Chapter 78: Dark Sky Sanctuary (13)

Translated by Addis of Exiled Rebels Scanlations

Editor: GaeaTiamat

The green eyes were stunned, and when they realized what Yu Mengzhou was talking about, they suddenly became furious.

“Shut up, you shallow and ignorant mortal! How dare you claim that I covet your dull limbs and uninteresting human skin!” Green Eyes hissed. “I condescend to tell you–”

“Holy shit!” Yu Mengzhou let out a strange cry of incredulity. “Peeping Tom has a point! Pretending to be serious! If you didn’t pop out of the bathtub, I’d really believe it!”

With lightning speed, he drew out a horseshoe file longer than a rolling pin, and pointed it at the dripping eyeballs under the water, as he threatened, “Get lost, or I’ll blow out your eyeballs!”

“A bathtub?” Green Eyes shot out an odd light. “It’s under the Unbridled Pleasure’s hand that this is the Overeater King’s face-washing room. What bath?”

Yu Mengzhou opened his mouth and looked down. “What do you mean? This is for washing, washing your face?”

Good lord, with a faceplate this big, Gao’er and Striker were still good enough to take down the palace…

“Anyway,” laughed Green Eyes. “This place has long been covered by my silk net. No matter what happens, those demon horses won’t hear it, nor will they know it…”

Before he finished speaking, Sevenfold Eyes’ concerned voice sounded from outside, penetrating through the thick gold-encrusted stone door in a blur, “Are you alright in there? I can’t see the situation inside. Do you need me to come in?”

Green Eyes’ laughter first caught in his throat, then turned into a hard choked sob.

“There’s no sound…” Blasphe not-so-gently pressed against the door panel. “Could he be asleep? It’s dangerous to sleep in the water. Should we break in?”

“Out of the way, all of you!” Bloody Butcher said impatiently. “What if something happens to the human in there? Let’s just step on the door that’s in the way first…”

“But the human loves the pool inside…he’ll be sad if we break it.”

“…Uh, what did you say? Where’s Gao’er? He’s gone off somewhere at the wrong time. Let him turn into a shadow and ooze over to check it out!”

Yu Mengzhou turned his head and shrugged innocently at Green Eyes.

“That’s impossible, those are demon horses?” Green Eyes hissed in horror. “How could they possibly do that to you…Impossible, how is this possible?!”

He remembered the details of the demonic warhorses well to this day. They were tyrants of the living, nightmares of unrivaled power, overwhelmingly arrogant, yet humiliatingly bound to the killing force, tormented in a hell of agony every second they lived, and subjected every living soul in their way to the same torment…In any battle that Angola where loosened the reins a little, they would bring the others down. It would be a massacre without distinction between the two sides, and after the battle, there were only corpses strewn across the ground, red with blood.

–With the iron hooves of the horses, Angola had risen to the position of Prince of Demons, crowned the supreme ruler of the world, the tamer of the horses.

But now…those rambling creatures outside the door were demon warhorses? To break into a bath and be worried about whether or not they’ll kick the sink and make the human sad…That was actually a demon warhorse?

He faced the human with near fear, already regretting his intrusion. “What did you do to them? Why did the demon horses become like that?!”

Yu Mengzhou didn’t care how much mental activity was going on in those green eyes as he raised his hoof file. “Anyway, you heard them all. They’ll be in here in a few minutes and if you don’t get lost…”

“Wait wait wait! I have something to say to you!” With time running out, Green Eyes was no longer hiding and bluffing like the Riddler, “I see your future! Your landing will bring the Demon Realm close to destruction, and billions of living beings will go into oblivion because of you, though your hands are pure white and untainted by blood…Well, a little bit of blood, actually, but! But you will bring…”

“Break down the door,” Falchion’s morose voice sounded deep. “Something’s not right in there.”

“–Falchion!” Green Eyes screamed in fear, hurriedly swallowed back the words that came out of his mouth and warned Yu Mengzhou sharply, “Anyway, hurry up and leave the Demon Realm. This isn’t the right place for you. You’ll bring all the demons disaster…”

With a loud bang, the flames spewed out by Falchion blasted into the pool of water. The green eyes wailed loudly in pain and instantly disappeared into the mass of evaporated mist. Through the churning silhouette, Yu Mengzhou could vaguely make out what appeared to be the shape of a spider. 1

“Are you alright?” The demon horses rushed in and filled the wide chamber to overflowing, while those who couldn’t rush in anxiously crowded in the doorway, and squeezed the doorframe to the point of creaking. “Gao’er, Striker! How did you do the cleanup, and why are there still leaks?!”

Falchion sniffed Yu Mengzhou’s hair and body carefully and deeply. He smelled nothing more than an odor so fragrant it made his blood overheat.

“Don’t blame them,” he shook his head and looked up as if nothing had happened. “It was the Weaver who was here.”

Blasphe hissed, “Demon Lords, the Weaver? No wonder he can sneak in here. I think he has a death wish!”

“All get out first. Don’t huddle in a pile here.” Falchion ordered in a deep voice. “Bloody Butcher, Catastrophe, and Iron Scepter. Go find Striker, and you’ll join him in guarding the periphery of the palace; Crusade, Ether, and Blasphe, patrol the palace’s interior once more; Sevenfold Eyes, you’ll scout with Noel and Deathstar the dark passages and secret rooms, and call Gao’er and Radiant Angel to me.”

He ordered them succinctly, and scattered the demon horses before he asked in a low voice, “What did he say to you?”

Yu Mengzhou asked curiously in return, “That Weaver, who is he?”

“This palace is under the Unbridled Pleasure Sect. The Bishop is one of the five Lords of the Demon Realm, and the Weaver is another Demon Lord,” Falchion replied. “His full name is ‘Weaver of Fate.’ In other words, he can see part of the future.”

Yu Mengzhou instantly tensed up. “Uh, then it seems like he was here to warn me…”

“Warn you?” Falchion chewed on the words slowly. “What did he want to warn you about?”

Yu Mengzhou recalled the Weaver’s words, “He said that I would bring calamity to this world, and countless magical creatures would be annihilated because of me…and told me to hurry up and leave…that I shouldn’t have come here…That’s pretty much it.”

After hearing his words, Falchion was uncharacteristically silent.

“Falchion? “Yu Mengzhou also got worried. “What’s wrong, he…Is he telling the truth?”

“In some ways, the Weaver does not exaggerate the truth.” Falchion gazed down at his human, while the lines on his horns glowed bright red. “Angola engineered us into submission, enslaved us with pain for thousands of years. Not only do we seek revenge, but the process of that revenge will never be sloppy or negligent. Whoever has insulted the majesty of the herd, other than the Prince who was the mastermind, we must return the favor a thousand times over with a tooth for a tooth, and an eye for an eye. We will rejoice in bringing calamity, even as the demonic realm falls to pieces under the hooves of the demonic horses.”

“And you have liberated us, greatly accelerating the process. What the Weaver said was indeed true.”

He turned to look tenderly at Yu Mengzhou, “But he came to you, not because you were responsible for bringing this about, but because he was too deceitful and afraid to come to me, or any of the Demon Horses, and ask us to change our minds; and he was even more afraid to go to Angola and ask the Prince to bear the burden of responsibility for what he had done. You know, even if we were to cause this world to be ruined and start over, it was not you who made the decision, but us; and it was not you who started it all, but Angola.”

“You are blameless,” Falchion said softly. “As you were, as you are, and as you will remain. In my heart, this is a truth that shall not be questioned.”

Yu Mengzhou stared blankly at the demon horse. He wanted to say something, but didn’t know where to begin.

In fact, when the Weaver shouted at him, “You will lead to the destruction of the world,” even though he had wanted to open his mouth and retort, “It’s none of my business, I’m just a farrier, don’t put all the blame on me,” his heart was still a bit uneasy.

That was because he had seen the power of the demon war horses. In front of him they were good little boys who could put their hooves to the sky and show their bellies to please, but in the face of other demons, they were even more bloodthirsty than the most ferocious executioner.

Am I really going to cause a bad end to the entire Demon Region? he asked himself, even though this is a hell full of evil people, but to really destroy a world, this is still…

At that moment, when he heard Falchion’s answer, he commissioned a feeling of enlightenment and clarity.

“You…You’re right,” he nodded. “But what is a Demon Lord?”

“An Archdemon under the Prince,” Falchion said. “Before Angola’s ascension, there were five Demon Lords, and since his ascension to Prince, the remaining Lords have become four.”

An Archdemon under the Prince? An Archdemon was afraid like that after hearing your name?

Yu Mengzhou secretly thought of the time he had watched the scene of the herd resisting the riders, and listened to Falchion’s pitiful words, as he said that, “even the lowliest of riders can ride on our heads for blessings.” At that time, he thought that the herd was in a state where everyone could be bullied. Simple characters, right…? Though soon they died badly as well.

“Wait a minute,” Yu Mengzhou suddenly reacted. “Five Lords? The spell spikes on your hooves are also five!”

Falchion calmly nodded his head. “Yes, it was indeed the five Lords who symbolized the supremacy of the Demon Realm that joined forces to seal us.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me!” Yu Mengzhou said sharply. “Well, though it wouldn’t have been of much use to say it…”

Falchion blew out his lips in surprise, “You want to know? I thought you weren’t really interested in that so I never asked you.”

Yu Mengzhou coughed to disguise his thoughts. In reality, he really wasn’t very interested in those things. Every day, he just indulged in hanging out with the big horses, petting and hugging them, observing their habits and whatnot…They were demon warhorses, eh. Who could resist curiosity!

“Well,” he said. “Then…I’ll go check Ether’s hooves. He’s been acting up for days.”

A fond smile spread across Falchion’s eyes as he dropped his head and gently licked the side of Yu Mengzhou’s face.

The demon horse’s tongue was hot, as coarse as fine sandpaper, and where Falchion licked him, Yu Mengzhou’s face instantly turned red, not knowing whether it was scraped or scalded.

“Go on,” he whispered. “You smell good. There are clean clothes over there.”

Yu Mengzhou covered his face, which now burned even to the roots of his ears. He stammered, unable to speak, and hastened to flee as he grabbed the little basket of clean clothes and ran away.

In the garden, Ether, when he received the news, was overjoyed, and after trampling a patch of blood-rose to a scattered mess, he hastily picked out a marble bench that looked more agreeable, and rested his hoofs on it, then looked eagerly at to Yu Mengzhou, who was selecting his tools.

“Come, let me take a look,” Yu Mengzhou turned around. When he saw that Ether had already posed himself, he couldn’t help but smile. “You’re good.”

Ether’s heart was happy as he rubbed up against the human, then he suddenly realized that the other’s face was red.

“What’s wrong?” Ether came closer to look, only to smell the intimidating chief’s scent. “Your face is so red. Are you sick?”

“It’s nothing!” Yu Mengzhou hastily crouched down and checked his hooves. “Let’s just…Get straight to the point.”

Every demon horse had their own problems, and Ether was no exception. In addition to the suppressed spell spikes, Yu Mengzhou was surprised to find there were copper nails densely packed to form a complex, phallic-like pattern on the hoof surface, and that they penetrated upwards through the hoof skin and leg bones, to lock firmly into the hoof.

This one was much more easily handled. He picked up the nail-cutting pliers and first twisted the bent, stout copper nails straight one by one, then tapped them with the pliers’ face in a regular, orderly fashion until he tapped the nails loose, causing them to emerge, one by one, from the bottom of the hoof.

“Say ouch when it hurts.” Yu Mengzhou said. “It’s better to say it than to endure it.”

Spiders don’t bother me, although a giant one with glowing green eyes, when I’d just taken a bath, might be different! 😳
The Weaver should know, then, that the Bishop has thoughts about ousting Angola, depending on the War Horses success.
YM still has a lot of horse’s hooves to clean up.
Thank you both for the chapter.
