherhood, a great example is JC and WWX’s relationship or SongXiao’s friendship and so on. Its fine if you or others think the drama is bromance, coz thats what it seems like because of censorship (but in actuality is really subtle implicit romance, but not everyone realized that). But what you’re reading right now, the canon novel, is definitely not bromance regarding WangXian. And their love here is not censored at all!

      1. JC and WWX don’t have a bromance. I’d You Xiao Mo and Ling Xiao from LMW are a better example than JC and WWX..

    2. Okay, problem: the drama was based off of this exact book. Not the other way around. Also, this book contains smut. Bromance is between two male friends that is very close knit but not sexual.

    1. I think we can say that the rank is made by people in cultivation world. It’s based on their looks / handsomeness (?). The twin jades is the most good looking, followed by JZX, WWX then JC.

      1. I think WWX looks better than JZX but I’ve never watched the drama.. I saw a thumbnail of someone wearing a white mask up close and personal with the camera and it made me wonder if I should really watch it.

  2. Here for the fourth time but this is the first time I’ve visited this particular chapter….I kinda always skipped to the prologue.

    I gotta say

    WHERE THE FUCK IS CHENQING?!!!!!!!!

HOW CAN U GUYS FORGET ABOUT ME?!!!!!!!!!!!

    WHAT THE HELLLLLLL!!!!!!

    😡😠🤬🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

    1. chenqing was made up by the producers. id also like to give them a cheeky nod, since ‘chen qing’ with slightly different tones (cheng qing) means ‘get/become married’.

      1. Chenqing was definitely not made up by the producers wtf. Its WWX’s flute from canon, the ghost flute Chenqing (likely not included maybe cause spoilers who knows), and the drama CQL was also named from this flute.

      2. Yeah I just realized haha. One of my friends who read this told me (when I didn’t finish yet) so I just assumed it’s true. I guess they missed it? Anyways the latter is still correct and you can trust me on this one since I know chinese. (not well enough to read an entire novel though :P)

      3. Hello Magnolia, there is no reason at all to insult someone. Lot of people thing the novel is based on the drama the Untamed ( and not the opposite) and this is why Addis added the warning at the begining of the novel. We only need to educate them, with the correct answers. I was in the first batch whom had to wait after the translation on a weekly basis and watched the Untamed long after but I still take the time to answer and advise these people with all my patience and the love I have for this masterpiece MDZS( my number one novel so far and I read it so many times and I still read it and I am a big reader) and WangXian (without spoiling anything). Please stay respectful in your comments, don’t forget you are responding to another human being and not only a comment.

        Have a wonderful day.😉

      1. You will understand more if you take your time. Don’t Rush, enjoy each chapter, each words….💞It worths it.

    1. You’re in for quite the pleasant ride friend. My inner fujoshi was satisfied with this one.. also I can’t stop looking at GDC bunnies.. they are too fucking hilarious..

  3. When I read this novel the 1st time, I didn’t pay attention to the meaning of the names. Now I read it for the 2nd time, I understand why they have such names. The author is very creative

  4. I missed this chapter before. The toughest part of my first reading of this novel was characters’ names; I would get confused as to who was who, so this is a handy reference to refer back to.
I am taking more time with this reading to better absorb the author’s meanings and the footnotes that clarify speech and traditions.
This translation still appears to be the go-to site for those of us coming to this via The Untamed and unfamiliar with Chinese tradition and history, so I thank and congratulate all those who have put so much time and effort into this work.
I wonder, has the author ever commented on the work you have done here and with other novels? It would be interesting to know.
    Thanks again.

  5. From the prior chapter, “In the Cloud Recesses, there was a cold spring with a lot of miraculous effects, for the male cultivators to use. It was said to be able to calm down one’s heart, clear one’s mind, quench one’s fire, and so on.” … It just occurred to me that may be why Lan Zhan went to the cold spring. He just found Wei Ying after 13 years, he needed to clear his mind (amongst other things).

  6. This is best drama i ever seen i was watching lots of chinese drama, korean drama, indian drama, turkish drama etc..but this is different there is something is this drama..the whole actor is play their role very nice..the story is specless..thts y i came to read thei novel story also bcz aftr watch the untamed i feel not satisfied jst want knw complete story..about wangxian…Lanzhan n weiying the heart theifer of their fans 😂😂😂 yibo n Xiao zhan..iam totally obssesed in this drama in Lanzhan n weiying..Thnkq to share this nice story…iam very to read this..

  7. May The Gods bless you!!! Thank you for the translation, hope you get approval to the original writer to translate it officially.. May prosperity find you 😘😘

  8. I watched the TV drama first because it was what caught my attention initially. I was so moved by the story and reading this character cheat sheet just made me tear up even more. The meaning behind their names make more sense now…

    1. Hello, yes since he reincarnated into Mo XuanYu’s body which is slender and little shorter than Wei Ying’s original body. Please reread chapter 2 and 8. In the drama The Untamed, producer decided to keep same actor and make him wear a mask (which was a very good Idea because Xiao Zhan is an amazing actor)😄

  9. Just got a little question, it was not to long ago I finished the second time, but here I am again for the third time. SO SHOULD I READ IT AGAIN NOW OR WAIT A BIT LONGER AND COME BACK TO IT???? 🤔🤔🤔
Please help before ALL my brain cells dies😅

  10. Love this novel. Read it 4 times now and watched The Untamed about the same amount of times. I think watching the tv show helped me with the characters’ names. Liked the parts where Lan Zhan drinks wish there was more of these actions in tv show. Love the part on the bridge where he picks him up in his arms because Wu Xian won’t let him carry he on his back.
