Chapter 47: A God’s Marriage (18)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: GaeaTiamat

Sa’gya held Yun Chi up with his feet completely off the ground and rubbed his wet nose against the side of the cub’s ear, while Yun Chi buried himself in the soft, dense fleece and his eyes curved.

So soft, Sa’gya dazedly thought, soft and small, but with the heaviest weight since it can bear. How in the world could such a wonderful life be born?

“I missed you. Didn’t you?” Yun Chi asked sweetly. “Let me tell you. Last night, I saw a big moon, did you see it too?”

These two questions could have knocked Sa’gya out of his mind. The big sea otter answered softly, nodded randomly, as he felt his heart swell to the level of soreness. He was so eager that after Yun Chi said two words, his overgrown fangs began to scurry around in his mouth cavity again.

Yun Chi whispered something in his ear again, and he tried his best to listen, but it was never clear. He did nothing except to hold the cub tighter and tighter.

Yan Yan was stiff and stood frozen in place. He followed Yun Chi, only to look at the place where the Lord of the Ice Sea was standing, then hastily avert his gaze.

How long had passed?

A thousand years, two thousand years, or ten thousand years, twenty thousand years?

But no matter how much time flowed, how much time was devoted to making the living leave the past behind and move forward, Yan Yan still couldn’t forget the scene back then – the god had roared in despair in the dusk, the rain of tears was cold, the killing intent was cold, and the fallen bodies of the gods were also cold. The world was black and red, mixed with bits and pieces of flesh.

The black, thick as an ink vault and the dark sea, red with gushing blood and occasionally flashing, while those in the sea couldn’t help sinking; the faces and limbs of the gods.

Even if in life he had been so high above, with an imperial seat majestically erected in the clouds, and to arbitrarily manipulate the option of reversing fate. However, in the face of the end of death, to still be humble as that, like a wild dog in the suburbs…

“…I bought a lot of things. A comb for you, a big tapestry, bottles of honey, a lot of malt liquor, and rice noodles!” Yun Chi rambled on, and Sa’gya gazed at him in fascination, as he nodded repeatedly. “I put it all in Yan Yan’s space. He’s so capable!”

When the name of Yan Yan came up, Yan Yan’s shoulders shook. He instantly cut off the messy thoughts about the past. He suddenly tensed his body and felt the Lord of the Ice Sea lift up his emotionless eyes, which were lightly sweeping over himself, over his brain, over his heart and soul…cutting.

“Hmm.” The second generation main god said slowly.

Cold sweat had completely wet Yan Yan’s clothes, making it into a sticky mud that flowed coldly down his spine.

Yun Chi’s eyes containing meaning, as he went to grab Sa’gya hairy beard. “Because I bought too much, the merchants selling rice also gave me a cart. Hurry up and take things down, and let’s go?”

Sa’gya wouldn’t disobey his words, “Yes, our home.”

Yun Chi let go of his hand and jumped out of Sa’gya’s arms, which dropped in Yan Yan’s eyes, like the loosened reins of a monster. He tried to stop his hands from shaking as Yun Chi’s purchased supplies were pulled out piece by piece.

Round cake, malt liquor, grain, tapestry…On the ice, they almost piled up into a small mountain.

“Can we take it?” Yun Chi asked Sa’gya, a little worried.

Sa’gya nodded firmly. “Yes. No problem.”

He used his divine power to let the pile of supplies float in the air, and finally said to Yan Yan, “You guys did a good job. Go ahead.”

Yan Yan’s almost broken nerves suddenly loosened, and the feeling of coming back from the dead was so vivid that he couldn’t even express his obedience for the first time.

But Sa’gya didn’t care about his little indiscretion. His full attention was on Yun Chi, who waved at Yan Yan, and then fished the unused gems from his belt and ran over to pour them into Yan Yan’s hand.

” Thank you so much for your trouble this time!”

…The feeling of death came back when he noticed the gaze of the Lord of the Ice Sea…

Yan Yan moved his lips numbly and whispered, “Thank you…”

“Bye-bye!” Yun Chi ran to Sa’gya’s side, as he squinted at him and said goodbye. “Take care on the road!”

Looking at the size of that figure as it gradually disappeared in the thickening fog, Yan Yan sucked up his cold sweat, and finally let out a long breath of relief.

.

We’re home!

On the island, Yun Chi’s camouflage appearance immediately disappeared, and he wore a clean, light and simple single robe.

“Phew, still comfortable at home…” He stretched his back, and Sa’gya got up, while first piling the easily cooled round cakes into the kitchen. On the way, Yun Chi ate a piece for himself and then fed Sa’gya a piece, as he asked, “Is it good?”

“Yes,” Sa’gya said truthfully. “But not as good as what you make.”

“I don’t know how to make this yet, so I’ll learn first.” Yun Chi’s heart was pleased to receive praise from the customer.

Sa’gya said seriously, “You’re so smart. You’ll learn.”

He blushed, then Yun Chi coughed and hastily turned away. “Actually, it’s not…It’s not as good as you said.”

Huh? The sea otter looked at his pup curiously. What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong?

He stretched his neck and tried to poke his head around to see Yun Chi’s expression, but Yun Chi just spun around and hid from him.

The human and the otter just spun around the room, spun around until they long forgot the very beginning of the purpose of why and actually chased each other around the stone table and fought. Until Sa’gya pounced on Yun Chi on the carpet, and Yun Chi laughed loudly. He was buried in the thick fur and kept arching, as he tried to tickle the sea otter’s ticklish flesh.

So naughty!

Sa’gya was dizzy and dazzled. His fur exploded all over his body. He couldn’t help himself, he opened his mouth, held the cub solidly to his chest, bared his sharp, shiny fangs and bit Yun Chi gently on the ear.

It was really careful and cautious, but Yun Chi froze as if he had been pinched by something pointy. He had barely reacted to what it felt like, but when he understood the truth, he immediately stopped fussing.

Yun Chi looked up in surprise. His cheeks flushed red, and he said incredulously, “You…You bit me!”

Sa’gya, who had surreptitiously indulged in biting, also froze. He couldn’t defend himself, for he could not resist the temptation to open his sinful mouth to the pup.

“Ha! I’ll bite it too!” Unaware of the situation, Yun Chi just thought he was playing around, and pounced aggressively. With his teeth and claws, he found Sa’gya’s round, soft furry ears buried in the rich fur, and went down with an “awwww.”

For a moment, Sa’gya’s brain was completely dead.

It probably took a lot of Yun Chi’s strength for him to bite, but for Sa’gya, it was like a petulant nip.

This caused Sa’gya to completely panic. His fangs were no longer comfortable, but in addition to his teeth, his entire body began to tormentingly flip everywhere. The big sea otter’s bones creaked and itched fiercely, barely able to control the powerful impulses rampaging through his body.

Sa’gya put Yun Chi on the blanket, jumped up and ran wildly out the door. The door slammed with a “bam.”

“…I’m going out!”

After he fled a few steps, he turned back and shouted, “That stuff is too heavy, leave it to me to unpack. You do not move!”

However, he then continued to turn around and run wildly in the direction of the ice sea.

Yun Chi, “…”

…All right.

Yun Chi couldn’t carry anything too heavy, so he left it to Sa’gya to handle. He stuffed the round cakes in the cupboard, the honey and dried beer and fruit in the cabinet, and the spices into small clay pots, all labeled with ink pens so there would be no mistakes.

Kitchen utensils were hung up, table spoons were lined up in drawers, cheeses and herbs were stacked on the bottom shelf…When all the small things were almost taken care of, and there was only the heavy rice and the noodle boiler, Sa’gya came in covered with water and disheveled.

Yun Chi actually imitated those housewives on the television set, and grimly said “You still know how to come home.” However the law was only law. When he saw Sa’gya with that wilted look, how could he still have the heart to say something excessive to the sea otter.

He just bit his ear, was it really that serious…?

“I’m sorry…” Sa’gya’s head drooped listlessly. “I shouldn’t have rushed out and left you alone…”

Yun Chi brought a newly bought towel to wipe the water droplets from his body and asked, “Is your ear your weakness?”

No, I only have a weak spot for you.

Sa’gya shook his head and whispered, “These days, my divine power is out of control so much that I’m just afraid it will hurt you…”

Yun Chi sighed.

“You won’t,” he reassured Sa’gya. “I believe that you won’t hurt me. What reason do you have not to believe in yourself?”

Seeing that Sa’gya didn’t answer, he finished wiping his fur, then pulled out the comb he had chosen from his backpack and showed it to the big sea otter. “Look! I chose this comb for you in Astolfo’s jewelry store…doesn’t it look like you?”

Sa’gya looked up and genuinely complimented, “It’s beautiful.”

Whatever you choose, it’s beautiful.

“Come on, let’s brush your fur. It’s all tangled from running into the sea.” Yun Chi patted the floor, saw that Sa’gya was startled and seemed to be retreating again, and he couldn’t help but soften his voice, “Come on – comb the fur. No matter what your troubles, most will be combed away!”

Sa’gya grunted for half a day, but couldn’t stand Yun Chi’s pleading voice and eyes. He gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and went into an ostrich state of mind. It’s just a comb, no more than a pup’s hand. It wouldn’t have the magic power to make the otter lose control…

The sea otter gave in and fell heavily next to Yun Chi. His head rested on Yun Chi’s lap as the other hummed happily, first he rubbed his hands through the tangled wet locks of fur, then slowly combed away with the animal bone comb, easily smoothing the bottom.

The teeth of the comb rustled as they touched the snowy fur, and Yun Chi marveled at the quiet scene of the sea otter being groomed by a burning fireplace with orange flames that warmed the room along with the soft crackle of pine branches. – It was a day that even the Gods would envy!

As he combed, Yun Chi noticed something was wrong.

He looked at the fuzzy floss that spilled out of the teeth of the comb, and saw that Sa’gya was…Shedding more fur?

No!

Yun Chi was struck by a bolt from the blue, but didn’t dare to squeal. He raised the comb in horror, and found that the snow-like hairs were rustling down through the cracks in the comb…How could Sa’gya lose his fur? He had been here for so long, but Yun Chi had never seen him shed a single hair…!

…Wait a minute.

No, wait a little longer.

Yun Chi slowly widened his eyes.

No, that doesn’t look like shedding.

In the bright light of the fire, the fallen hairs automatically, as if they had life and intelligence, consciously gathered and gradually clumped together, compacted, and just like breathing they,  “bang!” swelled up.

–Sa’gya’s fallen fluff, actually turned into a group of round, fat little sea otters!

Yun Chi almost slapped himself. He wasn’t hallucinating was he?

Sa’gya was still unaware. His eyes were closed, as he snored comfortably, and the pile of tumbling fat little sea otters, like a cluster of snow mochi, were on the floor, rolling, rolling…until they rolled up to Yun Chi.

I’m dreaming.

Yun Chi was dumbfounded.

I must be dreaming.

Me too! I want to hug all the little fat sea otter! I love how they all rolled to Yun Chi, as if recognize him as their mother. 😃 Or maybe they just recognized his kind and warm heart. I love how generous and sincere Yun Chi was. He gave all the unused gems to Yan Yan and thank him sincerely. Love Yan Yan, hope to see him again.
