Chapter 48: A God’s Marriage (19)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Yun Chi slowly put down the comb. The bones of the beast touched the polished brown wood floor and made a slight clink.

The little sea otters shivered in their fluffy white fur. Yun Chi held his breath and carefully lifted one, feeling the weight of that flesh in his hand, very strong.

Perhaps because they had just been born, they hadn’t had time to open their eyes, so they just shrugged their little black and wet noses, and pawed around with their fat paws as they tried to sniff Yun Chi’s scent.

So strange, so cute, but so strange, but…But it’s so cute!

Yun Chi screamed in his mind without any image. He cleared his throat and calmly said, “Sa’gya.”

“Uh-huh…” The sea otter responded to him as if he was sleeping.

“Sa’gya, open your eyes,” Yun Chi said.

Sa’gya rubbed his cheeks with his fur paws and asked suspiciously, “What’s wrong?”

Yun Chi’s voice rippled, “Come on, look at this.”

Sa’gya tilted up his round face, opened his eyes happily and relaxedly, then saw the little sea otter who was twisting around in Yun Chi’s hand, and the group of snowy white balls that were rolling around his legs.

Then Sa’gya fell off Yun Chi’s lap in fear.

“What, what…?” He stared straight at the pocket-sized group. His back arched high, and his fur exploded as he gasped for air.

It was as if a loud thunderstorm had struck inside the strange house, which shook the little sea otters and caused them to shiver and rush to huddle behind Yun Chi.

“You’re scaring them!” Yun Chi hurriedly gathered the poor little ones in his arms. “When I combed your fur, your fallen hair just turned into this. You…Don’t you feel anything?”

Feelings?

What could he feel? What did he need to feel? This wasn’t right…It was utterly wrong. As the Lord God, he could indeed derive from his body and powers then divide into newborn gods as a way to apportion the management of his oversized domain, but that had been a long, long time ago. Something that only happened in the last divine generation!

Sa’gya gazed at these ignorant little sea otters, and through their entities, he could see their bodies surged with a faint trace of divine power. It belonged to their own divine power, and the air was also gradually filled with a thin fragrance.

Even the divine fragrance…They were completely a group of newborn God chicks, just waiting for the right time to be given divine power, then they could build their own divine spectrum.

But, but…this wasn’t right. This was ridiculous…! How could a giant tree that has long since died blossom, and how can a flower that has long since become mud still hang fruit?

Sa’gya stared in amazement at Yun Chi, his pup. At this point, he had to admit a fact – Yun Chi’s arrival had aroused his almost instinctive vitality and pulled back his steps towards retreat.

Yun Chi was his lost and found family, the only thing he had left. That greedy thought ignited a brand new desire in Sa’gya’s heart. Since you have already made up your mind to do anything for Yun Chi, why don’t you live for him?

Divine incense…Without Yun Chi knowing it, he had become his devotee. And that pure, overwhelming power of faith that made the Gods rejoice, had in turn prompted the tiny sea otters, who would be approximately equal to Yun Chi and his own descendants!

Sa’gya’s heart was in turmoil. He sat uncomfortably looking at the little sea otters arching around, and even though Yun Chi was immersed in the supreme fuzziness, he still sensed something different about him.

He worriedly put down the little grunting things, raised his hand to rub Sa’gya’s furry face, and asked, “What’s wrong? Their appearance…Not good?”

“They were born from my fur and are ready-made preparations for the new gods,” Sa’gya whispered urgently. “If word gets out, the new gods of this generation will not spare such creatures who have the hidden danger of usurpation. They may not dare to come directly to my door to fight, but their secret poisonous methods won’t be lacking, and when the time comes, it’s possible it may involve you…”

Yun Chi thought of this problem and also paused.

“Then what to do?” He picked up a little sea otter and hugged its hot little body. “Can they still change back?”

Sa’gya raised his palm in a greeting gesture.

When they sensed the summons of the main body, the little sea otters scrambled towards Sa’gya and surged over, seven in total, as they dutifully embraced the big sea otter.

Ah, little glutinous rice dumplings piled up big white hairy dumpling!

Yun Chi was hit hard by the cute energy and almost fainted on the spot, Sa’gya put up his round face seriously and answered thoughtfully, “If you don’t want to…”

“It’s not a question of whether I want to or not,” Yun Chi said, maintaining what little sanity he had left and not indulging himself by lying down and rolling around. “it’s a question of whether you’ll get into trouble. If this is going to get you in trouble…”

He looked reluctantly at the little sea otters, and with a hard heart, averted his gaze. “…Then just take them back!”

After this harsh statement, he hurriedly turned his head and locked eyes with Sa’gya, “Wait a minute. If you take them back, they won’t get hurt or harmed, right?”

Under Sa’gya’s gaze, a little sea otter went “bang” back into snow-colored fluff, that set off in an elegant spiral in the air, all the way back to Sa’gya body.

“No, it’s just a temporary delay in their emergence,” The big sea otter reassured. “This isn’t a good time for them to be born, no matter what.”

Yun Chi looked at the little sea otters returning to their original state and comfortably integrating into Sa’gya’s body, and couldn’t help but feel gloomy.

Ah, my sticky rice patties…

When he saw his lost expression, Sa’gya hurriedly moved over, took Yun Chi into his arms with his thick fur paws, and flooded him with warm and dense fur and coaxed him softly, “It’s okay. We will have children again. Don’t be sad.”

Yun Chi sniffled, “Hmm…Hmm?”

Suddenly the words felt strange, as if there was something wrong. The child – the little sea otters were so small, it was right to say that they were children; we…he combed the hair and Sa’gya dropped the hair. It was the result of the sum of the two.

When he thought about it, there was really nothing wrong, but those words sounded wrong…

When it came time for dinner, the big sea otter couldn’t bear to see Yun Chi’s sad appearance, so he pulled out a snow-white otter ball from the fur, and gave it to him to relieve his boredom.

“You can’t take it outside the room,” Sa’gya instructed. “It will be seen by the sun, the moon, the stars, and the sky gods.”

“Yes!” Yun Chi immediately beamed with joy, then spooned some warm milk and slowly fed it to the little sea otter.

They shared a cool and delicious honey malt before bedtime, and when they went to bed, Sa’gya held Yun Chi to his heart, with an even smaller white sea otter on his belly, while the moonlight from the window poured through the window ribs and onto the cozy, comfortable bed and the light blue tapestry hanging behind it.

Yun Chi didn’t lose any sleep that night, and the moment he fell into Sa’gya’s arms, his eyelids felt unbearably heavy as he fell straight into a dark, sweet sleep.

The next day, outside the window, the sky was clear and snowy, and Yun Chi woke up feeling refreshed.

He looked up from the warm, thick fur and saw Sa’gya was still asleep. He couldn’t help but smile secretly, as he picked up the little sea otter that had rolled onto him, gingerly slipped out of bed and walked to the kitchen.

What should I make in the morning?

I’ll make some rice, soak some beans, and make a bean porridge!

Sa’gya was sleeping heavily. When the pup came back, his anxious heart was suddenly at ease, so he awoke even later than Yun Chi.

But why was there nothing in his arms?

He felt the bed in surprise, but didn’t sense Yun Chi. The big sea otter immediately panicked. He suddenly opened his eyes and looked around, only to smell a very familiar aroma from the kitchen.

It turned out he was in the kitchen…

False alarm. Sa’gya quietly breathed a sigh of relief. He went to the kitchen, then tried to put his chin on Yun Chi’s shoulder, only to find that the customary left shoulder had been occupied by a little sea otter lying on it.

Well. Sa’gya twitched his whiskers unhappily and chose the other shoulder instead. He nuzzled Yun Chi’s cheek affectionately and looked over at the soup pot that was rolling with a sticky soft golden grain porridge that had many large and small beans spinning inside.

“Smells good, doesn’t it?” Yun Chi asked with a smile, then added some chopped herbs to the mix.

Sa’gya nodded. “Yes, it smells good.”

After a night of mental preparation, Sa’gya hesitated for a while and whispered, “Last night, I thought for a long time…”

“Ah,” Yun Chi stirred the bean porridge, scooped out a little bit from it, and blew on it to taste it. “What’s wrong?”

The new rice porridge really didn’t need any sugar. It had a thick grainy sweetness and the beans were cooked very dense and crispy. Good!

He scooped another spoonful, blew it cold and fed it to Sa’gya. The big sea otter said hesitantly, holding the porridge in his mouth, “I thought about it – well, it’s delicious – I thought about it for a while. That is…My ebbing trend. It might have stopped.”

Yun Chi turned his head sharply and stared at him gleefully.

“What do you mean?” the teenager urgently pursued. “What do you mean the ebbing trend has stopped? You don’t have to die?”

Sa’gya rubbed his face, troubled. “Death is the destination of all things, and I cannot be pardoned. It’s only that I may delay the result.”

“How? How could that be?” Yun Chi stammered. It was as if he had been hit in the face by the lottery he had forwarded eight hundred years ago. “Why did you say that all of a sudden? Is it because…”

He glanced at the little sea otter and hastily held it up. “Is it because of them?”

Sa’gya bit his palm and nodded. “Because of the belated faith, my divine power was rekindled, which contributed to their appearance. This means that I am far from being at the dead end of a withered life, and there should be room to turn back.”

Yun Chi was overjoyed. “Isn’t that a great thing! No, wait, where did you say the faith came from? It’s not me, is it?”

“Yes, it’s you.” Sa’gya tried to cover up his shyness with a slurred pronunciation. “According to the rules, you are my last…The last devotee.”

Before Yun Chi could say anything, Sa’gya whispered, “So I’ve been wondering if I should say hello to you with my real other side.”

That’s as if you’re going to show me your real personality…

Yun Chi didn’t think much about it. Knowing that Sa’gya didn’t have to gradually go into annihilation was the best news he could get recently, so what would he care about the real side or the false side?

Therefore, he happily agreed, “No matter what you become, you will always be you, and you will never change in my heart!”

Hearing him say so, Sa’gya also no longer hesitated. One person and one otter sat on the ground, satisfied with a light dish as they finished a pot of bean porridge.

The daylight moved to noon. Sa’gya was still at home knitting a scarf, while Yun Chi had just bought a pan from Astolfo and waiting to make a fragrant omelette, so he said hello to the big sea otter and prepared to go to the pine forest to continue the work of the egg-stealing guerrilla.

To his surprise, Sa’gya didn’t go along this time, but told Yun Chi, somewhat sheepishly, that the scarf was about to be knitted and he just wanted to finish it quickly.

“Okay,” Yun Chi put on his backpack. “I’ll go first then. I’ll be back soon, don’t you worry.”

Watching Sa’gya nod vigorously. Yun Chi couldn’t help but mutter in his heart.

What’s going on here?

He pondered and absentmindedly took away ten eggs, then patted the snow on his body and went home, as he left a winter grouse hiding behind the tree, too angry to say anything.

“Sa’gya?” Yun Chi pushed open the door, but there was no sign of the big sea otter, only a scarf left on the bed, already finished.

He knocked the snow off his shoes, picked up the little sea otter rolling around all over the floor, and searched the house suspiciously. “Sa’gya, where are you?”

There was a rushing sound from the cloakroom. Yun Chi looked over and found a white fluffy shadow faintly moving around inside.

Yun Chi laughed as he pushed aside the beautiful divine garments and asked, “What are you doing here…”

–His eyes collided with a tall, apprehensive-looking man.

“…What.”

Yun Chi’s pupils quaked, his lips quivered, and the little sea otter on his shoulder simultaneously opened its round, crystal-black eyes and wailed in horror.
