Chapter 49: A God’s Marriage (20)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: GaeaTiamat

The man looked up in panic. Yun Chi’s first thought was, How tall!

This was simply not the height and size of a human being. If the other man stood up straight, Yun Chi was afraid that he could only reach his chest. There was no doubt, this was a huge guy with his broad shoulders, thick chest, and well-defined sculpted abs and…Oh well, he covered it up.

— all in all, it showed the fact that he could lift Yun Chi up and choke him with one hand.

Perhaps from overwhelming nervousness, the man stuttered, “I…you…I am…”

Yun Chi stared at him intently, trying to capture more of the divine beauty before he felt shy.

It wasn’t like he was exaggerating. The man’s white hair was plentiful and dense, as it cascaded over his shoulders like a thick cloud of undulating waves that densely covered his spine. His skin was an extremely gorgeous, shimmering brown. His frosty eyelashes and light-colored eyebrows dotted his deep and handsome features. Thousands of stars and dust slowly hovered in his bright pupils, giving him a paradoxical mix of gentleness and detachment, innocence and old age.

“…You are Sa’gya,” Yun Chi said, as he picked up the second half of the sentence for him.

The man, or Sa’gya in human form, moved his lips and replied restrainedly, “I am…Sa’gya.”

Yun Chi mused, “So, this is your ‘real other side’.”

Sa’gya avoided Yun Chi’s direct gaze with some embarrassment, “Yes, this is my other form.”

Yun Chi nodded and said, “You get dressed first.”

Sa’gya looked at his pup with a headache, wanting to laugh and bite him at the same time. “Can you…Can you go out first? Wait until I’m dressed before…”

Yun Chi raised his hand to cover his eyes, and the little sea otter on his shoulder also followed suit, as he raised his round fur paws to cover his eyes.

“I won’t look,” Yun Chi said, “you change.”

I’m lying. Haha, I’ll peek when you turn around, Yun Chi thought calmly.

Sa’gya, “…”

Oh dear, what a little villain.

The sea god complained sweetly in his heart as he came closer to Yun Chi’s face and asked softly, “Are you sure you won’t look?”

Yun Chi quietly moved his fingers away a little, and was shocked to find that the gorgeous to the point of foul face was less than three centimeters away from him. His calm pretense was instantly shattered, and Yun Chi’s cheeks flushed red as he squealed and fled.

Sa’gya straightened up his body. His eyes smiled, and he stared intently at Yun Chi’s defeated back. It was very dangerous to expose one’s back to a wild animal, even if the beast was raised privately.

After staring for less than a moment, Sa’gya quickly turned his face away to hide his hungry look.

It was too early for a straightforward courtship. After all, they were already family, companions, and Yun Chi was too young to understand what it meant to be the wife of a god. Also the human soul couldn’t afford such a long companionship.

So be it. Let nature take its course. The process of bridging the gap between one heart and another, of drawing closer to each other, was a wonderful one, and one should not rush it, nor should one be impatient to reveal the end.

Sa’gya took a deep breath. He could smell Yun Chi’s breath, mixed with his own, slowly becoming indistinguishable from each other…

Sa’gya quickly changed into his own divine clothes and felt the power they contained flowing through his body like a river and sea.

After turning into a human body, he was a little uncomfortable with the suddenly heightened view. Sa’gya stepped out into the Strange House, and this time it was his turn to go around and look for Yun Chi.

He looked at the bedside, the kitchen, the attic, the reading room…Ah, there he was.

The temple contained many documents from the Second Divine Age, all carved on heavy gold pages. The narrative was mostly about how the priests of the various temples handled the affairs of the territory, large and small, and how the gods appeared in the mortal world to give revelations to their followers, which could be read as a serious history book.

Sa’gya was afraid that Yun Chi would get bored, so he created a reading room in the Strange House to accommodate those ancient golden books. In his spare time, he cradled Yun Chi on his belly and read the stories to him, depicting the scenery of 10,000 years ago.

What was he doing here?

Sa’gya walked over to him and, as was his custom in the old days, rested his chin on the pup’s shoulder as he asked curiously, “Why are you hiding here?”

Yun Chi subconsciously turned his head, but he didn’t react. The Sa’gya in front of him was no longer the big sea otter with the soft fur face from before – he was now a fierce man so handsome that the sun and moon had no light.

Yun Chi’s nose brushed violently against Sa’gya’s warm face. Feeling a different touch than before, he tilted his head in surprise, only to brush his lips solidly over it as well.

” Whoa!” The teenager covered his mouth and cried out. Sa’gya also pressed his cheek and looked at him with wide eyes.

As the two stared at each other in confusion, Yun Chi suddenly realized that blushing could be such an obvious thing, and even on dark skin, the flush that spread out was as striking as a haze.

Yun Chi’s lips were burning hot, so hot that he couldn’t say a complete sentence because of his clumsy speech.

“I’m sorry, I forgot I’m in this form now…”

“…It’s okay! I’m the one who overreacted. It’s okay!” Yun Chi hurriedly cut Sa’gya’s words off. “I just wanted to find some information, nothing else.”

The tense atmosphere slowly dissipated. Sa’gya sat down again. Finally he couldn’t resist, and as before, lightly and skillfully lifted Yun Chi onto his own body. Yun Chi sucked in a breath. He was completely nestled in Sa’gya’s embrace. Although there was no longer warm and soft fur, when he rested back on him, there were Sa’gya’s full and firm pectoral muscles…

The heat came from all sides. Sa’gya’s arms folded around his, and Yun Chi felt as if he were next to a piece of soft velvet – the god’s body was clean and flawless, perfect at every angle.

One man and one god wore the same style of robe, and when Sa’gya bowed his head, his white hair fell in droves that enveloped Yun Chi’s ears.

“What’s wrong? What are you looking for?”

He was so close that Yun Chi was about to burn up, but he thought about business, tried not to let his mind wander and said, “Do you know about the ‘Bride of God’?”

Sa’gya’s expression slowly froze as he asked in a deep voice, “What do you think that is?”

“During my visit to the Astolfo city-state, I met the God-family of the Mountain God, Astolfo, and he took me to a gathering of some God-family. From there, I asked about the ‘God’s Bride’,” Yun Chi said. “According to them, if any of the God-family members, who are selfless, merciful and brave…In short, if they can reach the standard of a saint, then they may be elevated to become the Bride of God and serve the Gods permanently.”

He asked, “Is this possible?”

Sa’gya knew this, of course. The West Wind had reported to him in extensive detail about Yun Chi’s bits and pieces, and he knew that the pup had met with those of the divine family. About the new gods pounding things, even if he was in the wandering sea of the lonely island, he often heard something. But that didn’t mean that the earthly God-family members could disturb Yun Chi’s mind with these messy things.

He said softly, “Do you know why there have been so many demigods and heroes since ancient times? Superhuman in physique and spirit – building a career, or splitting mountains, or fighting monsters hundreds of times more powerful than themselves? They reached achievements beyond the reach of ordinary people and gained the power and strength shared by the Gods, so why did they ultimately choose death, no different from ordinary people, over the glory of eternal life?”

Yun Chi was attracted by his question, and ignored the small intimate gesture, “Why?”

“Because the fragile souls of humans cannot bear the weight of eternal life.” Sa’gya said. “A god tastes wine with pleasure when he first drinks it, and after drinking it a hundred times or a thousand times, he still feels that good feeling like before; but a human tastes wine with pleasure when he first drinks it, and after drinking it a hundred times or a thousand times, what about it?”

“People are easily bored creatures. In order to relieve this boredom, they tend to go after more and more intense things. The real example I saw was that the wine wasn’t good, then they drank the blood of the enemy painfully. When the blood of the enemy lost its stimulation, then what was the taste of the hot blood of the man who died in vain, full of regret and remorse? What about the bitter blood of innocent people who were afraid to cry and beg, mixed with tears? — They chase on step by step until there is no way for them to go any further except the abyss.”

“Immortality distorts the human soul, and too long a life can make you completely unlike yourself,” Sa’gya whispered. “God’s Bride. If the new gods really created such a product, it’s definitely not going to end well for them.”

Yun Chi froze. He said in a daze, “I never thought about this situation…”

Sa’gya sighed. “It’s just a bunch of cowards who don’t dare to rebel against the Mother Goddess, Irma, and have no choice but to find a way out with the more humble believers. That the new gods have fallen to this level, only means that…”

He wanted to say something but didn’t speak again.

Yun Chi murmured, “Those God-followers also spoke of some kind of stigmata that will appear on the Bride of God, and I heard them say it with such conviction that I thought there was really such a thing…”

Sa’gya asked, “Why are you so concerned about the God-family members?”

“Because I don’t want you to perish,” Yun Chi replied sullenly. “My loved ones are gone, and my home can’t be called a home. It’s just an empty house where I live alone. You are…You are the closest existence to my family all these years, and when I think about how you are obviously a god, but you can’t escape the fate of passing away, I can’t get past this in my heart…”

Sa’gya’s arms around Yun Chi froze.

Treating me like family…What kind of family, a family that has a glimmer of hope of keeping me, even if it means becoming the Bride of God?

When he thought of that, Sa’gya’s breathing instantly sharpened. He had to tilt his chin up because his fangs were furiously breaking through the shackles of divine power, with the intent to burst out of his closed lips and leave their mark on the pup…An eternal imprint.

Sa’gya’s body tensed as he gritted his teeth, buried his head into the side of Yun Chi’s neck, and breathed deeply, deeply, as he tried to ease the burning in his throat and the insatiable longing in his heart.

“Sa’gya?” Yun Chi sensed that something was wrong, but felt it was not a good idea to turn his head to see Sa’gya’s expression. “What’s wrong with you?”

“I’m fine,” Sa’gya replied dully. “I’m fine. I’m fine.”

Author’s Note:

Both are obviously beautiful; what else would they be 😏 Would Sa’gya look like a vampire, if his teeth extended whilst in human form? 🤔
I’m not sure what Sa’gya says about humans obtaining immortality, would apply to YC; as long as he had him.
Author’s note is amusing 😁
Thank you both for the chapter.

Little villain Yun Chi defeated by gentle Sa’gya. 🤣 Hmm I guess it means the end of the new gods is coming? They’re so corrupt in mind and affecting their followers’s too in process. So, is it time for new gods to born? My, if they know of the little otters, can’t imagine what they’ll do in desperate.
